I really like a book which translates into modern text and this is exactly that type. There are certain types of authors who can write about a truly historic character like St. Patrick about whom there is little known about his life but Eric Foster is one such writer. He has the ability to put flesh to the person without pretending to present the details as fact. Using intelligent guess work, research and the context of the period he creates an enjoyable story. Bravo, a very enjoyable book. Highly recommended for easy understanding of the life and times of a Saint. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of Becoming St. Patrick.
Becoming St. Patrick by Eric Foster is a historical fiction book about the early life in struggles of the man who would eventually be known at Saint Valentine I think the best thing about this book is Eric Foster’s way of writing in a modern style about a historical subject but still having the story come out sounding legitimate and as historical as it needs to be I hope that makes sense. We get to see in the beginning the future Saint at home but it is later in the book when we get to see him in a way we’ve never seen him before I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it I have read this authors books before and will continue to do so he has such an awesome writing style he is an author who definitely knows how to spin a yarn. I want to thank the publisher the author and NetGalley for my free ARC copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
