Callie Parker, 34, met the famous and charismatic Duncan Stone who is a big movie star at an office party. He seemed to be taken with her right away and showered her with attention. Mesmerized by him, she soon was swept up in his life and moved in with him. However, he soon began to show the real monster that he is. He controlled her, gaslighted her, separated her from her friends, and beat her. Her only love was her golden retriever, Chester, who was the love of her life. When Duncan humiliated her one time too many, she decided to fake her death. She had made plans with her friend, Laurel, to meet up with her and Callie will stay in a small home on the land owned by Nico Adams, whom Callie had known years ago in school. In addition, Laurel had found a way to get her dog to her as well.

Away from Duncan, it takes lots of time for Callie to learn to relax somewhat but she is always looking over her shoulder. Nico is very caring and provides her with groceries and security. But, Callie is always fearful that with his money and power Duncan will hunt her down and kill her as he promised he would do if she ever left him.

This book is very gripping and made me cringe all the way through. All I wanted to do was to get my hands on Duncan and give him a taste of his own medicine. To think that there could be, and probably are, many people like this out there. So evil and so cruel. However, this needs to be a lesson to young, impressionable women that not everything comes without a price. Be ready to a scary ride with this book.

Nowhere to Hide by Keri Beevis

Could be a hard read for some due to the subject matter - relationship abuse.
Callie is initially very flattered when Duncan Stone , seen by many as a catch. They date , and Th can soon invites Callie to move in with him.
But Duncan is not how he seems and Callie s life takes a turn and her fairytale turns into a nightmareI
Full of tension and a believable plot, really enjoyed it.

This was a fast paced, super suspenseful page turner. I was on the edge of my seat the entire book.

Callie is a woman on the run. Her handsome but evil ex Duncan is determined to find her and punish her. With the help of friends will she be able to stay hidden or will Duncan find her?

My first from this author and I really enjoyed it! The characters were lovable and the story flowed well. I was rooting for Callie the entire time and I wanted to hurt Duncan! Keri Beevis did a good job capturing Duncan's evil nature. Overall this was a good read and I would recommend!

Interesting story with some sections that I found very distressing to read and had to quickly skim over the detail. It was necessary to the plot though but that don’t help when reading it. So trigger warning for domestic abuse and controlling behaviour.
Not my usual sort of book and I’m not sure I would recommend it to anyone unless I knew they would be ok with the content.

My heart was in my throat for most of this book. I knew the set up: rich older guy snags a younger woman and then completely isolated her.
However I had no idea the insidious nature of Duncan and his goon Rob.
They both needed baseball bats treatments.
It was pure horror what Callie had to endure and her family were morons.
Of course I fell for Nico from the first sentence— a knight with horses.
I loved Chester and cringed with every scene between he and the devil Duncan.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Nowhere To Hide' by Keri Beevis.

Read and reviewed for Keri Beevis, Boldwood Books, Book & Tonic, NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources Tours.

Publication date 2nd April 2024

This is the second book I have read by this very talented author. I have previously read 'The Boat House' (now titled the House In The Woods) which I would also highly recommend!

This novel consists of 37 chapters. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

'Nowhere To Hide' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Keri discusses/includes domestic violence, manipulation, gas lighting and narcissism.

WHAT did I just read!!!! WOW!!! I mean seriously Wow!! I was NOT expecting that lot fair play!!! This has GOT to start with a MASSIVE WELL DONE Keri!!!! Ooopps sorry, yes, needed a minute to get over that but I've just left you hanging there... Sorry.... Let me tell you more...

Firstly let's start off with the writing style, etc!! This book is an extremely well written book by this amazing author which had me hook line and sinker!!! It is so smoothly and fantastically written with vivid descriptions I completely forgot I was even reading a book a few times. The synopsis, title and cover really fit the storyline.

As you can tell I LOVED the storyline!!! I found it to be realistic, heart racing, nail biting, addictive ,extremely fast paced and everything you could ask for in an absolutely gripping storyline!! As I mentioned earlier this book does contain a lot of scenes of domestic abuse, manipulation and gaslighting so please be wary of this before you start reading. Domestic abuse is a serious topic and I am a very big believer that it should be written about more to highlight the fact that there are so many ways that someone could abuse another without necessarily physically hitting them and the more people who are made aware of this the better. I have been in violent relationships myself and it easy for someone on the outside to question why that person does not just leave but Keri has done an absolutely fantastic job of showing some of the reasons that a person may not be able to. I wont go into my life but in this book one of the reasons Keri uses in this book is Callie's dog Chester and her love of him and how Duncan uses this against her. Duncan also isolates her from her friends and family which is another sign of an abusive relationship so please keep in mind these signs when it comes to those around you!! The storyline is based around Callie whose birth name is Micaela but she prefers to go by the name Callie. Callie gets into a relationship with ex movie star Duncan Stone who turns out to be a cruel, evil, sadistic piece of turd to put it nicely!!! Callie is isolated from her friends, gaslight, abused and more. She finally manages to escape with the help of an old friend Lauren and her brother Nico who help get her away. However, Duncan will not rest until he has her back. Is Callie ever going to be free? Has she put her friends in danger? Can she really trust those who seem to be looking after her? To find out grab your copy of this absolutely adrenaline packed, explosive and addictive page turner and find out for yourself!! i promise you wont regret it!! Keri does an absolutely amazing job of not only weaving Callie's story in multiple timelines but we also see what is going on with the use of her using multiple protagonists too. We get the bonus of seeing through the eyes of not only Callie but also Duncan, Nico and Faith and Keri has done an absolutely fantastic job of weaving the chapters together to ensure the reader gets the bigger picture but without giving too much away at the same time!! The book is absolutely ram packed with fear, tension, suspense, animals, romance, friendship and twists and turns that there was no way I would have ever seen coming!! I was absolutely gob smacked at the bomb shells Keri dropped on me throughout this book. I have read thousands of books and many of them being thrillers so it really is getting harder and harder to shock me but Keri managed it hook , line and sinker so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!! This book is also filled with animals including 4 beautiful horses, Chester, Callie's Golden Retriever along with Nico's dogs Shyla, a boxer and Dash, a spaniel. I am a massive animal lover and actually run my own rescue called Golden Oldies Cat Rescue and Hospice which you can find out more on social media. I absolutely love seeing animals in books and Chester especially played such a large part in this book!! He is such a sweet and adorable boy and I was rooting for him throughout along with Callie and Nico who I also loved. I loved the storyline, the characters, the location and just well... Everything!!! I absolutely loved this twisty and gripping thriller!!! Keri's evocative writing skills really brings the atmosphere and setting to life along with the characters and the suspense she creates. This book was extremely fast paced with something constantly happening to keep you addicted. Every time I kept telling myself one more chapter the one I was in ended at a point where there was no way I could stop reading so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!! Just brilliant fair play and everything linked in and wraps up perfectly!!! I cannot remember the last time I flew through a book so quickly. Each and every time I went to put it down to do something my fingers were itching to pick it back up as I just HAD to know what happened next!! Keri's evocative writing skills ensures you are dragged deep into the storyline seeing everything that is happening and feeling the tension and suspense throughout. I was on the edge of my seat and biting my nails wondering what was going to happen next. I can't say more than that as I don't want to spoil it for future readers so if you want to know you'll have to grab yourself a copy!! Just like with the storyline the characters come to life with Keri's fantastic writing skills. They are well rounded, complex, realistic and strong making them all the more believable. I won't go into more details as I don't want to risk giving anything away but Keri really has done an amazing job constructing an addictive and explosive psychological thriller with fantastic and varied characters that you just won't be able to put down!! Regardless of whether you love or hate the characters they all work perfectly to create an absolutely explosive page turner!! I would absolutely LOVE to see this turned into a movie and would wait up all night to get tickets to watch it!! An absolute must read!!

Congratulations Keri on yet another absolutely explosive success!!!This is the exact reason you are in my favourite author club!! Here's to your next success 🥂!!!

Clear your schedules before picking this fast paced heart racer up as you will not be able to put it down!!! "

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first chapter of Keri's ''Every Little Breath' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!

Overall an absolutely page turning, addictive, gripping and explosive must read that will keep you addicted from the very start to the mind blowing ending!!!

351 pages.

This book is just 99p to purchase on kindle via Amazon, free with Kindle Unlimited and £9.99 in paperback which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

I’ve read a couple of this authors books and really enjoyed them. This one was no exception. Although not an entirely unique storyline it was written fantastically well with some great characters. It was utterly gripping and Duncan is one of the most vilest and twisted characters I’ve came across in a book for a while. Brilliant book

The reader first meets Callie Parker as she arrives in Norwich to stay with Nico Adams, the brother of her old friend Lauren from university days. She’s left behind virtually everything except the clothes on her back, a cheap phone and a bag of cash. However, in her first night in the cottage on Willow Brook Farm, she hears someone outside and once again is terrified for her life. If she is found, then no one there will be safe. Everyone must believe she is dead. We then go back twenty months to Callie’s first meeting with handsome former movie star and now charity fundraiser, Duncan Stone. Every woman’s dream. Except that dream soon becomes a living nightmare as the cruel and darkly obsessive Duncan very quickly takes control over her world and everything in it. The narrative twists back and forth between the past and the present as Callie starts to make her new life and Duncan starts to believe she may still be alive. But is he her greatest threat?
Mental and physical abuse are prominent themes in this taut and twisty story and it often makes very uncomfortable reading, all the more so as we know this is a true representation of the real world. However, there are beautiful things in the book, dogs, horses, love and friendship to counter the bad parts. There’s also a bit of a mystery surrounding the farm and stables when a groom goes missing. With a tense and explosive ending, it’s a powerful tale with some very well portrayed characters and one which is very hard to put down once started.

This is a tense and at times uncomfortable psychological thriller that twists and turns its way from a whirlwind romance into a controlling, abusive relationship. When Callie meets the handsome and charismatic actor Duncan, she can’t believe he is attracted to her. After moving in together Callie is increasingly isolated and that’s when Duncan begins to reveal his true nature as a controlling and vindictive monster. After months of systematic abuse Callie has no alternative but to try to escape.
The novel is set in 2 timelines, past and present, which are clearly defined and easy to follow. Nowhere To Hide has a fast-paced plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat with a menacing undercurrent running throughout. The author does an amazing job of expressing Callies terror at the thought that Duncan will eventually find her.
The characters were realistic, complex, well developed and richly drawn in this tense, addictive read. The premise is not new, but the author captures the horror and isolation of an abusive relationship.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for the ARC.

Beevis is one of my absolute favourite thriller authors and Nowhere to Hide is up there as one of my favourites.

It's dark, disturbing and the psychological side may be a trigger for some as there are many scenes of mental and physical abuse, gaslighting and narcissistic behaviour.

It's a fast paced read, that's high on suspense and shock factor. I devoured it in two sittings, the plot is so addictive and twisty.

The characters are brilliant and I went through every emotion with Callie and hoped throughout that harm would befall Duncan, so he couldn't indoctrinate anyone else with his poisonous traits.

A page turning thriller that I wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

HOLY CRAP!! This book was INTENSE! This in my top thrillers of 2024. It was absolutely gripping, yet extremely emotional. Talk about twisted! I was in a chokehold from the very beginning all the way until the end. This was a beautifully written thriller. There was so much suspense buildup that I had to pause multiple times to calm myself down. The characters are well developed and complex. The author did a great job writing characters that were real. This is my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. She is moving to my auto-buy list. This was truly unputdownable.

I hated Duncan, and loved Callie. I found myself rooting for Callie, and I wanted to see her happy and thriving. I felt uncomfortable during some of the depictions of what Callie went through, but those descriptive scenes are part of what made this book great. It also made me feel for women who live through situations like this daily.

I went from being angry to sad to scared to anxious to happy...all the feelings were felt during this story. Beevis did a great job creating an emotional, riveting, suspenseful, gripping and twisty thriller!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Nowhere to hide by Keri Beevis was due to be published April 2nd 2024 by Boldeood books.

Keri you have done it again with this unputdownable book. I swear every time I read another one from her the more she becomes my favorite author. I have not read a book by her I haven’t liked and seriously cannot wait for her next ones. I’ll try to wait patiently!

Duncan Stone, is one of the country's most sought-after bachelors, and sweeps Callie Parker off her feet with his charming attention. Initially flattered and excited by their whirlwind romance, Callie's dream turns into a nightmare as she discovers Duncan's true nature-he's controlling and manipulative. Cut off frothier support network, Callie finds herself trapped and isolated, realizing she needs to escape to survive. Seeking refuge in the Norfolk countryside, she grapples with fear and paranoia, haunted by the sense of being watched. As the tension escalates, Callie questions whether Duncan has found her or if the danger lurks closer to home!

Thank you Boldwood books , Keri Beevis and Netgalley!

Kerri Beevis has written a masterful, horrifying, suspenseful story about a young woman betrayed and tortured by a brutal sadist. *warning: some descriptions in this book might be triggering.*

Callie has fallen for the handsome movie star, Duncan, and he sweeps her off her feet. As time goes on, he reveals his true self as a controlling, violent man. Callie is desperate to escape, until she devises the seemingly perfect plan.

This book will had me on pins and needles, until the stunning ending!

Thank you to NetGalley well, I don’t need to have this on and Boldwood Books for the ARC. My review is given freely and honestly.

I pulled an all-nighter with this one, it’s twisty and definitely a quick read! Micaela “Callie” Parker meets and is instantly smitten with movie star Duncan Stone. They quickly become an item, things are amazing until one day he snapped. Then it became more days and soon Mica as he likes to call her decides to escape. This was intense and suspenseful. Thanks to Boldwood Books for a copy.

Just like all of Keri Beevis's books, this was a complete page-turner and I could not put it down! I don't have a single complaint about it. I was hooked right from the first page and stayed up late into the night reading it well past my bedtime :)

Wow wow wow what a read. Honestly this is the stuff of nightmares what this poor woman was escaping from and to know that for some people this is their life is just heartbreaking and terrifying. This book felt very authentic and I fell totally in love with the lead character and her story. I won’t spoil it but it’s a shocking and powerful ending and not to be missed. Do not read this book if scenes of abuse are triggering however.

This was a fast read.l! There was so much going on and I lived loving every second of it. This is a thriller you will read in just one sitting. The fast pace kept me reading for more. . I have read all of Beevis’s thrillers and enjoyed them. If you like a twisty thriller, this one is for you. Many thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Nowhere to Hide hooked me from the very first line all the way to the satisfying ending. I have to admit to canceling other plans as I was so intent on protecting Callie, and her dog, Chester. Callie, aka Michaela, aka Mica, was swept off her feet by the handsome movie star, Duncan Stone. Oh the mask Duncan wore! Slowly but surely she was isolated, criticized and emotionally and physically abused in such horrific ways - seemingly in a true to reality way. Keri has certainly opened eyes to the monster that hides unseen in so many abusers…even among the rich and famous.
I found myself comparing the depressed childhoods of both Duncan and Nico, and then comparing the effects their childhoods played in determining their actions and values as adults. Having had the honor of teaching so very many children with similar circumstances as children, this dichotomy remained in the forefront for me. Nico’s gentle caring ways were such a contrast to Duncan’s purely evil ways. Thank you Keri Beevis for putting a bright light on domestic abuse, depicting just how traumatizing it can be for the way too many victims who can’t find their way out.
I so appreciated Lauren’s ability to see through what was going on with Callie and the role she played with both Chester and Callie.
Keri Beevis kept the suspense ratcheted up and the action nonstop, keeping the reader so very invested in caring for Callie and Chester, as well as Nico. Definitely a five star read.
Many many thanks to Keri Beevis for providing me with hours of total immersion in a riveting story, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for providing me with an arc of this thriller that should be a best seller, publishing on April 2.
