Duncan Stone is one of the country's most eligible and handsome bachelors, and he wants to take me, Callie Parker, on a date. At first I am surprised and flattered, the envy of my friends. Then when our whirlwind romance escalates and he asks me to move in with him, it's like a dream come true. But as I get to really know my new boyfriend, my fairytale turns into a nightmare.

Evil creepy boyfriend thrillers are my guilty pleasure, and Nowhere to Hide lives up to the hype. I loved the creep factor, was scared to death for Callie, and loved the twists and turns along the way. I could have done without the animal cruelty, but it does add to Duncan's character. Overall, definitely enjoyed this page turner!

Keri Beevis does it again! Nowhere to Hide is a dark, gripping psychological thriller from chapter one. An addictive page-turner. Callie Parker meets Duncan Stone, a philanthropic movie star, or so it seems. After a whirlwind romance, things quickly turn sinister. Will Callie be able to escape this life she’s fallen into?

I felt this book was fast-paced and engaging. Duncan is a horrible, horrible man. It really makes you hate him. Through the book, we learn of Callie’s resilience and the lengths she’ll go to in order to free herself from a horrific nightmare.

Thank you so much for the ARC, Netgalley and Keri Beevis!

I love Keri Beevis. I started this late at night and then kept at it well past my bedtime. I was so scared for Callie! I love the scene and all the characters and I especially loved those twists at the end.

📚 PRE-PUBLICATION BOOK REVIEW 📚

Nowhere To Hide
By Keri Beevis
Publication Date: April 2, 2024

📚MY RATING:

⭐⭐⭐✨

📚THE SYNOPSIS:

Duncan Stone is one of the country's most eligible bachelors, and he wants to take Callie Parker on a date. At first, Callie is flattered, the envy of her friends. When the whirlwind romance escalates and he asks her to move in with him, it's like a dream come true. But the fairytale turns into a nightmare. Duncan is no Prince Charming - he is the Devil. Soon, Callie is isolated, watched day and night, a prisoner in her own life. She knows escaping is her only way to survive.

When a chance encounter with an old friend throws Callie a lifeline, she realises this is a live or die moment. She finds a hiding place deep in the Norfolk countryside, where she is supposed to feel safe...but why does she hear footsteps outside her hideaway late at night, and sense that someone is watching her? Is it paranoia, or has Duncan managed to find her? Perhaps the danger is closer to home than she realises.

📚MY REVIEW:

A perusing of other reviews for this book called it "chillingly disturbing" and "darkly gripping," an "atmospheric thriller." These phrases aren't wrong. This truly was a disturbing and chilling thriller, from the very first page until the end.

With that being said, I believe titling this book "Trigger Warnings" would have been apropos. Many parts of the book were filled with sordid details of sickening and cruel domestic violence, as well as animal abuse, which is a hard "no" for me. I have been trying to read this book for a couple weeks now, but I had to keep putting it down because I wasn't sure I wanted to finish it. Because of the other rave reviews, I pushed through to finish (albeit begrudgingly). The pace of the book was good and it was laid out well to really build the suspense. But the details of the domestic violence in the story were A LOT. And combined with animal cruelty? Nope, not for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.

If you have to read one book this year, go and read this one... it will truly take your breath away at the horrors that this poor Callie went through. You will never see a dog crate in the same way after reading this book. Keri Beevis perfects the art of taking us with Callie into a spiral of terror... it is really a dense book but I loved it. #NowheretoHide #NetGalley

My first by this author and I absolutely loved it. Thrilling until the end, switching between past and present. If you like domestic thrillers, you’ll enjoy this one

Keri Beevis does it again! I can’t get enough of her books!

When Callie meets handsome, retired movie star Duncan Stone shes instantly taken. They have a whirlwind romance, and she quickly moves into his home. At first her life is a dream, and she is in love, but it doesn’t take long for Duncan’s true colors to shine through. Her life is turned upside down, and she must escape his grasp in order to save her life.

Callie goes into hiding at Willow Brook Farm, the home of an old friend. She is slowly starting to rebuild her life when a tragic event occurs that will threaten her newfound freedom.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go. While not an original storyline, the action and suspense are non stop. There’s not a dull moment. It’s a wild ride and I can’t wait to read the next book Ms. Beevis writes!

This is a must read thriller. When Callie has a whirlwind romance with Duncan, it feels like a dream come true. Then the fairytale turns into a nightmare. She ends up a prisoner in her own home and knows she needs to escape. Will she escape the clutches of a controlling man? Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this

Callie Parker believes Duncan Stone, a much sought after celebrity bachelor, is the man of her dreams, instead, it becomes a nightmare of horrendous proportions. She has to escape and with the help of an old friend she’s now deep in the Norfolk countryside, praying that she will be safe. Her shocking experiences have made her hyperaware, is she right to her fears and paranoia or is she safe at Stable Cottage on Willow Brook Farm? Who can she trust?

It’s inevitable that a book that has domestic violence as a central premise is not an easy read, indeed, it’s very uncomfortable at times. However, it does enable you to fully understand the horrifying intensity as Callie navigates the awful chameleon character of the odious Duncan. It breaks your heart and the tension and suspense on occasions is palpable, if not off the charts. Callie is clearly very vulnerable, but she’s also resilient with a desire to survive, and of course, you absolutely root for her. She has much to put up with it with and gaslighting is the very least of it and it chills your bones.

The storytelling is fast paced, there’s a lot going on including a sub plot in Norfolk, which connects well to the main plot. There are multiple twists and turns of a dangerous ‘game’ of cat and mouse which gets darker and darker and increasingly dangerous.

The Norfolk setting is really good, it’s described well too. Callie’s love of Chester the dog shines through and thankfully he’s not harmed.

Overall, this is a well written psychological thriller with a realistic depiction of what Callie suffers, and which makes you feel desperate on her behalf. It’s hard to put down, it’s heart pounding in places but has an ending that makes me cheer.

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Boldwood Books for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

Keri Beevis does it again with Nowhere to Hide. This is a gripping thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
This one is a twisted, emotional, and a deeply disturbing read filled that you won't be able to put down.
I finished this in just one day because I couldn't pull myself away from it. This is a fast paced read with well developed characters. I really liked that this was told in the past with details on how they met and their relationship, and in the present; after she escapes.

Callie Parker was living a dream, a dream that quickly turned into a nightmare. She is newly-engaged to A-list actor Duncan Stone, whose good looks and charm thrill women around the world. Any woman would be lucky to be in Duncan’s arms - at least that’s what people think. In reality, Duncan is a sadistic abuser who will eventually kill Callie - and she knows it.

It took her a long time to confide in someone about the torture and beatings she is dealing with, but as soon as her friend Laurel gets involved, Callie makes a dangerous plan. Laurel’s brother Nico lives a secluded life, and can help Callie hide if she leaves. It takes all of her courage, but she soon finds herself leaving Devon and moving to Norfolk.

This soon becomes very similar to the movie “Sleeping With The Enemy”. Callie pretended to drown, but Duncan has his doubts. He always told Callie that if she left, he would hunt her down and kill her. Since they never found her body (because she wasn’t dead), he starts doing his own investigating. Nobody suspects that this handsome man is a monster - with his celebrity status, he has a lot of contacts and a lot of power.

The story plays out quickly, as this is definitely a horrifying and tense page-turner. Callie just wants her normal life back. Duncan just wants to make sure Callie is dead, and he will do whatever it takes to not be the bad man scorned. If the public ever finds out about his violent private life, his career will be ruined. The whole book is just a cat and mouse game until the ending, which was quite suspenseful, even if slightly cliche. 4.5 stars.

(Thank you to Boldwood Books, Keri Beevis and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on April 2, 2024.)

Title: Nowhere To Hide by Keri Beevis
Pub Date: April 2, 2024

⭐ 4/5

TW: domestic violence, torture, suicide emetophobia

Callie thought she'd hit the jackpot when she landed ex-movie star turned philanthropist, Duncan Stone, but as the relationship grew so did his possessive and aggressive nature. Desperate to escape, she reconnects with an old friend and begins her new life with cautious optimism. Will she ever truly be free?

Nowhere To Hide is a gripping domestic thriller where a woman will do whatever it takes to escape her Prince Charming turned beastly. I felt so many emotions reading this, from desperate frustration and disgust, to hope and excitement. I loved the romantic subplot, it really eased the awful torture in other chapters. Callie deserves the world. Such a great, quick thriller.

Thank you so much Boldwood Books and @netgalley for letting me read and review!

I seem to be saying this a lot of late but again this is my favourite ( so far ) book by one of my favourite authors
A despicable evil psycho/socio/narci in the form of famous actor Duncan makes this book a tummy wrenching read, he is the epitome of bad but written so well you will be steaming at his wilful abuse ( mental and physical ) of his unassuming girlfriend Callie, the blurb states he is the devil, he is, be prepared for him…
I have to say in case you start and worry that no animals are harmed in the making of the story even if you think they are going to be
The story just doesn’t let up from the get go right through to the pounding end and the interwoven ‘extra’ stories add more excitement not distraction
Great characters although I cant warn you enough re Duncan, top story telling and surprisingly dark twists make this a superb read, loved it

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC to review! This does not in any way shape or form alter my opinion/rating of this book.
I believe that this book is well thought out and written but it did not really hold my attention and took me a while to finish despite how short it is. I did like the twists and turns that we had throughout the book however the suspense of it all fell a little short for me. I have grown a strong hatred for the main antagonist/villain in the book and sought out a HEA for the FMC because she deserved it. I love the message that this book brought across that two people could be raised abused and neglected but both individuals may take that experience a differently growing into adulthood. The writing was easy to follow, not confusing. A good cabin read! Rating 3/5 stars

Wow what a great read. This one had me
On the edge of my seat praying for Callie. The twist towards the end was quite unexpected. I now have a new author to follow.

You meet the man of your dreams, but soon it seems like he is the man of your worst nightmares. The only thing you can do is to run as far away as you can...

This must be one of the most awful feelings. Your confidence level is below zero and even when you are in a safe place, you still cannot stop looking over your shoulder, expecting to see your tormentor.

bullies think they are so wonderful, but the truth is they are the biggest cowards in the world. They feel strong, but ti's because they pick their victims carefully. They only threaten those they are convinced they can overpower. Once the meet someone who overpowers them, they cry like babies.

I love dogs and I love stories featuring dogs, but I am always afraid that something will happen to them and I know I would not be able to keep on reading if a character would really be cruel to a canine. That why I adored Callie who would give her life to keep her furry friend safe and sound. Duncan on the other hand is all charm in public, but one of the most despicable people behind closed doors.

I regularly felt uncomfortable and sick whilst reading and in my opinion this means the author made it all very real if she can have this effect on her readers.

It feels a bit weird saying I loved this book because of the subject, but I guess you know what I mean. It was well written and I felt chills running down my spine during certain scenes. 5 stars

Thank you

A gripping thriller about a woman escaping an abusive relationship. The story takes a twist on the farm where she is hiding out! I enjoyed most of this story, at times I felt like there were too many things going on, but it all came together! Thank you for the early access NetGalley!

When I saw this was one of those evil boyfriend stories, I prepared for the same old manipulation and cruelty inflicted upon the oblivious heroine plot. And don’t get me wrong, it is that. But there’s also more, and I’m so glad the author didn’t let me down, she’s too good for a storyline that’s already been done to death. Callie Parker is the clueless female and Duncan Stone is the wealthy and famous man that she starts dating. I’ll spare too many details as we know how it goes: he’s perfect at first, but once she moves in with him in the large, isolated estate he suddenly changes, treats her terribly, she vows to leave, he apologizes, she stays, etc. Once she finally wakes up and decides to leave, it’s too late, as she’s essentially a prisoner in her own home.

The story is told in two timeframes – in the present, just after she escapes, and, in the past, detailing how they meet and their relationship up until the present timeframe. So we know she does get away and discovering how she does it is the best part of the ‘past’ timeline. The storyline in the present is more action-packed and has several twists, just when you weren’t expecting them. I saw one coming but don’t let that fool you, there are plenty of times that will leave you like "Whaaaat!"

I feel like overall, the author did her best to add her touch to an overused ‘evil spouse/partner’ plot. But still, it’s one we’ve seen enough of. I hope that her next book is fresh and full of surprises like her readers have grown accustomed to.
