Beevis does it again. Anther spine chilling novel. Make for disturbing reading in places, but also thought provoking.
The cruelty that one person can inflict on another was distressing to read about. But then you think some people go through that daily. It is scary.
Not a read for the fainthearted, but page turning good in an odd way.
Overall a good domestic violence thriller. It is definitely well crafted and the characters, although a tad stereotypical are three dimensional and believable. The author does capture very well the horror of being frightened, literally for your life by someone who is supposed to love you. Some of the violence was hard to stomach (and yes, undoubtedly for those who are abused too),
My first book by this author and I will give her other books a go
Wow! What a wonderful book! I was invested in the story from the first chapter.
This was a nail-biting, atmospheric thriller with sharp twists, and deeply disturbing plot.
It was not an easy read due to the trauma, abuse, and manipulation that the main character Callie went through. However, the story was intertwined with a beautiful romance and hope which was very unique for this type of thriller.
I enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster, dual timeline, and multiple POVs. All of the character felt authentic and added to the story. I found the ending very satisfying.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC that was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
I very much enjoyed this book. The characters were likable and the story was engaging. I would recommend this book to others.

Where do I start! Literally couldn’t put this down! Loved it! Fast, thrilling , emotional it was
All of these! Highly recommend
Huge Keri Beevis fan! Love getting the opportunity to read her books early! Nowhere to hide.. wow emotional, gripping and twisted ! And I loved every minute of it!
A terrible, compulsive telling of an abusive and deadly relationship. Life seems perfect when Callie moves in with film star Duncan Stone, but everything turns to disaster when his violent and controlling personality are gradually revealed. Convincing characters and a twisting and suspense filled plot make this a gripping read.
I a big fan of this author she never disappoints. Allways an addictive read. Callie has a job she loves .and her pet Chester for company. She is not very close to her dad or sister. they always look down at her. her work mates are her friends. And then at work she meets. Duncan stone the tv star. he sweeps her of her feet. And she moves in with him.at first he so attentive. Then he changes. he has his friend Rob working as security and he not the nicest. first comes the controlling then the abuse. but of course, it's not his fault its Callies. The one scene.in garage would so love to do to Duncan. he has taken her friends from her, so she has no one. until one night she meets her old friend. Laurel who helps her to get out with Nico help. won't say no more but a very addictive read.so recommend this author.
We first meet Callie when she's arrived at a train station, shaking and clutching a plastic bag containing just a photo frame, no spare clothes or ID. She's taken to a place of safety. Or is it?
Story lines like this, where a woman flees from a coercive and brutal partner, tend to follow a certain pattern. I won't deny that Nowhere to Hide follows the format, but it's well written and the characters develop to make us care about them. Beevis is quite sparing with detail about the friend who comes to Callie's rescue, but she's the unsung hero of the story.
Callie becomes less terrified as the story develops, although there's a sub plot with a missing girl that gives her additional cause for worry.
The nosey neighbour Faye was getting on my nerves, quite rightly as it turns out.
Duncan is a magnificent creation as the ultimate tyrant. I'm sure he rings true for some women, who would be best off avoiding this book. It was sad that he managed to gas light Callie's family into believing he was a good man, and Callie was undergoing some sort of breakdown. This is what coercive control is all about.
The dramatic finale has me on the edge of my seat, and it's a spectacular showdown.
A bold and confident second novel from Keri Beevis.
4.5 stars rounded up for Goodreads and Netgalley!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book was very difficult to read-yet I binged it completely. Very early on in the book we begin to see Duncan's red flags and how he scopes out Callie to be his victim. From the way he so quickly works to isolate her and make her completely dependent on him, to him destroying her confidence and berating her at every turn. Was this a plot I've seen before, yes, I have. However, what separates this book from others is the author's use of different POVs, including one from the abuser himself. Getting a look into his sick and twisted mind made for a much more interesting read rather than relying on the perspectives of other characters. Did it make me hate him more? YES! but did it also make for an even more intriguing and enthralling read? also YES!
Keri Beevis didn't play around with this one and held nothing back, she didn't try to sugar coat what being in a relationship with a gaslighting, abusive narcissist was like. She completely pulled me into this story, and I was sick to my stomach half the time with what Callie endured at the hands of this monster. I was thinking that this was going to be a simple domestic thriller read but nothing could have prepared for what I just read, then that complete twist at the end...talk about betrayal!!!! Mon Dieu!
I was shaken as I really did not see that one coming.
This is not a book for the faint of heart, though the author tactfully deals with very heavy subject matter, it's still a very emotional and disturbing read, and should be read with caution.
Keri Beevis has done it yet again for me. This is another book that I will be thinking about for a long time.
WOWZA!!! What an utterly gripping, profoundly emotional and deeply twisted psychological thriller, inducing anxiety and keeping me in a chokehold right up to the very end!! Once I delved into this book, I found it incredibly difficult to tear myself away, and I finished it in a single day! This addictive thriller enthralls you with its fast paced action, relentless cat-and-mouse dynamics, and heart-pounding tension. With riveting suspense and unpredictable twists at every corner, it keeps you guessing until the final page. The characters are complex and richly developed, weaving a web of gaslighting, lies, and vengeful pursuits. This is my first read by Keri Beevis and it exceeded my expectations, leaving me eagerly anticipating more of her work. I thoroughly relished this engrossing read and it has already secured a spot among my top thrillers for 2024!! 💙💙💙💙💙
Duncan Stone, one of the country's most sought-after bachelors, sweeps Callie Parker off her feet with his charming attention. Initially flattered and excited by their whirlwind romance, Callie's dream turns into a nightmare as she discovers Duncan's true nature-he's controlling and manipulative. Cut off frothier support network, Callie finds herself trapped and isolated, realizing she needs to escape to survive. Seeking refuge in the Norfolk countryside, she grapples with fear and paranoia, haunted by the sense of being watched. As the tension escalates, Callie questions whether Duncan has found her or if the danger lurks closer to home!
Truthfully, I have to admit the discomfort I felt during certain unsettling scenes, particularly the depiction of abuse endured by the female main character, it's essential to recognize the sobering reality that many women face similar ordeals in real life. Books like this serve as powerful tools for raising awareness about the pervasive issues of domestic abuse and coercive control, shedding light on the often overlooked struggles of survivors. By confronting these uncomfortable truths, literature plays a crucial role in fostering empathy, understanding, and advocacy for those affected by such atrocities.
If you crave a compelling and unputdownable psychological thriller packed with intense emotions that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then look no further because this book is a perfect fit for you!! I highly recommend it and believe it deserves all the stars!! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trigger warnings: domestic abuse and controlling partner
Loved this fast paced thriller! Callie is involved with a famous actor, the man of her dreams. He seems perfect until she moves in with him then bit by bit he reveals his true nature. He lives by his mother’s advice that when you find the one never let them go. This book pulled me in from the start and kept my interest throughout. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.
This thriller had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! Callie’s whirlwind romance with the handsome Duncan quickly turns into a nightmare when his charming exterior hides a dangerously controlling man. The build-up of tension as Callie realizes she needs to escape is excruciating. Just when she thinks she has found a safe hiding place, the suspense ramps up even further, making me wonder if Duncan has tracked her down or if the danger is coming from someone else. The twists and turns kept me guessing until the very last page.
This fast-paced psychological thriller sucks you in and doesn’t let go. With a compelling lead character and a villain that made my skin crawl, this book hits all the marks for an exceptional read. A must for any thriller fan or reader who likes stories with strong female protagonists. Keri’s books improve with every book she writes. In my opinion, this is the best of all she has done so far. This one should be on top of your TBR pile! I highly recommend reading it. Five big stars!
Thank you to Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
One word..........BRILLIANT
I soon whizzed through this.
When Callie falls for a handsome celebrity and he notices her, callie thinks this is her forever..... but is it???? Duncan Stone is used to getting his own way and callie soon comes to realise he is trying to isolate her from everything she knows. He chooses what she wears, locks her in the house...... callie needs to leave and soon when an opportunity arises laurel her old friend from university helps her and sends her to spend time with her brother Nico in the middle of nowhere. Duncan will never find her or will he?
Great book as always from this author, i was turning the pages early into the morning, i had to finish it.
This is a bloody terrific book, the main character is a person you can feel for, understand, want the best for & have a life afterwards. The main protagonist is a charming & good looking but OMG does he have a Jekyll & Hyde personality. It’s a fast paced book that I throughly enjoyed & felt for the characters (all of them). I got emotionally invested in them & wanted to know the end as soon as possible but also didn’t want the book to end.
Callie Parker’s dream romance with Duncan Stone turns into a life of domestic abuse. She must flee to the country and hide. Callie does not know if she can ever trust anyone ever again, even Nico who is helping to hide to her. Will Duncan find her? It is a riveting story that had me addicted from the first page!
When Duncan Stone, one of the country’s most eligible bachelors and A-list star invites Callie Parker on a date she is, shall we say “over the moon.” After a whirlwind romance, he asks her to move in to top it all off. Unfortunately, things aren’t what they seem with Duncan and her happily-ever-after turns into a nightmare. Can she escape, or will Duncan try to find her?
I had previously read The People Next Door and Trust No One by Keri Beevis so I was thrilled to get this book!
Callie goes to live with her friend, Laurel, and Laurel’s adopted brother, Nico, to get away from Duncan. There is a dual timeline between Callie’s time with Duncan and her time with Laurel and Nico.
Trigger warning – there were manyparts of this hard to read – the way Duncan treated Callie and her dog. Had I known there was this much domestic abuse (physical and psychological), I probably would not have gotten this book – Duncan is pure EVIL. Also, there was torture and animal abuse.
I did finish the book but could only give it three stars – too much abuse and torture for me – I enjoy thrillers without that aspect.
This is one of those crazy I-can't-put-it-down titles that I love to hate! Callie is enamored with her new boyfriend, movie star Duncan Stone and she quickly moves in with him, only to discover that he's overly controlling and vindictive when she doesn't do EXACTLY what he wants. Of course she must take drastic action as he's popular and no one will believe her as he could have any woman he wants. The plot vacillates between "now" and "then as we see her convoluted scheme to not only get away from his abuse, but also to exact revenge for his lies and mistreatment. It's a cat-and-mouse game that ratchets up the tension on every page! I'll be reading more of Beevis in the future!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
I just finished reading this book and it is hard to find the words to describe what I am feeling. This book was a little hard to read because some parts got pretty intense, yet I was unable to put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen. The writing is great, as it always is with Keri Beevis. The characters are well written. Some you will love, others you will hate, but all are believable and make this book a must-read for psych thriller fans.
