This novel was great, as I expected it to be, Reichs never fails to engage. This novel hits home in a number of ways and keeps the reader interested throughout using the bond between a parent and their child.
Great writing style as always, although a little difficult to get into, the novel really picks up around the halfway mark.
definitely something for crime fiction and thriller fans. a great read
I have read a lot of Kathy Reichs, but the work started to feel a bit samey. When given the opportunity to read this installment, I went in with some trepidation. It was warranted. The subplots felt forced, in particular the dialogues often left me scratching my head. I know the whole relationship Brennan has with Ryan is meant to be casual and not serious, but her lack of regard for his well being was weird.
The only thing that makes this book readable is the fact that Reichs is a superb creator of descriptive crime work. It's whenever Brennan is working that it feels the most real and the most readable. The rest was just jarring.
