What another fabulous book in the Cornish Cove series this one is. Returning to some of the characters to catch up with things going on in their lives as well as learning more about them and newer characters is great.
This one focuses on Lydia, she is Meredith's mum and they have reconnected after many years. There is a past that gradually emerges and it is a chance for pasts to be dealt with. Lydia is enjoying being in her 70s and she is a very capable lady who does not feel old and has plenty of things to look forward to. She is given the chance for some new opportunities and a chance to do something she thought she never would. She has been married before and she is deciding if she needs a relationship or if she is happy in her own company. Living in this community of Driftwood is a way of finding herself if you like.
Along with Lydia and Meredith, we have Clem and his Dad Martin, a new neighbour and the vocal and wonderful Vi. Everyone needs a Vi in their lives, and they probably know someone similar... I am saying nothing about who she occasionally reminds me of! I think this is wonderful about this author's characters, they feel familiar and that is not just through reading the books in order, but that they do remind you of people you already know in everyday life. I think this is what makes this series so good and for me, it means the balance is right.
With new starts and fresh opportunities, things are going well, but there are some more serious aspects that the author brings in. This does leave a cloud over things and these are dealt with as any of us do in reality. We dwell and overthink and wonder about the what-ifs. Don't think this means the book is down and moody because it never is, the author knows her characters too well to let them suffer in silence. They do live in a close-knit community after all.
There are some wonderful heartwarming moments in this book and I will admit to a tear or two at some scenes. This is a fabulous book and would work as a stand-alone, but reading in order helps with the continuing stories of what are becoming regulars. One for fans of heartwarming contemporary fiction and romance, with some very humorous moments and great characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a wonderful, heartwarming book. I enjoyed it a lot!
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I loved being back in Driftwood Bay.
The story is mainly about Lydia, who is Meredith’s Mum, and she wants to make up for lost time, as well as to rebuild their relationship.
She’s been married five times, and now she wants to do some self exploration.
I loved that the community is always there to help others in need. It was nice to meet the characters from previous books, and catch up to see what’s happening in their lives.
There was some sensitive topics covered in the story.
Reading this book, tells you to never give up your dreams.
I recommend this book.
"Making Memories at the Cornish Cove" by Kim Nash. What can I say other than I enjoyed it and read over a couple days. Who doesn’t want to escape to a small village by the sea...
The setting of a tiny village called Driftwood Bay sounded breathtaking, I could picture it especially as I have visited small villages along the coast of England. It had everything you could want in a story love, family, community and second chances.
I found the characters to be well developed, and multi-dimensional. There were multiple sub-plots like the dancing competition, the relationship with her daughter to keep you engaged and interested in the outcome. It’s a great series, and I can’t wait to pick up Meredith’s story in the next book!
I will definitely read other books by this author.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Boldwood Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lovey read and gorgeous setting, great characters and very descriptive, couldn’t put it down til I obviously got to the end, loved it!
I am a massive fan of Kim Nash’s books, especially her ‘Cornish Cove’ series which can be read as standalones too. I have just finished the third book ‘Making Memories at the Cornish Cove’
In this story we meet Meredith’s mother, Lydia. Meredith moved to Driftwood Bay a few years before and Lydia has moved to be closer to her. Lydia is also making connections of her own with Martin who is Meredith’s partner’s dad. Can Lydia make amends in Driftwood Bay?
I absolutely loved reading a book where the female main character is older, Lydia is 71 and is full of life experiences. I also loved being back to reading a familiar setting in Driftwood Bay. It sounds like an amazing place to live.
Although there is some romance in this book, what I enjoyed more was witnessing the relationship between Lydia and her daughter. I flew through this story and it was just such a tonic. A huge warm hug in a book and I for one loved it.
I honestly can’t wait to read more by Kim as she has a way of transporting you to a different world. This story is full of family, friendship and a bit of love to boot 💖
Thank you to Boldwood books for an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wonderful series. I loved this book and the relationships between the characters. I may even have wiped a tear away at the end. I highly recommend this book and everything this Author writes. Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
Lydia has been married five times and after her last divorce decides to move to driftwood bay to be near her daughter.
She becomes friends with Martin and helps him restore peoples precious items.
They become close friends and Lydia wants to take part in the local dance contest and starts to practise with Martin when she has a bad fall while hanging flower baskets and badley sprains her ankle.
A Lovley story about freindship and love in later life.
Another fantastic novel with great characters and settings. This is the latest in this series and if you haven't read the other books I recommend you do. 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for this ARC
A fantastic instalment in the Cornish Cove series. Fresh starts, mending relationships and fixing broken hearts. Well written and a great read.
I loved this installment and visit back to Driftwood Bay. This time the story centres on Lydia. Lydia is Meredith's mum and she comes back to Driftwood bay to try and make a mends and rebuild her relationship with her daughter, but also after several divorces, she needed to find herself.
The sense of community in this book is amazing and so so charming. We meet characters from the previous books and they provide some comedy moments as well. It also covers some pretty big and current issues as well. It is so refreshing to read a book where the main characters are older.
This was a story about how it's never too late to follow your dreams and find yourself along the way. It would be the perfect beach read. Really easy to read, sweet, romantic and the perfect book to lose yourself in for a few hours.
Really enjoyed this latest instalment of this series, I like the the characters and setting and look forward to the next one!
I like reading about more mature characters and also the mother-daughter relationship and I found both in this novel. This is a heartwarming story set in a small seaside town. The characters are nice and together they create a very supporting community. There are some twists and turns in the plot, and there is some worry, too, but 'All's well that ends well'.
I can recommend this novel to anyone whowants a peaceful couple of hours with a nice book.
What a delight! The Cornish Cove series by Kim Nash is such a wonderful, lovely, and heartwarming series. It is like a breath of fresh air. I love how this series focuses on community, friendship, family, relationships, and real-life issues. Like the other books in the series, Making Memories at the Cornish Cove is well written, charming, and a joy to read.
Lydia has moved to Driftwood Bay to be closer to her daughter, Meredith. After being married five times, Lydia is ready to focus on herself and the one love she gave up - dancing. She brushes off her old dancing shoes, finds a dance partner in Martin, a widower who owns the local antique restoration business.
I love how Kim Nash has the characters experiencing real life issues such as injury, loss, grief, health issues, marriage, and aging. I appreciate how her characters react and behave in realistic and understandable ways. As I mentioned above, I love the focus on community and friendship. This book has a positive and heartwarming message, it's never too late to start over or pursue your dreams. That second chances exist, humor is the best medicine, and there is power in positive relationships.
Delightful, heartwarming, and well written.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Great little book. Didn’t realise until I was halfway through that this is from a series. It didn’t matter and the story was great anyway. I have this series pencilled away to catch up on.
I liked the relationships between Meredith and Lydia and the friendships between them and Martin and Dianna!
This was a lovely sunny book filled with warmth and friendships
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange on an honest review.
A wonderfully bright colourful cover
Driftwood Bay, anyone who has read the previous books will have been excited to return…and so was I, I have loved the books and always enjoy my temporary stay in the beautiful village
We meet Lydia, Meredith’s Mum, who has decided time is of the essence and wants to rekindle her relationship with her daughter….and while she is at it how about a bit of dancing in the Bay’s ballroom comp
Things don’t always run smoothly of course and we have a story of love, laughter, tears and hope
I love the characters, every one and soooo enjoy the atmosphere of the book and story , Vi is a ‘one’ and very funny with her inappropriateness that she manages to get away with, I think we all know a Vi 😀
Kim Nash never fails to uplift and hug you with her books, its great to ‘feel good’ whilst reading and this book and series makes you feel that way, constantly
A lovely dedication from the author sets the tone for the book
As always it was a pleasure being at Driftwood Bay and spending time with the fab characters 🤗
What a treat I've had. I got to read these books back to back. I reread the first book just to freshen myself with the characters and it was just as good the 2nd time around. I then dived into book 2, as soon as I finished that I started book 3. I could have happily continued if more books were available. I could read about Driftwood Bay, the characters and the goings on all day long. I want to live in Driftwood Bay.
I'm loving how the author has decided not to just focus on one couple/person through these books and has chosen to keep the area as a focus and allow us to follow the lives of the different character that live there.
In this outing we follow the life of Lydia. What a great character she was. After 5 husbands Lydia proves there is 'life in the old dog yet'. A repaired relationship with her daughter Lydia shows that if you can, you should. a great attitude to life.
By the time I had read this book I really felt like I'd spent time with some old friends. I felt like I knew so much about the characters that I actually knew them as people. Not just a beautiful read but a very realistic, uplifting, escapism read. I'm a huge fan of Crime thrillers but having read one of this authors books, I have had to read each and everyone since. There are not many authors that can take me away from my usual reads but Kim Nash has become a must read author for me and I will admit I often go in blind not having read what the book is about. I don't need to, I know I'll love it.
Get yourself a cuppa and a big piece of cake and get stuck in. This really is a beautiful uplifting read. Bravo Miss Nash for making me smile, laugh and maybe shed a tear or two. This series has been just the tonic I needed right now.

An absolutely gorgeous book that stole my heart.
So many touching moments that had me emotional.
Easy to read and get swept along with the characters who I felt like I already knew.
I adored it!
Many thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an early copy.
Despite romance not being my usual genre, I absolutely love the Driftwood Bay series, so I've been looking forward to Making Memories At The Cornish Cove since I finished the previous book, and it did not disappoint! I love Kim Nash's easy style of writing and how she effortlessly transports us to Driftwood Bay. Her descriptions are beautiful, so much so that I really want to live there myself, but it's the sense of community that really draws me in. The characters’ relationships with each other are often complex, but so we'll drawn, and I love the way that Kim Nash reintroduced characters from her previous books which reinforces that sense of community.
The protagonist of Making Memories At The Cornish Cove is Lydia Robinson, the mother of Meredith, who is a regular character throughout the series. Kim Nash has previously touched upon the relationship between Lydia and Meredith, but I loved seeing how things happened from Lydia's side and getting to know her better. Lydia clearly has a colourful past and I loved learning more about this and how she became the person we see in the novel.
There are some real laugh out loud moments in Making Memories At The Cornish Cove, which I really enjoyed, but as always, Kim Nash touches on some much more serious issues and she is brilliant at this. She makes some poignant observations about the importance of memories and family, particularly as we get older, which gave me pause for thought as I was reading.
I really hope there is more to come from this series.
Lydia is Meredith’s mum, and she has settled well in the bay. Except, sometimes she feels lonely, even though she keeps herself busy and involved in their wonderful community.
Martin is Clem’s dad, and he does a lot of restoration work, which Lydia also helps him with. They are the best of friends and are always having a laugh.
When Lydia’s neighbour, Celia, decides it’s time to go gallivanting off to Australia, she has her sister, Dianne, come to stay and look after all her animals. Dianne and Lydia soon strike up a great friendship, and Dianne is a source of comfort for Lydia, as well as being there for her through thick and thin.
When Driftwood Bay decide to put on a charity ballroom dance competition, Lydia ropes in Martin to be her partner. As expected, it’s not long before things go wrong and Lydia is left feeling devastated.
What can I say about this amazing book that I haven’t already said about the other books in this series?
It’s like coming home to your family and feeling all snug and cosy. I received a warm welcome back to Driftwood Bay.
What a character Vi is, she nearly caused me problems (due to my age) by laughing so much! She is totally inappropriate but hilarious in the way that only someone in their dotage can be.
I felt for Meredith going through the change. It is a hard thing for some of us women to go through, and I thought it was amazing of the author to bring it up and make it part of the storyline.
It was a lovely idea to have Lydia and Meredith still growing their relationship as mother and daughter, especially after the years spent apart. I could feel Lydia’s worry and unease at the past, I willed her to move on.
This is a tale of old and new, memories, and new beginnings. A story that made me laugh as well as shed the odd tear.
My thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
