Really enjoyed this one, my favourite out of the whole series. Loved the chemistry between Nova and Charlie and I loved that the whole town wanted Charlie to stay! It warmed my heart and made me happy cry.
***Thank you to NetGalley, Pan Macmillan and B.K. Borison for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Surprisingly, I started the book thinking that I would not like it, because despite the name and having read the synopsis, I was expecting a little bit of a slow burn and I didn't get it, but that’s okay. This series is one of my favorites, and every time I had a glimpse of Charlie and Nova in the previous books, I would be kicking my feet and smiling, because they seemed so interesting individually, that I was dy!ng to see them together. They’re really great! Charlie is so genuinely funny that I was laughing at him a lot, and Nova has a wonderful personality. Also, I was missing the others so much that any crumbs would make me happy. (THE NEWS at the end got me screaming).
It’s really good to see some important subjects being addressed, like ADHD and mental health issues, which i could relate with, and i thank B.K. Borison for her writing. Something i didn't like was the amount of smut scenes. It seemed unnecessary and messed my reading experience a little, and I think the space could've been filled with other types of scenes. However, I had a great time reading this and I will miss this crew so f much. All the serious conversations and the found family/little town aspect is really special to me. Also I finished this wanting to have a new tattoo so bad!!!!
I’m feeling a little bittersweet because I was hoping this would be a 5 stars with no doubts, and almost turned out to be 3.5, but it happens. I will come back on release day to share my highlights because the world needs to see them!!!
This book was amazing!!!
Charlie & Nova are my religion right now and I can’t wait to see everyone reading this one. Perfect from chapter one to the epilogue. I love this series, this small town and this couple.
Nova is soooo good as the main character and Charlie and his issues delivered everything I expected from them.
Also the crumbs from the other couples? UGH!!!!! I LOVE THEM
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Business Casual' by B.K. Borison.
The final book in the Lovelight quartet and my gosh am I going to miss this world. Every B.K. Borison boyfriend has been perfect and just a dream boyfriend but Charlie definitely beats them all out of the park. I loved how he was the opposite of Nova but in the best way. Nova herself? Mindblowing. She's a kind tattoo artist who didn't intend on finding love but luckily she found our wonderful Charlie.
B.K. Borison is an absolute delight in the genre and I'm excited to see what she writes next.
My anticipation for this book was so high that I was afraid to start reading it. Because this would be the last time I'd be going to Inglewild. But then I realised, there's absolutely nothing stopping me from going back. But there's just something special about that first time. And this is the last first time.
Business Casual was the perfect ending to the Lovelight Farms series. There’s Stella and Luka being stupidly in love. There’s Caleb staring daggers at anyone who tries to take Layla’s confectionery from him. There’s Beckett rescuing and rehoming baby animals, and Jeremy being a lowkey menace as usual.
I knew from the first time I met Charlie in Lovelight Farms that I wanted more of him. Then when I got more of him in Mixed Signals, I needed him to have his own book. But never did I expect to fall for him this hard (I AM SORRY BECKETT! I STILL LOVE YOU!).
I fell head over heels in love with Charlie from his very first POV. He's hilarious, sweet, goofy and incredibly sexy. The way he loves his sister fills my heart to the brim and I had a smile on my face the entire time I read this book. I love the way Charlie genuinely cares about everyone though. Beckett and his sound sensitivity. The way he wiggled his way into the Alvarez family. How much the people of the Inglewild treat him like one of their own. He's just so damn lovable! And it utterly breaks my heart the way he views himself. I have never wanted to hug a man more.
And then there’s my girl Nova… sigh, such a badass. She had my heart since I met her in In The Weeds. She has her own cross to bear and I relate to her so much with her bubble wrapped heart and the need to not disappoint her big brother. Speaking of said big brother, Beckett Porter is perfect as usual. He's solid, dependable both physically and emotionally and there is not a drop of toxic masculinity to be found in his body (in any of the MMCs to be honest).
The chemistry between Charlie and Nova is explosive from chapter one and I loved the way their relationship unfolded. I melted every time he called her Nova girl. I am so in love with this man, it’s stupid! I wanted to beat them over their heads for denying what was between them for so long, but with Charlie’s insecurities, I can understand why he did.
I love how invested Charlie is in the damn phone tree and was more upset that he was off it than they were discussing him and Nova. Have I said that I love this man? I’m gonna say it again. He is hilarious and sweet and dirty. Oh, the spice was spicing in this book! It’s probably the sexiest and most sensual of all the books in the series and I am here for it! Wow!
Y’all, I could write an essay about this book but I am trying so hard to avoid spoilers. This book, like every other book in the Lovelight series, made me feel warm and fuzzy and happy on the inside. The epilogue was perfect for them and I actually just lay there afterwards basking in a glow of happiness.
An author at their best, that much is for sure. In this instalment of the lovelight farm series, we follow Charlie, Stella’s half brother who is a New York based investment banker, and Beckett’s little sister Nova, the tattoo artist. Charlie is taking over his sister’s farm while she’s on her honeymoon and tension between Charlie and Nova starts to boil over.
I truly truly loved this book. For one, Charlie might be one of my favourite MMCs in romances ever. Charlie has never really felt loved or at home where he is and that’s at least in part because he doesn’t quite think he deserves it. He rides the line of trying to be enough for everyone and making them happy yet trying not to be too much and making himself small. I could relate to a lot of his inner monologues and I won’t lie, I did shed a couple of tears. And Nova desperately wants to make her family, especially her brother, proud and think she has to do it all on her own. I also could relate to that. We have two lovable and incredibly human main characters that manage to prove to each other that they don’t have to make themselves small or be on their own all the time. A lovely small town romance evolves throughout these pages. And the phone tree makes many appearances, a personal favourite feature of mine. I just love the invested small town. Love Love Love. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially to those of us who kind of just want to find a place where they belong.
Thank you so much to the author and Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.
Never getting over the fact that I got to read an advanced copy of this book, forever grateful 🥹
They are really no words for the amount of comfort I get from this series.
Charlie and Nova were everything I was hoping for and more!!! Their banter and chemistry was so on point I was giggling and kicking my feat the whole timeee, the perfect golden boy and black cat relationship 🩷🩷🩷

➸ I love Inglewild so much, reading about this town always makes me feel utterly peaceful, like being wrapped in the cosiest blanket on a cold day without a care in the world. This is everything I want from a small-town romance book. The scenery and all the general shenanigans of a small town were, once again perfect. It’s so sad to think that Business Casual will be the last Lovelight book, B.K. Borison could write an entire companion series and I’d eat it up, although at this point I’ll just read whatever the author writes.

➸ This book resonated so deeply within me. This is the book for anyone who struggles with imposter syndrome, or to anyone who simply feels like they never fit in because they’re either too much or not enough at the same time.

➸ Nora and Charlie were perfect. I loved them both individually and together as a couple. Their chemistry and relationship were simply perfect. I loved how they communicated with each other and how they made each other grow and overcome their internal struggles. Nora was such a big inspiration, even when she didn’t believe in herself she kept pushing forward without giving up, without letting the overwhelming intrusive thoughts deter her. Charlie was also utterly perfect (I want a Charlie for myself please and thank you) he’s so caring and puts everyone else’s needs before his own but was also strong enough to turn his life around and not only find out what would truly make 𝘩𝘪𝘮 happy but to go ahead and grab it.

➸ The writing was once again really good and captivating with fun banter that I’ll never get enough of.
My Heart is now complete. The reverse Grumpy Sunshine that we all need on our shelves and in our hearts.
I didn't know I needed Charlie's book this bad until I read it. Honestly Nova and Charlie out of all four couples that we met in the Lovelight Farms series are my favourite. I mean all the couples were amazing but these two just honestly complimented one another and made my cold cynical heart full of hearts and promises.
So Business Casual is the fourth and final book in the Lovelight series and we return to Inglewild for Charlie and Nova's story. We have met both very briefly throughout the series, with Charlie being half sister to Stella who we met in book one and Nova being the youngest sister to Beckett. You could tell just from the brief snippets that we got of both of them that they were going to be great characters to read more of, to fall in love with and to cheer on the side lines so that they could get their happily ever after. Charlie is the sunshine in this book and Nova is definitely the grump. I absolutely loved this final instalment of the series, it gave me all the small town cosy vibes, with several laugh out loud moments as well as ones that make you take a big deep sigh of contentment that all is right with the world. Another thing that I LOVE about this book and the whole series in general is the representation, especially towards neurodiversity. It is refreshing to see in a book and see it done in my opinion well. There is a lot of soul searching and growing as characters (which I adore) and you can see the characters love for one another grow on the page.
Charlie has had to deal with a lot, pressure from trying to rectify the mess his father has made, trying to placate his mother as well as being their for his friends in Inglewild and you get throughout the book that his heart is their not back in the city being a corporate stooge. He is the most kind-hearted and mischievous character and you can't help but fall in love with him. He is in Inglewild after sending his sister off on a dream honeymoon and he is determined to not only do a great job but he has his sight set on one Nova Porter and he wants to be more than just friends.
Nova Porter is definitely a new firm favourite. She is independent and so fiercely protective of this it goes against her at times. She has seen Charlie in a different light but she just does not have the time to consider a relationship. She is setting up her own Tattoo Studio and this is taking all her focus, and she wants to do her brother proud after he supported her all these years and is struggling with this. Charlie is the one to bring her grumpiness and focused away from the business and on herself.
One thing I love about B.K. Borison and their writing is its like coming home. You immediately know who the characters are, not only the main ones but the secondary ones that add in that little bit of humour that small town feel, that eccentric character that you can't help but chuckle at their antics. I am going to miss the phone tree.
I have now left my heart in Inglewild and am now sad we won't be returning for more shenanigans.
This was so fun!! I’ve read the other books in this standalone/interconnected series so I knew what to expect, and this book did not disappoint.
It’s cute, passionate, some miscommunication but not in a cruel or toxic way. I love the banter between characters and the town being so gossipy always makes me laugh. I totally recommend this for an enjoyable light romance with good spice.
A return to Lovelight Farm.
I am a sucker for a small town romance and this book was no exception. I loved it from the start. The characters Nova and Charlie had great chemistry and were really loveable. I liked how the book deals with Charlie’s ADHD as well as Nova’s migraines and how debilitating they can be.
I was really sad to finish this book and leave these characters behind as I had become caught up in their lives and story.
I also love an author that for the epilogue gives us an update on how the characters are doing a few years later. Thank you.
If you love a small town romance, grumpy/sunshine romance with some spice this is the book for you.
Thanks to NetGalley, B. K Borison and Pan Macmillian for the ARC
Oh I LOVED this book!! Small town, Fall season vibes, gorgeous funny out of towner who wants to fit in, grumpy tattoo artist with migraines - all the family and townsfolk that have been introduced over the last 3 books in the series - perfection! I enjoyed this so much as a light cosy read, and even though I've not yet read the first 3 books (Lovelight Farms has been on my shelf but missed the festive window for reading!) I'll be going back to them, this was adorable and gave me far too many ideas for tattoo inspiration. Easy 5 out of 5.
I literally breezed through the first three books of this series and I loved every second of them. So when I saw this come up it was a 100% request to read. And I think it might be my favourite book in the series.
I just loved the openness and honesty of Nova and Charlie. How they had a great friendship that built into a love that was so honest and beautiful. I loved the edginess of Nova and the gorgeous happiness of Charlie.
It’s such a cozy romance where you get to have a laugh a long with the characters but also feel the emotional toils they face.
I wish we were getting another book right away as there is so much more of this series I could dive into. But I’ll sleep happy knowing this beautiful couple are living happy in Inglewild.
Everything about this book was wonderful I don’t know where to start 😭 I absolutely loved being back with my favourite characters from the previous books - this one starts with Stella and Luka’s wedding 🥹 - as well as my favourite busybody small town, Inglewild ☎️
Charlie Milford may have just become my favourite Lovelight man (sorry Beckett) - he is a ray of sunshine, a flirt & a people pleaser, but as we get to know him we learn that really it’s a front for his insecurities, and he is always trying so hard to feel accepted. He broke my heart a little and I just want to give him a hug 🥺🫶🏼
Nova has a tough exterior, but underneath her dry wit and tattoos she has the biggest heart. She gives Charlie something he has never really had before - a home 🤍 Also I absolutely loved her relationship with Beckett, their scene made me cry 😭🫶🏼
“𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗲.”
I adored this book! I loved the banter and the chemistry between Nova and Charlie. I found myself giggling throughout the book at some of their scenes. I love the small town vibes and the meddling and nosey townies. Highly recommend!
So sad that the series is over but cannot wait to see what’s next!
Title: Business Casual By B.K. Borison
Release date: July, 16th, 2024
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️Stars
This is the final book in the Lovelight Series but can be read as a stand alone.
I absolutely adored this book from start to finish. Borison has a gift for blending humor, romance and spice into a story that's as delightful as it is entertaining. From laugh-out-loud moments to heartwarming surprises, every page had me hooked!
Nova Porter, a no-nonsense tattoo artist, is all business as she gears up to launch her new studio in Inglewild. Love is the last thing on her mind, but try telling that to her heart when it starts fluttering around the uptight investment banker, Charlie Milford. Desperate to quash her unexpected attraction, Nova suggests a one-night fling with Charlie, thinking it'll clear the air. But sparks fly and lines blur, leaving Nova and Charlie tangled up in a mess of feelings neither saw coming.
As Charlie sticks around to oversee Lovelight Farms, Nova's attempts to dodge him only fuel the flames of their chemistry. Despite their contrasting personalities, Charlie sees potential in their unlikely connection and sets out to win Nova over—with plenty of charm and a few cheesy pickup lines along the way.
I loved how the main male character's ADHD was depicted in the story. It offered a fresh perspective, allowing us to delve into his inner thoughts and challenges, while the female lead provided much-needed support and empathy.
Their chemistry filled the story with a delightful blend of tenderness and thrill, keeping me completely captivated.
Even though I have not read the earlier books in the series, I was completely absorbed in the story and now I'm eager to delve into the rest of the series.
If you're in need of a pick-me-up, look no further than "Business Casual". Trust me, you won't regret diving into this!
With Business Casual, this series has cemented itself as one of my favourite romance series. I love the cosy small town vibes full of hilarious shenanigans, I love how we follow the seasons in these different installments, and I love how much we see of all the characters in each different book. I also love how consistent the vibe and atmosphere of the story is in four different books, with eight different main characters who all have their own personalities and problems. Nova and Charlie were both amazing main characters, making this book my second favourite in the series, directly after In the Weeds.
When you finish a book at 1:30am and instantly head to the notes app on your phone to start writing a review... You know it was a good one!
Business Casual was everything and more, I was not ready for my time in Inglewild to end, but this story was so utterly perfect I don't at all feel like I've said goodbye. I genuinely feel like all the characters are just carrying on living their happiest lives and that one day I'll pop back and see them.
Business Casual is the fourth book in the Lovelight Farms series and whilst these 4 books are individual stories and could in theory be read alone, I think the best reading experience would be reading them in chronological order. You’ll get to know the characters, their back stories etc and have no spoilers.
Anyone who knows me will know I fell head over heels for Lovelight Farms, I was there googling how possible it was to open a Christmas Tree Farm in the UK and debating if my car needed another tree air freshener. I adored Luka and Stella's story and waxed lyrical about that to anyone who would listen.
In the Weeds was next and my heart absolutely broke for Beckett and Evie. I adored these two like my life depended on it. Beckett was everything. Grumpy, soft, in need of love…but my does that man have a way with words! Evie was the sweetest and the happiness they found in loving each other was a dream.
Then along came Mixed Signals and once again I fell hard (yes I googled opening a bakery). Caleb and Layla were adorable, they’re both such warm rays of sunshine and I just wanted to wrap them up in happiness. The spice was on point with this one and their dynamic and banter was off the charts.
Then finally Business Casual. I was waiting for this book like I wait for autumn every single year. I saw the US Arcs go up on netgalley and checked so often it was verging on ridiculous to see if the UK ones had gone up. In my head knowing my chances of getting one were pretty slim, but that I'd try anyway! Then the fateful day came when BK Borison shared that UK arcs were up. I don't think I've ever tried to log in so fast, in my haste I typed my password wrong multiple times, couldn't get in and then had to go into a call for work! But fear not dear reader as I remembered the password was saved on my iPad and within seconds I was in and had put in my request.... Then... The wait. I tried to not think about it, expecting a decline, expecting a thanks...but no.
Then 2 days before my birthday I woke up to an approval email, it is no word of a lie when I say I squealed!
Spoilers ahead…
I have never downloaded a book so fast and got straight in. It had been a while since I finished Mixed Signals (over a year) but I was too impatient to get myself up to speed, so I just went straight in. Within a handful of pages it was like I’d never left Inglewild though. B.K pulls you straight back in with her captivating writing and characters that just come to life on the page.
Charlie is an absolute golden retriever, but with a good dose of cheekiness which quite frankly makes him perfect. As an investment banker with a fondness for ridiculously priced 3-piece suits and wrist watches there was so much potential for him to look down on the small town and day to day life. But actually it’s quite the opposite and when the opportunity to send Stella (his sister) and Luka away on a honeymoon let’s him take over looking after the farm - he can’t help but take it.
Meanwhile Nova (Beckett’s younger sister) is working her socks off prepping to open her own tattoo studio and fighting the internal battles of not wanting to disappoint her brother. Wracked with nerves and anxiety, and also taking on probably more than she can manage, having Charlie there to lend a hand and entertain her with banter is a welcome constant.
But when the banter changes pace and the two anti-relationship friends find themselves making a pact for one night together to get the tension out of their systems… there was really only one way this story was heading!
I loved both our main characters. Charlie, as mentioned above is the perfect golden retriever, he would do anything for Nova (and consistently does!), he’s a chronic people pleaser and is fighting his own demons and struggles as he tries so hard to not intrude on lives, to not make himself a nuisance. Hiding it all behind the cheeky fun loving guy persona. I wanted to sit down with Charlie and tell him he is so worthy of love, that he deserves to be looked after and that he needs Nova just as much as she needs him.
Nova is feisty and determined. She has big goals and even bigger worries. Her people pleasing and need to not disappoint anyone was so relatable and without a doubt I just wanted Nova to be my friend the more and more I read. She’s so strong and I was so proud of her. She is so determined she needs to do this alone, to not ask for help, to not be seen as weak.
Ultimately we get to see these two heal together, to lean on each other in a way neither of them could ever see coming. Yes this story starts with a lust filled one night stand, but it soon becomes apparent that the affection and love has been there between them for so long and that the attraction goes so much deeper than a couple of friends clearing the air of sexual tension. The romance story that follows has the perfect blend of sugar and spice, I found myself entirely consumed by them and breaking each and every time one of them was not quite brave enough to say how they really felt.
The happy ending was a given, but the journey to get there could not have been better. This book had me laughing, crying, swooning and squealing in equal measure. It was perfect. These two characters and the home they find in each other will live rent free in my head and heart for a long time to come.
Finally, that last wrap up scene with all our favourite characters. I don’t think I can ever thank B.K enough for this. Normally I find the scene with returning characters a little jarring, they’re normally a chunk of time after the story ends and leave me feeling like I’ve missed a whole chunk of the characters lives. But this coming immediately at the end was just perfect (how many times can I say perfect in a review?!) it neatly wrapped up the storylines with a perfect bow on top, everyone there together, the dream friendship come family group, the perfect (there it is again) end to a wonderful series. I genuinely finished the last page feeling so many warm fuzzies and ready to make this series my whole personality, and whilst I know this is the last book in the series, I just feel like I could pop by and catch up with all my favourite characters any time. Thank you B.K for this incredible series, I cannot wait to loose myself in your next world and fall in love with all the future characters you create.
Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the eARC of this book, I will be eternally grateful for getting to read this early.
This is very very sweet and I enjoyed it a lot. I was a bit wary going in as romance books are normally a miss for me but I liked this one a lot.
Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for this ARC.
It’s the last instalment of Lovelight Farm series and I had an incredibly hard time starting to read this novel. I just didn’t want to say goodbye to the characters I loved, to the small town that charmed me, to the love stories that captivated me but also felt completely relatable. I imagined that there is no way this book will feel a proper sendoff. Oh, how wrong I was. The story of Charlie and Nova was an absolute pleasure and delight to read and it quickly became my favourite part of the series.
We have met both Charlie and Nova already: he is Stella’s half brother, charming, lovable, kind investment banker whose life is technically happening in New York but who spends in Inglewild as much time as he can physically spare, she is Beckett’s grumpy, hardworking tattoo artist sister, who is working on opening her own tattoo studio in Inglewild. What we don’t know about them is that they both feel lonely and also significant attraction to one another. Charlie’s insecurities prevent him from trying anything other than flirting, as he doesn’t believe he deserves it. Nova doesn’t things she has space and energy for anyone in her life, too busy trying to achieve perfection in order to make her family, especially her brother, proud. They are a good match, even if purely on physical terms. And that’s the route they take, a one night „to get each other out of their systems”. Even though it has never worked in history of mankind and romance genre.
The way the two main characters are built is absolutely fascinating to me. They seem like real humans, with all their feelings, emotions, passions, flaws and insecurities. They are genuine, which makes them extremely relatable. The way Nova feels indebted to her brother and works herself to the bone, even though she has nothing to prove (or to justify her anxiety about his reaction to her new studio), is real and raw and makes me wanna give her a hug and/or an inspirational speech. The way Charlie feels inadequate, undeserving, despite being loved and cared for by almost everyone, is so much like real life and also makes me wanna give him a hug and/or an inspirational speech. But what appreciate the most about them is that they communicate with each other, they say what they feel and think. Well, that is usually preceded by some anxiety, stress, misreading signals and overthinking, but still, leads to honestly and openness and makes it work so well.
The story is lovely and very well written, paced out in a logical and sensible manner. The development of the story is organic and doesn’t feel forced in any way. Situations and events occurring are not stacked up as the obvious plot devices, but as a result of choices made by characters. Adding just enough spice, not vulgar but rather tasteful and fitting in the plot right, makes it a perfect book to finalise the series.
I wholeheartedly recommend Business Casual, the book that brought all the joy to me, keeping me thinking about it for a long time afterwards. Perfection.
