I've again been absorbed effortlessly into this little town, beautiful characters and story 💚
The friends-to-lovers trope isn't one I usually gravitate to. But this story was done SO well.
Nova and Charlie are perfect for each other, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
The communication and passion was definitely on point. Their story was definitely also the spiciest one of all the Lovelight Farms books.
I was also very pleasantly surprised how the story evolved and ended. I would have expected to be predictable, but those last chapters? P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N (it made me cry too 🥹)
Also loved the meaning behind the title of the book!
I do have to say, Beckett is still claiming 100% of my heart. And in my opinion, he made Nova and Charlie's story even more perfect 💕 He was a crucial part of their story and made me rate it 5 stars instead of 4 🥰
charlie, my ray of sunshine☀️ you deserve every good thing in the world. the way he kept giving pieces of himself to everyone while thinking he didn’t deserve anything🥹 he was willing to make everyone happy without asking anything in return🥹
nova, my precious girl🫂 you were so patient, so mature. i could feel your need to prove yourself, your need to make people proud of you. i love to see you happy with your Charlie <3🥹
HE FINALLY FINALLY HAS A HOME🥹 finally he realizes people love him just because who he is. best found family🫶🏼
and the best part? no third act‼️ no owd/omd‼️ cutest epilogue‼️ she wrote this for us girlies <333
Thank you to Becs and NetGalley for this, I was so so happy to receive this ARC! I was anticipating Charlie Milford's book from the moment we first met Stella's silly older brother and he did not disappoint.
Charlie and Nova have one of my favourite dynamics in romcom history!! Nothing hits quite like golden retriever x black cat. They were just so perfect for each other. Charlie finally finding a place where he feels home and wanted. Nova discovering that she can still be independent and be open to romance and have someone to lean on and support her. Their love story was just the sweetest.
I am obsessed with the small town of Inglewild. If I could pick a fictional town to settle down in it would surely be this one. Becs has this way of writing community and friendship and comedy in a way that makes you feel like you're right there in the room or on the street with these characters, whether it be the main characters or the random townsfolk. And there is truly no greater piece of small town lore than the Inglewild phone tree! I NEED TO BE ON THERE RIGHT NOW!!
SO sad this was the end of the Lovelight series but since Becs isn't shutting the door take this as my formal request for books about the other two Porter sisters, Alex Alvarez and Jeremy. It's what the people deserve!!!!!!!
I derived immense enjoyment from this book, and there was a moment when I believed it might earn a five-star rating from me. Although that didn't happen, it doesn't diminish the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed the read. My Kindle is adorned with over a hundred and fifty highlights and more than a hundred notes, a testament to how much I relished the story. These notes don't comprise complaints; instead, they are a mix of exuberant expressions, such as "GOD HE IS PERFECTTTTTTTTT," "God I needd him," and "Omg im cryingggggg." These are the more restrained examples, as I refrain from adding my not-so-PG13 notes due to digital footprint concerns. Despite starting with the last book in the series without having read any of the previous ones, I had no difficulty with the side characters, thanks to their thoughtful introductions.
"Business Casual" revolves around Nova and Charlie. Charlie, our hero with a penchant for three-piece suits and high-end wristwatches, works for a wealthy investment firm in New York. He shamelessly flirts with his friend Nova, who owns the only female-owned and female-operated tattoo shop on the East Coast. Both Charlie and Nova initially have no interest in relationships until they decide on a one-night stand to get each other out of their systems. However, this plan takes an unexpected turn, leading to more nights together and an unforeseen outcome.
Both main characters, Nova and Charlie, endeared themselves to me. I could relate to both of them, and the story resonated with me on a personal level. Despite the struggles they faced individually, their journey of healing together showcased how much they needed each other. I don't usually gravitate towards one-night stand books because the connection between the characters often feels built on lust. However, in this story, the love between Nova and Charlie is palpable, grounded in friendship and mutual trust, rather than mere physical attraction.
Charlie and Nova's narrative fulfilled all my expectations and more. The book delivered scorching-hot tension, delightful banter, and beautifully vulnerable emotions. It featured everything I cherish in Becs' writing—an atmospheric and appropriately angsty setting, sensuality, tenderness, and witty storytelling. Becs skillfully embraced the quirky charm of the small town, incorporating beloved characters from previous books in the series. Moreover, Charlie and Nova were portrayed as genuine, imperfect, and lovable characters. In summary, this is Becs' finest writing to date, and I eagerly anticipate her devoted fans falling in love with Charlie and Nova as well.
This book was everything and honestly total perfection. Lovelight Farms is one of my fav romance series and I love everything BK Borison writes. I think a romance book that both makes you genuinely laugh out loud and cry proper tears (multiple times) is a rare and special thing and Business Casual did that for me. A perfectly dressed NYC finance bro with daddy issues & a tattoo artist with a sharp tongue from a small town where everyone knows everything, Nova & Charlie were so fun and so so sweet - their deep needs to succeed and impress the people in their lives, and the complete peace they find in each other. I loved their vulnerability and their chemistry. Plus seeing the whole Inglewild gang was an absolute treat, especially Stella & Luke’s wedding and the story of Beckett & Evie’s elopement!! I read it in a day & I’m honestly ready to read it again. Thanks so much to NetGalley & Pan MacMillan for this ARC!!
Thank you Pan Macmillan for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5
The final installment in the Lovelight Farms series was really close to perfect. It sets out at Stella's and Luka's wedding, and features Stella's brother Charlie and Beckett's sister Nova as the main characters and couple.
I really like Nova, independent, bossy, strong family ties. But Charlie I abolsutely adore, a hot mess with a soft heart, incredibly selfless, always putting others first, himself last, needing to learn how to voice his needs. He's had the most impressive arc of all the characters in the lovelight series. Both Charlie and Nova are emotionally mature, able to apologise when they hurt someone and mend the relationships that are meaningful to them, or cut off the toxic person in their life by the end.
Their banter had me giggling and blushing from the get go their chemistry goes through the roof (and first floor window ;) ). The small town this whole series is set in, Inglewild, proves once again that it's full of harmless little gossips, just wanting the best for its residents. Very reminiscent of Gilmore Girls. Charlie is very much a way better version of Logan Huntzberger. Similar relationship to his father, but no stupid entitlement, Charlie is using his money to help others and give then pleasure, instead of squandering it away in dangerous, pompous ways.
This installment was quite a bit spicier than its predecessors, which went well with the plot, but I wouldn't have minded if one or two of the scenes had been cut. Especially once it interrupted or postponed a conversation that was overdue.
The best part in my opinion is that there is no stupid third act break-up or conflict based on miscommunication. The resolution and final chapter are just wonderful and while I'm no fan of epilogues in romances, I cannot but love this one.
Thank you to the publisher Pan Macmillan for the e-ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have yet to read Mixed Signals but so far my ranking of the series goes
#1 Business Casual
#2 Lovelight Farms
#3 In the Weeds.
Charlie and Nova are so dear to my heart now, I had trouble parting with them. Both are grown ups, dealing with their stuff in a mature way, which contributed to there being no stupid third act miscommunication conflict. Charlie, the softie, will forever have my heart with his selfless ways. His character arc was truly impressive and I could not help but be proud of him for learning what he did.
From the first chapter, Charlie and Nova had me with their hilarious banter and chemistry.
The small town Inglewild this last book in the series is also set in, is in its way its own character, all its residents with their phone tree making up a wholesome nosy and wlecoming mass of people.
The author made this last book the spiciest in the series. Wide open doors for all who'd like to know.

5/5✨
2/5🌶️
I'm so grateful that I got the chance to read the ARC for this book! I enjoyed it soooo much! 🥰🥰
In this book the focus is on Nova and Charlie. The two of them decided to have just a night stand to release the tension between them. But things get complicated and the more time they spend with each other, the more the desire grows to repeat the experience of being together. Will they take the chance on each other? I'll let you find out on your own🤭.
There were plenty sweet scenes and I fell in love with Charlie, who venerated Nova🥰. I adored that he always called hey 'Nova girl' and it always sounded sweet and sexy. The best scenes were when he would just leave everything else to be with her, when she wasn't feeling well 🥰. They both helped each other be better and to try to overcome their biggest fears. I had my share of giggles reading this book, so this was a bonus for me 😊.
I really love B.K Borison's writing! I appreciated that it was no necessary drama, neither a third act break up. I recommend this book if you enjoy these tropes: secret romance, brother's best friend, one night stand, boy falls first, small town, dual pov.
✨Fav quotes✨ 🥰
🔹'Am I too much? Are you going to want me for longer than this? Can I stay here with you?'🔹
🔹'"Nova?"
"Yes?"
"I've never been anyone's favorite"'🔹
🔹'He grunts and tries to yank at a blanket. It rolls me sideways and my legs go flailing.
"Easy," he says, dodging my foot. "I'm trying to burrito you the way you like."'🔹
Anything I'm going to say will not be enough to explain how much I loved this book but I'll still try.
This book reignited my love for small town romance, I have only read the first book(lovelight farms) other than the one I'm currently reviewing but I can still say this is my favorite one.
I cried, I laughed, I swooned.
I was in a reading slump for last two weeks and this book literally grabbed me by my collar and dragged me out of it!!
The banter, the flirtation and pushing each other buttons , everything is so goddamn perfect about this book.
I think borison outdid herself here. There I said it.
Let's talk about charlie and his Nova girl
Their personalities are so different but still they compliment each other perfectly.
The ADHD rep is depicted so well!!
I loved nova,I think I see myself in Nova alot ( the hard exterior but a softie inside, needs to have control over things)
and charlie that man is so affected by Nova porter ,it's like SHE BREATHES AND HE GOES HAVE MERCY ON ME WOMAN.
Also best thing is there is no THIRD ACT BREAKUP, I REPEAT THERE IS NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP
If you are looking for a light, comforting ,feels like coming home read this is for you!!
I'm going to miss inglewild so much😭❤
Also I got to meet my favorites too
Luke and stella💕😭
Thankyou so much for the ARC copy✨
I am Charlie and Charlie is me 😭
.
Have I ever told you how much I love romance books? The vulnerability, communities, chosen families? The lessons they leave us with? I wish I read more of these when I was younger, they would have lessen my struggles a lotttt whenever I thought happy endings are something rare.
.
I mentioned vulnerability - I loved how real Charlie’s struggles were portrayed - overthinking at its best, always trying to keep him in check and not be ‘too much’. Bless him. When you try so much to have a good image/behaviour you don’t even realise how easy it is to lose yourself and then question your interactions all the time, asking yourself if it’s even worth showing your true self to the people around you. And also, this vulnerability is exactly what made the spicy scenes so so so good.
.
‘I like losing myself, but sometimes — Sometimes I think I miss being known.’
.
Have you read any of the books in the Lovelight series?
loved loved loved everything about this book. it felt like the perfect amount of romance, tension and problem solving between the couple.
charlie ―୨୧⋆ ˚ probably my favourite book boyfriend so far this year. he was sweet and so easy to love. right from the first mention of his name earlier in the series I knew I would love his characterisation and I was not disappointed in the slightest. one of the best parts of charlie’s character was his sunshine attitude but the reason why</> he was like that in the first place. the self-deprecation and masking of himself etc. which made the relationship he ended up having with nova and further his friends turned family all the more sweet and charming to read.
nova ―୨୧⋆ ˚ the truest form of a black cat fmc I have ever read. she was grumpy and sometimes pushy but also had insecurities and flaws which made her character feel realistic but incredibly likeable. the slow relaxation towards her feelings for charlie was at times slightly excruciating but entertaining to read.
everything about their relationship was beautifully written and felt like a perfectly tied bow at the end of this series.
the plot ―୨୧⋆ ˚ it flowed nicely and lead you along at a steady pace- without coming to too much of a standstill. in general i love Borrisons writing and cannot wait to see some more of her work! in know way did it ever feel boring or turfing like some romance novels tend to feel and the climax to the story felt genuine and slightly unbearable despite it not being a 3rd act break (thank goodness).
I would eternally recommend this series but especially this book.
thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a review!
Many thanks to Netgalley, Pan Macmillan and B.K. Borison for the arc in exchange for an honest review! :)
I loooooved and devoured the first three in the Lovelight Farms series, so naturally I had to request this one when I saw it! Since I knew of this book, I always wondered how a love story seperate from the 'main trio' would work in the series, but B.K. proved just how wrong I was to doubt!
Nova and Charlie have got to be my favourite couple of the entirety of Inglewand, hands down! I could relate to both of them so much, I laughed with them, I cried with them and I was so inspired seeing them grow - on their own and together.
It's going to be hard coming to terms that we now have to leave this town behind, but it ended with a banger!
If after reading Business Casual when it releases in July you still crave more, there's always B.K. Borison's other new book next year, 'First-Time Caller', which is set to release in 2025!
Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillian for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
BK Borison is an auto buy author for me; so I was beyond thrilled to receive this copy of Business Casual. I love Inglewild and Lovelight Farms SO much, so to get to dive back into the stories was amazing.
Charlie and Nova are beautiful, flawed, endearing people. To read about their journey to find each other and to each find their own peace and acceptance was a joy.
Getting to dive back into the beautiful setting, hilarious characters and lovable town was a heart warming experience. Charlie and Nova are two characters you will root for again and again.
BK Borison has outdone herself in concluding these beautiful stories; and I can’t wait to see what we’ll get next.
Ps, the spice?! Phew 🥵 it was flawless!
I have no words!!!
this was absolutely the PERFECT conclusion to this series. Nova & Charlie were such a great characters to read about, and their dynamic was so interesting. I really enjoyed their story, and I found it to be truly heartwarming, fun, banterous and cheeky!
I loved the mention of certain other characters, and getting to know Charlie, nova and her family more! the other lovelight couples weaved in and out of the story so well, and it was so nice to see!!
I loved the development of the characters and the tropes of this books so much, and am very much looking forward to getting my hands on a physical copy!
I can't wait for everyone to read about them - they are truly everything!!! <3
Business Casual is the fourth installment in the Lovelight Farms series but works as a standalone too. Although I do recommend reading the others because they're great!
This romance novel follows Charlie and Nova and their development from flirty acquaintances, to one night stand, to more. Although Charlie lives and works in New York, he spends a lot of his time in Inglewild with his sister, Stella, and all his friends. In Business Casual he's covering for Stella whilst she's on her honeymoon and trying not to be overwhelmed by all the work he has to do, both at Lovelight Farms and remotely for his swanky job in the city. Meanwhile, Nova is setting up her very own tattoo studio in Inglewild and she's nervous that it won't be a success as she desperately doesn't want to disappoint her brother, Beckett.
Blowing off steam makes sense for the pair and a memorable one night stand makes them both realise that there's more to their chemistry than simple flirtation...
I really enjoyed Business Casual, both the characters are very likeable and B K Borinson is EXCELLENT at writing sexual tension which these books are all full of.
The phone tree and local community characters always crack me up and the found family elements for Charlie are sweet and wholesome as he's accepted into the community. There's also no third act conflict which I always appreciate!
One thing I would say is that reading it straight after the third book, Mixed Signals, made it slightly obvious that all the characters/plots are very similar but I still enjoyed this new addition to the romances of Lovelight Farms. I also despised the pet name "girl" which gives me the ick but that's just personal preference!
Overall an enjoyable read.
B.K Borison never disappoints me!! A new all-time favorite romance.
I am Nova. She is me. And now I want myself a Charlie. How freaking cute are they????? I really enjoyed their love story!
This was a very cute story with cozy vibes that I definitely recommend!!!!
Charlie is the sweetest guy, he totally stole my heart. I appreciated the ADHD rep and the way it was portrayed by a highly successful man, as sometimes neurodivergence is misrepresented and used as a negative character trait. I also liked that Nova’s migraines weren’t treated as “just a headache”. Both main characters were mature, endearing and incredibly lovable.
Business Casual was well paced, funny, entertaining and extra spicy; all the things you want in a small town romance! And to top it off, there is no third act breakup!
Thank you NetGalley and Pan MacMillan for the eARC copy of this book.
Each book of the Lovelight Farm series was incredible and I loved them so much, so Business Casual was one of my most anticipated releases of 2024. I was so excited when I received the ARC and started reading almost right away.
Nova is independent, sarcastic, and very busy opening her new tattoo shop in Inglewild. Her focus is on her never ending to do list and very much not on distractions such as Charlie. Charlie is charming and flirty and extremely unserious, and Nova needs to relax from all the stress she’s under, so why not giving into it and have a little bit of fun just one time. A very famous case of « we’ll get it out of our systems and everything will go back to normal ».
Just like the first 3 books before, this one had me smiling non stop, laughing and being fully invested. From the very beginning, seeing Nora convincing herself that Charlie was a flirt with everybody and there was nothing special in his behavior towards her was extremely funny. You’d have to be blind to not see that this man was hopelessly fascinated by her, and himself did not take to long to realise it. But under the charming and goofy personality, Charlie has depth, insecurities, and when looking below the surface, Nova can’t help but fall. The banter between the two of them and sarcasm from Nova was incredible and I’ve highlighted so many bits and pieces all throughout the book.
And getting to see a little bit of the lives of Stella and Luka, Beckett and Evie (and the animals) and Layla and Caleb all together was amazing. This book was the perfect ending to the Lovelight Farms series, and I just can’t wait to see what’s next for BK Borison.
Also, I really wished I could go to Inglewild and get a flower tattoo from Nova.
**
I’m used to being a good time. A fun deviation from normal patterns and behaviors. But with Nova, I want to be a choice. Not a whim. Not a regret.
**
I might be safe with him, but I’m starting to think I’m not so safe from him.
**
“Every time I look at you, I only want you more.
**
“I’ve taught myself how to be okay with fragments of feeling, but I don’t want that with you. I want more than what you’ve given me. I want to give you more of me too. I love you, Nova girl. I tried my very best not to, but you wiggled your way right in there with no respect for my opinion on the matter.”
“That sounds about right.”

The Lovelight Farms series is possibly one of my favourite romance series ever. It's cute, fun and the characters are just sensational. I loved Charlie and Nova, particularly Charlie who I'd fallen in love with in the other books in the series with the snippets we'd had. Whilst this book probably wasn't my favourite in the series, I still absolutely adored it. Great pacing and a perfect balance of cute lovey scenes and spice. So good!
Well, she's done it again.
Charlie and Nova gave everything I needed them to give. It was funny, happy, at points sad, but always cosy with the warm feeling of Inglewild.
This ended up being so much more than a romance between two people trying to keep their relationship purely physical and flirty, and gave us a story of belonging, self-confidence and finding family.
I've spent so long trying to decide what my favourite book in this series will be but I've finally realised that I don't have to decide, my favourite will change with the seasons and that means I can go back year round for christmas tree farm visits in winter, walks around the farm in spring, bakehouse visits in summer and tattoos in autumn.
Mark the release dates in your diary because you will not want to miss this!
