“I’ve taught myself how to be okay with fragments of feeling, but i don’t want that with you. I want more than what you’ve given me.”
I recieved this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! All opinions are my own.
I cried with this one, it was so good. New favorite.
This is the fourth and final book in the Lovelight series. Every book follows a different couple but the stories are in order so you could read spoilers about a previous couple if you read them out of order.
I absolutely adore this small town, its people, the main couples in the books, everything! I'm going to miss them so much. The author said she's not closing the door to Inglewild completely and I hope to read more about it some day.
I love Nova and Charlie, the main characters in this one that we knew from before, they both needed to realize some things about themselves and it was a fantastic journey. I fell in love with their story.
The romance was perfect. It was going to be a one night stand to get it out of their systems and we all know how that usually goes.
I love how close the family and friends are in these books, it's like everyone in town is a big family.
I loved Charlie's personality and how much he worked in the farm to help Stella and everyone else. I also loved the ending, the epilogue was great. I think this may be my favorite couple, or well at least my second favorite cause Stella and Luka from the first book have a piece of my heart.
This book has so much love and friendship. It was a perfect ending of this series.
"CHARLIE: Why? Are you jealous, Nova girl?
NOVA: Hard to be jealous when I can still feel you every time I sit down, Charlie.
CHARLIE: Fuck."
GIRL! THE BEST BOOK OF THE SERIE!
I never imagine that I would love this book so much that I cannot stop reading! I love the relationship between them, Nova is like a "cold heart" for everyone but she has a beautiful soul, I love her so much and I feel very identified with her, I think im like her, and I love how she is a business woman, she has her own dream and she didn't care about any person and what they think about her tattoos, and how she thinks Charlie is amazing but she doesn't want a relation ship until he start to go out with him.
Charlie is amazing, he has a beautiful heart, he is so into her, he cares about her and how she feels about everything, im so in love with this guy, the way he loves his sister and his brother-in law, im sobbing thinking about how alone he felt without his sister all his life, I cannot believe how lucky he is for finding a new home in this book with another family that he create by his own choice.
I think this book is home, and I've never recover it because I want this in my life.
BK Borison always do the same, she makes my heart hurt so bad, because I don't have that sense of home, family that she create in her books.
Thanks for this amazing book.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review!
Business casual is a standalone romance set in the wholesome town of Inglewild and is also the final book in the interconnected Lovelight series.
I cannot tell you how excited I was to get my hands on this ARC! I absolutely loved B.K Borisons other books and this one did not disappoint. This is definitely a must read for anybody who loved a small town/ friends to lovers romance. Even though it can be read as a stand alone, I would definitely recommend reading the other books in the series to get a feel for the other characters and their relationships.
In the book we follow Nova and Charlie’s story, which started off as a promise of a one night stand but leads to so much more! Both characters are so beautifully written and relatable, I was rooting for them from the start! Charlie is my new favourite MMC in this book series 🙈 his love language is remembering the little things and I’m so here for it. It literally had me kicking my feet whilst reading 🥹 I didn’t want this series of books to end but so glad to go out with an angel like Charlie Boy 🫶🏻
Many thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC.
The highly anticipated final book in the much loved Lovelight Series. I love this series with my whole entire heart and absolutely adored Nova and Charlie’s story. A perfect conclusion to a wonderful series.
Business Casual is the fourth (maybe final?) book of the Lovelight Farm series. I have read the first two books, third book yet to read, but I got this as an ARC.
Business Casual follows the love story between Beckett's sister Nova Porter and Charlie, Stella's half-brother. The story starts with Charlie shipping off his sister and Luca to the honeymoon and taking over the farm temporary. Nova Porter owns a tattoo shop but refuses to fall in love. Nova makes a proposition to Charlie--Nova wants to get Charlie out of her system and so they decided to spend the night together with no strings attached. However, they cannot seem to avoid each other and the two starts falling in love with each other.
I love reading Lovelight farm series but I feel I like this book more than the first book of the series. Instantly, you can feel the chemistry between Nova and Charlie and as a reader, you actually want them to be together! The writing was great, I also like Charlie's estranged relationship with his father and his adjustment living in the farm while working as an investment banker. Nova is the female version of Beckett (if you have read the first two books you will understand) . And I really like the ending.
You can read this book as a standalone although if you want to know more about the other characters, you might have to read the first three books. I actually enjoyed reading this book and worth 4.5 stars.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Such a sweet story! I loved the dynamic between Nova and Charlie, how he was the sunshine always trying to make her and everyone else happy, he’s truly a selfless character who also happens to be very vulnerable. Nova was also characterised very well by the author, i love her independence, her fierceness and how she learnt day by day how to make space in her life for love.
Absolutely loved the next book in this cute and cosy series.
All of the characters in Inglewild are fabulous but I think these are my favourite couple yet and Charlie is definitely my favourite of the Inglewild men.
It was obvious from the start how these two felt about each other and I really enjoyed seeing their story unfold.
My only two very minor dislikes were Charlie calling Nova "Nova Girl" and all the "snickering" that went on.
GAHHH!! This book!!! My heart is full and happy and Nova and Charlie get all the heart eyes. I loved every single thing about it. It was just perfect..
Charlie oh Charlie. I loved him so much and just, he’s so everything and I wanted to hug him. I was so proud of him. And Nova is just so beautiful. I love how they just see each other and the support and friendship they have, while their feelings continue to grow. And then the chemistry between them? Wow 😮💨, it was fun and playful and oh so steamy.
With this one, I just kept getting hit in the feels. All the happy tears leaking down my face and a silly smile slapped on it, and then parts had me in hysterics, god they had just good back and forth. I just could not get enough of this book nor stop reading and absolutely devoured it. I love this small town and all its people and the series is just so wonderful. It was everything I didn’t know I needed. And just go read it already!
A must read for any small town romance lovers!
This was the perfect ending for this beautiful series and I will love it forever
We get to join these beloved characters meet and fall in love and escape world for a little while. Borison has done a phenomenal job at creating this world and characters
Thank you for the arc
Business Casual by B.K. Borison is a must-read for those who cherish heartwarming, emotional, and witty small-town romances. This delightful novel beautifully portrays the essence of community, the warmth of found family, and a sprinkle of entrepreneurial zeal. Through its enchanting narrative, the book intricately intertwines the themes of love, business, and the quest for belonging, leaving readers with a sense of upliftment and hope. it was amazing
"i've taught myself how to be okay with fragments of feeling, but i don't want that with you. i want more than what you've given me"
this book.. yeah it was everything and the perfect ending for this cozy and lovely series as well known as the lovelight series.
business causal is one of my favorite reads of the year, for sure no questions about it and the way i related to both of the characters … i can’t with them bc they are literally my favs and i know that i fell in love with all of the books of this series but u know?with charlie and nova it’s different and it was even more different because of knowing that this one would have been the final book so it felt even more special to me… bc this university was (and still is) a cozy and lovely escape and while i was reading all the stories of these lovely characters i felt that i was there with them <3 .
nova and charlie, my favs.i've been anticipating their story for a long time now, and it clearly did not disappoint.
their story was friends with benefits to lovers with black cat and golden retriever vibes and the tropes have been well executed and I MEAN that .
charlie… what can i say about him? i’ve just love for him and i related to him maybe… too much and nova i could relate to her too and i can that she’s everything and i would like to be more like her in future because she can be so strong and independent so in my opinion she’s a really one!
plus if you’re a acts of services lover well u won’t be disappointed… do i need to say more?
charlie and nova together are the definition of perfection and the family found was everything and more! but we aren’t surprised right? <3
thank you so netgalley and macmillan for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
One of the EASIEST 5 stars ever given!! The author saved the best for last!!
4th and final book in the lovelight series but can be read as a standalone should you wish, I personally think reading books 1 to 3 (I haven't read 3 yet lol) Just "paints" a fuller story of the little town of Ingewild and its precious community.
Nova is Beckett Porter's youngest (and favorite) sister. Nova is a tattoo artist with plans to open her own tattoo studio in Ingewild where she grew up - there is just SO MUCH to do, she is running on empty, exhausted and needs to chill.
Charlie is Stella's half brother, he surprise's her and Luka with an amazing opportunity (vague for spoilers LOL) and arranges to step in for a month and help run the farm with Beckett and Layla, whilst also working remotely doing his fancy shmancy investors job.
If Charlie is good at anything, it's making people love him and flirting with women - one particular woman has always given as good as she takes - Nova Porter. At an event one night Charlie asks Nova to dance and the chemistry between the two is electric - Charlie's rep as a lady's man is no secret to Nova and she starts to think maybe they can be what the other needs - So Nova asks Charlie if he wants to come home with her.
Charlie tries to escape to Ingewild as often as he can from New York on weekends. Stella is there, and the town and her friends have become his friends and his people. He yearns to have what they have, a place where he belongs and people who care. He will be here for a month - so with no expectations him and Nova strike a deal, aptly named "Business Casual".
This was ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE - Charlie is an absolute blast of a character, he is incredibly hilarious and lovable. Nova is a fire cracker, confidence and independence radiating from her. The banter between the two will have you in stitches - and when the sh*t starts to get real you will be smiling like an idiot and swinging your feet. Serious "found family" vibes. I love when books are light and fluffy but deal with some important, deeper issues xx ADHD and mental health rep in this case.
I appreciate the fact that there was no 3rd act break up and no miscommunication lol - second book in a few weeks I have read with no 3rd act break up scene and I - am - here - for - it!!!
Please read this
I'm so sad this is the last book in the Lovelight series :-(
But, what a way to finish! Bec's book just get better and better.
So, this is Charlie's (Stella's brother) and Nova's (Beckett's sister) story. In a perfect 'small town' style, expect to see all the familiar faces from previous books.
Charlie is in town looking out for the farm while she's on her honeymoon. And so starts the fun...
Neither of these characters are great at knowing, and admitting, what they really want, so I loved how they pushed each other and made each other stronger the closer they became.
A great ending to a great series.
An incredible ending to a very sweet series! I found a new favourite book (sorry, Mixed Signals, I still love you).
I went into this book a bit nervous. Charlie always seemed like a fun character but I didn’t see much depth to him (oh the irony). He could have easily been presented as this clueless playboy that “changes” for the right girl. But that is so not him, and I’m happy I got to know the real Charlie!
The plot: boy keeps coming to the small town where girl lives, cannot stop flirting with girl but loses his marbles when she reciprocates, because he couldn’t even imagine her ever going for a goof like him. Boy enters in a “business casual” agreement with girl. Girl gets to know boy and falls for, under and into him, along with all the readers.
I don’t often claim book boyfriends but if I did it’d be Charlie. This review (as evident by 90% of the quotes) is basically me fawning over him. Don’t get me wrong I liked Nova too, but from the very beginning of the book my mind latched onto Charlie and didn’t let go 🤷♀️ I don’t even have an idea what I related to — we’re nothing alike, except for maybe his anxiety issues. My hat’s off to the author for creating characters that feel real and that we can’t help but root for.
I loved everything — the chemistry, the relationship development, the steam ❤️🔥 and the whole swoon/sob fest that was the 3rd act for me 😭❤️😭
This book has possibly the best, sweetest jealousy scene I’ve ever read. The whole time Charlie was getting frustrated I was going “oh honey come here who needs this lady let me hug you” 🫠
I also loved the sibling relationships, especially (big surprise) Stella and Charlie’s. She could have easily resented him because of their father, but they gave it a try and both found a family with each other.
To conclude this (only slightly obsessive) essay, Charlie is a beautiful, goofy, selfless man who deserved every bit of happiness that he got in the end and more.
Rating:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (yes, another 6 star in the last few months! I’ve been so lucky)
🌶️🌶️🌶️ (by far the steamiest of the series)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am just simply NOT ready to leave Lovelight Farms 😭😭
The fourth and final book in the series and we have Nova and Charlie's romance. Nova is Beckett's youngest sister and Charlie is the half-brother of Stella. More importantly Nova is a tattooist and this was why I was so drawn to her and this book. I'm now desperate to go to Ink & Wild and get my own flower tattoo from her! I absolutely loved their romance together. It was honestly perfect, Charlie is a walking green flag and definitely deserves book boyfriend status. I was rooting for their successes individually and as a couple and this is what matters to me in romance books, that they have good character development and lives outside of their relationship.
There were so many cameos of the other couples, as it is the last book and it just felt like the perfect finale for this incredible romance series.
I don't usually tend to annotate or highlight certain quotes from my books but I couldn't help myself when it comes to B.K. Borison and this quote is the best line I've ever read- “You looked at him the same way you used to look at those expensive fine-point pens when you were a kid. You had little heart eyes.”
Honestly the epilogue was one of the best I’ve ever read. The ending of this book completely has my heart.
I’m so in love with Nova and Charlie and would highly recommend this wonderful series!
5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley, Pan Macmillan and B.K. Borison for the opportunity to read this advanced reader copy.
Review posted to Goodreads and highlighted in an Instagram post. Review to be shared to Amazon and Waterstones on publication date.
I could go on and on about how much I love Charlie and Nova. Tropes include girl-obsessed, small town, opposites attract, secret relationship and black cat fmc. Nova is grumpy to Charlie’s golden retriever. Nova runs this amazing tattoo shop and has been dealing with Charlie flirting with her for a while now. Charlie is so caring and sweet. I loved this so much. I loved Lovelight farms so much too that when I saw this I had to request it. Thank you for this amazing story.
Thank you for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions. I loved this so much.
As a huge fan of this series, I was of course overjoyed when I got approved for the ARC. I love Lovelight Farms and the concept of having one season associated with each book is so much fun, and as a fall girlie I was particularly excited for this one.
This brings me to my only, tiny criticism: I could have done with a bit more fall vibes. I know In The Weeds and Mixed Signals also weren't overly spring/summer, which is why this is just truly my autumn heart wanting alllll the vibes, but it just could have had a little bit more fall magic.
That being said, everything else was amazing and this is my favorite installment of the series.
I absolutely love Nova and Charlie and I could see myself in both of them. Opposites attract mixed with some friends to lovers is just so up my alley, and I also just love when two people fall in love who don't have time for love (without being cynical about it), so everything about this was just delightful.
I also loved the subplots of Nova opening her tattoo studio and Charlie figuring out what to do about his job in New York. The subplot with Nova and her brother Beckett was also great, I love Beckett so much so I was happy that he had a lot of page time in this one.
I really appreciated how well everything flowed together, the plot with Nova and Charlie working on setting up the fall festival blended well with their career-related subplots, which helped progress their character arcs, which helped move the romance along. It was all so well done!
Recently, I've found myself a bit less interested in contemporary romance, but books like this will always be the exception, it had me so giddy and charmed.
And as always, the setting was amazing and I'm so sad that we're leaving this town behind now. I could read another 10 books set here and would never get tired of it!
Overall, an amazing series finale and I can't wait for everyone else to read it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC.
A highly entertaining and enjoyable read! I love B.K Borrison's writing, her books are easy to immerse yourself in the story and are always full of great characters and charming settings. The Lovelight Farms series has been a favorite and I enjoyed getting to know Nova and Charlie's characters in Business Casual, they have become favorites (especially the charming Charlie). I hope the series continues as I need to read more set in their town! Thank you so much for the advanced reading copy.
I have loved every book in this series and this book was the perfect finish to the series.
Nova and Charlie are so lovely together and so right for each other.
Nova is a great main character - she's independent, strong and absolutely determined to do it all alone while looking after everyone around her.
Charlie has his own things going on and really softens her edges. He doesn't try to take over, lets Nova do her thing and is a quite force in the background supporting her.
The chemistry between these two is gorgeous and so believable.
I really enjoyed being back in this small town and with all the familiar characters again. I loved the found family sense of this group and they are just such a lovely bunch to be around - I wish I knew them in real life.
Another fantastic book from BK Borrison
Charlie & Nova ❤️
✨Nova is the youngest sister in the Porter family. Her brother Beckett is the farmer on Lovelight Farms, and he’s always been her biggest cheerleader, even offering himself as a tattoo subject when she was first starting out.
🌿Nova’s back home to set up her own studio and she wants it to be perfect. Charlie, the half brother of Beckett’s business partner Stella, is in town, working remotely from his finance job in NYC, and he’s been helping her.
🥐With Stella on honeymoon in Italy, Charlie and Nova feel open to exploring their attraction for each other. Neither is looking for a relationship, but maybe that’s okay when it’s between the two of them.
📚I read the first three stories in this lovely series back when they were independently published and available in Kindle Unlimited. I was thrilled to be able to read the ARC of Business Casual, book 4 in the series. I did a re-read of In The Weeds (book 2) and Mixed Signals (book 3) with my library card just before tackling Charlie and Nova’s story. It really connected the dots for me, and I loved seeing the little dropped hints in the two previous stories. Coming around to Nova and Charlie, I loved how despite their likely age gap and the various family and town connections, this is treated so beautifully with everyone supporting this much-loved couple without letting them know. Their relationship is steamy, loving and fiercely protective in the nicest ways. I love this story and I am sure you could read this as a standalone, but I think you would be missing out on the full experience. The rest of the series is awesome and totally worth a read!
