In the world of fitness literature, it's rare to find a book that not only instructs but inspires. John 'Lofty' Wiseman's "SAS and Special Forces Fitness Training" is one such gem that stands out for its rigorous approach and comprehensive coverage of physical and mental endurance.
Wiseman, with his extensive experience as a former SAS member, brings authenticity and expertise to every page. The book is not just a collection of exercises; it's a holistic fitness regime that addresses strength, stamina, agility, diet, nutrition, mental agility, and self-defence. It's a testament to Wiseman's understanding that true fitness transcends physical boundaries and enters the realm of mental resilience.
The exercises and routines are meticulously detailed, accompanied by black-and-white photographs and instructive artworks that guide readers through each movement. The inclusion of diet and nutrition chapters underscores the importance of fueling the body correctly to reap the maximum benefits from the workout.
Perhaps the most compelling aspect of the book is its chapters on mental agility and self-defence. In today's fast-paced world, the ability to remain mentally sharp and defend oneself in various situations is invaluable. Wiseman's insights into the challenges of modern combat, drawn from the elite training of the SAS, offer readers a glimpse into the mindset of the world's most formidable military unit.
While the book is an exhaustive guide, it's also a lively read. Wiseman's writing is engaging, making the journey to elite fitness an enjoyable one. The book's structure allows readers to progress at their own pace, making it suitable for both novices and seasoned fitness enthusiasts.
In conclusion, "SAS and Special Forces Fitness Training" is more than a workout programme; it's a blueprint for a lifestyle of discipline, strength, and mental acuity.
It's a must-read for anyone looking to elevate their fitness to the level of the world's elite soldiers.
Interesting read with a lot of factual items. Overall good but not my cup of tea. Yet I still recommend this book for those that like this kind of stuff
There's a lot of programs that borrow from the military, but this is the real deal with proper "soldiering" included. A very comprehensive book with lots of great info and tips, developed over many years. The disposition is very logical and the illustrations are excellent.
This book was well-written and structured for a reader, who was interested in learning about structured physical training. The author of the book described basics such as how to start training with no equipment and how to choose a gym, nutritional and psychological goals when training seriously. The book is written well and illustrations are helpful. Overall, I see this book helpful to anyone, who wants to start physical training, especially young adults population.
