This was a fun read! I liked the main character Penny, and even more so I really liked Sissy and Heath, and their relationship with each other.
Decent pace, suspenseful and fun, and at some points made me so angry I had to put the book down for a while (I mean that in a good way).

Very enjoyable. I galloped through this book, sympathising with Penny for her personal circumstances, repulsed by her parents' lodger, Cooper, and fascinated by the strange goings on.

Recently divorced, in danger of losing her job, and with a dope-smoking son to worry about, Penny's life is already in chaos. The last thing she needs is a body to dispose of - but sometimes that's just the way things work out. Her parents, hale and hearty septuagenarians, have their lives made a misery by the lodger from hell. Somebody has to do something about it, and soon.

This is a fun but gripping novel with great characters for the reader to cheer on or hate with a passion. I'll be looking out for more of Laura Marshall's books from now on.

Penny's parents are in need of some extra cash. So she suggests that they rent out the basement. It will help them out financially and there will be someone around for them. They set about it the right way through an agency. However, their tenant turns out to be anything but perfect. Somehow they have ended up with the person from hell.
Then one night Penny receives a frantic call. She is needed by her parents. Dashing round she discovers them standing over a body. Looks like the tenant problem is sorted but what should she do now. Help her parents hide the body or own up to what has happened.
A super fast read. Makes you think about renting out that spare room!!!!

I have never hated a fictional character more than Cooper Brownlow! The secrets, and twists and turns made me unable to put the book down. A great read.

This book was phenomenal.
It truly had me hooked wondering what was going on as it started with a jump forwards before going back to the present day to see the build up. I had so many preconceptions and guesses that were then totally smashed to pieces as things were unveiled.
The tension build up was amazing as I was left anxiously turning the page wondering how they were going to get away with it and the plot twists were stunning.
Character development throughout felt really well done as information was slowly dropped in and I felt that the pacing was great to keep me invested yet not so quick that I felt rushed.
This was a really fun read. A really great mystery that adds in plenty of humour the further in you get.
Favourite Quote - I've been googling rigor Mortis. It's wildly incriminating should I ever be investigated for Coopers death, but if I am, the fact he's under my parents patio will be more of a giveaway, so I don't worry too much.
Favourite Character - Sissy

When I came across the synopsis of this story, I was excited to read the story. I did enjoy the book and found myself wanting to know what would happen next. I liked the characters of Penny and her parents, Zach was infuriatingly teenage and Martin provided some giggles.
The story was quick paced enough to keep me entertained but I did feel there were twists at the end just for twisty-sake and most of them were easily guessed, hence the 4 stars.

I would recommend this book and did enjoy the read. I will be downloading some of the authors other titles also.

Thank you to the publisher via netgalley for providing an arc of this book. This has in no way influenced my opinion or review.

Wow! I tore through this so quickly, and really didn’t know where it was going throughout.

Normally when a book starts with a flashback then takes half the book to get back there I can find it quite slow, but even the background in this was well paced and engaging.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the style of writing and the main character I found to be tiresome and clichéd. Not my favourite.

It was not what I was expecting from the synopsis, and it was unfortunately a bit disappointing. For me, the book started at the halfway point, the first 50% of the book were not to my liking at all. I was bored. From the synopsis, I thought the book was going to start at the murder, and go from there in the aftermath. But the aftermath only starts at the 50%. From that point on, my interest in the plot has melted. Some aspects were interesting enough but overall, it was too slow and uninteresting to me. Because of my own expectations.

This was so good! A really enjoyable read that it's probably best not to know too much about before starting, so I feel limited in what I should say. It's not giving away too many spoilers though to say that there's a tenant from hell, and also that you underestimate the older generation at your peril.

Our narrator is Penny, fifty year old divorced single mum to eighteen year old Zach, and daughter to the magnificent Sissy and Heath. As the elderly parents are struggling financially, they decide to take in a lodger, the superficially charming Cooper Brownlow. Big mistake. Big, big mistake.

I loved how the story developed and I especially loved the characters. It was incredibly refreshing - if a little unsettling at times - to see how the older characters are portrayed. The rug gets pulled out from under us more than once. I liked Penny, too, whose struggles - with her son, her parents, her work, her ex-husband - are very relatable. Cooper is a horror.

As situations escalate from bad to worse, it was hard to predict where things were going. Brilliant read.

I loved other books I have read by Laura Marshall so I was very excited for this one and it did not disappoint. I loved the combination of murder and humour, great read overall.

When your elderly parents decide to let their ground floor flat to the tenant from hell something has to be done.

What Penny does is be taken in by the wily charms of Cooper who insists he's just a good guy who's had some bad luck.

Fast paced and with twists you don't see coming, How to Hide a Body is a must for anyone who is the child of parents who may be growing older but are just possibly getting wiser.

A thrilling romp

Recently divorced Penny is juggling more than your average 50 something mum… supporting her parents as they age, keeping her son on the right side of the law and attempting to work.

Cooper moves into the annexe as part of a plan to help Pennys parents pay the bills. Visitors arrive at all hours of the night. They soon realise that you never really know who you are renting to.

Seduced by your parents tenant… Where does your loyalty lie? Exploring the lengths you’ll go to as a daughter… What do you do with a dead body?

Perfect for those who enjoy:
- Not knowing what’s going to happen next
- Attention grabbing first chapter
- Stay up all night reading
- Easy read thrillers
- Unlikely criminals fiction

I really enjoyed this book , it had some funny moments and more that were darker comedy and I think my favourite character has to be Sissy who’ is sharp, devious and deadly, I really would love to be like her (apart from the killer aspect). I haven’t read anything by this author before and would have no hesitation in reading more of her books.

A real thrilling read which was also hilarious. I wonder how many people will read this and relate to the daughter and the parents, apart from the murder part!
Entertaining throughout, well written characters and a really unique storyline.
Many thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.

I really enjoyed the author’s previous two novels and was drawn to the intriguing synopsis of A Good Place to Hide a Body.
I really enjoyed the first half of the novel, the horrendous scenario of having a bad tenant that you can’t get rid of, the family relationships between Penny and her parents and also her son and her ex husband. It’s a really well paced novel and was a very quick read for me. However about three quarters of the way through it became more of a cosy crime mystery, a caper involving Penny’s parents and a dead body and the plot became a bit ridiculous. However, it was still a fun and enjoyable read , just not quite what I was expecting. 3.5 stars.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

We all know that dealing with family relationships can be murder, but surely that's not meant to be taken literally?

Unfortunately for Penny, she finds out just how far her commitment to looking after her elderly parents is going to test her moral values, when they call her up to deal with a rather unfortunate matter involving a corpse...

This is a funny, sharp and enjoyable story which provides plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader's attention fully occupied. It gets 3.5 stars for delivering pure entertainment!

A rollercoaster ride of a story with lots of twists and turns. Penny is surprised when the tenant isn't who he seemed to be, but then again... he isn't the only one.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Delicious…
We all want to help our parents in any way that we can - right? Well, mostly, yes. But, just how far would you go? What exactly would be….well, let’s call it ..a stretch? Penny gets to make just such a decision when her parents call her one day and..it turns out that everyone is indeed capable of murder…if the circumstances and the victim call for just that. Thoroughly entertaining, hugely enjoyable and extremely amusing tale with a pacy and unrelenting plot populated with a deftly drawn, keenly observed and credible cast of eclectic characters. A wholly delicious, whip smart and immersive one sit read for this reader who simply could not put it down.
