It's difficult to depict childhood love with a refreshing perspective such as this one. The author's take was airy but meaningful, light but with depth. The tight=knittedness of the main characters was well-conveyed by the readers, and the effects of the pandemic of school life an ambitions was portrayed very well. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series, and look forward to the author's future series as well!
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy for an honest review

Thank you Netgalley for giving me this earc. For someone who is really a newbie in reading mangas, I am really into romance genre. I love the slow burn romance of the story and I cannot wait for the next volume!

“Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You” is a charming manga that explores the complexities of young love and friendship.
On her 17th birthday, Mizuha faces disappointment when her parents forget and her crush doesn't reciprocate her feelings.
However, when her Longtime childhood friend asks her out, Mizuha must navigate the complexities of their evolving relationship while grappling with her shifting emotions and the possibility of change.
This was a cute and delightful read. A great start to the series. I will be looking into reading the next in the series!
super cute YA graphic novel! not my usually genre so had to give constructive feedback since I’m not quite sure what makes a graphic novel good/bad. but I really enjoyed this and was perfect for a quick read when I was feeling like a full on novel!
I think this was a very interesting way to start a series. The main character an adult, but starts thinking back to the year 2020 when she was in high school and Covid was causing all sorts of mayhem. I do think that this is going to be a really relatable series for many teens and young adults out there who went through something similar. As an adult I can only imagine how tough it was missing out on so many important milestones in high school - many that you only get to experience once or twice.
On the other hand, I can relate to the main character with her friend group, hanging with mostly guys - that's how it was when I was in middle school and high school. It also seems pretty accurate that while some of the boys may see you as an annoying little sister, or just one of the guys, at least one is bound to catch feelings and issues will ensue.
It had me thinking the entire time, when are we going to flip back to present time and not just stay stuck in the main character's memories. I'm curious if she is going to end up with any of the guys from her past currently, or if she's still friends with them, or just how the whole thing played out. I'm really into this series right from the get-go and excited to read the next volume when it's available.
Thank you to #NetGalley for an e-copy of #AnywayImFallingInLoveWithYou by by Haruka Mitsui to read and review.
Anyway, I'm Falling In Love With You offers a pretty slick character design, but if you came here looking for a shoujo manga that does anything worthwhile with the premise of a romance in Covid realities, maybe re-adjust your expectations. The covid premise is barely there, but what is there in spades is your typical reverse harem set-up. I mean, if you like that, by all means, but I'm deeply unimpressed and won't be picking up any subsequent volumes.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It gave me those squealing heart pounding emotions while reading it. It left me off wanting to know what's going to happen next. I'm so hooked I can't wait to read the next book.
This is going to be a fun series, you can already tell by the first volume. I like the concept of the one girl in a friend group full of boys, its a classic trope. So far, the boys introduced have distinct personalities though Kizuki's childish approach to romance is not something I'm 100% on board with but again, this is the first volume so I'd like to see how his character grows.

Volume 1 of Anyway, I’m Falling in Love With You reminded me in the best and worst ways of those early 90s and 2000s shoujo mangas’ whose high drama and pacing delighted me even as they made for uneven reading experiences.
It’s a promising start. Mizuha’s a high school student, conveniently childhood friends with four attractive boys. She’s an aspiring manga artist and inexperienced in romance. When one of those four friends confesses his feelings for her and begins flirting in earnest, she’s out of her depth, overwhelmed by new feelings and the danger this presents to the friend group. To say nothing of her old crush coming back around!
So much happens in each volume in a kind of melodramatic haze that it’s hard not to gasp aloud. The downside is of course that you’re given so little time to get to know anyone before being thrust into this mess of hormones and crushes. If you can stay with it, it’s fun but I can easily see that being a problem for readers looking for a more conventional tone.
There’s also, of course, the fact the story takes place in 2020, a manga written during the outbreak of COVID that had to adjust to that new reality. On one hand, its existence, beyond being hard to accept in our high drama high school tale, is often just awkward. Characters never mask and regularly attend class even as we’re told events are being canceled left and right. On the other hand, there’s some sweet intentions in how our characters try to find new ways to still have their high school years (a camp trip in the backyard, a new motivation for a sport). If you’re cautious about material about the pandemic though, I might pass on this, just since it hasn’t quite justified itself narratively and yet is still so clearly here.
It’s got my attention, but we’ll have to see if it finds its pacing. Readers missing that high drama, everything happening rush of 2000s shoujo manga might find that itch scratched here.
I was going into this pretty blindly, the cover is what drew me in at first glance, I kept reading because the story is very cute and the art is absolutely amazing.
I'm out of high school now but could still enjoy it, there were things I could look on fondly, it's definitely worth the read but can see adults not really enjoying it and it being more aimed at high school aged.
I'll be reading the series as it comes out and I can't wait to see how it develops!
I have recently got back into graphic novels/manga and I really enjoyed this one, I do feel that parts of this story have been jumped to fast but I expect it will expand as we get more volumes, this is definitely a series I will continue as high school romances are definitely up my street.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the free e-ARC (my first one ever!!!) in exchange for an honest review!
Read this volume in one sitting, and now I need the rest of the series immediately. The art is beautiful and definitely makes up for the occasional rushed pacing. I still got the gist of things, but I did find myself going back a few pages to make sure I didn’t gloss over key details.
I adored the core group of friends, and I’m excited to see where the story goes in terms of the developing romances against the backdrop of COVID-19. And I just read that an anime is in the works, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for that :)
I am a big fan of Ao Haru Ride by Io Sakisaka and before I started reading this manga I thought they would be similar, so I had really big expectations. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Anyway, I am falling in love with you as much as I hoped I would.
The art style is truly a work of art! The storyline is interesting, especially for fans of friends to lovers trope. And it had so much potential.
However, I didn't like the fact that the story was moving so fast, I understand that this is a manga and not a 300-page book, but before I could even remember the names of the main characters one of the guys started confessing love to his crush.
The first volume ended on a cliffhanger and I hope the second one is going to be better.
This was a cute first volume! I just don't think I can relate to these kinds of high school dramas anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If you want to read a reverse harem about a high school girl who's got gorgeous male best friends and is too blind to see that (at least) one of them is in love with her, then this is the next read for you! And it takes place in 2020. And the art is cute! That's my short and cute synopsis~
This manga is super cutesy and fun to read. I loved the illustrations from the very beginning and finished vol 1 very quickly. I was rooting for Kizuki and found myself physically reacting to certain scenes in the manga. I loved it, interested to see how the story continues in the following volumes!
Art was really nice and I thought I’d insta-like it because it’s childhood friends to lovers but I WAS WRONG!!!! The pacing was NOT GOOD. I just felt like the entire thing was so rushed that it made me grossed out by the male lead being so AGGRESSIVE in his pursuit. I had high hopes for this but did not buy into any of it unfortunately.
I think it's awesome how there are more Shojo titles that are getting official English publication.
If you're not a fan of high school romance, love triangles and friends-to-lover trope, I recommend skipping this one. This series leans heavily into these two tropes. I did find the first volume to be cute.
