Really cute manga about a girl and her friend group made up of 4 boys and suddenly one confessed his feeling to her .
This would be such a good anime which I just saw the announcement for it , the scene when they have a mini bbq and sleep in the tents would make such a cute episode.
I can’t wait to read the next volumes to find out about her relationships with the rest of the boys
Thanks for the arc
Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You is a story about a group of five childhood best friends as they navigate their youth and deal with life and relationships in the beginning of the Corona-virus pandemic.
First off, the artystle is GORGEOUS. I'm a sucker for eye-catching art as it makes the reading experience so much better. To be completely honest, the cover was what made me want to pick up this manga, and it definitely wasn't deceiving, it's beautiful inside and out.
Story wise, I don't think much can be said as this is the first volume and it's setting up the vibe and atmosphere, but it for sure is not boring. Right off the bat there are confessions and conflicted feelings and it makes you want to see what happens next. As in mangakas previous works, there is a sport aspect to the story, and this time it's swimming. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like a good sports romance, so that is a big plus.
As it is with the story, we're only briefly meeting the characters, so I honestly can't wait to see how all of their relationships work and to get to know them all better in the future volumes.
The only thing I was worried about was the pandemic aspect. I feared it would be depressing and heavily discussed, but it turns out I didn't have to worry about that at all. It was actually very uplifting and hopeful from the very beginning, and I have high hopes it will stay that way throughout the story.
Mangaka said in the afterword that she wanted to 'write stories that would give students hope' and despite the uncertain times that they would be able to look back at their memories and think fondly of them, and so far, honestly, I think she's been successful at sending out that message.
I'll surely be reading the rest of the story in the near future!
Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for a free e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I think I’ll continue this series. I’ve read a few mangas here and there, so I had some expectations (even if I don’t agree with it) going in. This seemed to have gone into the pandemic a bit lightly. We see events being cancelled, but that’s about it, we barely touched the surface.
Since this is set in a high school setting, everyone’s acting as I expected to. But I have no idea what direction we’re going. We have a love triangle for sure, Kizuki came on a bit stronger than I liked, but I feel like his feelings are bit misplaced when it comes to Mizuho.
Sure enough, it ends on a little cliffhanger. We shall see how it goes. Not too bad of a read, a decent start to this series. I really liked the art and it developed as the story went on.
I received a digital copy through Netgalley and Kondansha Comics, this review is my own opinion.
Reading "Anyway, I'm Falling In Love With You" was like a breath of fresh air to me in terms of a shoujo manga read! It's reverse harem, childhood friends-to-maybe-something-more, and there's a time jump to the FMC's future self that sets up the story... it's got a lot going on in a good way! It honestly kept me on my toes for a majority of the first volume because there are just so many potential love interests and ways the story could end up going! I felt like (being the shoujo fan I admittedly am) I was trying to look for any potential signs that could lead to an end game character for Mizuha, our FMC. But I didn't come up with any solid answers beyond the fact that I want it to Kizuki.
I should mention the art style is phenomenal! I was blown away by how beautiful some of the page spreads were and the cover with one of our potential male love interests, Kizuki *swoons on spot* I also recently heard that this tile was picked up for an anime in the future so that's super exciting! Can't wait to see where that goes and to catch up on what's out in the Japanese before the anime comes out eventually.
And excited to snag a physical copy in stores of this one now that's officially out in the world!
As stated in the review, I think this one is perfect for fans of "Skip & Loader," but I would also add that I think fans of "Ima Koi", "Lovesick Ellie" and "Gazing at the Star Next Door" would enjoy this read a lot!
I was surprised I liked this so much. I'm not usually a fan when it's one girl and all her guy friends are secretly in love with her. But this one seems like it's going to play the trope well, especially with the onslaught of the COVID pandemic on the horizon.
Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review!
This is a reverse harem manga taking place during the pandemic and unfortunately the only thing I really enjoyed about it was the art. I was thinking the pandemic would play more of a role in the story besides just canceling their school activities. It didn't seem like their high school/everyday lives were even interrupted by the pandemic that much. I also wasn't a fan of the main male lead. He is really pushing his feelings onto the main female lead, who repeatedly doesn't seem to be interested in him romantically. At the end of the volume, we are introduced to a new rival for Kizuki (the main male lead). As I mentioned before, the art is really cute and has the typical shojo feel.
Thanks to Netgalley for this arc! Unfortunately it's not the kind of story for me. The drawings are really very beautiful, but unfortunately I feel that for a first volume everything went very quickly. I was expecting something more about the period in which the protagonist finds herself, which instead is only hinted at, as well as more slowness on the relationship between the two characters. I'm very sorry, I expected something more!
The story starts in the year 2030 on Mizuho's birthday that isn't going very well. This makes her reflect on her 17th birthday 10 years earlier, where the boy she likes doesn't seem interested in her, and her childhood best friend, Kizuki, confesses he wants to be her boyfriend.
These are some of the things I really liked about Anyway I'm Falling In Love with You.
1) The use of flashbacks to when her and Kizuki are around elementary school aged kids, was helpful to me in understanding their friendship, and why Mizuho is perhaps hesitant to have a romantic relationship with him.
2) The dynamic between Mizuho and her 4 male childhood friends is the cutest and fluffiest element for this story.
3) Great mix of humor and angst that I like in romances.
Overall, Anyway I'm Falling In Love With You, was very enjoyable to me. I plan to read the other volumes in the Manga series to see where the storyline takes Mizuho and Kizuki. I would recommend for anyone 14+ looking for a new romance series to start.
This manga is so cute! It is your traditional high school romance manga that follows a friend group as they navigate relationships and feelings. Many of them are childhood friends who have become popular as they entered high school. One of the love interests, a childhood boy best friend, confesses his feelings to her and is trying to convince her to date him. However, there wouldn't be drama and this wouldn't be a manga if there wasn't another love interest. The manga is going to continue exploring these relationships. This gives me Horimaya vibes, which is an anime I love.
Thank you to NetGalley, Kodansha Comics, and Haruka Mitsui for the opportunity to read this manga in exchange for an honest review.
Art: 5/5
Story: 3.5/5
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, social events get cancelled left and right, but at least Mizuha has her four best friends to spend her time with, though they are all boys. Despite being friends since childhood, there are bound to be some developed feelings. When Kizuki admits his feelings, Mizuha isn't sure whether she should take it as a joke or something serious. Either way, she doesn't want to ruin her friendship.
It is interesting to see the pandemic displayed in this manga. It is a very generic high school friends-to-lovers trope and if the pandemic wasn't mentioned, the reader wouldn't even be able to tell that that that is the setting time period. There isn't really social distancing or school closures, just public event cancellations. It seems like a large cultural difference between my experience in the U.S. and the experience of these students in Japan.
The art is exceptional and is the main driving force for me with this manga. The story falls a bit flat or has some awkward pacing with little build-up, but hey, the art style can't be beat, so it evens out. The start of a decent shoujo romance.
~thank you, netgalley, and the publisher for the e-arc~

First things first, the cover is really pretty. It's the first thing that made me want to read this manga.
Not gonna lie, this was somehow cute. However, the characters were just not so so to me in this volume. Both couple pairing wasn't that likeable to me for now.
Still, I think I'm gonna continue this series and see for myself how this will turn out
The drawing and details was very soft, gentle. I felt this was a nice little light romance, feel good. I loved the dynamics between the friends, each having their own personalities, ambitions and not solely dependent on the mfc future. I do feel this is not super original but most of the high school romances are not. I felt the chapters were a bit short, and overall it seemed a bit rushed and not immersed much into before adding the romance element. I wanted to get more of a feel of the characters, and their livelihood before diving into the romance. I do appreciate the character none being overly needy/whiny that a lot do have. I was giggly over the characters and their love for each other, how they interacted was such a good feeling, that left you feeling in awe.
Mizuha is a 17-year-old girl who has been part of a group of five best friends since childhood. She had a crush on a guy from the swim team but unfortunately got rejected on her birthday. On the same day, she finds out that Kizuki, one of her best friends, has feelings for her, which puts her in a difficult situation. She is worried that things might change between them.
This manga takes place during the pandemic. A mystery virus broke out, and everything slowly shut down.
I don’t like how Kizuki is pushy towards Mizuha; he should respect her decision, understand her, and give her some space.
I particularly liked the artwork, which is beautiful. It was very fast-paced. I enjoy the story and characters. I’m keen to read the next volume and see where the story goes.
Seems interesting so far. I love the art style too.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I get the he likes her and he is gonna do everything in his power to make her like him, but it think it sometimes crosses the line. In this one it just gave me the ick a little bit. I probably won't follow the series.
I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
thank you Netgalley for the ARC. I would not be continuing this series as its not really interesting to me. The plot is just boring and I am not interested in reading about everyone and their father falling for the female lead because she’s kind and pretty but she’s not perfect cause shes dumb and is clumsy. Its all very stereotypical. The pacing is too fast paced for me and I really dont like the dark hair male character that has a crush on the female lead. He crosses so many boundaries and doesn’t take no for an answer and doesn’t respect the fl choices. Two times they kissed and both times they were non consensual. And I can already tell that he would be the endgame love interest. So yeah I would not be continuing the series which is a shame cause I was intrigued by the pandemic plot and exploring the affects that it had on teenagers and the drastic consequences it had on teenagers’ lives. Never read a coming of age manga about that before and as one of the teenagers who’s life was changed because of the pandemic i was really curious and tbh was ready to become obsessed with the series. Unfortunately it seems as if this manga would focus on the romance between the girl and her four love interests and none of the relationships are interesting to me.
Short and sweet.
This manga volume mostly set up the characters for the story, so everything is in its beginning stages. There were many common themes that are typically seen in shoujo manga, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. The story follows childhood friends that are now in high school - four boys and one girl. It seems like all of the male characters might fall for the female lead, so we might expect some relationship drama, as is typical with this genre.
The main male lead seems sweet, but he is taking quite an aggressive approach to their relationship in order to make the female lead notice him. I would’ve wanted to see more development with the other male characters as well, since the story is currently very focused on one of the characters.
Overall, not a bad start to the manga. It was fluffy and sweet, which is what I want in a shoujo manga. Excited to see where the story goes from here!
Omg!!! This manga is so sweet, and full of enjoyable moments. It's a high school shoujo manga where the heroine is really sweet and innocent, and she has four male childhood best friends. I truly recommend it. Everyone should be reading it if you haven't yet.
This one was cute.
It's about a girl with 4 childhood friends, one of them being in love with her. The art is lovely and I like the character design of the male lead; he has a youthful look that is unique. A global pandemic is occuring (apparently it's the year 2020, could be Covet-19. I'm not sure because for me it was a sudden lockdown, not the gradual virus that seems to be shutting down activities slowly as depicted in this manga).
Although the female lead has four male friends, I hope they don't all fall in love with her. It would be nice to show platonic friendship in a manga for once. Rooting for a clear childhood friends to lovers without too many love rivals.
I had to give this a 3.25 - 3.5 because it looks like there might be a love triangle (I had flashbacks to a certain manga) and the male lead is a bit too pushy. It's a light shoujo read, which I enjoyed reading of course. The cliffhanger at the end of this volume is quite effective because now I really want to read the next volume.
Thank you so much to Kodansha and NetGalley for the ARC, my thoughts are my own.
The year is now 2030, and the female lead named Mizuho is reminded of her youthful past and the events that came along with it a decade prior. The story takes place in 2020, at the very start of COVID-19 shutdowns.
Volume 1 consists of 4 episodic chapters, 125 pages. The story kept reminding me of the well-known series "Boys Over Flowers". The first volume mostly centers on the love triangle between Mizuho, Kizuki, and Saito.
Readers should be aware that this series seems to also play into the aggressive male interest trope, in which the childhood friend forces confrontation and makes a move without expressed consent out of jealousy.
While this trope is problematic, the story seems to play out as a normal multiple-romantic-lead cliche. Readers who are a fan of the show mentioned might find this appealing. When making a story that takes place in COVID-19, it might me more difficult to portray in
an accurate way because of how recent the pandemic was. For this same reason, readers may find the COVID-19 element off-putting. Unfortunately, the story did not have an element to draw the reader into the story, or for it to be a story that you would pick up after reading.
