Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read and review this manga
I like how there’s a friendship with the characters right at the start instead of a buildup, I also like that there’s a swim team story that's not FREE. The plot also seems intriguing and fun as well especially with the realistic approach of 2020 and how high schoolers in Japan were handling it. My only only Issue is that all of the dudes in this manga look the same to me, so I don’t know who’s who!!! Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars

When I read the book summary, I was instantly intrigued transferred back to the days when I would consume shoujo like crazy. Unfortunately, this book did not really speak to me. I found the premise cute, the childhood friend who you never really noticed and suddenly they're all you can see, but there was a lack of chemistry between them. There was not much development in the story, no plot development, no character development, nothing. Instead of reading a whole book it felt like I read 1 chapter of a manga. We would jump from scene A to scene B randomly when much more could have been done in scene A, often leaving me confused and unsatisfied. However, the story has a promising beginning and does seem very cute, so I can see others enjoying it.

I read this in one sitting! Once I started reading I just couldn't put it down. It was so fun to read and I really got a sense of that high school experience and the feelings you feel when you're younger and in the middle of a love triangle. I was gutted at the end as I so desperately want to know what happens next!!
The illustrations were gorgeous and it felt like each of the boys had a different vibe to them while still all having similarities to each other so you can see why they are close friends and get on so well. The cover was what caught my attention as the image was just *chefs kiss* and the colour palette was so so pretty, but it was the playful storyline and cliff-hanger that has made me want to re-read with a giant cup of tea and stay for the next part. I can't wait to see where the story goes!

"for me... every day gets my heart racing."

"life without manga wouldn't be the end of the world, but reading can lift and replenish the soul."

i saw the title and immediately requested this because i was so intrigued! i loved the artwork in this graphic novel! overall, the story was cute and really fast paced. something that i found weird and even uncomfortable though was when kizuki would kiss mizuho without her consent. she even told him to leave her alone but he did not take no for answer, so i really didn't like that. some of the tropes in this manga are childhood best friends to lovers and sports romance, so if you like those then i recommend!

"Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You" follows a young teen girl, Mizuho, who has been best friends with 4 boys since childhood. However, when one of them starts coming on to her, she doesn't know what to do, as she has never thought of him as anything other than a friend.

I really liked the artwork in this manga, it's your classic teen romance kind of style. The characters are well drawn with a ton of detail on their clothing/backgrounds/etc.

In terms of the story, I felt very uncomfortable in the fact that Kizuki keeps kissing Mizuho without her consent. She even asks him to leave her alone for a while, but he still keeps going after her. This is a classic case of "no means no" but the guy just won't give up. If the author had done it just a bit differently, I would have really liked this novel, but lack of consent is a really big issue for me, especially since this volume is targeted towards teens. I wouldn't want this type of relationship romanticized.

My other issue is the timeline with covid just seems way off. They keep saying its summer 2020, but the pandemic started in March 2020. Everything would have been shut down already by the time this novel happens. Am I missing something?

3/5 stars. Could be great with a few tweaks, but I will not be continuing due to the non consensual relationship that seems to be blossoming.

Thank you so much to netgalley and Kodansha Comics for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
