You’ve got mail.

A series of neatly addressed envelopes drop through the letterboxes of the occupants of Mandalay Close – threatening letters of exposure, which most choose to ignore. Lena, post messy break up with her partner of eleven years, moves into the close on the day the letters begin to arrive. Are the two events connected? Several people think so, and Lena starts to regret her decision to move into the prestigious area.

Although this starts off a bit dull and unevenly paced, once it gets going, it does become interesting and very entertaining reading. It’s told through several points of view and this works well as you get a fly on the wall insight behind some closed doors and it’s far from pretty. These are not very likeable people which they often hide behind a veneer of respectability, and some are very nasty, reprehensible characters.

It becomes really intriguing as situations escalate and trying to figure out whodunnit it has your suspicions twitching back-and-forth from one suspect to the next as there are so many to choose from. There are some good red herrings and twists though your head does spin a bit towards the end with all the big reveals.

There is one point of view which I find hard to buy into because it’s from the perspective of an eight-year-old, bright or not, it does not sound like any eight-year-old that I know.

Overall though, it’s an easy read and hits the entertainment mark.

With thanks to NetGalley, and especially to Boldwood Books for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by author Joanne Ryan, but I am looking forward to checking out more from her. Don't Let Her In is a thriller told from multiple points of view that weave a web that ultimately comes together in the end. This book was a quick read that drew me in from the first page as we follow Lena through a trying (to say the least!) year. When she moves into the carriage house on Mandalay Close, she knows it's not her dream house but will this move become her worst nightmare? Give it read and find out!

This was such a fantastic thriller I was hooked from start to finish it was such an addictive read. There was so many twists and turns which I did not see coming. It was such a well written thriller with characters well developed. Highly recommended.

Lena moves into a new neighborhood where everyone has secrets. Soon after she arrives, a number of neighbors get notes threatening to expose their secrets everyone thinks is was Lena that sent them but Lena has her own secrets which she wants to keep hidden.

This was a fantastic thriller. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Book Title: Don’t Let Her In
Author: Joanne Ryan
Publisher: Boldwood Books
Genre: Psychologtical Thriller
Pub Date: April 18, 2024
My Rating: 5 Stars
Pages: 350

After eleven years together Gareth decides he rather live with his new girlfriend – who is eighteen and he is thirty-five. So Lena moves out of four-bedroom home they shared and is now renting 7A - a one-bedroom coach house in ‘Mandalay Close’.

Before she moves a letter arrives via mail . . . .
You should be ashamed of yourself sir,
People like you don’t deserve to live.
Six of the best, you dirty bastard.

Once she moves in she meets Oliver and Rachel Anderson her neighbors in #8.
She remembers his name but never met him. Lena used to work for Horton’s Insurance but has been running her cleaning business for over five years and has thirty cleaners. One of her cleaner Trish was employed by Oliver who would often cancel at the last minute. Although the policy states a 24 hr. notice is required or will be charge, Oliver would be outraged.
Other odd things start to happening. Oliver tries to make Lena’s life miserable- then he disappears.
Now someone is found dead in Lena’s garage.

Story is told from the POV of several of the neighbors
(Trust me this is one wacko neighborhood! )

The blurb states ~ A completely jaw-dropping psychological thriller, perfect for fans of K.L. Slater, Lisa Jewell and Sue Watson.
I believe another author should be added - To me this reads like a Freida McFadden – one of my favorite Psychological Thriller writers. She is so clever ~ known as “The Plot-Twist Queen” so this story seemed like something she would write!

This was my first Joanne Ryan now I am anxious to read another!

Thank NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 18, 2024.

After breaking up with her partner, Lena decides to move and finds the perfect place in Mandalay Close. There she meets some very peculiar neighbours. At the same time, these neighbours start receiving letters threatening to reveal their secrets.
A book in which although Lena is the main protagonist, we also have different POVs of the neighbours who little by little reveal their secrets and that not everything is so idyllic in the neighbourhood.
The theme of the anonymous is interesting and although it is true that the neighbours had secrets it is also true that the conclusion that is given to the theme, in my opinion, is rushed and not fully explained.
Although I found the book a little slow, overall it is a pleasant and easy read.

Lena just moved to Mandalay Close. She needed a new start, since her boyfriend cheated her out of the happy-ever-after she’d believed they were always going to share. But on the day Lena moves in, letters begin to arrive for all her new neighbors. Letters that promise to expose everyone’s deepest, darkest secrets. Every house has received one - except for Lena’s.

I was hooked from the first page. Fast paced, lots of less-than-perfect people in a 'perfect' neighborhood. Wonderful twists and turns and an ending that took me by surprise (which is hard to do!). Great read!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

Lena moves thinking she is going to a nice quiet upscale neighborhood thinking life will be better. Little did she know that everyone has secrets and some are willing to kill to keep the secrets hidden.

Some truly awful people but makes for highly entertaining reading.

Title: Don't Let Her In by Joanne Ryan
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Pub Date: April 18, 2024

The pacing on this book was a little slow for a thriller/suspense (in my opinion), though it was well written. All of the characters are cheating on each other and that made them all very unlikeable. It was difficult to feel sorry for Lena for her husbands infidelity because she was doing unsavory things too. The multiple POV helped move the story along, and although I guessed what was going to happen, I appreciated the twist at the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of Don’t Let Her In by Joanne Ryan due to be published April 18, 2024.
Lena just moved after her cheating boyfriend asked her to leave “his house”. When she moves in, her neighbors receive letters that threaten to expose all their deep, dark secrets. Lena is the only one who doesn’t get a letter. Someone wants to blame her, but who? Bad things start happening that are out of Lena’s control. Whose secrets will be exposed?
This was definitely a fast read – I couldn’t put it down. The neighbors all had secrets that were revealed throughout the book – some of them connected to others.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced book with twists and turns, Don’t Let Her In is for you!
This was my first book by Joanne Ryan, but it won’t be my last!

I have read a couple of Psychological Thrillers that the author has written, and she is always a “must read” for me. She has written a riveting, fast-paced psychological thriller with perfect timing and pacing to draw you in and keep you engaged with the characters and the storyline. There are twists and surprises throughout the book that keep you intrigued, and the ending was shocking final reveal. It gave me everything I love in a suspense thriller from the easy, fast-paced storyline to the intriguing plot and unexpected twists. I recommend this book. other thrillers to serious psychological thriller fans that like a fast-paced, suspenseful, and well-written story.

Lena left her BF of 11 years after he cheated on her. Now she is living in Mandalay Close. With a successful cleaning business, Lena is determined to get her life in order.

Lena moves in to Madalay Close and it’s quiet upscale street, but her neighbors are weird. Arthur next door has accused Lena of making a mess on his driveway – which she never did. She knew he was bad news. On the other side is Prue, a kind woman who is taking care of her elderly mother, but something seems off to Lena.

Then one night there is a tragic event and Lena is the prime suspect. How will Lena prove herself innocent when she’s hiding many of her own secrets??

A slow burn, that good really good half-way point. Stick with it, you’ll understand why the slow beginning. I’d definitely read more by this author.

This book is an absolutely incredible! From the moment I started reading, I was completely captivated by the gripping storyline and the well-crafted characters. The author expertly weaves together suspense, mystery, and psychological elements, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I found myself constantly guessing and second-guessing, trying to unravel the secrets hidden within the pages. There’s so many unexpected twists that happened, things I would have never guessed and I LOVE that!

One of the things I loved most about this book is the way the author delves deep into the minds of the characters, exploring their fears, desires, and vulnerabilities. It made them feel incredibly real. There’s multiple POVs, the main character Lena and some of the neighbours too. It was really interesting to read from the perspective of some of the neighbours and how they dealt with their life and other things that happened in the book.

The plot twists in this book are masterfully executed. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, there would be a curveball thrown in that left me shocked and eager to read on. The suspense built up beautifully, and the resolution was satisfying and thought-provoking.

Overall, Don't Let Her In is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and suspenseful novels. It will keep you guessing until the very end and leave you wanting more. I definitely recommend preordering or getting the book once it’s released!

This had me hooked right from the start, and it got better and better. When lena splits from her partner of 11 years, she rents a coach house in a nice part of town. Only there are some very strange people living in Mandalay Close and a lot of odd things happening. Oliver next door tries everything to make lenas life miserable. Could he have a past connection to lena??. Then there's a murder in the close and found in lenas garage. Who can it be? Who did it? Someone is watching!!!!! It appears everyone in Mandalay Close is hiding something. I found this book a proper page turner and more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, and lots of I didn't see that coming moments. A great physcological thriller. It's definitely worth reading

Mandalay Close is a perfectly respectable suburban street of the kind seen all over Britain. People take care of their gardens and cars, except for onr or two rogue residents. But it's rife with crime and intrigue, as cleaning company owner Lena discovers when she rents an apartment in The Coach House.

Poison pen letters are being sent to nearly everyone (although no-one is keen to talk about it), and Lena discovers the family next door is extremely odd.

I felt a bit impatient with Lena and how she couldn't break free from her cheating ex, who had taken up with an 18 year old and refused to pay Lena back for her massive investments in their house.

Her friend Kate was not the type of friend she wanted, always wanting to borrow money.

There's a nice selection of red herrings and characters who either seem blameless, or appear very suspicious. By the end of the book you're reeling from murders, adulterous trysts, paranoia and false accusations. Hugely enjoyable.

Lena just moved to Mandalay Close. She needed a new start, since her boyfriend cheated her out of the happy-ever-after she’d believed they were always going to share.
But on the day Lena moves in, letters begin to arrive for all her new neighbours. Letters that promise to expose everyone’s deepest, darkest secrets. Every house has received one - except for Lena’s.
Someone clearly wants to implicate her, to ruin her new life and turn everyone against her. She’s made an enemy, but who, and why? Everyone seems so nice, so trustworthy. So normal.
As more bad things happen and her life rapidly spins out of control, Lena finds herself unable to believe this is happening to her. After all, she’s not a bad person. Though she does have secrets of her own, secrets that she’s not willing to share with anyone…

I have mixed feelings about this book. The positives being it sucks you in straight away and the character of Lena is very likeable and you actually care what happens to her. 'Don't Let Her In' is a well rounded thriller and a good quick read.

The not so positives - the blurb mentions the letters the neighbours have received, which made me think this would be the main focus point of the novel, yet its really not. Yes, this is mentioned a few times but honestly this part of the plot could just been left out. Even when the reader finds out who the write of these letters are its not even delved into the whys or the hows.

The book plods along a a good speed but there are parts that are undeveloped and don't really add to the story and seemed to be more fillers then substance.

'Don't Let Her In' is a solid 3 stars from me and would be keen to read other Joanne Ryan books to compare to.

Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Joanne Ryan for the opportunity of reading and reviewing this ARC.
