Shari Lapena is a must read for me. Her suburban crime thrills never fail to excel.
I felt with this that Lapena stepped outside of her usual style but it remained incredible.
An unsettling crime thriller about the murder of a teenage girl and the dark secrets her small town holds.

A tense thriller that will have you hooked from the start. It begins with the body of a young girl being found on farmland. She’s a popular student and her death shocks the small quiet town. A place where people didn’t feel the need to lock their doors, but now friends are looked upon with suspicion. Fear and paranoia are high as the police hunt for her killer. Thank you to NetGalley, Random House UK, Transworld Publishers and the author for the chance to review.

A small town where nothing happens. A shocking murder. A multitude of red herrings. Lies, deceits and perversions, all to keep the reader entertained.

My first by this author and I was impressed. A steady, solid story, with lots going on and so many major characters that it took time for them all to find their place. A gripping story from the start, very captivating. I was aware of who the murderer was very early on, as I’m sure other readers will be, so no great surprise, but even so, cleverly done and an exciting read.

Multiple characters, multiple POV, you need to concentrate with this one!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House.

I love small town crime - the shock that it could happen here, the varied cast of characters, the inevitable exposure of dark secrets - and Shari Lapena certainly delivers all of that in What Have You Done?
Diana Brewer is a popular high school student with a bright future ahead of her, and it's a shock when she is found dead - murdered - in a local farmer's field.
The suspects pile up fast. Is it the boyfriend, who's been a little more possessive than Diana liked? The teacher she accused of inappropriate behaviour? Or the creep who was harassing her at work? Her friends are determined to find out, but for other residents, there are more important questions, like what do you do if someone you love has been accused of something terrible?
An excellent mystery with lots of twists that will keep you guessing until the end.

Fairhil is a small town in Vermont where there’s not a lot going on. Until the body of popular student Diana Brewer is found in a field and not in the best of circumstances. Suspicion quickly falls on her serious boyfriend, then others throughout the town. After all, who would want to hurt a teenager who wanted to leave Fairhill for veterinary school? Everyone wants and needs answers as to who is responsible, but let’s just say there’s a fair bit of gossip and separating fact from fiction before the killer is unleashed. Once you begin, you’ll find it difficult to put this one down.

Shari is one of the top authors around and this book just ends up confirming this as a fact. What Have You Done? Is a first class book, with superb tension and plot devices. Shari is at the top of her game.

I've loved all previous books I've read by Lapena before. I hoped this would be the same. But sadly, while I did enjoy this, I didn't love it.
I found the writing was a little disjointed. I spent a lot of the book almost trying fit things. Not in a normal mystery way.
Then the reveal just didn't work for me. It felt very weak. While it does happen in real life. I think had it built a little differently it would have worked better.

Unfortunately this was a DNF. It just wasn't interesting enough for me and in my opinion it doesn't fit in the thriller genre at all.

Wow Shari Lapena has done it again with her latest book What have you done? A multi view pointed thriller, set in the small town of Fairhill Vermont where nothing happens. The locals thinks it’s safe to leave their doors unlocked. But that all is set to change the next morning when popular girl Diana Brewer is found dead naked in a local farms field and left for the local birds to feast on her.
This is a fabulous edge of your seat thriller, told in several perspectives that will keep you guessing throughout who the killer is. There are lots of secrets revealed about Diana herself and the others that are framed for her murder. I couldn’t get enough of this book I virtually read it in one sitting. I am sure when this is released I t is going to be a hit. I highly recommend. 5 stars

Another fantastic read by Shari Lapena. Fast-paced, easy to read, with lots of twists to keep you interested. I enjoyed this as an avid reader and would happily recommend it to those I work with who are less confident in their reading as I believe it would encourage them by seeing progress with how quickly they are able to read it and how much they enjoy the story.

This was a fabulous multi perspective crime read set in a small town where a popular teenager has been found murdered. I loved all the different viewpoints on this regarding how the murder affected them and in some cases how it impacted on their relationships with other characters. There’s several obvious suspects with clear motive for murder but no one definitive suspect and although I did have my suspicions about the perpetrator it really could have been anyone as for a small town it’s hiding quite a few secrets. 9/10

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What Have You Done? - Shari Lapena

So many suspects, so many cul de sacs this story takes you - and leaves you second guessing till the very end!

I’m a big fan of Shari’s work - and this latest outing is up there with her greatest! Pacy, cold, calculated and with a little hint of the after life - this had it all.

Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC - here’s to the next one!

This is the first book I've read by Shari and it won't be my last. Who killed Diana? A clever story line evolves with plenty of red herrings and just when you think you're heading down the right path, you find it's a dead end! I read the book in a couple of days, just needed to get to the end, negotiate all the twists along the way. But the final twist - just didn't see that one coming! Well done. Good summer fiction.

Wow! There's a reason Sharing Lapena is my auto buy author. Loved the book and was completely engrossed from page 1.

The book has multiple characters and perspectives. It made me want to find out what happened and guess the killer. You also feel for the lead character and her family with some good sub plots.

The book is packed with red herrings and suspicious characters. Every time you guess one, there's another equally suspicious character. Brilliantly written thriller!

Thank you Random House UK, Transworld Publishers and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

When a teenage girl's corpse is found dead in a field, the ligature marks around her neck clearly indicate that she has been murdered. The crime sends shock waves reverberating through the small community.

But things like that don't happen in Fairhill, Vermont where few people lock their front doors. And who would want to kill a girl as popular and well liked as Diana Brewer?

As her friends Riley and Evan look on in disbelief, unexpected secrets begin to image from the heart of their town, not least about Diana herself.

What I love about most of Shari Lapena's books especially the more recent ones, is that you can trust begin reading and know that she will deliver and a clever and entertaining story. in this instance I did actually guess who might have done it, but not why. And you are never quite sure, because she does such an excellent job of strewing red herrings along your way...

I usually enjoy Shari Lapena’s work and I did enjoy this, just maybe not as much as her others. There were a lot of characters to keep track of. The opening chapter however was perfection and I’ll look forward to her next book, she’s one of my auto-buy authors.

Thank you Netgalley, Random House and Shari Lapena for this ARC.

Thank you very much NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange of my honest opinion.

I think I have read every book by Shari Lapena and they have all blown my mind at some point or other.

As soon as I started reading What Have You Done, I could NOT stop thinking about the book and the plot. Keep reading it was all I wanted to do and so I read it in just a couple of days.

I loved everything. The pace, the characters, the plot, the twists, the length of the chapters... everything was perfect.

I did not see the ending coming, I didn't suspect him at all, so that was surprising and every thriller reader wants to be surprised!

A very good book!!

Shari Lapena’s books are always so addictive and What Have You Done? Is no different. I made the mistake of starting this late one night and really did not want to stop reading. I devoured it in under 24 hours, just so so clever.

Fairhill, Vermont is a small community, where everyone knows everyone and feels safe. That is until teenager Diana Brewer is found dead in a farmers field one morning. She was a popular girl, never in trouble, so who would want her dead?

We learn about the various people in Diana’s life, from her best friends, her boyfriend, her parents and her teachers. They all seem to be hiding something, things that could be motives for murder.

A very smart and thought provoking murder mystery from a must read author for me.

A massive thanks to Random House UK, Transworld Publishers, Bantam and NetGalley for the very early copy of this book to read. An absolute pleasure to read.
