Unfortunately, this book was nothing like I expected. Most of all, it wasn't uplifting, it just kept getting worse as the story progressed.
There was an incredible power imbalance between Tilda and Milo, where she held all the power in what starts with a friendship and ends (in the last 10% of the book) in a romance.
I was expecting, as said in the title, a single act of kindness, with Tilda "showing the way" to Milo so that he could take charge of his life.
Instead, he ends up looking like a freeloader, using her for housing, food, and work. He never gets out on his own two feet, always dependant on her.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
