I really enjoyed the premise and the world building of this book. I found the writing to be a bit clunky but I cannot wait to see what happens in book 2!

The Other Side of the Mirror by Dana Evyn is a captivating fantasy that blends magic, mystery, and romance. Eva, still haunted by the brutal murder of her family, is thrust into the faerie realm where a handsome fae named Bash insists she must meet her soulmate to prevent a world-ending curse. As Eva’s own hidden magic emerges, her bond with Bash deepens, but nothing is as it seems. When she finally meets her supposed soulmate, the layers of deception unravel, revealing a shocking truth. With intrigue, twists, and a strong-willed protagonist, this book will keep readers on the edge of their seats, eager for the next revelation.

“The Other Side of the Mirror” is the perfect blend of fantasy and romance to dive into if you’re craving fae, fated mates, dark mystery, found family, and just the right amount of steam! This first book in the trilogy hooked me from the start, and I couldn’t put it down.
The story follows Eva, whose family was murdered seven years ago and who has been living far from her home since that time. Now, after living as a mortal for as long as she can remember, she finds herself kidnapped and pulled into the faerie realm. As she begins uncovering the truth about her past and her loved ones’ deaths, she’s thrust into a whirlwind journey to meet her mate and break a curse that could change everything. Along the way, she’s joined by Bash, who adds his own layers of charm and mystery to the story - and ironically, is the one tasked with bringing Eva to her betrothed. Eva leaves behind everything she’s ever known to piece together her identity and her place in this new world.
I absolutely loved the world-building (I mean, mirrors as portals!) But the characters were such a focal point of the story for me. I really liked Eva - despite having gone through this incredible loss of her family, she remains this strong, driven woman. And Bash - oh, how my heart flutters! Everything from the banter between Bash and Eva, to the slow-burn, forbidden romance that begins to develop between them, and all the tension in between - it was glorious to read. Add to that the fact that I really liked the secondary characters - Yael, Marin, Rivan, and even Tobias - and the element of a found family in Eva’s new reality.
I thought the book was such a fun ride! The pacing kept me engaged, and the romance added just enough spice to balance the darker elements of the story. The writing was solid and easy to sink into. Honestly, I didn’t want it to end.
If you’re into fantasy romance with fae, found family, plenty of twists, and a cliffhanger (!!), “The Other Side of the Mirror” is one to pick up. It’s a fantastic start to a trilogy, and I can’t wait to see where Eva’s story goes next!

❝Eyes up, stout hearts. Remember, the only way out us through.❞
The Other Side of the Mirror - Dana Evyn
★★★★☆
Thank you Netgalley and City Owl Press for the copy in exchange for an honest review!
The book is the beginning of The Mirror Trilogy that followed our main character Eva who was attacked by a magical creature then brought to another realm by a handsome fae named Bash. His mission was to retrieve and escort Eva to her fae soulmate the Crown Prince. As the journey went, she learned about magic hidden inside her and the actual reason all of these happened. It made her believe that not every fairy taleis telling the truth.
Although i had rough time adjusting myself to the pacing and the not-so-smooth transition between scenes, i enjoyed the overall experience. The fact that the plot is revolving around some mysteries surrounding Eva and her origins is so much fun to follow. The magic system and the world building are not the most complex and they added better experience to me since we can focus on the main goal of the story better. Also the romance was okay, we gor some slowburn and its not very spicy. I totally recommend this book if you love:
- Action-packed story
- Found family
- Soulmates
- Celestial magic
Just heard the next installment is going to be released in December, so excited for it!

Wonderful debut! Perfect for romantasy lovers, it has the tried and tested formula. There's the essential Fs: fae and found family. Bash was so so sweet.
Thank you to City Owl Press and NetGalley for the eARC.

This was my first read by Dana Evan and it didn't disappoint!
In this book, (and probably real life) mirrors are gateways to alternate realities. Right away, I felt pulled in by the vivid characters, their banter, and immersive story line. As a lover of speculative fiction, The Other Side of the Mirror will stay with me for a while.

the Other Side of the Mirror has a fantastic spin on mortals in a fae realm and I was utterly gripped throughout. I absolutely adore this book, the characters, the flow, the world-building. This series is going on the list! I cannot wait to see how the next book goes and cannot wait to visit this world again!

The world might be getting a little burnt out on fae fantasy, but I'm not quite there yet. The Other Side of the Mirror by Dana Evyn was a solid addition to the genre. The book includes great characters, wonderful world-building, and a lot of really beautiful prose.

The Other Side of the Mirror by Dana Evyn is a thrilling fantasy that grips readers from the first page. Seven years after the murder of her family, Eva is thrust into the faerie realm by a magical creature and saved by the enigmatic fae, Bash. He reveals that they must find her faerie soulmate to prevent a world-ending Curse. As Eva reluctantly agrees, she seizes the chance to uncover the truth behind her parents' deaths.
The novel excels with its engaging dual POV, a strong female protagonist, and a host of compelling elements, including fated mates, intense chemistry, and forced proximity. With its captivating characters and dynamic plot, this is a must-read that I will enthusiastically recommend to others.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy!
Let me start with the disclaimer that I absolutely loved this book and truly cared about the characters but…
How dare you get me invested and then leave me hanging like this?? Without even a date for book two to comfort me??
This was great. Eva was a fantastic character. Can’t wait to see what this author has in store!

Thank you to NetGalley, Owl City Press, and Dana Evyn for this ARC! There were a lot of things I really loved about this book. For starters, the writing is really lovely. I think that there is a lot of beautiful descriptions without being too flowery. I really liked the characters and the found family aspect that I absolutely adore in a fantasy book. The mirror being a portal to travel through is very interesting and it’s my first time reading a book that incorporates mirrors as a part of the magic system. Also, I loved Bash! He was such a sweetheart. I think he was truly very charming and I would love to see what his character does next. Eva was very a very strong and resilient character as well.
There were a few things that I wish were different as far as the story. I really hope that Eva’s friend becomes a more important part of the story because it seems like we just forgot her. I also am the kind of girl that really needs a slow burn! This book really felt like insta-love and in a fantasy, I don’t think you need that. You should be able to have some development in that regard. I feel like there could have been a little bit more tension. I hoped that the conflict in there relationship would be because of outside factors mostly instead of them denying their feelings.
All in all, I really loved Dana Evyn’s writing and I am excited to see what she does with this trilogy.

I loved this, I loved this, I loved this!
Did I mention that I loved this? Because I sure as heck did! Eva was SUCH a good main character and I rooted for her throughout the entirerity of the story. I loved the fairytale elements, and of course the setting was absolutely perfect.

This might be my first solid five stars this year. And also my first time reviewing an arc!! I’m so so thankful to get to be one of the first to actually review this book!
This book was everything and more. It had me intrigued from the very start. Eva’s character was so perfectly written and I adored her so much.
It’s been a while since I was fully sucked into finishing a book, I literally started this yesterday and finished today.
The plot was amazing and also perfectly written and I just have zero words to express how much I adored it all.
I cant wait for when this book officially drops so everyone can see how good it is because omg I feel like I can’t move on.
10/10 you all need to add this to your tbr

If you enjoyed ACOTAR, Throne of Glass, These Hollow Vows, and What Lies Beyond The Veil, you need to read this book.
It was exactly the Fae fantasy with fated mates that I wanted it to be - good fun, an interesting villain, a bit of spice and found family.
Is it the most groundbreaking book out there? No. But that's not a bad thing at all as you know what you're getting and it's still different enough to keep you entertained.
I couldn't put it down and the end has left me shook and gagging for the next book in the series. I've got so many questions that I need answers to so I will be running out to get the rest of the series as it becomes available.

I got this as an ACR through NetGalley.
Faeries, mystery, romance. This hit all of the right spots for me. I absolutely loved these characters and their development.
Bash is one of my favorite MMCs in a while! I can’t wait for book two!
