Thank you NetGalley and City Owl Press for allowing me to receive an ARC and experience this story before it releases on April 9th, 2024. I was captivated by the character art and needed to know the story behind it immediately!! This is a standard romantasy full of love, found family, tragedy, and twists to keep you turning the page. Although it included tropes that I usually gravitate towards, it was full of predictability. However, I fell in love with the side characters and am aching to know more of their story! This trilogy has a lot of potential and I will definitely be seeking out the next book. If you enjoy fae, magic, traveling between worlds, evil villains, and fated mates with a little spice, this is definitely up your alley!! 3.5 stars!!!

The other side of the mirror is yet another run of the mill fae romance. It has a bit of everything that you might expect, a bit of mystery, a bit of spice, a bit of betrayal and of course found family.

Unfortunately I found this book to be exceptionally predictable, the insta love in the first few chapters had me rolling my eyes, of course this strange connection is a mate bond (even though you are supposedly bound to another). The person you think you are bound to looks like the man you see in your dreams murdering your family?! Shock horror it is the man who murdered your family....

It's not completely terrible but it feels almost like a trope tick box exercise but they forgot to include any sort of intrigue or mystery.

DNF. The cover is beautiful, and the premise is promising, but the first few pages displayed a half-baked writing style and overused tropes that I struggled not to cringe at. There were constant reminders of her "dead family", and the situations had a lot of telling and explaining rather than showing. I like that the main characters are older, but I wish the writing and situations could feel like it. I also wish the MC developed before the introduction of Bash, because we get another snarky, eye-rolling heroine dropping a soliloquy on this man's freckles right after she almost died. Okay.

Will update if I can get through it and I can give it another shot.

Omg yes yes yes! I love this book so much I didn’t want to put it down. Each chapter just made me want to keep reading. Definitely a 5 star read! It had amazing strong MFC and MMC, the spicy was spicing 🌶️, slow burn, romantic, action, and a wonderful plot!

You need to add this to your TBR!

I think Dana Evyn has a strong grasp on what readers want, but perhaps not what they need. By that I mean, it felt at times as though the book was missing the inbetween chapters, the chapters that bolster and frame the action. Relationships (romance and frienships) felt slightly rushed due to the lack of those chapters. That said, I think she does well blending the modern human world setting into the fantastical (or vice versa). This will appeal to readers in an ACOTAR hangover, but I think it could have stood more strongly on its own if the plot/universe/characters were more fully fleshed out.

The Other Side of the Mirror - The Mirrored Trilogy, Book 1 by Dana Evyn is a gorgeous read. With fae-ntasy being a highly competitive genre right now, the Other Side of the Mirror has a fantastic spin on mortals in a fae realm and I was utterly gripped throughout

Eva's family are murdered and seven years later, she gets kidnapped and finds herself in a faerie realm. As if things were not discombobulated enough, a fae called Bash (awesome name btw) comes along and lets her know her fate is to meet her fae soulmate and stop a world ending curse ( I imagine that beats online dating but I digress) Eva accepts in exchange for the truth about what happened to her family

However, as if being yeeted into a faerie realm and leaving behind everything you know is not enough, things start to change between Eva and her saviour and even more so when she meets her intended. Life could not get any more complicated? Surely?

I absolutely adore this book, the characters, the flow, the world-building. This series is going on the list!

Thank you to Netgalley, City Owl Press and the very talented Dana Evyn for this stunning ARC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

I really enjoyed this book. The world building was very well done. The spice was a little bit too much for my taste personally. But I think that a lot of people would not mind it.

This is going to be a hit. This was absolutely AMAZING! From the swoon worthy MMC to the fated mates aspect. It was absolutely perfect! I love how the human world and fae world are mixing. Bash may be my new book boyfriend because he is EVERYTHING! I love that finally we get a FMC that’s over 20! The spice was amazing, everything was amazing and I want more!

This was such a good book! I loved that the FMC was fearless and smart. Although she doesn’t know everything about her past and the realm she finds herself in, she is quick to pick up on things and trust her instincts. I also loved the tension and relationship development with the MMC, although at times I wanted to yell at him to trust his instincts, too! But once they’re together? Their relationship is dreamy, and the spice is spicing 🌶️🌶️🌶️

All of the reveals in the last few chapters kept me on the edge of my seat and I am looking forward to the next installment of the series. That cliffhanger hurt! I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Thank you so much to Dana Evyn, City Owl Press, and Victory Editing for providing this ARC book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. 💖

This is a hard book for me to rate, so I’m going to try to be as fair as possible.

The writing was outstanding. The story and characters were incredible and well developed. I enjoyed that there was an older MC compared to more recent books of similar genre. The action, the cliffhanger, all of it works.

My hangup really is the spice. I hate it, but I know a ton of people love it. It’s not a trigger or anything, for me it’s just lazy or there for shock. It doesn’t add anything. However I know I cannot take stars away for that, because this appeals to a huge population of the intended audience I suppose. I just wish there was some type of hint as to how much I’d be getting. A little is fine, but I want plot, characters, action.

Either way I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment as the cliffhanger was amazing. I’ll just skim (which I freekin hate doing) through the sexy parts.

YES YES YES . When this book blows up , I cannot wait to say that I was one of the first people who read this book . The book is everything I expect a romantasy to be. Amazing FMC. And the cocky and hot MMC. THE FATED SOULMATES THING IS DONE IN SUCH A UNIQUE WAY AND THE SPICE IS LITERALLY BURNING 🥵 The villain is also so hateable . This book was such a thrilling read and Dana Evyn please make the next 2 books as good as this . The cliffhanger you have left me on is unbearable. . I am officially in love with your writing

I could NOT put this down, so so pleasantly surprised! I finished it in almost one sitting.

The FMC Eva is awesome, and I really appreciated that she was a little bit older than the typical romantasy FMC. and don't even get me started on how swoon worthy the MMC is!!! The spice is spicing. Yes, they are fated mates, but it is done in a unique way.

I also fell in love with a lot of the side characters and I hope to learn more about them. The author also does a really great job mixing the modern "human" elements with the fae world.

On the edge of my seat until book 2 comes out! Thank you to the author, and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
