A thoroughly enjoyable tale of a single Mum who, because of the disgraceful behaviour of her former partner, relocates to Alaska hoping to rid herself of all acquaintances only to find a childhood friend is now her employer
. I really enjoyed this tale. Beautifully written the characters and their backgrounds are woven cleverly into the story.

This was a smashing romance - well written with plenty of warmth, and I loved the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
A heartwarming reunion romance. The background story for Charlie and Eli was an unusual set up but worked really well and felt natural. I liked the depiction of the small town and the people who lived there and could picture how the character’s lives would play out after the book had ended,
Charlie is running away from her past. Living her life as locum doctor going anywhere she is needed.
Teaching her young daughter that you can only rely on yourself. When Charlie arrives at her latest post in Alaska she is stunned to learn the man she has been talking is a blast from her past.
Eli and Charlie grew up in a childrens home. While Eli was lucky enough to be adopted out Charlie wasnt. The past has definately left some scars on our heroine. The chemistry between our hero and heroine is strong. Both have some past issues standing in their way to true love. Can they let down their guard and let each other into their hearts ? Pick up a copy and find out. Louisa Heaton writes a heartwarming story showing its never to late to find your happiness. Recommended for fans of contemporary romance.
Charlie and Eli grew up in foster care together but were split up when Eli got adopted, his parting gift to Charlie a frog in her bed! Now adults Charlie is running away to Alaska for a brand new start and is shocked when she finds out her brand new boss is Eli. Charlie is working to try to protect her daughter and her heart but is slowly warming to this new adventure with Eli in Alaska.
As always, an enjoyable read from LH. I liked the Alaska setting but I must admit (and this is simply a matter of personal taste), I am not keen on stories where the back story angst comes from a childhood in foster care or a children’s home. I found Charlie rather unlikeable to start with and LH’s skill is how she made me like her by the end. She and Eli were an interesting couple brought together and yet separated by the same experiences.
A romance set in Alaska is just the ticket for an afternoon on the sofa with a good book. The backdrop of Alaska and the community life that the people all led was excellent. The day to day accidents, stories and lives were beautifully described and made Eli and Charlie’s romance all the sweeter. The backdrop of children in care was well told and a lovely ending for all.
