This is utterly hilarious, I was laughing out loud at points, and I literally couldn't be parted from this book while I was reading it.
When Gigi gets to Hawaii for her sisters wedding, which also features her ex as the best man, and his new "celeb" girlfriend, she is expecting to check into her cheap and cheerful room in the incredibly luxurious hotel, only to be given an upgrade.
Not only an upgrade to a fabulous suite, but it soon becomes apparent that everyone in the hotel is trying to please her, or is seemingly interested in her.
Which sort of helps on her quest to get an impressive date to one up Nathan her ex, after a few attempts back in London failed both miserably but in funny ways.
She soon manages to pick up a wing man in her quest, Donnie, and there are all sorts of utterly memorable moments in what is a brilliant week in paradise.
This is Portia MacIntosh at her absolute best, I loved every single second of this, and didn't want the book to end.
A totally perfect poolside read (or beach, or well anywhere), perfect to escape into for an enjoyable afternoon.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I'll admit I wanted to give up on this one early in the book - I wanted to see the actual suite life happen, and it doesn't until well into the book. But I'm so glad I stuck it through. This was a fun read, light & fluffy and exactly what a good chick-lit book should be about. It's frothy and fun, and yes requires suspension of disbelief, but I'm not reading chick lit to keep abreast of world affairs, so this was the perfect escape.
It was a ride filled with surprise and horror as Gigi goes on her 'dates' to find Mr-Take-To-The-Wedding. I did laugh a lot throughout this. Then there was the surrounding plot around her asshat ex, his perfect new gf, and the cute bloke at the hotel. I didn't want to stop reading, and it kept me riveted. The ending and 'explanation' regarding the suite life was also cute and not far-fetched at all (considering all the dates!)
This is the perfect beach read or cozy afternoon to snuggle down book. Light & frothy & cute, all the way through.
One of my favourite authors again transporting me off with her writing. Loved living through Gigi’s life - how fun she is! Lovely summer read. Easy to read.
This book was an unexpected but engaging read that drew me in and held me throughout. I liked the concept of this story, but there was something to this book that goes beyond the rom com I had expected and left me thinking more in the way a Women's Fiction leaves me. However, there was such a great sense on romance here that I think leaves people leaning in one direction or the other because of the romance. But I argue, why does this have to be an either or? This book had some of the strongest calls for women to claim the place they deserve in their own self and revel in that discovery.
I was looking for a light read between two heavy books and landed on this one. The timing was propitious. Go in expecting a fun time and have fun. There is not much of a story for too much scrutiny, and, as a breezy romcom, it should not.
4 stars and a promise to read more Portia MacIntosh books.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
I have had mixed reactions to the author's work, but this time, it was better than I expected.
Our leading lady is a hairdresser who is placed in the uniquely uncomfortable position of having to go to Hawaii as part of a wedding party that also includes her ex and the ex's new partner. This sends her spiralling to find a date for the wedding.
From that point, the story does not necessarily follow the traditional route but ends with the expected ending.
Given the number of things that happen in the short time window, the book seemed a tad rushed. As I was reading about one incident, it felt like the next had already been queued up. I usually do not have a problem with that, but somehow I wanted this to be a little slower.
The supporting cast of family and friends does not make as much of an appearance as expected, but what little we see of them is entertaining to read about.
This is not a book with serious reflections about things. The characters have some introspective moments, but on the whole, it is a lighter book with mistaken identities thrown into the mix.
I would recommend it to fans of the genre, and I would probably try more books by the author if I get the chance.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

With its blend of romance, humor, and heart, this book is a delightful treat for anyone seeking an uplifting and enjoyable read that leaves a lasting smile.
A fun romantic comedy which had me laughing out loud. Gigi is bridesmaid to her sister at her wedding in Hawai. It should be a lovely time however her ex is bestman and she has told everyone that she has a plus one !
Great characters, interesting storyline which kept the reader engaged. A perfect holiday read !
First of all thank you for approving my request!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The authors writing style had me hooked throughout this book.
I didn't want it to end, a book I really couldn't put down.
This was another fun read from MacIntosh and I was immediately drawn into the narrative. It didn’t take me long to absorb this light-hearted story and it entertained me throughout.
When Gigi heads to Hawaii for her Chief Bridesmaid duties, you would think she would relish the opportunity for an amazing holiday. Wrong. With the Best Man being her ex-boyfriend, and his new girlfriend also in tow, Gigi is reminded of her singleton status. Especially as everyone in the wedding party has their plus one. Before she sets off, Gigi attempts to find a partner for the wedding, with expected disastrous results. However, the story doesn’t really take off until we land in Hawaii.
I loved this part of the plot as Gigi finds herself upgraded to the best suite in the hotel and is suddenly lavished with lots of luxuries freebies from the hotel. She cannot explain it and her family are asking questions. Flustered, Gigi puts it down to her new (nonexistent) boyfriend. And then the pressure is on to make him materialise.
The unexplained perks from the hotel and Gigi’s dating disasters were the key part to the novel. I actually forgot why she was in Hawaii, as her sister and the rest of the wedding party barely make an appearance for most of the novel. This didn’t bother me as I loved waiting to see what would happen to Gigi next – more so following her room upgrade than the romance side.
Yet, the romantic plot was still fun and I enjoyed Gigi interacting with a range of potential candidates. The mysterious character added a further depth to the story and I wondered whether they would ever be revealed. I think the only thing I didn’t quite get was the stolen phone incident and would have preferred something else to have happened on the yacht.
Macintosh successfully transports readers to Hawaii and I felt like I was living the life of luxury with Gigi. An easy read, this is great for the holidays and I loved how fun the story became.
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Okay this book was so incredibly delightful, who wouldn't love a case of mistaken identity getting you massively upgraded at the resort on a wedding weekend where your ex boyfriend is there with his new, beautiful flame? Throw in a hot new man and you have a story for the ages.
Another lighthearted fun book by this author Gigi is a lovely likeable character and you know you are going to have loads of humerous situations to brighten your day. Perfect beach read
I always pick up Portia Macintosh’s books as I know I will love them.
Loved the characters and plot. A brilliant romantic comedy to pick up.
Portia Macintosh is an author who is an automatic read for me. I know I'll laugh, I know I'll love her books. The Suite Life had an amazing location, a well written cast of side characters, everything I was looking for in a fun rom-com.
Gigi is on vacation in Hawaii for her sister's wedding.
She gets upgraded to a fancy suite and starts getting celebrity like status and goodies
Honestly everything wrapped up really quickly and it was a lot of fancy stuff that added up to a bunch of nothing
A light read. The background and setting of this book was perfect. Some character and arc flaws, but overall was a nice, quick and easy read
A really great summer romantic comedy. Perfect for any summer vacation or just reading at home. Spicy and delightfully written.
The perfect light, Summer beach read! Gigi's sister is getting married. Awesome! but wait, the best man is her ex. Oh no! Now Gigi has to rush to find a date to prove to her family, and yes, of course her ex, that Gigi is A-okay! She's fine. She's moving on. She's not depressed, mad or sad at all. Right?
My thought:
I really enjoyed this light, cute Summertime read! Fans of Lucy Score and Meghan Quinn will like this too!
what a fun read! perfect for a summer holiday.
get lost in the escapades of GiGi and her quest to find the perfect plus one with some twists on the way
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for The Suite Life by Portia MacIntosh. I always enjoy her books because they are fun, lighthearted romcoms. This one fit that pattern!
Gigi’s sister is getting married, and she is a bridesmaid. But her ex is the best man… so she needs a wedding date fast to convince her family and friends that she is OK. The problem is, though, that she isn’t dating anyone and hasn’t found a date even by the time she arrives to the destination wedding…
This story sucked me in and was just what I needed.
Thank you to the author, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.
