Portia Macintosh has written a lot of books , and while all the ones that I have read are about similar subjects , they manage to remain a light entertaining read. This one is about Gigi, who travels to Hawaii for her sister Lucy’s wedding. Her ex-boyfriend is also there as he is Lucy’s fiancé’s best friend. Gigi’s ex is now seeing a well known influencer, so Gigi feels she has to bring someone amazing to the wedding. So she stars looking. This book is light and cheerful and a very quick read. Thanks to Boldwood books and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel

I had high hopes for this book because the premise was interesting and so was the first 50% of the book, but when she reaches the wedding it kind of bored me. It made no sense why she had this dude pretend to be her wingman rather than her date. Like I wish it had been them faking being a couple than her continue the search when she came to the wedding. I wasn't a big fan of the ending but I wont say why otherwise that would be spoilers but it was disappointing how the big drama happened and how quickly it was resolved. It felt like the meet cute but this time what if they didn't pretend to be a couple you know.

I love a good romcom with a travel element, so it's easy to understand why I couldn't resist The Suite Life with its Hawaii setting and the surprise hotel upgrade angle. It sounded like the perfect fun summer romance, and I've been looking forward to join Gigi on her journey. And I have to say that I had a great time reading it! Fast-paced, entertaining and a closed-door/slowburn romance; The Suite Life ended up delivering an enjoyable romcom cocktail despite some minor niggles.

The story starts out in London, where we follow Gigi as she tries to find a date for her sister's wedding. It has to be someone impressive, because her ex Nathan is the best man at the wedding and he dumped her for a famous influencer... Which leads to some hilariously bad dates and situations along the way. It's true that these dates are definitely over the top and almost cringeworthy, but I guess they do work on an entertainment level.

Things improve drastically when Gigi arrives at the Hawaiian hotel. Hawaii makes for such a great destination wedding setting, and the descriptions of the hotel made for an excellent backdrop for this story. The whole hotel upgrade angle is probably my favorite part of the plot, as it leads to so many hilarious situations. The mystery around why Gigi was granted the upgrade adds a little intrigue to the plot, which helped keeping things interesting along the way. I do have to say that I saw the big 'twist' and real identity of a certain character coming from a mile away, which was a shame.

As for the characters... Gigi was fun to be around mostly, although I wish she would stand up for herself more (especially with Nathan and his new girlfriend). Nathan almost seemed like a caricature villain with his despicable behavior, and Sunshine wasn't much better to be honest. I can't believe Gigi's family let them treat Gigi in the way they do... I loved Donnie though, and it's a shame the slowburn was a bit too slow in the end. I could have dealt with that if it hadn't been for the love triangle popping up, which definitely put a damper on things especially considering the connection between the first two characters was SO obvious. I could have done without the cheating element as well, which only made me hate a certain character even more... Even though everything works out in the end.

Like I said before, there were some minor niggles, but as a whole The Suite Life turned out to be a quick and entertaining romance read with a lot of bad dates and a great Hawaiian setting. It would work perfect for a beach or vacation read!

What a fun book! The Suite Life, by Portia MacIntosh, did not disappoint. The story was fun, and the characters were loveable/hateable. A bit of mystery kept things interesting and page-turning. The novel was a quick read and will be a great addition to your beach bag! Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

I really love Portia Books and this one felt like we were really getting back to the Portia I absolutely love.

The Suite Life was such a delight. The storyline was fun and punchy. There was a little bit of mystery which kept you guessing, in a way which wasn't too daunting or over the top, and I really loved the chemistry between Gigi and Donnie. It felt like a warm hug and I adored the pages with these two characters present.

I even loved the disastrous dates Gigi went on, albeit a tiny bit predictable, it didn't take anything away from the story.

I just wish it was a little bit longer!

Thank you Netgalley

3.5🌟 - a gentle, sweet romance with good moments of laughter. Relatable main character who ventures on a serious of disastrous dates to find a partner for her sister’s wedding in Hawaii. A lovely ending, closed door romance.

Gigi must find a man to accompany her to her sister's wedding. But not just any man: he must be impressive, or rich, ideally both to show off to her family and her ex (best friend and best man to the groom, who left her for an Internet starlet ).

The beginning of the story takes place in London in the days before her departure for Hawaii where the wedding is to be held, and Gigi goes on one lame date after another. I thought I would stop there because they made me so uncomfortable.

Once in Hawaii, things go much better thanks to an imbroglio which allows Gigi to enjoy a magnificent suite and to the meeting with Donnie, a single guitarist who will become her partner in crime, still in her quest for the man perfect to accompany her to the wedding.

Gigi and Donnie are so cute together. I was a little sorry that Gigi took so long to choose Donnie and that she continued to go on dates with questionable men (although relatively speaking, the stay in Hawaii only lasted a week).

The moral in my opinion is that money and fame do not bring happiness, and that if we are lucky enough to have them, we must share them with the people who are dear to us.

Gigi's family is well established and could have been used more intelligently (I find it a little hard to believe that Gigi could not have spent some time alone with her parents... there are a few failures in my opinion at this level: yes, she didn't want Nathan and Sunshine to know about the suite but she could have confided in her parents rather than isolating herself with Donnie who is a complete stranger. Given that we are in the context of a wedding, it seems incredible to me that she can spend several days without seeing anyone from her group)

Wow! Absolutely fell in love with this book! The dialogues and narrative is witty and fun and made me both smile and laugh out loud. Gigi while living a mistaken suite life is also very relatable. The friends to lovers trope and search for a fake date is fun.

The book has several laugh out moments as the search for the wedding date progresses. The meet-up with the ex, his girlfriend and managing the social group is all relatable and yet fun and hilarious. I recommend this one for sure! A perfect vacation read!

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

This was so silly and fun.

It was a light-hearted and comedic romance with a tiny bit of mistaken identity to enhance the humor. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun closed-door romantic beach read.

Gigi is standing up for her sister at a destination wedding in Hawaii. Unfortunately, her ex is also standing up and he is happily coupled up again. When she gets to Hawaii, she is mistaken for an heiress and gets treated like it, much to everyone's surprise. This is the story of her unexpected week of riches, along with trying to find a +1 for her sister's wedding. I liked it! I was a little weirded out by her potential dates and how little she knew about them. Even Donnie - he was a friendly guy, but she doesn't know anything about him! But the ending was satisfying and there was a twist I didn't guess that puts the pieces together!

Such a fun, light hearted, cozy and summer-y book!

This book is a fast-paced romantic comedy story set in Hawaii. The main character, GiGi, attends her sister's wedding and unexpectedly gets upgraded to a luxurious suite at a fancy resort. However, things get complicated when she realizes that her ex-boyfriend, who is also the best man, is attending the wedding with his celebrity girlfriend. In order to avoid looking hung up on her ex, GiGi uses her suite status to search for an impressive date. She befriends another single man named Donnie, our mmc, who helps her as her wingman, while they both enjoy the perks of her suite.

The story is filled with humorous dating disasters and entertaining shenanigans between GiGi and Donnie. The suspense of why GiGi received the suite and special attention adds to the enjoyment of the story. Overall, it is a funny and enjoyable summer read, perfect for those looking for a light-hearted beach wedding story.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

I like the pun of the Suite Life and how it's a sweet life, as well as the friends to lovers trope. I felt quite invested in her journey to find a date and also the fact that the multiple dates she went on with different guys really did represent what it can be like in reality. Her relationship with Donnie is sweet, thought it always felt like something was hidden so I guess that didn't come as much of a surprise. However, I was pleasantly surprised about what the surprise was! An easy, sweet read that whisks you away to her suite in Hawaii with her.

What a suite five-star read. I simply love this author, they bring a fresh lightness to the story, you are kept guessing all the way through, and just hooked as there are some real clangers, and some moments that I would have walked away from family or no family many times but Gigi just smiles and keeps going, I am sure that amazing suite certainly does help, having that to retreat to would certainly help, and having Donnie as a wing man certainly would be super. There are challenging moments in this one, but overall its just great and a story and author you won’t want to miss.

In this story Gigi Marsden is the star of the show and rightfully so. In this rom-com we follow Gigi along in her adventure on finding a date to her sisters destination wedding in Hawaii. Upon her arrival to Hawaii there is a mix up and Gigi ends up having a luxurious holiday. Gigi wants to prove to her family and ex boyfriend, Nathan that she is over him so she sets out to find a plus one. In the end Gigi gets her happy ending, just not the way she was expecting it.

I really enjoyed this book and devoured it in two days. The Suite Life is an easy to read rom-com with a lot of humorous part that will have you laughing out loud. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last. I enjoyed her writing style and how easy it was to read.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

After reading this, I find myself wondering why I haven’t read anything by Portia MacIntosh before now. Her writing styler was fantastic and I really enjoyed the rom-com vibe of the book. I really enjoyed the supporting characters in this story. They were written really well and had a lot of depth. The banter in the story was fantastic and really made this book for me. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

A special thank you to Portia MacIntosh, Boldwood Books, and Netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The author Portia MacIntosh is quickly becoming one of my favourites. Every time I pick up one of her new released I know that I am in for a treat. Her writing style and humour just really appeals to me and her rom-com type style really ticks all those boxes that I am looking for in a good book.

In this book we join Gigi Marsden, who is getting ready to travel to Hawaii for her sister's destination wedding. Unfortunately for her, her ex boyfriend Nathan is the best man and his plus one, is his new squeeze Sunshine who happens to be famous from appearing is some reality TV show and would appear to be perfect. Dreading travelling to the wedding alone and being around them both, Gigi and her colleagues at the hairdressers where she works try to get her fixed up with some famous celebrities. After various dating disasters Gigi heads off for the island alone and ends up having loads of adventures and meeting some interesting new people along the way. On arrival Gigi gets mistaken for a celebrity and is upgraded to a full suite and given the full VIP treatment during her stay.

I really enjoyed this book. I was rooting for Gigi, she seems to be so lovely and is understandably totally dreading the wedding. The characters are really well written and likeable and is the family dynamic, especially Gigi's Dad, he is really fun and comes out with some funny and awful joke and one lines, which did make me laugh out loud in place.. I wouldn't have minded being in Hawaii with this lot.

This is a really fun and easy to read summer romance.

In The Suite Life, we meet Gigi, a girl who is going to be Maid of Honor for her Sister’s Wedding in Hawaii. The problem? Her ex is the best man, and he is bringing his new Girlfriend.

Gigi is desperate to find an amazing date to this wedding, and so all kinds of hijinks ensure.

When she gets to Hawaii, she is being treated like royalty, and she isn’t sure why. But she decides to just enjoy it, and makes a friend, Donnie, while looking for a good date to take to the wedding.

Gigi and Donnie are hilarious. I enjoyed their banter, and of course kept waiting for Gigi to realize what a good guy he was, lol.

Some of this book was pretty predictable, but that doesn’t take away from what a fun read this book is. It’s the perfect beach read, and I really enjoyed it.

This book had great characters and atmosphere. The supporting characters were fun and dynamic, with different enough personalities that they all stood apart from each other rather than blending into one. The descriptions of the different rooms and facilities of the hotel were a highlight, as well as the play by plays we got of decadent food and cocktails.

The first 30% or so of the book relies a lot on secondhand embarrassment, to the point that I had to put it down once or twice. I was worried that I wouldn’t like this read, but I actually ended up enjoying it a lot once Gigi actually gets to the hotel. The character growth was much more impressive than the last work I read by MacIntosh, and I liked Gigi and her love interest a lot as characters. If you’re looking for a funny, flirty romcom read, this book may be for you. Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC. This is my honest review.

3/5 All of the benefits and drawbacks of celebrity status, for just one week.

Unfortunately, there's nothing good I can say about this book.
I don't understand why the author decided that it would be interesting and captivating to have the FMC go on a million dates and describe them to us, every single one. She wasn't interesting, the MMC was so bland I could mistake him for a fish. Their chemistry was non-existent, the resolution at the end was sickeningly sweet and not realistic. And the plot twist (if we can call it that)? It was so boring and uninspired that I rolled my eyes the entire time.
