The Suite Life is the first book I've read by Portia MacIntosh. . It is a light hearted read while we follow Gigi on a journey of finding a date to her sisters wedding. Some of the disasters she encounters have you laughing out loud, while themix ups at the resort in Hawaii are amusing and make you want to be there with her.
Thank you net galley for an arc of The Suite Life by Portia Macintosh
What a fun read! Having read a couple of Portia MacIntosh's books before, I knew I was in for a good time with "The Suite Life." This entertaining and heartwarming rom-com revolves around a bridesmaid on the lookout for a plus one.
Gigi, a hairdresser, finds herself as her sister’s chief bridesmaid at a destination wedding in a Hawaiian resort, where her ex-boyfriend happens to be the best man. To add insult to injury, he arrives with his new celebrity girlfriend, which is obnoxious to her. Desperate to avoid the pitying glances from family and friends at the upcoming wedding, Gigi dives headfirst into the dating scene, hoping to find a suitable companion. However, her attempts often end in uproarious failure, with each date turning into a hilariously disastrous escapade.
Once at the resort, Gigi is surprised to be upgraded to the deluxe suite and treated like royalty. She doesn't know why, but she certainly makes the most of it. If anyone deserves it, it's her. What follows are lively shenanigans that will put a smile on your face. The Suite Life sure suits our heroine!
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Gigi is a likable and good-hearted character one can relate to. There are many laugh-out-loud lines and amusing banter, and I just loved the humor and the dad jokes. I particularly enjoyed reading about the bad dates, such as the scene with the Chef (I hate seafood as well!), and the rock show episode, to name a couple. I loved that she was easygoing, didn't hold a grudge, and was quick to forgive (maybe too quick??). However, I felt the author was too easy on the ex. I also loved the exotic setting and the descriptions of the resort and all it had to offer. Yacht? Count me in!
If I have an issue with the book, it's the overuse of the word "insist" throughout. As in her other books that I have read, the author tends to overuse this term, which was a bit irritating. I also didn't like that after finding out the reason for the upgrade, Gigi didn't come clean to the staff. It seemed like exploitation of benefits and showed bad judgment on her part. Those aside, I enjoyed the book immensely. I recommend the book to lovers of the genre and to anyone who enjoys some light romantic comedy with a happy ending. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

As her sister’s chief bridesmaid, Gigi has everything she needs to enjoy the beautiful destination wedding in Hawaii. That is…. Except a date. Forced to face her ex (the best man) and his new reality star girlfriend is bad enough, but her friends and family’s pitying looks are what topples her over the edge and desperate to find a plus one.
I enjoyed following Gigi’s adventures into the world of dating and her relatable yet hilarious awful dates. The quirky conversations in the hair salon where Gigi works were also a joy to read. She had such great chemistry with her co-workers and discussing the struggles of dating or as she put it “the next installment of the cringey saga” 😂😂
Once in Hawaii, Gigi gets upgrade to a suite and oooh man was I jealous! If anyone deserved the red carpet treatment though, it’s this girl for dealing with her obnoxious ex.
Filled with witty banter and laugh-out-loud hilarity, The Suite Life is a fun & quick read.

Thank you to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.
The Suite Life by Portia MacIntosh is a lighthearted and fast read, it would be a perfect book for a flight or sitting on the beach.
Gigi is Hawaii for her sister's wedding and has gotten an upgrade on her room to a suite (yay!); the downside of the whole situation is her ex, Nathan, is the best man and there with his new girlfriend. (boo!)
She needs to find a date so that her ex won't be more obnoxious than he already is and we get to go on Gigi's adventures with her as she finds her man, enjoys the sweet suite life and hope that Nathan gets his due.
I'm going to be looking for more books from this author because I really enjoyed it, laughed a lot, and the characters were fun.

I’ve rest almost everything Portia has written, and in general I’m a fan. The Suite Life was a fun light hearted easy read. I really liked Gigi, the main character, and enjoyed reading her journey - staying in a luxury hotel for her sisters wedding while accidentally receiving high level upgrades, while dealing with her obnoxious ex boyfriend and trying to find a suitable man to bring to her sisters wedding. I liked reading about all of Gigi’s disaster dates, and I never saw the plot twist coming in the end! Enjoyable reading perfect for by the pool.

A fun romp. Gigi Marsden finds herself upgraded to the deluxe suite and treatment at the Hawaiian resort she’s staying for her sister’s wedding. Also attending the wedding is her ex Nathan, best man and now with his new girlfriend, reality TV star and influencer Sunshine. Of course Gigi has lid and said she’s bringing a date because she’s sick of the pitying looks from everyone. Cue the hijinx.
I breezed through this book. The bad dates were fun and it made me fantasize how awesome it would be to get the gold service like Gigi. I must admit I guessed the wrong person, so I liked the fake out there (I’m trying to keep this spoiler free)
Sometimes Portia MacIntosh can be a bit of a miss when it comes to messy plot development (see: Life’s a Beach, Will They, Won’t They?, Single all the Way, for example) where they can go too over the top and too much telling, not showing. But this one was well paced and developed. I really liked Gigi and really liked the hero. However I do think she has a tendency for her heroines to overlook poor behaviour from people too much, and while I found Gigi’s forgiveness reasonable, I don’t get why Nathan got a happy ending when really he behaved deplorably and it was clear Sunshine was incompatible with him.
Overall this is another solid fun romp com that is perfect for holiday reading. Best read with a Mai Tai.
