Another enjoyable read by Portia Macintosh. She writes ChickLit really well and this was a fun, light hearted story, perfect for summer.
Gigi was likeable, relatable and fun and I enjoyed reading this story a lot.
Thank you for the chance to review.
Thank you for the gifted ARC! Loved the writing style, loved the story, perfect light summer read! I found that I couldn’t put it down and I looked forward to finishing it.
A fun rom com which will have you laughing out loud. Same with all of Portia's books. Gigi is going to be bridesmaid to her sister at her wedding in Hawai lovely right all those white sandy beaches. However you know there will be a fly in the ointment and that is her ex being the bestman and she has told everyone that she has a plus one when she doesn't! I'll let you imagine the rest.
This was hard for me to get through. In concept this book was promising but unfortunately I didn’t love the writing style. Would probably read another from this author but this one isn’t for me!
A fun romantic comedy which had me laughing out loud. Gigi is bridesmaid to her sister at her wedding in Hawai. It should be a lovely time however her ex is bestman and she has told everyone that she has a plus one !
Great characters, interesting storyline which kept the reader engaged. A perfect holiday read !
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Portia Macintosh for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
The Suite Life is a fun, romance, with family and humour. Gigi's sister is getting married in a destination wedding in Hawaii and Gigi is going to be her bridesmaid. It should be something she is looking forward to, but her ex-boyfriend, Nathan, is going to be the best man. Nathan dumped her for a gorgeous reality star/social influencer named Sunshine and she will be attending the wedding. Gigi wants to find a date, but not any date, someone to show Nathan she can get a handsome, smart, and wonderful man. With no luck before the wedding, she is encouraged to find someone at the resort. Feeling a little down, she is shocked, but instantly perked up when she is told that she is being upgraded, to a luxurious suite and is waited on hand and foot. She tells everyone that she has a date and it is his room, so now she must find someone fast.
I really enjoyed this story. It was entertaining, had humor, karma, and romance. Gigi's family are all wonderful. Her dad loves his jokes and although he could be embarrassing, was loved by his family. Her sister was very patient with Gigi, and really wanted her to enjoy herself. The only one that really frustrated me was Sunshine. She wanted to be the center of attention all the time and when she thought Gigi was, she tried to sabotage her. I liked Gigi's new friend, Donnie. He was there by himself and was pulled along by her family, who really liked him. He was Gigi's wingman when she was trying to find a date for the wedding. Some of those guys were hilarious and Donnie saved her more than once. I laughed out loud more than once. Some of the themes in this story include insecurity, friendship, loyalty, family relationships, honesty, social media, and romance. Of course this is a rom-com, so all turns out in the end, but what a fun time I had getting there.
This was a fun and light story and I had a really great time reading it. Gigi is bridesmaid to her sister who is having a destination wedding in Hawaii. Should be a fun time, only her ex is the best man and will also be attending with his new girlfriend. But Gigi keeps her chin up and is determined to make the best of things. She's pleasantly surprised when she arrives and, thanks to a case of mistaken identity, is treated to a luxurious suite and waited on hand and foot. She tells everyone she has a date to the wedding, and now the only problem is finding one.
This was such a fun read, I found myself and laughing and smiling all the way through. It was well-written and entertaining and captured my interest from start to finish. The characters are delightful and endearing and the journey from friends to more was so sweet and filled with such heart, I was thoroughly hooked and invested in the characters. The perfect beach read!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Not my favourite story by Portia MacIntosh but I’m glad I read it. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review.
I was behind with my ARCs so I decided to buy this story as an audiobook as I love narration by Karen Cass.
I always enjoy Portia's stories. They nearly always get at least 4 stars from me. This one was no different.
I loved Gigi, but would not want to be her. Sure I would love a nice break in Hawaii preparing for my sisters wedding, but I would not want to trade places with her going on dates and trying desperately to find a date for the wedding. Stories like this one make me happy to not be out in the dating world anymore... some of her dates would have scarred me for life and really make me want to just stuff it and stay at home, but they were very entertaining to hear about.
Karen Cass did a brilliant job with the narration as always and there was never a dull moment. I would recommend this story to anyone that enjoyes RomCom.
I really liked this book all the way up until the end. It just felt rushed in a way I did not appreciate. I really enjoyed going on the crazy dates the main character went on trying to find a date to her sister's wedding. I think the plot was interesting and I don't think I've ever read a similar story to this one. I read a lot so that is saying something. It is definitely unique. It was also laugh out loud hilarious. I love the jokes that this author uses and this book did not disappoint. I did really like the surreal look into the lifestyle of the rich and famous that Gigi gets to see. That was fun. However, I just wish the actual love story was given more page time. I would have liked to hear more about the relationship with the man Gigi ends up with. There were definitely some plot lines that could have been weeded out. Overall a fun summer read, but not my favorite from this author.
This is MacIntosh's best book! I kept wondering who the right person was going to be, but I'm glad it ended up the way it did. Such a great read.
This book was a cute summer read. I loved the setting and premise, who wouldn't want to be given VIP treatment for no reason?! I wasn't the biggest fan of the romance? We didn't get any romance till about 80% and even then it felt like it came out of nowhere.
This one just wasn’t for me I’m afraid! It just felt quite generic and I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the two leads, DNF at 46% just because I wasn’t excited to continue
A rip roaring, sun soaked read. There is a lot to love about this book. It’s a fun, light hearted story in the most beautiful setting. I loved it! The characters are hilarious and storyline is an absolute treat. This is a pleasure to read from start to finish.
Thank you Netgalley

Portia MacIntosh’s The Suite Life is the perfect pick to take on summer holiday!!!
Gigi is headed to Hawaii for her sister’s destination wedding. Spending uninterrupted time with family surrounded by scenic backdrops should be the recipe for a perfect week. But when her ex is slated to be the best man to her chief bridesmaid, things get complicated. Will she be able to enjoy her time and fulfill her role while avoiding her ex?
Portia MacIntosh has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary authors. I can always count on her to write the book I want to read. This is a fun, fast- paced read with a guaranteed happily-ever-after (HEA).
Special thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and
Portia MacIntosh for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
In this charming summer romance novel, Gigi travels to Hawaii for her sister’s destination wedding (to Gigi’s ex no less) sans wedding date. When she arrives in Hawaii, the countdown to find a date and silence her family is on, but the mix-up and room upgrade for Gigi really works in her favor -- it isn’t just anyone who gets a great upgrade and the royal treatment at a Hawaiian resort. This upgrade might just change her family’s perception of her, and Gigi might just find the perfect wedding date after all! With a beautiful tropical setting and all the trappings of luxury, this is a summer vacation in a book that readers will love to escape into. Charming characters and beautiful settings combine to create a fun and realistic atmosphere as the backdrop to a summer romance novel. Trope-y and lighthearted in all the best ways, MacIntosh’s latest novel is a fun summer read that fans of the romance and fiction genres are sure to enjoy. With her complex and charming characters, a fun plot, and a beautiful Hawaiian location, MacIntosh’s book is a wonderful summer romance which will transport her readers to Hawaii in search of a wedding date for Gigi.
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable. The plot is one that is engaging and I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
This was the most fun rom com that I have read in a long time! I giggled and out right laughed frequently while Gigi tried to negotiate life. It has been a long time since I have had to do the dating thing, but a lot of her dates brought back the memories of some of my hideous forays into the dating world. The anxiety of trying to be the perfect woman for the man standing in front of you and then after twisting yourself into a pretzel to be the Barbie of the moment, you realize that the man standing in front of you is a dud so why did you try to be something that you are not. All while getting intense pressure from friends and family to find the one! In this book, Gigi's life is even more tragic as she is trying to be the supportive, wonderful sister to Lucy who is about to be married in Hawaii all while having to face her ex who dumped her for a reality star semi-celebrity. Unfortunately for Gigi, her ex is the groom's best friend and as such is always involved in everything. I referred to him as Douchebag Dan, he really kind of is, throughout most of the book as his behavior and personality truly fits the nickname. The plot is hilarious, fun and truly well written. This is definitely a butterfly book as Gigi transforms from the mess that she is to truly being over things and blossoming into the wonderful woman she truly is. The characters are charming and delightful, except for the ones that are intended to not be and trust me when I say the author makes you really feel their shortcomings, so that you are drawn to the story and truly engaged in the characters endings! Once again, this author has brought us delightfully fun read that is just the perfect beach read any time of the year!
This book was such a fun read! I loved reading about Gigi's fun in Hawaii. Her ex-boyfriend, Nathan, is the best man at the wedding. It's hilarious to read what happens when she tries to avoid her ex and his reality star gorgeous girlfriend. I couldn't put it down. Would definitely recommend!
Portia MacInstosh is an auto buy author for me. The flow of her books and the unique story lines - I loved this book. While the setup is not new - being the maid of honor while your ex is the best man and brought his hot new girlfriend as his date… destination wedding… but the twist in this one is fun and was unexpected. I loved it and finished it within a day. I wish I was at the resort to watch this all happen in person.
