I am yet to read a portia macintosh book, that I have not enjoyed. They are always filled with fun and interesting characters, in a setting which shows off some flaws causing brilliant storyline.

This is no different. 10/10 loved it

Portia does it again with another hilariously clever read set in hawaii. Somewhere I've always wanted to go and it feels like I've been there with this book.

Portia writes like you are in the scenes and there was a lot of laugh out loud scenes and moments that I just loved.

Let's be honest here, there's no such thing as a Portia Macintosh book that I haven't liked lol. I love the lightheartedness of the stories, the humour and of course the romance that always hits perfectly.

I loved Gigi and and the ridiculous situations she gets herself into! and on the flip side I felt so sorry for her having to be at a destination wedding with her ex and his new girlfriend and could really understand just how vulnerable she felt, Such a fun story!

The Suite Life has all of the elements of a great beach read: comedy, romance, mix-ups, a tropical vacation, and a normal, everyday woman in an extraordinary situation. It’s a fun, light read to pick up for your next getaway.

I was very excited about the suite life by Portia Macintosh but this book is just not for me. I got very lost. I didn’t even finish chapter 1 meaning I had to DNF it. That’s how lost I was. I couldn’t understand what was going on at all. It could be somebody else’s cup of tea, but it was definitely not mine. I was very excited about this book after reading, the description seeing the cover like that but man, it sucked so bad. I don’t like it at all.

Gigi is off to gorgeous Hawaii to attend her sister's wedding. Unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend is the best man, accompanied by his stunning, famous influencer girlfriend. In a spontaneus decision, Gigi claims she will be bringing a mystery man to the wedding, who, in reality, does not exist. This tropical Romantic Comedy whisks us away on a luxurious getaway as Gigi attempts to find her ideal fake date! This delightful read had me chuckling and cringing with secondhand embarrassment at times! A perfect summer read that does not disappoint, as always, from the talented Portia Macintosh!

Thank you to @PortiaMacintosh, @boldwoodbooks and @NetGalley for this fun read!

I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!

This is the first book I've read by Portia MacIntosh. I loved it. I laughed out loud and rolled my eyes, but dad jokes do that to a person. It had a great storyline and easy to like characters. The whole time I was wondering where the author was taking this story and which character would be the mystery guy. A slow burn romance that I completely enjoyed reading. I didn't want to put it down.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I read an ARC of this book and it was so cute! From a plethora of terrible dates to a crazy VIP upgrade, exes and their new partner haunting vacation and a sister’s wedding on the horizon, Gigi is on one heck of a ride! This one will make you laugh out loud, gasp at the sheer magnitude of what the aforementioned VIP upgrade entails, meet a cast of entertaining guests supporting characters, and also enjoy Danny just as much along the way! Will Gigi find an impressive wedding date? Will she figure out just why she is getting such special treatment? And what hilarity will ensue? Read this one for an entertaining trip to Maui, a quest for saving face, and maybe just a little love along the way!

Portia never disappoints and this read is perfect for summer holidays or an entertaining weekend. I really enjoyed the book, it made me laugh a lot and it is a very pleasant and light read, plus the fake dating trope is one of my favorites and the fact that it is set in Hawaii makes it much more fun. Gigi was a great character and Donnie is incredible, very good development of the characters' friends to lovers. Another great hit from Portia and a book to recommend.

Now that Gigi's ex-boyfriend has a famous new girlfriend and both are groomsmen at her sister's wedding, she's looking for a date that will blow everyone's minds. And well, dating rich/famous people isn't really that great. Gigi is like having 5-6 dates with different men throughout the book to find the perfect wedding date but well... they're just living a very different life than her. These guys are not really her cup of tea.
Flying to Hawaii (cause her sister is having a fancy private wedding), getting upgraded to a luxury suite and getting everything she wants is more like her cup of tea. Finally she's living her life, getting over her ex and just enjoying herself. I find it a bit weird how little time she spends with her sister and family even though she's the bridesmaid...
Anyways, she also meets Donnie. Donnie who's such a good guy: supportive, shares her interests, has a good sense of humor and what happens? BOOM - Friendzone! Like wtaf?! He's literally the perfect guy for her but just not fancy enough for the wedding to seriously be considered?! Gigi I'm deeply disappointed tztztz
Nevertheless, I loved to read how they become friends, every meeting and just getting to know each other... It's kinda like friends-to-lovers.

All in all, a fun read that lacked a bit of depth and had a too rushed ending in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this book. There were some very unexpected moments and a really nice friends to lovers evolution. I’m not a big fan of mean girls (and there certainly is one in this book) but it was done well. This is a clean/wholesome read (only one very closed-door scene) and would be a good read for any romcom lover.

I discovered Portia MacIntosh through NetGalley and have enjoyed every book that has come out ever since! She writes a great blend of romance and humor that I adore, and I just tear through her books every time! She writes characters that are likeable, making it easy to connect with them. The Suite Life tells the story of Gigi, who could use a win after some obstacles throw a wrench in her relationship plans. Then, to add insult to injury, she gets to attend her sister's destination wedding in Hawaii where her ex is the best man. I loved Gigi and her family! They were adorable and hilarious! Things do not go smoothly, but it is a fun ride watching how it proceeds.

Gigi, a London hair stylist, is excited to be the head bridesmaid for her sister's destination wedding in Maui but there's one problem - she needs a date. And the date needs to be impressive because Gigi's ex is the best man and he'll be there with his hot new reality star/influenceer girlfriend. Gigi still hasn't found a date when she flies to Hawaii a week before the wedding but when she arrives at the hotel she discovers that there has been a mix-up and she has been upgraded to an incredible suite. And the staff at the hotel are treating her like royalty and waiting on her hand and foot. Gigi can't help but enjoy this taste of the suite life and it might even lead to her finding the perfect wedding date!

The Suite Life is an easy, breezy beach read - a cute, well-written rom-com that's pefect for summer reading!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for sending a digital ARC of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Suite Life by Portia MacIntosh

Blurb

Gigi isn't looking for the one. Just someone...! As she gears up for her sister’s destination wedding in Hawaii, the countdown is on for Gigi to find a date. Just someone to prove to her friends and family that she's ok, and to stop the pitying looks would be great!

Of course she can’t wait to be bridesmaid for her sister, but it’s just not ideal that the best man is also her ex… especially when he is bringing his hot new reality star girlfriend!

But when Gigi arrives at the hotel in Hawaii to find there has been a mix-up with her room, and she’s been upgraded to a suite, things start to look up. Not only is the room bigger than her entire flat, but the staff are waiting on her hand and foot, and she’s being treated like royalty!

Something isn’t quite right, but The Suite Life suits Gigi, and why shouldn’t she pamper herself while she mends her broken heart? It may even lead to her finding the perfect date after all…

My Opinion

Gigi wouldn't say that she was looking forward to her sister's wedding, there is a lot to plan and she will have to spend time with her ex-boyfriend. This was a very enjoyable read that I managed to read in one afternoon. In places it was funny and definitely had me chuckling. Gigi was such a relatable character. This is going to make for a fabulous summer read, and will have you imagining Hawaii before you know it.

Gigi is due to attend her sister's dream wedding in Hawaii, the only problem is that her ex will be there as the best man - along with his new influencer girlfriend. Desperate not to go on her own she tries a couple of arranged dates which, to put it mildly, don't go well. She then travels to Hawaii where she is stunned when she is unexpectedly upgraded to a suite in an already high end hotel.
I did feel for Gigi having to attend her sister's wedding with her ex there, along with his glamorous new girlfriend, and her attempts to find a date so that she isn't there on her own. The Suite sounded absolutely amazing, I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite once, but that wasn't a patch on this one. The various dates had their ups and downs, but there was one constant companion who supported her all the way. A good, lighthearted read which will help with your dreams of exotic places.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Gigi is heading to beautiful (and expensive) Hawaii for her sisters wedding. Unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend is the best man and he's bringing his beautiful, famous, influencer girlfriend. On a whim, Gigi says she's bring a mystery man to the wedding. As you can predict, he does not actually exist. This exotic destination Romantic Comedy takes us on a Luxury vacation as Gigi tries to find her perfect fake date! This fantastic read had me laughing out loud while experiencing second hand embarrassment at times! A great summer read! As always, Portia Macintosh does not disappoint!

Thank you to Portia Macintosh, the Publisher and NetGalley for this very enjoyable read!

The Suite Life is Portia MacIntosh’s latest friends-to-lovers, fake-dating romantic comedy set in Hawaii. While the characters are British and the story contains British phrasing, it is easy for Americans to understand. There is no profanity or sex scenes.

Gigi Marsden is in her early 30s and getting over a break-up from her long-time boyfriend, Nathan. She works as a hairdresser at an upscale salon in London, where she styles hair for the rich and famous. She had to move in with her parents, Shirley and Alfie, while she looks around for an affordable apartment.

Gigi’s older sister and best friend, Lucy, is getting married in two weeks on Maui, Hawaii. Gigi is the Maid of Honor, to the consternation of Lucy’s work colleague, Nina. Unfortunately for Gigi, Nathan is the Best Man for the wedding, since he is the groom’s best friend. Nathan is bringing his new girlfriend to the wedding, a reality TV contestant named Sunshine Greene. Gigi realizes that things will go more smoothly if only she can find a date for the wedding.

The owner of the hair salon where Gigi works and the other stylists set her up on some disastrous dates. So Gigi tells her family that her boyfriend will be at the wedding, but his identity is a surprise. Gigi is counting on being able to find someone while they are at the Grand Palm Resort. Gigi’s bad luck continues when she winds up traveling with Nathan from London all the way to the Hawaiian resort. Nathan and Sunshine are staying in the nice room that Gigi had booked months back, and Gigi re-booked herself a small room. When Gigi checks in at the resort, she is told that there was a problem with her reservation, and she is being upgraded to a suite.

Gigi is shocked at how spacious her suite is, and how the resort staff treat her like she is a celebrity. She appreciates that her suite is in a different area of the resort from the rest of the wedding party, so she can keep her distance while trying to find a wedding date. Gigi immediately befriends a handsome Englishman, Donnie, while checking in. he comes to her rescue later when a drunk man is too forward. Gigi enlists Donnie’s help in finding a date, with more hilarious results.

Donnie and Gigi develop a friendship as they spend most of their waking hours together. Gigi shares her concern about getting the upgrade to the suite and the fabulous perks that accompany it, but also enjoys the extravagance while it lasts. After a few days she sees a newspaper article about the discovery of an illegitimate child to a recently deceased billionaire who is named G.G. Marsden. This Marsden was believed to have traveled to Hawaii, which suddenly explains Gigi’s good fortune. Nathan meets Gigi’s family and then volunteers to play guitar for the wedding ceremony.

Gigi continues to tell her family that Donnie is just a friend, but she begins noticing how handsome he is. As Nathan continues to act like a jerk, she realizes what a great guy Donnie is. Sunshine is unkind to Gigi, and the reader waits for something catastrophic to happen.

The Suite Life is a gentle romance that contains many funny scenes. Most readers can identify with Gigi, a nice lady who tries to ensure that her sister’s wedding goes off without a hitch while avoiding her ex-boyfriend and his unlikable new lover. Donnie is a perfect romantic hero, although he only gives his first name and says that he’s getting over a failed relationship. I have read many stories containing bad blind dates, and the experiences in The Suite Life are original. If you are looking for a clean romantic comedy with little drama or angst, The Suite Life is for you.

Gigi doesn’t need “the one” she just needs someone to be the date to her sisters destination wedding. He ex has a fancy new girlfriend, and she’d like to have anyone. So she starts looking.

Things aren’t exactly going well. When the dates at home don’t go well, she sets off to Hawaii hoping to find someone there to go with her. When she arrives, she’s shocked to learn that shes been upgraded to one of the hotels fanciest suites.

With people waiting on her at every turn, Gigi can’t help loving the suite life. But can she figure out why she got this upgrade? Can she find the perfect date before time runs out?

This book was so much fun! I picked it up because it seemed like the perfect vacation read, and it delivered. I read it on a quiet day where we had nothing planned but relaxing, and many times as I read the pages, I found myself laughing out loud and having to read excerpts to my family while they laughed as well. Gigi’s dates were so relatable, and hilarious. When Gigi arrived in Hawaii it was so fun that she seemingly randomly got upgraded. Donnie was also a great character. I loved the friendship that developed between him and Gigi and how supportive he was of her. I kept suspecting that there was more to the story than was being let on, and when my questions were answered it was hilarious, right-on par with the rest of the story. Stories like this are why friends to lovers is by far my favorite trope! It is just so sweet and heart warming and gives me all the feels. Throw in a little close proximity and bam you have an amazing book.

This was my first book by this author, but her writing is perfect for me, and I can’t wait to read more.

If you want a really sweet, laugh-out-loud, clean romance, then you need to read this book!
