It looks like I'm in the minority here, but this book really wasn't for me. I think the sentence structure was a little too long-winded for me, as I felt like I was reading a lot of run-on sentences. Unfortunately, I had to add the book to my DNF shelf, as the writing style was extremely hard for me to read. However, I think that this book would work great for fans of hers (as she has many!) who are looking for a good poolside read.

The Suite Life follows Gigi on her quest to find love... or at least a date to her sisters wedding which is taking place in Hawaii. The beginning took place in London and then we followed Gigi to Hawaii. Gigi's ex boyfriend Nathan is now dating an influencer named Sunshine and Gigi wants to find a wedding date to compete with Nathan. The story centers on Gigi's failed date attempts and her new friendship with Donnie who she meets in Hawaii. The book was interesting with her dates and her upgrades, I wanted to keep reading to figure out why she was being singled out. But.. there were some parts that dragged and the timing seemed a bit off especially the last third of the book. I also would have loved some more interactions with her family because they were supposed to be at this resort for her sisters wedding but there were minimal interactions. The epilogue also didn't really feel like an epilogue? It also wasn't super noticeable that it was an epilogue but I did appreciate that there was one. Overall it was a fun read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Cute story. Fun plot. A good beach read. No spice which I wish I would’ve known beforehand.

A pleasant palate cleanser of a read from Portia Macintosh.
Hairdresser Gigi is jetting off to Hawaii for her sister's wedding. Problem is, the best man, Nathan happens to be her ex-boyfriend and better still he will be accompanied by his influencer girlfriend, Sunshine.
Gigi is on a mission to secure the most impressive plus one but will she succeed?

The Suite Life by Portia MacIntosh is another light, escapist read that will pair perfectly with your next beach vacation.

Gigi is off to celebrate her sister's wedding in beautiful Hawaii, though the fly in the sunscreen is that her ex, Nathan, will also be attending with his influencer girlfriend, Sunshine. Further complicating matters, Gigi feels the pressure to find a date for the nuptials, though a few ill-fated dates lead her to believe that she might just be embarking on an impossible mission.

This is a quick, fun read that has all of the trademarks of a Portia MacIntosh rom-com. Fans of the author's work will not be disappointed.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

Adorable book! I will say I was so distracted by the fact that Gigi was still searching for a wedding date when she had Donnie, who seemed so perfect right in front of her, that I was shocked by big plot reveal . Super cute, fun read! I highly recommend!

A Hawaiian vacation sounds ideal, but for Gigi it means attending her sister’s destination wedding with her ex and his new “perfect” girlfriend. Now Gigi is on a mission to find her perfect date. It’s hard to not root for Gigi in her quest. Family, friendship, and love come together in this perfect must read romance. Put down your to do list and plan to spend the day in Hawaii with Gigi, you’ll be happy you did.

I really enjoyed reading this book and thought it was the perfect beach read. There is a little bit of humor mixed in with some romance which made the book so fun. Gigi, the main character, was my favorite and I thought she really made the book special. I also enjoyed reading about Donnie and thought his character was so sweet.. Overall, the plot was fun and made for a great read and I would highly recommend it.

In The Suite Life, we meet Gigi. Her sister is getting married in Hawaii and Gigi has been in a crunch to find a date because her and her boyfriend had split. Her ex boyfriend is the best man at the wedding and he is bringing his hot, famous girlfriend. Gigi goes on a few dates looking for someone great to bring to the wedding but hasn't had any luck. When she checks into her hotel there seems to be a mix up with her room and she gets upgraded to a suite. She meets a guy named Donnie that ends up trying to help her find the perfect date to the wedding. The ending is wild and you won't want to miss it!

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Gigi's looking forward to her sister's wedding. There's just one problem; her ex will be there, with his celebrity girlfriend, so she hates the thought of showing up alone. Cue her plan to find an impressive date for the wedding. Her coworkers and clients are on board, doing their best to help her find the perfect date, but it turns out that "impressive" isn't exactly the winning criterion Gigi thought it was. Her attempts to find the perfect date continue once she reaches the resort, with a week until the wedding. Aided by her new friend Donnie, who has come to her rescue a few times already, she looks for a man who will impress her family and friends.

The Suite Life is an absolutely delightful book that's fun, at times funny, and really gets to the heart of what we look for in our partners, and why. I absolutely adored this book and flew through it in one sitting. It's a bit silly, a bit serious, and overall just very, very fun. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Portia MacIntosh.

➞ did it give suite life of zack and cody? not really, unfortunately. more like suite life on deck if i had to pick one. and did it take me almost a week to read a not even 300 page romance? yes! but that was no fault of the book which was actually so fun n cute n summery.

🧸┊the plot: gigi's not doing great, especially in her love life, and that's embarrassing for her when she goes to a friend's wedding and her ex is there with a hot new girlfriend. her solution? promise she has an equally hot plus one to the wedding. except she doesn't. so when she gets an upgrade to her hotel room and has a number of men at her beck and call, she decides to take advantage of this to find the perfect fake date. but then .. possibly more?

💐┊my thoughts: let me paint you a picture. it's march but feels like june, so you go buy a new bathing suit, run down to sit at the pool, drink smoothies and tan and read all day. that's where i was at when i started this book and the vibes were immaculate. this is such a fun summer read, and that's honestly one of the best compliments i can give a book getting published in april.

other than that this is nothing overly special, but not in a bad way. it's just a cheesy little romcom. a good palette cleanser, beach read sort of book. if i hadn't gotten busy i probably would've binged this in a day or two bc it's so no brain power. the writing is easy to read, the story and characters are fun, and it's really just a good time.

➞ not really a whole lot to say obviously but definitely pick this up this summer! even the cover is begging you to pick this up this summer! how could you deny a pretty cover happiness!

i may or may not have only requested this bc i immediately thought of the suite life of zack and cody when i saw it 😁

This is probably the second of Portia Macintosh's books that I have read, and it was as easy and entertaining as the first.
Gigi is in a bit of a bind. She has a beautiful opportunity to visit Maui, where her sister is getting married in a proper destination wedding, complete with a venue and hotel that costs an arm and a leg, and possibly a lot more besides.
However, she will have to contend with her ex being there, with his new influencer girlfriend, as he is her brother-in-law's best friend and best man. And she has no date of her own.
Instead of owning her single status, Gigi announces that she has a surprise plus-one joining her there and then finds herself in a bind as she tries to procure an impressive date with only a few days until she flies out.
Hilarity ensues as she suffers some horrendous dates, and then she opts to find someone in Maui.
While there, she gets an upgrade to her room, which is more than a kingsize bed. She finds herself in a suite suitable for a billionaire, with everyone waiting hand on foot for her and the undying adoration of far too many males around her.
She makes one friend, Donnie, who seems to be the only average person around, and the story develops as she continues her search for the perfect date.
There are some funny moments throughout the story, and it's a quick, easy holiday read that made me want to go to Maui to see the gorgeous views and maybe experience some of that billionaire suite life!

This laugh out loud rom-com features Gigi Marsden, a young single woman who really wants to find Mr. Right before her sister's destination wedding in Hawaii. She had a rough break up and really hit the bottom of the pool with her dating app, Who wants to be the only single in the bridal party? The only single at the wedding? And who wants to face her family without a date? Especially trying is the her ex-boyfriend, also the best man, is bringing his hot new influencer girlfriend to the wedding!

When Gigi checks into the hotel, there is a mix up with her reservation along with some confusion on the hotel staff. As a result, Gigi gets a private suite, endless amenities, and treated like a celebrity. She readily takes advantage of all of the "perks" she receives along with the upgrade suite. All the while, Gigi is still trying to find Mr. Right to be her plus one at the wedding. Needless to say, she does not exactly hit the jackpot with the men she meets, except for one who is more like a best guy friend.

The Suite Life is definitely a fun, easy read!

This was a sweet and easy romance. A little predictable but fun and characters were easy to like! Perfect for a summer poolside read.

Fun, light romance set in Hawaii. Loved the destination wedding theme for the book and extra special VIP treatment the main character received at the resort. Somewhat predictable in parts, but overall, a fun summer romance.

As the sun-kissed Hawaiian waves lap against the shore, “The Suite Life” by Portia MacIntosh unfolds with charm and humour. This delightful romantic comedy whisks readers away to a tropical paradise where love, laughter, and a touch of mischief await.

Meet Gigi Marsden: Bridesmaid Extraordinaire. She isn't looking for "the one." She's just hoping for "the plus one." As her sister's chief bridesmaid at a destination wedding in a luxurious Hawaiian resort, Gigi's mission is clear: find a date. Not just any date, mind you. She needs someone to prove to her friends and family that she's doing just fine post-breakup, and maybe to wipe away those pitying glances. Life sure has a way of throwing curveballs. Meet Nathan. He is Gigi’s ex-boyfriend and the best man. Oh, and did I mention he's parading around with his new reality star girlfriend? Talk about awkward.

As Gigi navigates the treacherous waters of the dating scene, each attempt at romance veers into uproarious territory. MacIntosh's signature wit shines through as Gigi's dates turn into hilariously disastrous escapades. Gigi's quest for a plus one is anything but ordinary.

A mix-up with her hotel room lands Gigi in a luxurious suite, which happens to be a space grander than her entire flat back home. Suddenly, she's being pampered like royalty, and the staff caters to her every whim. Something isn't quite right, but Gigi decides to embrace the unexpected. After all, why not indulge herself while she mends her broken heart?

As the Hawaiian sun sets over the azure ocean, Gigi's life takes an unexpected turn. AGAIN. The suite life suits her, and perhaps it's here that she'll find more than just a date. Could the perfect companion be closer than she thinks? MacIntosh weaves a heartwarming tale of friends turned lovers, set against a backdrop of swaying palm trees and starlit nights.

I found this read to be a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that captures the essence of sun-soaked love. MacIntosh's writing sparkles with humour, relatability, and genuine emotion. Whether you're lounging on a beach or curled up on your couch, this book is your passport to escapism. So grab a drink with fruit in it, kick off your sandals, and dive into the suite life for the perfect tropical escape.

Thank-you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A very fun and easy to read summer romance! Hawaii is the perfect setting for this story. Gigi and all her dates were hilarious and she was such a relatable character. Also, her family were really fun side characters. The suspense of trying to figure out how the hotel mix up happened was something I really enjoyed. A perfect mix of romance and comedy that had a really sweet ending :)

Y’all need to add this to your summer TBR immediately!! This was such a lighthearted, fun rom-com that kept me intrigued from the beginning. Portia is a new-to-me author who apparently has lots of other books that I can’t wait to read — I’m always happy to find a new fav author!

Destination wedding? Absolutely, sign me up. Ex-boyfriend being the best man in said wedding? Hard pass. When Gigi (chief bridesmaid) learned that she was going to be single attending her sister‘s wedding, she was less than thrilled to find out her ex was also attending and bringing his new girlfriend/influencer mogul, Sunshine.

Gigi immediately knew she needed a date so her colleagues hooked her up with a few contenders. Contender one: only here for the pranks/well known YouTuber. Contender 2: fantastic chef known for his seafood which Gigi hated. Contender 3: heavy metal musician that suggested a foursome. No thank you.

So off to Hawaii Gigi went. Single and alone. She got there and things changed quickly. She was upgraded to an amazing suite and treated like royalty. Turned out it was a classic case of mistaken identity but she was going to run with it. Along the way, she met Donnie — a charming, easy to talk to, genuinely nice guy and the two got along like old pals. Donnie helped Gigi with finding a date to the wedding but as time kept ticking it became obvious that the two might as well call it what it was: a kindling romance.

I loved everything about this book from the crazy dates to how amazing Donnie and Gigi’s friendship became in such a short amount of time. When you know, you know. Huge thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sending me this copy!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of The Suite Life in exchange for an honest and independent review.

Gigi is beyond desperate to find a plus one to her sister's destination wedding in Hawaii. This desperation stems from the fact that her ex-boyfriend will also be in attendance with his new uber-famous girlfriend, being that he is the best man. In the hopes of one upping his choice of significant other, Gigi tries to snag herself the most impressive plus one.

After a series of tragically bad dates that involve a seafood loving chef, a social media star, and an orgy loving death metal artist, Gigi gives up all hope of finding an out of this world plus one, and decides to go to the wedding solo on the off chance that she's able to meet Mr. Perfect while at the resort. Upon touching down in Hawaii, the tide starts to shift in Gigi's favor. Before she knows it her room is being upgraded to a jaw dropping suite, she's been given a gold card to the resort, and she seems to have caught the attention of all the eligible (and ineligible) men at the resort. Buy why?

Gigi decides to enlist a wingman in her search for the perfect wedding date, especially now that she has men coming out of the woodwork to impress her. Introducing Donnie! Donnie is staying at the resort alone after a rather painful breakup and he quickly takes interest in Gigi's quest to land the perfect plus one. It isn't long before the disaster dates continue and Gigi has given up all faith in men. Or has she? As all doors seem to open to her while on the island, will she make the most of the opportunity to land Mr. Right? Or Mr. Right Now?

In this adorable friends to lovers romance, you can't help but fall in love with the main character, Gigi and her hopeless romantic approach to life and dating. As a reader, you cringe watching her twist herself into exactly what she thinks the other person wants her to be. But isn't that what some of us do all the time in relationships? It was so encouraging to watch her grow and learn who she is and what she really values in a relationship. After all, money cannot buy love or even happiness (but apparently it can buy a mean mai tai). Will Gigi learn that in time as to not miss out on a one in a lifetime opportunity?
