A touching tale about a fearless feline. This book has it all, it’s informative, comedic, sobering and touching and will leave you believing anything is possible with a positive mental attitude like little Homer.
We follow Gwen as she tumbles through a breakup and finding somewhere to live with her two cats Scarlett and Vashti when she receives a phone call about a blind kitten, Homer. As Homer grows he becomes fearless and fiercely loyal, even fighting off a burglar and dealing with the fall out of 9/11. Described as a “tiny dynamo with a giant heart” you can’t help but fall in love with this plucky cat.
Thank you Delacorte press and NetGalley for my arc.
Homer is a cat anyone would love, even dog people. Gwen is thoroughly besotted by her blind youngest cat and with good reason. He is a delight as only cats can be. This story of his (and her) life from young kittenhood will very firmly tug on the heart strings of any cat lover. A great feel-good read and that will lead the reader to tears and laughter. A joy.
Thank you for the opportunity to read about Homer.....what a chap. I thoroughly enjoyed the New Edition and will recommend it in any comments.
What a wonderful book that I know I will read again.
Homer was absolutely adorable and his owner Gwen gave everything for taking a chance on him and saving his life. The love and protection he gave was like he knew how Gwen had saved him and he enjoyed every minute of his life
This is the story of an exceptional cat, a cat I used to follow on Facebook and one of those cats that made me cry when they went to the bridge
If you were ever owned by a cat you will recognize some of you cat's antics and will have a good time.
If you expect a fast paced & action packed story may you'd better read something else unless you're a cat lover.
As a human owned by three cats I loved it and I strongly recommend it as it made me smile amd moved to tears
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Such a lovely book! Who could fail to fall in love with a blind cat called Homer?
In part if the book the author was living on New York when the twin towers were hit. I had Beverly until now considered what happened to the animals left in appartements in the no go zone..
Well written, warm and entertaining
I cannot find words to say anything bad about this book. I absolutely loved this story about Homer, his owner Gwen, and other two cat siblings. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy but also horrified at the chapter about 9/11. I never even thought about the people who had pets stuck in their homes when the twin towers came down. Awful.
I am a huge animal lover. I loved this book. I found it heartbreaking, funny and life-affirming all at once as the author navigates life and recognises the impact her gorgeous, resilient cat has on her. The author evokes so much from her writing; we can all learn from Homer.'s approach to life!
I had a little mog for more than twenty years, we called her Mogdo, the Mogdalorian, and she left us two years ago. I used to write of her adventures and the things she got up to in life, and I recognised in this book, the same love that I have for my little Mogdo. This was beautfiully written and a pleasure to read, and certainly one for all cat lovers out there.
Got a tear in my eye, going to sign off here, this was a wonderful book.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the free copy in return for an honest review, no other inducements have been made, my words are my own.
