**Book Review: An Emotional Rollercoaster**
Prepare for an exhilarating journey! This emotionally charged novel is a gripping marathon that maintains its breakneck pace and tension right up to the final page. The prologue offers a gentle start, but once the story takes off, it races ahead with relentless momentum.
The characters are richly developed, each grappling with their own struggles and desires. Their complex relationship unfolds against a backdrop of personal challenges, a cruel ex, and shady business dealings, keeping readers on their toes.
While the pacing is invigorating, the final stretch can feel overwhelming, as the action remains intense and the betrayals keep piling on. Ultimately, this book earns a solid four out of five stars for its compelling narrative. It’s a thrilling read that will keep you captivated until the very end!
I really enjoyed this one - it was intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat! It was my first read by Zainab Sambo and I already can't wait to read more of the series!
Thank you so much to Netgally for an ARC of this book. This book was a bit hit and miss for me althought it was a quick read that had some interesting twists which kept me interested and engaged throughout!
However, there were some plot holes in the book which bothered me at times and as an English teacher, I found some of the writing and the syntax to irritate me!
Nonetheless this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to seeing how the characters develop throughout the rest of the series!
In "Fearlessly Bound," Zainab Sambo crafts a compelling narrative that delves into the complexities of power dynamics, ambition, and the tumultuous dance between desire and fear. The story centers around Mason Campbell, a man characterized by his wealth, charm, and ruthlessness—a combination that makes him both alluring and intimidating. As one of the most powerful figures in England, Mason embodies the archetype of the quintessential anti-hero, drawing the envy of his male counterparts and the longing of women who yearn for his attention. Yet beneath the surface of his striking persona lies a tempestuous temperament that sets the stage for an engaging conflict. Lauren Hart, the novel's protagonist, finds herself in the challenging position of Mason's assistant. Initially, she is overwhelmed by his arrogance and volatile nature. Sambo skillfully portrays Lauren's struggle, capturing her resilience and determination in the face of adversity. The author invites readers to empathize with Lauren as she navigates the complexities of working for a man who exudes both danger and allure. The tension between them is palpable, and it becomes clear that Mason's interest in Lauren transcends the professional boundaries of their relationship. What makes "Fearlessly Bound" particularly captivating is the balance Sambo strikes between the seductive charm of Mason and the strength of Lauren's character. While Mason's wealth and appeal draw people toward him, it is Lauren's integrity and bravery that ultimately shine through. As the story unfolds, readers are taken on a journey that explores the nature of power, consent, and the choices we make when faced with overwhelming circumstances. The dynamic between Mason and Lauren challenges traditional gender roles, as Lauren embodies both vulnerability and strength, offering a refreshing take on the archetypal damsel in distress. The narrative is rich with tension, building to a climactic point where Mason presents Lauren with an offer she cannot refuse. This pivotal moment serves as a catalyst for character development and sets the course for their relationship, forcing Lauren to confront her own desires and the implications of her choice. Sambo's writing is both vivid and emotionally charged, immersing readers in the highs and lows of this complicated love story. In conclusion, "Fearlessly Bound" by Zainab Sambo is an enthralling tale that captivates with its exploration of desire, power, and the complexities of human relationships. The juxtaposition of Mason's dangerous allure against Lauren's determined spirit creates a riveting narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. With well-developed characters and an engaging plot, this novel is a must-read for anyone who enjoys romantic fiction with a twist. Sambo's ability to weave together the threads of ambition, attraction, and moral dilemmas leaves a lasting impression, making "Fearlessly Bound" a standout addition to the genre.
I really enjoyed this book for the most part. There were moments I lost a bit of interest or had a harder time staying interested in everything going on, but overall I really enjoyed the plot, and I was continually kept guessing at what was going to happen next.
Intense and complex enemies to lovers in a world of high power, betrayals, secrets, and deceit. Definitely nail biting and edge of seat throughout, and way more secrets than you might guess. Satisfying and addictive.
*I did receive this book from NetGalley*
This is the story of Mason and Lauren. Lauren is in need of a job to pay her father's medical bills and she literally runs into Mason who offers her a job. Mason is a cold, ruthless, billionaire who is the CEO of his company and hires Lauren to be his assistant. Soon, Mason asks Lauren to agree to be in a fake marriage with him. He will get his grandfather's inheritance and she will get her father's medical bills paid for. As they grow closer and closer as a married couple, many things try to push them apart. They must overcome jealousy in the family, threats, death, and kidnapping to test the true powers of their love.
I really liked this book. I will say it is not the best written book, but I still liked it. I liked that it was a slow burn, it was not too dramatic, it made me laugh, it made me cry, and the plot twist at the end was actually surprising to me. I am holding back from giving it five stars because it was choppy at some parts, made me cringe in others, and I feel like I just read three books in one because of all that happened. I will say that there was a lot of back and forth, which normally I despise, but I did like it in this book because it felt more realistic and I felt more connected to the characters. I just love a fake marriage book and this checked almost every box for me!
Fearlessly Bound was an overall pretty good read. It has all the elements of a romance novel that I would typically enjoy. Some parts had me a bit confused, but I am glad I stuck with it to the end. There were plenty of twists and turn; it was a suspenseful and thrilling ride. It was intriguing and has me curious as to how the story is going to continue.
This book wasn't for me. I love cheesy books, don't get me wrong, but this was too unrealistic and cheesy to keep reading.
At first, I wasn't too sure about this novel from the starting point. It started off with Mason being a guy with so many red flags, like not even in the cute way, it was disturbing. Very abusive emotionally and sometimes physically. I didn't really understand Laurie's attraction to the guy, who treated her like shit, other than her being into his looks.
But, I was glad when the story started moving away from all of that. It made it more enjoyable to read.
Beth was a great character, but I wasn't too fond of the mains. Their characters were a bit icky.
I did really like the original plot. However, I found that the author threw in random plot twists to extend the story, which made things a bit confusing. It was like they wanted the big surprise, then another big surprise, but there was no real lead-up towards them, they just magically appeared without any foreshadowing. Not even any indications of anything occurring until BAM it's just there. The last plot twist threw me off. Not sure how else to describe that. I think if the author stuck with the original plot, the story would have had more impact.
Character development did occur, which I did enjoy reading. Mason's character definitely went through major changes, and I liked seeing that other side to him. I found Laurie didn't change much, and at times she kind of annoyed me. I think the only change she gained was her confidence had grown but, in my own opinion, still felt like she was an accessory to Mason.
All in all, the story was engaging, it did have some dialogue that was entertaining, and I did end up enjoying a bit of it. There is a lot of potential, and the story itself is unique.
'Fearlessly Bound' offers a fun escapade despite its occasional logical lapses. The book's foreshadowing, while effective, might divulge too much, robbing some moments of their surprise. Additionally, the persistent hostility of the male main character towards the female lead may be off-putting for some readers. Nevertheless, this novel delivers on its promise of entertainment for those seeking an engaging read.
Thank you, NetGalley and Zainab Sambo, for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Firstly this book does not fit into the Erotica category. Not a single steamy sex scene which was disappointing.
Overall the book is good, the characters have depth and a real back story which was gripping.
However, sometimes it was unclear whether we were in the past or the present, sometimes it always also unclear who was talking. Also, they spent far too long hating each other for my liking!
I enjoyed reading but I wouldn't read again and I don't think I would read anymore in the series.
Fearlessly Bound is a Billionaire boss and Assistant romance. Normally I love the Alpha hole boss trope however Mason was such a jerk, the story was hard to read. No one acts that way to a stranger and certainly not someone they are attracted to. He is a super stereotype of a terrible boss. On top of that he doesn't recognize her the next day like it is under him to remember someone he Gave a job to. Mason's character was just too unrealistic for me.
I got this as an ARC from netgalley so I’m very grateful for that !
Unfortunately this book didn’t hit for me at all, and unfortunately I had to DNF within the first 30 pages!
For me personally, the writing felt very choppy, some of the sentences had very little flow and I felt myself going back over sections because it didn’t make sense to me!
The writing felt too much of telling me instead of showing me, there was a lot of “I did this” “I wore this” “I sat” . I think a direct improvement of this would be to review the sentences once written, do they flow? Make sure there’s not several short, snappy sentences in quick succession, having complex sentences would have definitely helped here. I think more showing rather than telling would have made a massive difference too!
The dialect also felt slightly off, as a British person myself, the British slang in the book isn’t something I’ve ever heard! Plus in England you’re more likely to be called “miss” than “ma’am” (unless of course you’re the queen). The initial premise of the book also made no sense, her dad is needing medical care and the bills are racking up?? We have the NHS here, so medical care is free, no bills required! Again, improvement would simply be to do more research!
I think overall, I could predict the major plot holes, I think this needed a bit more finesse and focus on the quality of the writing, but the story line does have potential if the author wanted to give it another go!
A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I believe this is part of a series. What a crazy, wild read! Lots and lots of twists and turns. Super unexpected but I truly enjoyed it! 4 stars
This book was strangely captivating. I had a hard time putting it down, I was curious to see what would happen next. It was not like anything I have read before and was extremely weird at times. I did enjoy the story line. I would probably not read this again but I would read a book from this author again.
Hold onto your seats! This is a absolutely emotionally charged, marathon of a book that keeps up the tempo and the events till the very last page, wringing out the emotion and passion. The prologue is almost too gentle for the book, a middle of the night wake up and then a new job and boss. From the second that the plot absorbs the prologue the foot is down to the metal and the story races along.
The emotions are full and both lead characters are fully invested with the wounds and wants and needs very clearly exposed. The relationship is a fascinating one and into this is woven business, ailing parents, a cruel and mad ex alongside underhand mafioso like business dealings,
The pace of the book is great Andi was very much pulled along always looking out for what might come, or the next twist. The book is a very long one, and I got a little exhausted in the last quarter, as the punch’es are still not being pulled and there is still so much going on, nothing is simple, there is treachery everywhere and the action is hard and brutal.
The book deserves the four out of five for the addictive qualities, I just needed a rest to be able to finish it!
Fearlessly Bound was a pretty good read, there was some plot issues in my opinion. A lot of plot jumping that left me a little confused but was not hard to ignore and move on in the book if that makes sense.
The book is filled to the brim with thrilling suspense, sass, and tension. When the plot wasn't jumping it wasn't a terrible read. Would I read it again, probably not, but I am glad to have at least given it a chance.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advance e-copy of Fearlessly Bound, in exchange of an honest review.
The characters are well written and nicely developed.
However, I got quite confused with this one and had to re-read sections. Plus it was quite repetitive. I also felt the dialogue was very stilted and unrealistic.
I can't really comment much more because it went over my head.
I thought I got what this novel is but now I’ve finished it I’m not sure I do.
If we start with the positives, then the downsides of each aspect, then the blurb promised you a powerful male billionaire lead and that’s what you get, with all the grumpy, ‘I don’t have time nor inclination for a partner’ vibes you’d expect. But I think this fell too far on the ‘I’m actually a controlling asshole and if I wasn’t ludicrously rich you’d want your female friends about me’ side.
I’m almost certain at one point it stated he was like some gangster in London, giving us this Peaky Blinders suggestion… so that’s fun…. but then everything else seemed oddly American (including having to get a job to support her ill father’s medical bills rather then use the NHs and get a job to, like, pay for things. And having a mom. And the side characters could not be more caricatured.
The plot built up to this big love story and I would agree there is chemistry. But three things here…. One. Sometimes what was happening within the page didn’t make sense (I’d have to reread sentences ; paragraphs or whole sections again for example). Two- the background twist was just insane! And frankly going back to slightly creepy man, who was rather easily forgiven because… ‘feelings!’ (How about feeling this is batshit crazy and running needs to be done) And three, I am fairly sure this was meant to be erotica and, while I actually prefer romance to explicit scenes, it wasn’t clear then they actually had sex for the first time… surely this should be at least slightly clear? For ages I thought there was lots of kisses (and lots of focus on stroking necks and touching tongues) but I wasn’t clear if they actually knew what to do after that. So if you’re looking for erotic scenes you’re not going to get it here.
Anyway, suspend your worries that actually this is a fairly toxic relationship and you will quite enjoy it, possibly.
