I'm sorry but why did Jamie at the big age of 30 slip a note under her door breaking up with her. YOU ARE THIRTY NOT TWELVE. What does a Harry Styles grin even mean aswell. I'm sorry but this book was just too messy for my liking. Thank you for letting me read it though!

I read Enemies to Lovers by a pool in Spain in the sunshine and it was the perfect holiday read. I loved Laura's previous books and this was another fabulous offering from her. An easy to read romcom with relatable characters and a brilliant family dynamic to engage with I flew through it in a day.
One I'd recommend.

Enemies to Lovers is a great summer/beach read full of slow burn yearning and sunshine. I really ljked Flo as a main character and the love interest was very sexy! Some low-key spice was very well done, and the misunderstandings were contrived but well thought out.
Highly recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
This is a quick read about a family holidays in Greece where they invite also their son´s friend which almost had a love adventure with their daughter.
Throughout the book, there are several misunderstandings. The main one stems from years ago when the friend left a note for the sister saying he was leaving because he couldn't be with her. When they get together during the family vacation in Greece, the tension is palpable. The family relationship adds to the novel with funny moments. It is an easy-to-read novel, perfect for reading on a summer vacation or between more intense books, such as psychological crime or horror novels.

My first Laura Jane Williams read and it has swiftly become one of my favourite reads of 2024! It was a bit of a slow burn, but I quickly found myself falling in love with Flo and Jamie, their flaws and all, and of course the rest of the family. Overall, the love and struggles shared between various family members felt very real and was something I could resonate with.

Enemies to Lovers need to hold a place on everyone’s holiday read list!

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book. I enjoyed this book, I liked finding out a little bit of all the character's persononalities and not just the main characters.

I was very kindly shared an early copy of this book, overall I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and characters. Would love a sequel and maybe exploring one of the brother’s storylines. It was a little slow but built the suspense and I read the second half of the book in one sitting. I’ve read a few of Laura Jane William’s books and I won’t hesitate to pick up the next title!

When the title is your favourite trope, you know you’re on to a winner. I love Laura Jane Williams’ writing and this has to be my favourite of hers so far. It’s the perfect summer read with wonderful family relationships, likeable and relatable characters and a beautiful romance. I was in a bit of a reading slump before I started this and I couldn’t have found a more charming book to help sort me out.

Although predictable, I could relax into the story, finding myself invested in Flo’s life and her relationships. My only criticism is that it ended too soon - I need more Flo and Jamie!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

I really enjoy Laura Jane Williams’ writing but this just missed the mark.
I think the biggest problem is the title, ‘Enemies to Lovers’, it is a very targeted, key word-esque title that holds no compatibility with the actual story. The main couple were more awkward with each other than enemies, I suppose it is a more realistic version of enemies - not as fun though.

Following the title there was an influx of ‘TikTok language’ usage which confused me. The characters are all majority in their 30s but use words like ‘the ick’ and ‘pick me girl’. It’s giving the same vibe as over 21 year olds having a Snapchat..strange.

A theme of dilution continued throughout the book. Many plot points which could have been an opportunity to go in deeper with and explore the emotion and mental fortitude of were simply glossed over. I was upset with this was when it was revealed that Laurie, the brother/best-friend, was the one who wrote the note (in his 30s?!?). This was because the key problem I had was actually on Flo. Laurie explains he did it to protect Flo and Jamies’ mental health over their respective issues they were dealing with. Now we see a lot of Flo’s battle with her mental health but we continually gloss over Jamies grief of losing both his parents. The man cries, shows a lot of gratitude and love to the family who includes him and follows the word of his best friend even when it’s over the one thing he wants. Yet when we have a chance to go deeper into Jamies struggle we ignore that and focus on Laurie and Flo. Jamie deserved a lot better from Flo.
Flo continually focused on herself. When her dad suggested that she should check in with her mother about her retirement and her feelings surrounding that, Flo did the bare minimum. I don’t believe they even spoke, it was mentioned later with the whole family but again another missed opportunity to delve into something deeper, facing retirement when you don’t feel ready.
The inclusion of the SA was also weird, I don’t think we needed it for the story. I have too many words and not enough words to explain my feelings on this.

I think there was a strange combination of trying to appeal to a younger audience with the wording and glossing over, but also trying to be adult with the spice and mentions of possible deeper conversations that when paired together it wasn’t cohesive.

Now I did really enjoy the Greek setting it was fun and matched the holiday romance theme. The family bonds were really well done and felt realistic too. The building of the romance could have been given more tension, even though I can’t think of what. When I think back there was plenty of scenes where it probably tried to be tension filled but just weren’t. It was a fun story but I just didn’t feel satisfied with it, nothing felt rounded out in the end.

I was really drawn to this book by its cover and title, but it turns out it just wasn't my cup of tea.

There were several elements that didn't sit well with me personally, and although I finished it, it wasn't a good fit for me.

However, I always say that just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't for you. Everyone has different tastes, and I appreciate that.

I recommend this book for people who love Enemies to Lovers and Brother's Best Friend dynamics.

Thank you, Penguin, for sending me this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was very kindly sent an early copy of Enemies to Lovers by Laura Jane Williams on Net Galley and it was the perfect holiday read!

I loved the family dynamic, the banter between the characters and enemies to lovers is my all time favourite trope! This was the perfect read while being away as it is set in Greece while the main character's, Florence, family are on holiday together. I really liked Florence and Jamie as characters, as well as the rest of the family. It was a nice, easy and light read

i did NOT expect to like this book as much. it has a cheesy title and a pretty standard plot. HOWEVER, i really really enjoyed reading this. the characters are all so likeable and the chemistry between flo and jamie just makes perfect sense. i also relate to flo a lot, to the point that i was actually in tears at some point. living with anxiety is not only hard on yourself but also really challenging/difficult for the people around you. it was really beautiful as well as heartbreaking to see how misunderstandings turned into epiphanies at the end. i felt a very deep connection to these characters, i genuinely did not expect i would. the writing is top-tier and the setting feels so refreshing and like the perfect escape! loved it!

This book was a pacy, fun and sexy read perfect for lounging by the pool. I LOVED Flo’s narrative, she was actually hilarious, totally relatable, and had me laughing out loud. The chemistry between Flo and Jamie was tangible and so well written; you could feel their tension and desire for each other jumping off the page. I loved the family dynamics and the warmth and humour of each character. I also particularly loved the setting of Greece! Made me wanna pack my backs and fly away!!! However, I kinda hated the third act breakup moment, to me it felt really rushed and I had no idea what had happened to make their romance fall apart so dramatically. It was intense !!! That being said, I really enjoyed this romantic comedy and will definitely be recommending it this summer. Thank you to the publisher for my gifted copy via Netgalley!

Flo Greenberg: highly strung and an overachiever. She's heading on a family holiday to Greece, Sun, Sea, Relaxing, & Jamie Kramer. He's her brother's best friend, Who's she's been avoiding for the last few months.

With two surprise weeks of sharing meals, boat trips and sun-loungers, Flo must endure the company of Jamie. But after what happened last year, she’s determined not to let him get the better of her.

Flo uses the fact that he's around for 2 weeks to get to know the real him and is sure she's going to hate what she finds out.... or so she thinks. When exposure therapy takes a turn.

I was stuck in a bit of a reading slump when I started this book, It took me a couple of chapters to actually get into it. Once I was in, I dived right in. I hated putting it down and was always wanting to know what's next. Unfortunately work & life happened and I couldn't read it as quickly as I would've liked. I made the big mistake of reading a chapter or two before work just as I hit 80%ish and it was all I could think about. I couldn't get home from work quick enough to finish it off.

I loved the character development of Flo, and truly felt for her at times. She made me cry at the end and I couldn't even see the words on my screen. You'll know where I mean when you read it. I really liked the different takes on her brothers and felt more versatility was added from Alex.

- Single POV
- Enemies to lovers (sort of)
- Brothers best friend
- Forced proximity
- Bits of spice

I give this book a 3.75 star rating

this book was a quick easy read, it follows Flo and Jamie (brothers best friend) on a family holiday. They had a bit of a fling at Christmas but Jamie leaves by putting a note under Flo’s door.

HATED Laurie. Typical “protective big brother.” Alex was iconic in his own little ways.

I definitely think a trigger warning would be good as one chapter touched a topic that could be triggering to some people. Although it’s not massively graphic it’s still a sensitive topic.

There was also a page with a random = sign in the middle to a sentence and I’m not sure if it was meant to be there?

but overall i did enjoy this book! It was cliche but that’s one of my favourite things about it💅🏼

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

This is my first ARC & I couldn't wait to get started. I loved the greek setting and think this would be a perfect beach read.

Flo was relatable and I think the book has good mental health rep. Jamie was also an interesting character, but feel that readers could benefit from knowing a bit more about him.

The story flowed really well, with short chapters. The author's take on therapy and mental health added depth to the characters.

Overall, it's the perfect summer read, and I feel lucky to have read it before its official release on 15th August!
