This book had me on the edge of my seat from page one! Twists, suspense, and just a wonderful read.
I really enjoyed this take on the classic fairytale. although, the ending had me a bit confused, I loved how it all came together and "true love wom" between our two main characters.
With how the characters were represented, you feel connected to them and are rooting for them early and often. I really enjoyed this read and recommend.

::| Throwing my smoke to the ground, I curse under my breath, turn and feel myself cave, give into her once again when I've promised myself so many times that I wouldn't.
"Wendy, I..." but before I can finish, the floor falls out from under her and she starts to tumble off the cliff. My eyes widen as she turns back my way and then quickly scrambles to keep her footing as the rocks falls away to the ditch hundreds of feet below is.
"Peter!"
"Fuck me."
Swaying and bending out across the ledge, I grab hold of a swinging vine and shout, "Wendy! Grab this in three. Two.. One!"
The vine swings out, misses, and comes back to me faster than before. She cries out in fear, the rocks quickly tumbling out from under her as she claws at the ground that's left, trying to keep from joining them in the abyss below.
"What are you doing?" She demands. "This isn't time for games, Peter. Catch me. Fly out to me!" |::
Losing Neverland is a very seductive take on a twisted version of Peter Pan, where creativity has harnessed a power and completely left anyone who has read this book with a lasting, prominent, impression and a very addictive desire to read it all over again!
The Jekyl and Hyde concept was so clever and worked so well! I have to admit, Tink as a villain... I couldn't see it. Now I can't unseen it. It's ruined Tink for life for me ๐๐๐๐๐๐
No seriously the story was really thought out well. Sometimes, some authors who like to dabble in the saucy stuff have weak plots and strange goings on but this is not one of them authors!!
I like the flickering light and darkness in the man of the hour and it was nice to see John in a pivotal role.
Every little string made sense and had a place but now I'm burdened with questions that is begging for a follow up book!!
Can Michael cope on his own? Who took over from Jake? Is Tiger Lily now in charge? What happened to the Jolly Roger crew? Does the twins have magic or/and what happens if they enter the darkness?
I have a thousand more!!!!
I really enjoyed this. It takes a lot for me to turn on Disney and within a day.. Well.. let's just say I now want this to be a future film I watch!! It was interesting, and very thoughtfully put together.
Had I wished Hook had remained strong, evil and ruthless a little longer and carried out his threats? Yeah. (Because he would have hated himself more, just another level I'm willing to read into ๐๐) Does that make me a sadist? Yeah. Am I in love with this character? Quite possibly. ๐๐๐
Thank you to Evelyn Montgomery for her permission and Net Gallery, for allowing me to read this amazing e-book in return for me writing an honest review.
I just reviewed Losing Neverland by Evelyn Montgomery. #LosingNeverland #NetGalley #Peterpab #TwistedDisney #Saucy #Darkness

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
I am always up for a Neverland retelling and there was quite a bit to enjoy in this version. As with all dark romance stories, definitely check the content warnings ahead of time. In this story, Peter and Hook are one in the same, basically a light and dark side of the same coin. Both Peter and Wendy have dark events in their past which has driven them apart and Peter is forced to bring Wendy back to Neverland. I liked that Peter truly cared for Wendy from when they were very young, and they let events and secrets keep them apart. The two of them having to re-examine their past to be able to reconnect was the best thread in the story. The spicy scenes between them were well done, although I didn't really think about the fact that Peter hadn't aged or if he did, that wasn't made cIear, and with Wendy being that much older......that's yeah...... I felt that some characters and parts of the story were barely touched as to why they were doing what they were doing and that took away from the flow of the story. Why did John make the early choices he did, and how didย the early years of Peter/Hook come about? These areas felt rushed a bit as did the last 15% or so of the story so the ending didn't have as much emotional impact as potentially it could have.

I am a huge dark, Disney retelling fan so I was extremely excited for this book. I loved the unique take on Peter Pan/Hook and it felt very fresh and new. I wish there had been more of an internal battle for control within him as the two personalities fought. I also wish this had mattered somehow, rather than just being there to make the character dark. The smut was there and it was good so if youโre looking for smut look no further. I loved the idea of Tinker Bell serving as an antagonist and how that connects to Tinkโs jealousy in the original story. It was a super quick and easy read so this would be a perfect detox book or break book between series. I liked the two timelines but they felt too similar and not like they were 17 years apart. I did find this story very predictable and the ending left so much to be desired. The book is primarily romance and smut, with only a bit of plot all dumped at the end. I wish the plot had been introduced earlier and developed more because it felt so random.

Very smutty Peter Pan retelling. I liked the premise, but the actual storytelling wasn't for me. It felt much longer than it actually was and was a bit disjointed. Even with the fantasy/magic aspects there were too many plotholes (ex: the fairies were so powerful yet so easily defeated). I hope the author fixes the spelling mistakes (ex: burro instead of burrow, phase/phased instead of faze/fazed, and troupes instead of tropes in the afterword). I'd rate this a 3.5.

What in the Jekyll and Hyde did I just read, like I don't know how to move on from this!? My emotions are so messed up right now. The plot, the characters, the spice, just everything about Losing Neverland was amazing. I finished it in a day, and I am not sure how I am supposed to move on from adventure. The age gap through me off, but there was a trigger warning in the beginning so I was pre-warned. This is a book I would probably read again. I highly recommend this read!!

Unfortunately, I donโt really have anything positive to say about this book. I wanted to DNF when at 60% and absolutely nothing had yet happened but I pushed through. Using italics for the entire chapter when telling about the past was unnecessary when the chapters began with โseventeen years earlier.โ I found multiple spelling mistakes including bolder when it was meant to be boulder or burro when meant to be burrow. This was advertised as dark romance but was actually quite mild. One positive note is that it was a quick read, even if boring, due to the entire last 9% being multiple excerpts of other works and titles (with prices) of other books by the author. I found that to be tacky.

While I appreciated this book, it just wasn't for me. It was probably because I had high expectations for it. I kind of wished we got more like emotion and such but maybe it was just me and my expectations.

This was awful and I read half before deciding to DNF it. Hook/Peter is so aggressive, possessive, and violent, even towards Wendy whom he claims to love, that it is comical. Wendy has no personality. Their morbid past is continually hinted it, but during the flashbacks, nothing is really explained. The plot is unclear and none of the characters are worth investing in.

"You and me, Wendy. That's the beginning and the end of everything."
What a deliciously dark ride this has been!
as always, check your triggers before reading because this one is fairly dark.
I'm not usually one for a second chance romance but this one really did it for me. It was gritty and so full of emotion especially Wendy and Peters backstories, my heart broke for them. This retelling was so well done. the build up with the past part of the dual timeline and seeing the evolution of Peter/Hook really hooked me in and wouldnt let me put the book down!
I will definitely check out more from this author after this!
The only thing holding this back from 5 stars for me is some of the conversations were a bit confusing on who was speaking to who at times
*Thank you NetGalley for providing me a copy to review*

First of all I want to thank the author and netgalley for this ARC. I loved Peter Pan's retelling, as well as loving this author's writing, the writing keeps us hooked on the plot. Thank you for another journey to a fantasy life full of successful dreams

I knew I was going to find a dark story... but the truth is that I didn't like it at all. Me. I saw that several people did like me and I think that, perhaps, the genre is not for me.
I was excited because it is a retelling but from a darker and more sinister side. But I didn't feel comfortable reading this book. I didn't feel like I was really reading what the synopsis presented to me. I didn't find the characters interesting, nor did they make sense in many moments.
Some characteristics of the characters seemed too exaggerated to me and I understand that they wanted to show that it was a dark retelling, but it was too much.
If I read "darling" one more time I'm going to break something.
It definitely wasn't for me.
Thanks Evelyn Montgomery for the ARC I read on Netgalley.

Wow. I love retellings. This was dark romantic spicy. The love the hate the time apart the story line. So good.

~ Dark Retelling of Peter Pan and Wendy's story
~ Multiple POVs
~ Time jumps
~ first love
~ "Touch her and I'll kill you"
"Losing Neverland isn't the end. It's only the beginning." - Hook
"Losing Neverland" is not the first Peter Pan retelling I have read and unfortunately it is not my favorite either. The entire premise of the book was that Peter and Wendy gave up their innocence to one another and it turned into a rage-filled obsession. I can't say that I did not enjoy the entire book because I did like it, but I struggled to stay interested because of the constant time jumps. Almost every chapter flipped back and forth from the present to Peter and Wendy's first years together (which was a 17-22 years prior). In doing so, I felt as though it dragged out the book to feel longer than it needed to be and it got annoying. I did like that in the beginning it almost felt like a Hook origin story which was an interesting new twist that I have not read about yet, but the storyline did not stay like that for long.
As for the characters themselves, Peter was extremely obsessive over Wendy and refused to grow up for 90% of the book and then he suddenly decided that if it was what Wendy wanted then he would??? It was sort of confusing. Anyway, I resonated a lot with Wendy because she had that older sibling mentality of wanting to live in a magical world but also realized early on that she needed to grow up and be an adult.
Quotes that I liked:
"She's only ever known me as a boy. Never a man. Never as Hook. A captain. A king. The person she fell in love with once was only a boy. Peter f--king pan. The boy she knew is dead" - Hook
"Having her here began with very crooked intentions. The longer she's stayed, the more I've found the need, the desire, growing inside me to ruin her. Just for me. The way I ruined her that day at Skull Rock" - Peter
"Everything was right in Neverland until she came along. Until she bewitched the only boy I'd ever loved" - Tinker Bell
Big Thanks to Evelyn Montgomery and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this work in exchange for an honest review! <3

This book was... meh. Honestly, I pushed through about 75% of it and was just simply bored. I friend of mine once mentioned in a review that all the book did was check boxes... and that's how I feel about this book. Boxes checked:
[x] One Bed
[x] Touch Her and Die
[x] Who Did This To You?
[x] Virgin MMC
[x] Virgin FMC
Let's also not forget the blatant "Hands on the headboard" rip from SJM. Iykyk.
This was also labeled as a Dark Romance but... I didn't find anything dark about it. Maybe my standards are too high when it comes to that since I read stuff like Haunting Adeline and Lauren Biel, but this just didn't feel dark at all. Was it because the MMC, Peter, was meant to be villainous? Because we didn't have that... He didn't feel like a villain. We never saw villainous behavior, not really.
The main characters lacked total chemistry. I never felt any kind of love for them, or their connection. The MMC, Peter/Hook, was inconsistent as hell, which may have been part of the character, but it could have been done much better, in my opinion.
There were also a quite a few grammatical errors. The "twist" was obvious since the beginning of the book (I have a note in my Kindle calling it out at the very beginning, then a follow up note in my Kindle saying "Told you so". Lol)
Overall, I felt that this book was pretty repetitive, and the spice didn't really make up for it. The spice here is pretty low on my spice-o-meter, maybe two peppers? 2 stars and a yawn from me.

This is a dark Peter Pan retelling and that's all I knew about this book going into it. I am glad I did because I loved every minute of it, It was Dual POV as well as Dual Timeline, jumping between Peter and Wendy meeting as children and Hook and Wendy reuniting as adults. The book has since been rewritten with an extended ending and more content and I can't wait to read the new version because that ending left my poor heart in shambles. I am looking forward to seeing what the author has added to their story!

Overall I liked this book. The way the plot went back and forth through time showing the growth and changes of the characters and how their relationship developed was really interesting. The spice was fantastic however I personally wasn't a fan of their being spicy smut scenes set when the characters were underage, there is a warning at the front of the book so I did expect it but I would've personally preferred that those scenes not be written as graphically. Other than that I thought it was a great dark romance retelling of the Peter Pan story.

I like many others love retellings of book the story of Peter Pan and Wendy being my favorite, so I was so excited when I got sent a copy of this to read for my honest review. Peter Pan And hook are the same person. Peter had always been in love with Wendy but heโs also loves neverland and doesnโt want to grow up. Heโs mad and vengeful towards Wendy because she left and he wants back something he thinks she took. Wendy has always loved Peter but he refuses to grow up and see the truth. This book is filled with suspense, darkness, jealousy, revenge, love and spice. It will have you on the edge of your seat wondering whatโs going to happen next. You get to experience multiple point of views and you get to view both their past lives and present (PLEASE READ TRIGGER WARNINGS)!! This is not like the fairytale we grew up watching and loving but one you will come to love as an adult I do wish the ending didnโt feel as rushed but I loved it all the same ๐#netgalley

Thank you NetGalley and author Evelyn Montgomery for the copy of the book in exchange of my honest review.
"All is not as it seems in Neverland.
As for Peter & Hook,
well I know the secret most donโt.
The real truth behind the myth.
The hidden wonder youโve never known
disguised as the notorious legend.
I know the nightmare that brings
Hook to his knees.
The concealed facts which bring out
nothing but his ruthless darkness.
I know the inescapable reality that one day
changed Peter Pan forever.
I witnessed Peterโs inevitable fall from grace.
His loss of innocence.
A destiny he one day couldnโt fly away from.
All youโve ever been told is a lie.
A hoax.
A pixie trick.
I know the truth because - Iโm their ruin.
Iโm their demise.
Iโm the end of what was &
the beginning of whatโs to come.
My name is Wendy Moira Angela Darling.
Iโm the inescapable fate they couldnโt defeat.
The chosen one who inevitably forces
their surrender.
And Iโm the reason for losing Neverland."
I love the characters and the story. I enjoy reading this.
