I really wanted to like this book. The title was intriguing, the cover was attractive, and the description sounded like a great read, however; I just could not get into it. It's not often that I don't finish a book - even if I am not liking a book, I will still stick it out - but I just couldn't with this one.. I read 20% of the book and then I decided I couldn't go forward anymore, for a few reasons:

1. I don't feel like the author properly introduced the characters. By the 12th chapter, there were a lot of characters mentioned but really hard to keep track of.

2. The author mentioned that the main character was a woman of color and bashed men a lot in this book. I am all for describing characters but it was repeated so much. And, the hate for men was a bit much. The topic of the book is solving murders, not berating men. It was off-putting. In just the 20% I read, it was repeated a lot.

3. The storyline had so much potential, I just feel the writing didn't give the storyline justice. Because I liked the story line (what was described in the section about the book) I rounded up to a 2 in rating.

Special agent Susan Parker is on a mission to find the elusive “clothesline serial killer.” As the plot unfolds, the serial killer changes his method of killing and targets Agent Susan Parker and the “billionaire murder club.” This twist was done to add suspense, but the execution landed short.
I was not overly impressed with this read, as it was a highly predictable tale of revenge and justice, and at times unrealistic.

I have several thoughts on this book - but overall I did enjoy this and ended up really liking it. However I did feel at times it was dragging and felt like I had a hard time figuring out why certain things were thrown in the story. It wasn’t the most suspenseful story and there weren’t any shockers revealed. I wouldn’t say it was predictable, but nothing stood out and there wasn’t any big reveal or ending to the story. It was left very open-ended to go into the next book. Personally, I would have preferred it to have been more of an ending. Overall, it was an enjoyable, easy read!

Special Agent Susan Parker and her team return for the second book in the series.
She finds out a little bit more about her own family situation and also her partner Naved.
They deal with a major crime that also had a difficult family relationship at its heart.
You dont have to have read the first book to enjoy this one. The cliff hanger at the end definitely leaves me hunger for book number three.

I went into this knowing nothing about SAC Susan Parker and left wanting the read the other books in her series.

There were some moments that were, cringeworthy, and at times it was hard to follow with the names and amount of characters. Especially those that were apart of Susan’s FBI team.

The only thing that really got me was how they didn’t find the red pick up truck sooner. Many times it is mentioned how small this city is and how it only takes minutes to get from one place to another. I know finding out who the killer is sooner in the book isn’t what’s wanted, but why not just take a few hours and drive around seeing if you can find that truck? Might just be me *shrugs*

This was a solid thriller and I’m excited to see what Susan Parker does next. 3.5/5

The description drew me in but then fell rather flat, mainly because I found that the main character was, well, just irritating. I get that she is a grieving widow, that her husband was murdered (unsolved case), that she is an FBI Agent woman of colour, has a huge chip on her shoulder and clearly hates anyone out of her comfort zone. I do not get that I have to be told these rather too often. She's on the case of a serial killer of young women although she's the only one convinced about the serial bit. This leads to a group of bizarre millionaires who are also investigating the killer having watched some of the incidents live. Somewhat predictable, partly solved at the end and, yes, there's the cliff hanger to draw me in to the next tale. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

Unfortunately despite high hopes from the synopsis this book fell flat for me. The plot was alright but not spectacular. The identity of the killer was quite easily guessable. The main character was fairly unlikeable. I love a strong female lead but not when they carry a chip as big as this one. I finished but doubt I’ll read any more from this author.

I read the first book in this series and really liked the unique storyline for that particular killer. Susan was an easy character to root for, and I really liked all the other characters as well. Those relationships are what made me so eager to pick this one up. I loved seeing where everything is going and how Susan and Naved are forming this wonderful friendship. The other thing I really liked is how diverse the cast is without seeming like the author was trying to fill some quota. In this book, we get to see a little more about Amit’s death and the inner working of Susan’s in-laws. Just like Susan suspected, they’re not as innocent as they would like to appear. Just how guilty they are, we still don’t know. But I have my suspicions, and I will honestly fall over if I’m right, because that would be crazy pants! All in all, a very entertaining story and I’m definitely looking forward to the next one!

Wow! I think this might be the most terrifying and delicious serial murder
story I have read. The continuation of our SAC / FBI leads us from more
bone chilling, buried deep in historical lies than one would likely find in
an entire series. Having discovered this new series has me keeping open
reading time after the wild ride of Susan and her family when
her connections and her talent leave her family in a terrible mess of
violence and destruction. I must be first in to read the next book just
to allow me to sleep at night. My thanks to Storm Publishing via

The Murder Club by Sam Baron is a gripping thriller. This is Book 2 in the Susan Parker series, but it can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading Book 1 to get familiar with the characters and why some things are discussed in this book.

FBI Agent Susan Parker’s fun afternoon with her daughter is interrupted when she’s called to the crime scene of a wealthy local man murdered in his home. As she delves into his life, she discovers the man belonged to an exclusive yet sinister Murder Club obsessed with the mysterious ‘Clothesline killer.’

Susan encounters some rich and powerful people who are not cooperating in the investigation, some friends, and many foes.

I really like Susan's daughter Natalie. She seems sweet and says cute things. Susan continues to be a strong character, determined to find the truth.

The culprit was a surprise. There is sort of a cliffhanger at the end. The main story wraps up, but Susan and her family are left in an obscure predicament. During this story, Susan's home life was invaded, her family was put at risk, and there were other things I won't mention so as not to spoil anything. Also, the mystery surrounding her husband Amit's death is still unresolved. What is going to happen? Will she finally find out what truly happened to Amit in the next installment? Let's hope so.

I would recommend this book and this author.

From the synopsis, I thought this book would've been a higher rating, but for me, it fell flat.

The FMC was a tad irritating at times and the plot was just a little bit predictable.

The story itself had good potential and did keep me interested, but I don't think the execution was great.

I was pretty certain the previous book ended with Naved calling Susan with information about Amit's death and expected this book to pick up there. That was the main reason I was interested in this book. But it was quite a ways into the book before we got to that and it didn't seem to occur in the same way I remembered it happening in the first book, so either I am remembering incorrectly a book I just read a week or two ago or that is a bit of a discrepancy. Anyway, second in the series about FBI Agent Susan Parker. This is about a bunch of billionaires who have been hunting a serial killer and then one of them is killed. I was pretty underwhelmed by this and don't think I will continue the series. If Amit's death had featured more, I might be more interested, but I just get the feeling that is going to drag out for like 10 books. 2 stars.

Okay I’m so torn and what to rate this book because I’m one Hand the story keep me turning but I’m the other hand the insufferable FMC and constant editing mistakes made me not want to finish reading it.

👎 - The FMC (she was the worst. It felt like every sentence she reminded us that she was. “Marginalized women of color” no joke and it was just annoying. She missed obvious plot lines in the beginning it took her 80 pages for what I had figured out in 20)

👎 - violent (there were times I wanted to dnf because the book got to violent)

I eagerly delved into his latest installment, only to find myself left dangling on the precipice of uncertainty. Sam Baron knows how to end a story with the biggest cliffhanger. Throughout the narrative, Susan remains an enigmatic figure, her character shrouded in layers of intrigue. This time around, the focus shifts predominantly to Susan's professional endeavors, relegating the dynamic between her and her family to the background. While the unresolved mystery of Amit's murder continues to linger, a new serial killer emerges, injecting a fresh dose of suspense into the plot. However, I couldn't help but feel that this book lacked the wow factor of Baron's previous works. Instead, it felt more like a filler episode, setting the stage for what promises to be a more substantial exploration of Susan's past and her burgeoning career in the next installment. As I eagerly await the next chapter in Susan's saga, I anticipate a deeper dive into the mystery surrounding her late husband's death and a more profound exploration of her professional pursuits.

This book will appeal to any crime junkies out there! Reading the first novel in the series is not required to enjoy it.

We start off in the perspective of a serial killer in the midst of committing his/her crime, which hooks you from the start. We even get a sense of their MO...why they are choosing to kill. We also get the sense that this serial killer is fully aware they are being watched and they welcome it.

Then we switch to the perspective of Susan Parker for the majority of the novel, a black woman FBI detective assigned to the crime.

Without disclosing too much, there's an interesting twist of the "dark underbelly of elites" that rule the world (think the 1%). And like I said, if you're a crime junkie, there are fun FYI's in there (terms used, typical process of processing evidence, etc.) that is fun to learn about.

The writing flows super smoothly, I devoured each chapter pretty rapidly, making it a fun and easy read with lots of twists and turns. A nice amount of cliffhangers to keep you coming back...definitely worth the read if you want a fun and twisty thriller!
