A concise and well-written guide to the "best" parts of Scotland. The design of the book is very approachable and useful to both planning a trip and to get some short insights that are fast and easy to find.
This is an excellent guide to Scotland, be it restaurants or tourist sites or accommodation then this is the book for you. I love the author's awareness of economy and money saving too. This is all you need to holiday there, be it on a shoestring or no holds barred splurge. Highly recommended to have in your luggage. Bravo Mr. Irvine
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of Scotland the Best.
This is a far better guide to visiting Scotland than any of the international brands.
I've grown up with an edition of it being around in people's houses - a guide to Scotland that contains enough novelty for a Scottish person to own one.
There are some lesser known attractions such as the Water of Leith pathways and the views from the top floor terrace of the Museum of Scotland which make it worth a buy.
I did find it skewed a little older. A guide to Glasgow should probably include Tantrum Doughnuts for the sugar-addicted Gen Z-er.
I also found it a shame there were less specialist sections than previously. Looking up a gay-friendly bar on the Internet can be overwhelming, whereas a guide like this can provide a useful starting point.
Overall, though, this is a genuinely good guidebook.
This is my new travel companion. We have travelled to Scotland five or six times a year for over forty years and there were still many things in this book new to us. I certainly will not be going North again without this book.
From eateries and pubs to the best bird-watching spots, this is a concise and informative guide to Scotland, a must for any traveller.
I read a guide about the SCottish Island by this author and this one was as good as that one
A guide that made me travel to gorgeous places and wish I was there.
Great pictures and information about the isles and relevant places.
Very useful and informative
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
