Really enjoyed this book. Anything that involves psychology, serial killers, and/or murder mystery is always going to immediately call my attention.
The book was well read, paced properly, and kept me guessing.

It was good. I think a bit on the lines of Freida McFadden. It wasn't the most appealing but a good read non the less.

The Therapist by S.A. Falk is a gripping psychological thriller that could easily be adapted into an intense episode of Criminal Minds. From the very first beginning the suspense pulls you in, and I didn't want to stop reading.

The story follows Dr. Fletcher, a forensic psychiatrist who returns to work at a state-run forensic psychiatric hospital after a leave of absence. She is immediately assigned to a new patient, Trent Davis, a man convicted of murdering six women. Trent is cold, calculating, and manipulative, making him both a fascinating and terrifying subject. Dr. Fletcher's attempts to understand his psyche and build a therapeutic relationship with him. She is perplexed by Trent's twisted mind and blurs the lines some.

Just as Dr. Fletcher begins to make progress, a new copycat murder occurs. Is Trent somehow involved from behind bars, or is there a new predator on the loose? As Dr. Fletcher works with the police to unravel the mystery the plot takes unexpected turns that will make you second guess yourself.

Without giving too much away, I have to say that the ending left me absolutely speechless.

It's so hard to review this book because I don't want to give anything away! I will say that it is worth your time. I loved it!

This book really kept me interested from the end, however quickly lost me when it became increasingly more unrealistic as it progressed. The main character went from being a therapist to whatever it was she became when she started working on solving the crime. I went ahead and finished the book to get a terribly rushed ending. I would skip this one. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.

It took me a while to get into the story line, and it did start picking up towards the end with a good twist!

I really really enjoyed this one. I had me gripped from start to finish. I found all the characters really interesting and I couldn't put it down. I love a book set in an institute and the police investigation fed into the story really well. I would never in a million years have seen the ending coming and was left wanting more.
I hope there is another book to follow

S.A Falk always delivers a twisty forensic psychology read. Super easy and quick reads that I usually use as a palate cleanser after heavy books.
It did feel like this one could have been a little longer so we could get more of a follow up after the killer was unmasked.
Overall a solid read.

I wanted to love this, but something about it just didn’t work for me. I loved the beginning but I found it somewhat boring during the middle and just waiting for it to be over. Stephanie Fletcher is a psychiatrist working at a state hospital treating the criminally insane. Trent Davis, a cannibalistic serial killer, is admitted to the hospital and assigned to Stephanie. Soon after Trent is admitted a series of copycat killings begin. None of the characters in this book were extremely likable and Stephanie was not a very interesting main character.

A great concept for a psychological thriller, but it didn’t quite work for me from the point of view of the psychologist and her behaviours… She needs a much stronger supervisor! Why would she not sign up with new suoervisor when her old one dies? Of course this is not real life but a thriller; never-the-less as a psychologist myself I found it too unrealistic and thus difficult to empathize with the protagonist. I received a copy of The Therapist by S.A. Falk from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was the first book I've read by S.A. Falk, and I would be interested in reading more by him. It was a very fast read and kept my interest throughout.

At 80% in, I figured out the twist, and boy, was it a good one! The main character, Stephanie, was someone you quickly liked and wanted to hear more about. Trent's serial killer perspective left the reader with many questions, but they were always explained in the story, which I appreciate. It's satisfying when all your questions have an answer. I hope to read more by S.A. Falk soon!

I loved the beginning of this mystery! I was hooked from page 1, but toward the middle, it felt a little like stagnant, then I didn't know how to describe my feeling about the book, until I read another review that put my feeling to words: "it felt unfinished." There were so many things that I would have liked to read, not just left to my imagination. Don't get me wrong, I love when at the end of the book, you review it all from a new perspective, but some conclusions need to be explicit.

It's a great premise with a lot of twist, and you should read it if you like psychological thrillers. But for me, I needed a little bit more.

Okay, so this book was really good. I was on the edge of my seat most of the time, and I thought the characters were so intriguing. Our main character works at a psychiatric hospital, and she starts treating serial killer Trent Davis. He was a musician in a band and got convicted because of murdering 6 people and drinking their blood. Very creepy!!

During the treatment, weird things start happening and it seems a copycat is trying to impress Trent. Suddenly, our main character is in danger, because the copycat seems to have it out for her as well.

At a certain point I guessed the plot. Kept on going because I still wanted to know what was going on and if I was right. I was. That being said, I purely guessed it based on another book that I’ve read that had the same kind of storyline and finale (where I in fact completely NOT guessed what was coming). I won’t say which book it was, but if you’ve read it, you’ll know.

Highly recommend! Loved this 🫶🏼

A very creepy story that has lead me to decide that I'll never see a therapist ever again. After this story, I literally trust no therapist. Good job, S. A. Falk, you've messed me uppp!

This is a dark, disturbing, gory thriller about a therapist who treats a serial killer. While he is locked away, a copycat killer emerges.

This is a darker thriller than most and after reading I felt like I needed to scrub my brain to think happy thoughts again. It involves talk of the devil and demons. This might be hard for some to read.

This book was dark, perhaps a bit too dark for me. The ending was so disappointing, so much so that I took a star off, Way too predictable.

A gripping story that I couldn't put down. Unpredictable and an intriguing page turner. I liked the duel POV's because this kept me guessing around what was going to unfold. I recommend this book to any thriller lovers. The pacing is really good and I liked the ending! Thank you for the chance to read this before publication.

I enjoyed this thriller overall, but I did kind of see the ending before it ended. I didn't like the ending. It was more ambiguous, and I just prefer there to be a real ending. I did like the characters, and found myself absorbed in what was happening. I found it entertaining enough to finish within a couple of hours, so it was definitely riveting.

I loved the premise of this book. A therapist who treats criminals and in this case a serial killer. But, if he’s locked up then who is doing all the killing the same way he did? It was dark and kept me on my toes as I played detective trying to figure it out. I love thrillers that make me think and this one definitely did. The twist at the end surprised me.
I did feel at times it was a slow read. But overall I enjoyed it and read it quickly. It was a 3 star for me. I do plan on reading this author again.
