Love & Lattes is the first book I have read written by Remy Sinclair. It was a cute little story.
The character development was good. It was fun to get to know Claire and Daniel.
The setting and storyline had the making of a hallmark movie. I loved the small town.
The romance between Claire and Daniel were closed door and perfect. The slow build as they worked through their own personal trauma.
The faith aspect was a little on the light side. I would have liked to have a little more.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. All opinions are my own.
A sweet and quick romance read. That's perfect for if you need a quick pick me up. I just don't think it's one that you would read more than once.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Claire and Daniel. Claire runs her family’s coffee shop. Daniel comes to town because he is deciding what to do. He is staying at his friend’s house. He goes to Claire’s coffee shop. He loves how friendly everyone is. The coffee shop is a community place, they help each other. There is an instant attraction. They start dating. They fall in love.
fun story set in a small town of claire and daniel. story is about what happens when two people work together toward one goal (a coffee shop) while dealing with their pasts.
i esp like the twists and turns of the story to keep it interesting. this faith based story of God's redeeming love is worth the read.
It was obvious from the first chapters that it is just badly written. Every little step and thought is described. It felt childish to have to read about the details of the environment Claire and David. It went on and on without much happening. It also didn’t help that the author used Claire’s full name to start a chapter after at least five chapters being with Claire. It was all being too easy and weird for me.
A cute hallmark esque book centered around a coffee shop, complete with a great cast of characters.
If you love descriptive writing you’ll love this book.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this story. I love novels that include coffee shops- I love how Claire and Daniel were intentional about that relationship.
This book was just okay. The writing style wasn't for me but the premise was lovely. I think it needs a bit more work.
I really liked this book! The descriptions make you feel like you're in the story. Loved seeing the relationship build!
Claire runs a coffee shop in her charming, quaint town. Daniel is a quirky artist. The two are unlikely lovers but nonetheless find each other and navigate the world of life and love (and lattes) together.
This book was unfortunately too wordy with awkward dialogue. I DNF’d around the 20% mark. The verbose chapters made it difficult to get interested in the story.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I want to express my gratitude to NetGalley and the author for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book. While I ultimately gave it a 3-star rating, which is considered average, it must be noted that my initial hesitation stemmed from the fact that the book was written in third person. Third person narratives are not usually my preferred style of writing, however, I found the descriptive elements of this book to be quite engaging.
As previous reviews have said, this book is verbose and overly descriptive. I think it could easily be shortened by ~50 pages just by taking out the repetitive descriptions and unnecessary details. I understand the idea of world building and wanting to immerse readers in a story, but I found myself drowning in the lengthy sentences about hair color and types of furniture upholstery.
That being said, I very much appreciated this book's Christian themes. The story is a cozy one and I truly think this book could be vastly improved with a little more editing. I will keep my eye out for more from this author.
I loved this book! Being from a small town myself, I loved the quirks seen within the book. The characters were wonderful and the writing was excellent!
DNF at 12%
I was skimming most of the pages so it was time to DNF. This book is remarkably badly written. Every single piece of the story is described. Every person, every blade of grass, it all sounds like a children's book. And most children's book are even better written. Nope, nope, nope, this is not the book for me, I'm going to go enjoy other ones.
Such a cute novel that will keep you drooling the whole way through!
Love, friendships and community will make you feel right at home in Willowbrook. I know it did me.
Claire's hospitality will make you keep coming back for the fellowship and lattes of course.
This was such a fun read. I enjoyed it to the fullest and I truly hated to say goodbye to my new friends.
It was quite a pleasure to see my church's name in this story as I go to one too!
This book is more relatable to me than I could have realized! How exciting!
I love foodie books and that's why I honestly chose this one. I sure wasn't disappointed at all!
I didn't really like how tye chapters were done though because to me, that is a dead giveaway on how the story may go. I think they should have been numbered but that's my opinion. Otherwise, I absolutely loved the book.
"I don't know, Claire... It's been years since I've stepped foot in a place of worship. I'm ashamed to say."
"It doesn't matter, Daniel. It's been a while for me too - what matters is that we're here together."
5 stars for this wonderful read and for this new to me author.
I highly recommend!
My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I enjoyed reading Love & Lattes by Remy Sinclair. You will fall in love with all the characters. I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and the publisher. This is my honest and personal review. Happy Reading!
This is a VERY sweet and wholesome story.
Think Hallmark movie + anything on the UP channel in book form. Are there cheesy moments? Absolutely but, it is cute as all heck. There is quite a twist as well that I was not expecting and was pretty impressive.
Appropriate for someone who wants clean/soft romance and a feel-good story and who is open to reading about faith and religion (not shoved in your face but visible).
This would be the perfect book for a church group book club.
The first two pages feel magical but I will say pages 1-13 are basically the same description repeated over and over. If you get through that the story does start, though!

Constructive critics / overall thoughts (not posted on GoodReads)
The first two pages felt magical. I loved the description and I could almost see/smell the town and coffee shop as it was described.
However, I am 13 pages in and it feels like the first two pages are being repeated over and over and over again.
While I don't think every man in a book needs to be masculine by any means, Daniel felt very femininely written. It felt clear that it was a female author writing a male character. Things like Daniel saying "that you for your kindness" , calling Claire "cute and all" or "this is beautiful" about latte art didn't seem like something authentic. Also, how many times can someone fall and/or get caught in the rain in the span of just a few pages? The clumsiness felt very played out at times and gave a little bit of an ick.
Having said that, I do feel like this is a very sweet and wholesome book. For a certain reader this would be a 5-star read!
I had to DNF at 20%. The overly descriptive writing style just was not for me. I saw a few other reviews saying they got use to it as they continued on, but it was just too much for me.
"Love & Lattes" is an exquisitely crafted tale that captivated me from start to finish. Remy has woven together a tapestry of emotions, romance, and self-discovery that left me utterly enchanted.
From the first page, I was drawn into the lives of Claire, Daniel, and their intertwined destinies. The author's vivid descriptions painted scenes so vividly that I felt as though I was right there beside the characters, experiencing every moment of their journey.
The depth of character development is truly remarkable. Claire and Daniel's struggles, triumphs, and ultimately their enduring love resonated deeply with me. Their journey of healing and rediscovery is beautifully portrayed, reminding us all of the power of forgiveness, hope, and the ability to find peace amidst life's trials.
Remy's prose is lyrical and evocative, transporting readers to the tranquil forests and cozy coffee shops of Willowbrook. The story unfolds with a perfect balance of heartwarming moments, poignant reflections, and unexpected twists, keeping me eagerly turning the pages until the very end.
"Love & Lattes" is not just a romance novel; it's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of love. It left me with a profound sense of warmth and contentment, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This book deserves every bit of its five-star rating and more.
This book is not for me. I had to DNF about 20% in. The descriptions and other details were just not giving me enough to hold me
