I started with the last book in a series, had a lot of fun, got the rest of the series. Excellent world building, a lot fun.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

The finale? Perhaps to the triad, Luc, Anders, and Curtis. Will they get their HEA? And if so what does that mean for a vampire, a demon, and a wizard? You have to read Triad Magic and see what happens. Love these stories. Another great book from ‘Nathan Burgoine.

This is the first book I’ve read by Mr Burgoine but it won’t be the last. There’s the clue that I haven’t read the first two books in this trilogy but I didn’t think it mattered. I quickly gathered what each of our three heroes (the triad) was capable of and how they fitted into the narrative.

The book is very well written and despite them being supernatural beings (vampires, demons etc), you really come to care for the main characters and want them to succeed. There are trips and falls as in all good plots and some genuine jeopardy and angst. I especially liked Curtis and his willingness to try and do the right thing while showing his vulnerabilities.

The plot involves the deaths of people with the gift of foresight and our intrepid gang are trying to establish a link between them other than their ‘power’ to work out who could be behind the killings while also trying to find a lost friend.

A well written, enjoyable book.

The power of three faces quite the challenge in this novel as 'Nathan Burgoine wraps up his Triad trilogy. Supernatural beings with the gift of prescience are turning up dead and Curtis, Luc, and Anders once again find themselves looking for answers. Only this time, the answers to the mystery push our trio to finally confront the ruling magical families of Ottawa directly.

The mystery element of the story at the beginning is solid, and I was quite impressed with how Burgoine managed to bring back plot threads from the previous novels and weave them into this finale - absolutely solid work. The ending and the trio's solution feels complete, not a cheat, and hard won. The interplay of the various supernatural factions, from vampires to demons and werewolves to witches and sorcerers, was fascinating. And even though there was quite a large cast of characters, they seemed a bit easier to follow in this installment as opposed to the last book.

But our main trio starred for me. Burgoine's characterizations of them was highly entertaining and intriguing, showing how each of them steps up to roles of leadership in the community all while navigating the increasingly complex relationship dynamics of their triad. This leads to one surprisingly funny conversation between the three that Curtis initiates - old school romantic monogamy this is not.

I realize that this is the last book in a trilogy but I'm hoping that Burgoine writes in this world again as it's an immensely fun one. Some one-off novellas, perhaps?

Luc, Anders, and Curtis have bound themselves together as a triad, strengthening each of their individual abilities. It has made the three of them incredibly powerful as a vampire, demon, and wizard respectively. The bond has also given the three men an incredibly close emotional connection and they care about one another deeply. But for Curtis, his interest in Luc and Anders has grown to something more, and he is hoping that the men may share his feelings. With so much uncertainty among them, it is leading to some stress and tension, as the men work through their relationship issues and figure out what is next for them.

However, the personal side needs to take a back seat when one of of Curtis’ wizard friends goes missing — and the man he was with most recently turns up dead. Strangely, the dead man was clearly murdered, despite having the gift of prescience. No one can understand how someone who can see the future would not be aware that they are at risk, or how a highly skilled wizard could have been so vulnerable to attack.

Even as the men focus on investigating one murder, more people turn up dead, all with the ability to see the future. But the murders aren’t the only danger. There are mysterious thefts, a group of new demons in town, and secrets among the magical Families. As Luc, Anders, and Curtis continue to investigate who is behind it all, it soon becomes clear there is something much more dangerous happening than even they realized. Now, it will take all the men have to stop the plot before the entire supernatural world is thrown into chaos.

Triad Magic is the third book in ‘Nathan Burgoine’s fabulous Triad Blood series, focusing on this unlikely trio of vampire, demon, and wizard. Normally, supernatural beings only form groups among their own kind, but Luc, Anders, and Curtis have a unique bond that has made them increasingly powerful (and often threatened by others). Each book in the trilogy focuses on a different threat, but the books do have many overarching themes and characters. The first two books came out in 2016 and 2017, so it has been a big time jump since I read them. I did go back to reread my reviews, as well as skim through my notes and key parts of the story. Even so, there were times where I did feel like I was missing details, as characters and events were referenced that I didn’t remember. So my advice is to start with the first book, Triad Blood, and read them straight through. These books are so good, it is definitely worth reading all three.

Burgoine has put some wonderful world building into this series, developing the vampires, wizards, and demons. We once again get a suspenseful adventure, as the three men must navigate a supernatural threat. In this case, it is the murders of paranormals with the ability to see into the future. Things get nicely twisty and exciting as we follow along and figure out who is behind it all and why. This story has a key focus on the wizards led by the five main Families, so we get a chance to really delve into them here. The mystery gives each of the three MCs a chance to shine, as they all work their leads to figure out what is going on. I find this world Burgoine has created to be so interesting and the author uses it to great effect here. The mystery is exciting and comes together in a thrilling conclusion.

On the personal front, things start out tense for the men. Curtis has shared his feelings and asked to know Anders and Luc’s in return, which throws things off for them for a while as they work through it all. The guys are separated quite a bit early on, both for personal reasons and for plot ones. But they come together in the end, not just to work through the mystery, but also to sort out their relationship as well. I did wish for more of them all happily together here in this last book. However, we get a really happy ending for the men and things round out really nicely on the personal front.

This last story in the trilogy caps off this journey so well. I have loved these books and particularly the unique triad bond among the men. If you are a fan of urban fantasy stories, I think this series is not to be missed.

This is the third book in the Triad Blood Trilogy after Triad Blood (2016) and Triad Soul (2017). Unfortunately, if you haven’t read the first two books, this book will make very little sense to you. Even if you read the first two books, Burgoine does nothing to remind readers who the characters are and their relationship to other characters. Indeed, Burgoine has a plethora of characters and all of them seemingly appear in the first chapters and are unknowable to a new reader. Readers may feel like this book began at the mid-way point in the story because there is no way of knowing any of the characters and they remain amorphous because he failed to re-introduce them. If the author thought his readers would remember his characters from books published seven or eight years ago, he is sadly mistaken.

I did not finish this book - one of only a very few I haven’t finished - because I became tired of trying to figure out who was who and, in reality, what the storyline was. I gave this book a three-star rating because I gave the author one star for having written the book, a second star for having found a publisher for it, and a third star because I started reading it.

My thanks to Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley for an eARC.

This turned out to be a surprisingly good read for me, the characters were well written and the story was just fast paced enough for me to enjoy it without being overwhelmed by too much going on

Excellent book. Great read despite me not paying attention to it being the third in the series. But the callbacks were helpful and made me feel like I wasn't missing anything. The book read like a well written standalone book. I was unable to guess what was going to happen at every turn. I am always ruining the plot for myself in books this way, so I was pleased to be unable to do so. Love the poly relationship and myriad diverse characters in the book. Loved the open communication between Curtis, Anders, and Luc. I have written a more in-depth review which I have already posted on goodreads and at B&N, Amazon would not let me review. Thanks for the free book, had a blast reading it. Feel free to send me more any time. 😁
