Thank you NetGalley for this book! I absolutely loved this book, I completely forgot about the real world whilst I was reading this book. The Love Algorithm is a perfect book when you're looking for a light-hearted book to enjoy. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed every minute of reading this book. The two main characters perfectly matched eachothers personality which we don't see much of anymore in romance books anymore. However, Camilla Isley has portrayed these characters and the storyline so well. This has just become one of my favourite books.
At 28, with a Ph.D under her belt and a meteoric rise to head of Research and Development at Mercer Robotics, Reese feels her decision to put her career first has worked out pretty well for her. Sure, she doesn’t have many personal relationships to speak of, but she does love her team and they like her too. So when she’s called to the Big Boss’s office and told she will be looking after his son while he does a rotation in her lab, she’s not thrilled that her hard work and achievements have boiled down to being a glorified babysitter – especially to a billionaire playboy with zero experience of mechanical engineering.
But then tall, blond Thomas walks into her office, and Reese realizes this assignment is going to be even harder than she thought. Because the CEO’s son is not only extraordinarily gorgeous, chiseled, and charming… he’s also on course to become her new boss one day, and so extraordinarily out of bounds. As the pair get to know each other, can Reese hold her nerve and her beliefs, or will she fall victim to the billionaire charm?
Camilla Isley pulls off another great read! The Love Algorithm started out a little slow for me, but quickly turned into a fun, light-hearted read. It was fairly predictable, but still a very enjoyable read! I love a book that highlights women in STEM, the droid was adorable, and having the gender role-reversal was a hoot! Bonus for Rome. ❤️❤️
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!
The Love Algorithm by Camilla Isley is a fun, easy going, lighthearted read. Dr. Reese Campbell is a leader in her R&D robotics role and Thomas is the son of her employer. She is asked to teach him about her division and current projects for a 3-month period. Reese is a very straightforward, logical, highly intelligent engineer and Thomas isn’t. However, there is very strong chemistry between them, and it leads to a bit of instalove once they figure out how to overcome the no fraternization policy of their employer. I liked Reese and Thomas together. Isley did a great job making a fun story and was certainly creative with the sassy droid sidekick, K-2P. Several tropes are covered here: office romance, billionaire romance, forced proximity, a little of “enemies to lovers” and “forbidden romance.” The Love Algorithm is Book 3 in Isley’s True Love series and we do see some characters from books 1 and 2. While TLA can be read as a stand alone story, it can be helpful to have read the other books first but it is not critical at all.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC for an honest review.
The plot is solid, if a bit predictable. However, Camilla did a great job of moving the plot along while keeping the reader interested in the story.
While not all of the threads are tied up at the end, I am sure that they will feature in the next books in the series. Additionally, I loved the addition of the sassy droid, he had human dialogue and mannerisms that helped moved the plot of the story along.
A definite recommendation for fans of Women in STEM romances!
Quick, easy and funny read. I love books with women in STEM and this did not disappoint. The best part of the entire book, even with two great mains, was the droid sidekick. He is one of the most lovable and sarcastic characters I’ve read in a long time!
Think ‘Love Hypothesis’ combined with ‘The Fine Print’. This book had a little bit of everything! Workplace romance, women in STEM, only one bed.. very much enjoyed this cute romance and the hilarious sassy robot was my personal favourite!
What a cute, feel good romantic comedy. I cannot get enough books about women in stem! I especially loved the robot character. It takes a talented author to make a robot as likable as him! There were a few classic tropes in this book (authority imbalance, forced proximity) but they were well done, for the most part. If it weren't for the ending, this book would have been a 5 star book for me. I didn't appreciate the engagement at someone else's wedding. It's tacky, and I don't believe every romantic book absolutely has to end in a conclusion as 'neat and pretty' as marriage. Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a decent, light-hearted read. Charming and cozy, but not my type of book.
I’m not a fan of insta-love in contemporary romance. I also found Thomas almost… too polite, confident, and diplomatic?? That’s probably a crazy thing to say. This is marketed as an enemies-to-lovers pairing, and unfortunately, this is just not. There’s trepidation from Reese in the beginning of their interactions, but just nothing close to what I consider proper enemies-to-lovers (a hard trope for contemporary anyways). Most of the conflict was used purely for plot movement, which is fine, but it didn’t really sit well with me since some of the conflict was related to workplace harassment???
In terms of commitment, I would say this is a very low-commitment book. You can pick up and put down and it’s easy to get back into the flow of the story. Fun, light-hearted, and comfortable to read but not really containing anything that would compel me to read the rest of the series.
I loved this book! I’m currently taking physics in my journey to pharmacy school and I love the fmc being a STEM genius! The author did a great job making her sound like such a smart woman and I absolutely loved that! The little blue love notes were my favorite aspect of the romance between the characters, they gave me actual flutters! I predicted that Thomas would tag along to Rome as soon as we found out she was going, and it turned out so good. I like my romance books a little more spicy than this, so my only issue was the spicy parts were mentioned and then skipped entirely. I think the term is “closed door”, the writing kept me engaged the whole way through, and the book was the perfect length for me.
This was a cute story. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. The Love Algorithm is about Reese, the head of Research and Development for a robotics company and Thomas the CEO's son. Their connection builds as they work together, but the their positions in the company prevent them from being in a relationship.
I liked both characters and really enjoyed the STEM components in the story. The robot K-2P created by Reese was a really cute addition to the story and I liked the connection between the robot and Thomas. Overall, this was a light-hearted, feel good, office romance.
Thank you to NetGally and Boldwood Books for the ARC!
28 year old PhD and head of department Reese is tasked with having her company's "golden boy" heir shadow her to learn more of the technical side of the company; Thomas is the son of the parent company's CEO and NOT an engineer. She's already dreading the assignment - and then in walks Thomas in all his golden glory and her task becomes all the more difficult between the circumstances (her performing an unintentional strip tease for him) and her immediate attraction to him. Thomas works to break down her barriers, but the duo face the problem of the company's fraternization policy.
I loved this book - Thomas is a cinnamon roll MMC who knew people discounted him because of his status as the CEO's son and his lack of technical knowledge, but he worked hard to combat that and didn't "rise to the bait" when people called him out on it. The author did a great job of bringing the very real issues women - especially women in tech - face, such as lack of respect or subordinates who only view them as a potential romantic partner, as well as the disproportionate toll an office-place romance can take on their careers and reputations. And I absolutely adored the post-it notes. About the only thing I didn't like was that Garrett wasn't reprimanded or punished for his utter lack of professionalism and disrespect towards Reese (but let's be honest - that's mostly what happens in real life...) Overall this book was really enjoyable and gave all the stomach butterflies!
Thank you to the author and publisher for approving my Netgalley request!
The first thing that drew my to The Love Algorithm by Camilla Isley is the cover and science-y name that instantly reminded me of an Ali Hazelwood novel. I love fun, witty, RomComs that features female MCs in science based careers, and The Love Algorithm didn't disappoint.
We follow Dr. Reese Campbell, head of the robotics department at Mercer Robotics, as she puts her career first and her personal life...well, never. With an amazing staff, a fast tracked career that she worked her butt off for, and a hilarious robot bestie that she designed, what else could she need?? She certainly has no time for love... or babysitting millionaire playboys with a silver spoon in their mouth!
Thomas Mercer, son of the owner of Mercer Robotics, has just been forced onto the path of CEO. His father, with retirement on the horizon, would like Thomas to take over. He sets Thomas up to "intern" in every department so he can gain experience over the next 15 months before he takes over. First stop, Research and Development, with Dr. Campbell.
Upon meeting, the physical attraction between Reese and Thomas is palpable, and soon Reese determines that her initial "diagnosis"of Millionaire Playboy isn't exactly accurate.

Who loves a good enemies to lovers book
then you've come to the right place
This book is the perfect definition of perfection
This is the third book in the True Love series and focuses on Gabriel's (from book one) brother, Thomas and Reese, a robotics engineer that works for Mercer Robotics - Thomas's dad's company. One that he is being groomed to take over one day and this is going to start by Thomas taking over as head of the Robotics department when the current boss retires in about 18 months time, but until then, Thomas is going to be spending a few months in each department to get to grips with what everyone is working on.
His first department to learn is headed up by Reese. She's an engineering genius and doesn't take herself too seriously at all. Thomas falls in love with her at first site, and while Reese is attracted to him as well she's well aware of the company policies that prevent employees from dating so she won't even consider going there.
But as the two of them spend more time together, flirting and getting to know one another, it becomes much harder for them both to ignore what is happening between them. Then Thomas invites himself along to a conference in Rome that Reese is attending and presenting at, he thinks the romance of the city and finally getting some alone time together will help push things along. While they're both able to admit they have feelings for each other and want to explore it, Reese is still reluctant because Thomas will one day be her boss.
Soon after returning from Rome, things come to a head and Thomas ends up quitting his job at the company and starts his own toy company which he brings Reese into as a partner.
I enjoyed this story more than the previous two in the series and I like that Thomas was smitten with Reese from the start and was not at all ashamed to show that to the people around him. The story could be a bit faster paced but it didn't take as long for them to get together as it has for the couples in the previous books.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Such a fun read! I loved the main characters, especially Reese…got to love a strong, intelligent and successful woman in a male dominated world such as robotics! I also loved that Thomas wasn’t your typical arrogant womanising billionaire and I really grew to like him. My favourite character had to be the robot though…the sassy attitude and quick comebacks made me giggle! It was great to see old characters from other books in the series make appearances as well. If you’re looking for a feel good, easy read romance then look no further!
I feel bad giving a 1-star rating to a book I requested, but this was sadly not for me. Given the title, the cover design and the fact this is a STEM romance, they're obviously going for an Ali Hazelwood vibe and so I was expecting something along those lines but this nothing like Hazelwood's books.
It tries to be, sure, but it fails.
An office romance will only work for me if both main characters at least try to act professional throughout, but this includes an (involuntary) office striptease and a (voluntary) sex session that leads to a sex tape being made. You can see where I'd have trouble taking these people seriously.
It's lust at first sight between Reese and Thomas, but despite this she politely asks him to back off given that he's set to be the future CEO of the company and so will be her boss one day (fair request, and this was back at the beginning when I thought the book had potential). Thomas completely ignores this request and continues to flirt with her and basically stalk her, as he goes along on an overseas work trip without being invited.
That's not a romance, that's sexual harassment.
I was doubly excited about this book because the FMC is the head of R&D in a robotics and automation company, and I also work in automation and robotics. But besides K-2P, her personal robot, there is nothing much of interest in that field being shown.
There's no depth to the story or to any of the characters. It's the final book in a series, and the characters from those previous romances show up but I don't feel the urge to pick up book 1 and 2.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this digital ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Love Algorithm is the 3rd book in the True Love Series, and in my opinion, the best one.
Reese Campbell, an intelligent 28-year-old is the head of R&D at Mercer Robotics. One day she is called in by her Big Boss and is told she will be basically babysitting her boss's son, Thomas Mercer, as he does rotations within the company.
Considering I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, I was a bit sceptical when reading this. However, this book changed the way I view Camilla Isley's writing. Her characters were fun, and I did not want to put the book down.
As a woman in STEM, this book did not make me cringe excessively like other STEM romances do, which is a huge win!
K-2P is an icon and now I want a sassy droid.
So, despite me raving on about how I liked this book, why is it not a 5-star read?
* The extreme level of objectification towards Thomas from Maria (lets reverse their genders, doesn't look so good)
* The unnecessary conflict in the last bit of the book and third act breakup
* They really jumped straight into the feelings

Reese Campbell is head of R&D of the robotics department at Mercer Robotics. She's intelligent, driven, and follows rules to a tee. In comes Thomas Mercer, son of the CEO and poised to be the next head of the robotics division. Reese is forced to babysit Thomas as he rotates through her department. They have an instant spark and connection, but due to the company's anti-fraternization policy, Reese resists all of Thomas's attempts...but how long can she hold out?
I'm a sucker for a good STEM romance novel and Camilla Isley did a great job with this one! This was a fun enemies to lovers RomCom. It was an easy read and my favorite character was definitely the droid, K2-P. If you're a fan of Ali Hazelwood's STEM romances, you'll be a fan of this one too!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with the ARC of this book.

This is an enjoyable end to the trilogy. Love the characters and the ending.
Impossible to resist, impossible to predict, impossible to put down . . .
A sparkling holiday read. Cosy, comforting and liberally sprinkled with magic, it’s absolutely delicious!
