3.5 Stars (rounding up for K-2P)

One Liner: Light read with a few niggles

Reese has a PhD at 28 and is the youngest head of Research and Development at Mercer Robotics. She knows what she wants from her career and is happy doing a job she loves rather than competing for promotions. A call from the Big Boss makes her wonder what it could be. However, Reese is annoyed that she has been saddled to babysit the Boss’s son, a billionaire with no idea about engineering or robotics.
Yet, she cannot ignore the sparks between them. But to make a move would affect her job and her career. The more they get to each other, the more intense the chemistry. Can Reese hold on to the boundaries, or will things spiral into something else?
The story comes in Reese and Thomas’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts:
I WANT K-2P! Send me that sassy little droid, and I promise to rate all your books 5 stars. Can you imagine a little AI robot that’s so much more human than some humans? That’s K-2P, the adorable cutie robot with all human emotions and more. Blend the personalities of a dog, a cat, and a kid, and you get K-2P.
Okay… I also need to talk about the book, so here it goes.
The dual POV shows both their backstories and internal thoughts, which makes the characters more relatable. Getting only Reese’s POV here would have put Thomas in a bad light. Thankfully, we know his feelings even before she does.
I wanted a lighthearted and fluffy romance, so this book worked well. It does touch upon a few themes like parental abandonment, insecurity, workplace gender bias, etc. However, the overall tone doesn’t get heavy.
The banter is fun to read. There’s quite a lot of technical stuff, too, but can’t have a STEM book without it. Not an issue since even Thomas has no idea when Reese explains. ;)
There was some conflict in the last quarter but is resolved quite easily. Not complaining much as it suited my mood. However, I do think the whole episode should have been better structured. I don’t particularly like it when a character does something that doesn’t align with their basic arc.
A few niggles I wish were better –
• Maria objectifies Thomas (a little is okay, but shouldn’t cross the line); imagine if Thomas did that to her
• No reason for the ex to appear (it would have been better if the lead couple found another way to talk about their past)
• Way too much focus on physical attraction despite both characters showing enough promise as good people
• Given that Garrett is acting off, wouldn’t it have helped to make him a villain in the scandal instead of letting Reese act so out of character?
Oh, there are some Star Wars (movies) references as well. Went over my head, but those who know might enjoy it more.

To summarize, The Love Algorithm is a light and fluffy closed-door romance with the cutest droid ever! It’s a short book and can be read in a sitting or two. This is a standalone, though characters from another book are present.
Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books, for eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

I just love romance novels in an academic setting so it came in with no surprise that I found this book to be amazing!
I liked the writing style and felt an instant connection to the characters. The plot wasn't very surprising but I didn't mind it in this cute book!

if you're looking for a stem girlie x boy obsessed x office workplace romance x forced proximity, this is just the book to pick up! i love me some light-hearted, easy to binge with a carefree spirit books from time to time and this is just one of them 💌🌷🧷🧸

reese is an amazing, highly accomplished woman who has strived her journey to being the head of the robotics department. she's inspiring on so many levels and is a humble character who is obsessed with star wars(i mean who isn't),i love her sense of humor throughout the book and her anxious self is making me feel called out. she's one of us girlies.

thomas "in the world of boy's he's a gentleman" - this might just be the perfect line to describe him. he's somewhat of a fever dream, a billionaire who is kind and respectful???!! this is shocking news to me. i love that he was polite to all the colleagues, and hat's off to his mother. i love his relationship w/ his brother garret and blake, to say i was charmed is an understatement in itself.

i simply love the side characters. what made this book a 3 star for me?? i solely think the main reason might be k-2p, he was so girly pop coded. i love this robot i dare say i read this book further for this robot he was such a fun and interactive character. he knew the right words at the right time. help i think i'm in love with a robot😳

i love the cute blue notes they send each other and the star wars jokes. pls the notes were 👏perfect👏 also the trip to rome like the one bed trope, the cuddles, the tension, the speech and how he coddled her i mean i simply adore reese and thomas.

so what made this book a non 5- star for me???
➷ insant love is a trope i don't quite like often
➷ the unresolved issue with garett like what happened???
➷ also like maria's only statements in the book being objectifying thomas😭
➷ what happened with the BTS competitions robot thingy???
➷ the third act breakup like bleh bleh bleh
➷ such a long book for characters not getting any character development like we get it you can't get together

thank you, netGalley & the publisher, for approving me to read this arc and write this review with honesty.

My usual genre is crime fiction but occasionally I like to read books like this just for a break, this one had some moments that made me cringe but a lot more that were funny. I’m glad that Reese didn’t lose her personality once Thomas appeared in her office.. I got this as an arc to read and the opinions expressed are entirely my own and are completely unbiased.

The Love Algorithm was a super cute, nerdy workplace romcom! I really enjoyed the dynamics between our MCs, a swoon worthy and down to earth billionaire, and a creative robotics genius. I love a strong female character in STEM and that is absolutely what we got! I can’t forget about the sassy droid K-2P that added a lot of fun and snark to the story. There was tension (that gave me the feels), Star Wars puns, nerdy jokes, forced proximity, one bed trope, and lots more!

I will say I am not a robotics genius myself, so a lot of the language around robotics when straight over my head, but I was still able to enjoy the story.

I also thought it was interesting that any time there was a swear word they used cutesy words rather than the swearwords themselves. It made it feel a little bit silly in my opinion.

Thank you go NetGalley, Camilla Isley and Blodwood Books for this ARC!

I could have spent this time reading something else. This was cheesy and a typical romance. Setting was cute. We love a woman in STEM. Garrett needed to catch some hands. Predictable and kinda dragged on. I do think this could have been cut down. Closed door romance- bummer. Very disappointing.

Part of an interconnected series. I haven’t read any of the others but could tell the other couples in this were main characters of other books. Didn’t miss out on anything though.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this digital ARC.

LOVED it 10/10 I love a good women in STEM romance and this did not disappoint. Steamy billionaire CEO ready to take over daddy's company meets the brilliant robot engineering genius. What I love about Camilla Isley is that you get enough steamy spice in a tasteful romantic way while still enjoying a really good book. Loved the last chapter hinted to new friends and new stories I can't wait to read now.

I was honored to recieve this ARC for my honest review.

This was a cute romance that I breezed right through! Time flies when you’re having fun lol. This was my first Camilla Isley book and I will for sure be reading more of her stories. This one focuses on Reese, a genius robotics expert who gets tasked with showing her boss’s son around since he is set to become her new boss. It has the classic work place boss/employee romance vibes with the added details of the FMC being a genius and MMC being a billionaire (love that for both of them tbh). I personally loved the droid K-2P and thought that was a fun twist in the story lol. Also a big fan of the Star Wars references. As someone who didn’t read the first two books in this series, you can totally read this one and not the others first, although I probably will check those out too now! Also as an extra note, it’s low on the spice scale but still big on the romance!

This was so cute. I loved the chemistry between the characters. The slow burn romance. The constant banter. I truly enjoyed the main character being a strong woman in science, paired to teach a wealthy businessman. Was it predictable? yes. Was it similar to many other books I have read? Also, Yes. Did this stop it from being a unique, adorable, fun read? Absolutely, not. I am so glad that I read this. It was quick, fun and just adorable.

Thank you Netgalley for my advanced reader copy.

4.25 stars. This was such a fun book. It made me giggle and swoon. As an engineer who's just finished a PhD I loved the STEM setting and all the scientific aspects. One of my favourite bits was her sarcastic droid friend just commenting along the way. I love a good billionaire romance and it mixed with engineering was great. If you are looking for a fun easy cute read this is a good one.

I received this as an ARC through Netgalley.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC of The Love Algorithm in exchange for an honest and independent review.

Reese is only 28 years old and at the top of her game as the head of Research and Development at Mercer Robotics. Her career brings her genuine enjoyment and her team (as well as her hilarious best friend droid) is pretty great to boot. She has zero desire to climb the cooperate ladder and is beyond content with the career she has built for herself, even if this means her romantic prospects are pretty thin in the world of robotics.

Two years into her role, Reese is approached by a head of Mercer Robotics, Nolan Mercer, with a proposition for her. Knowing Reese has no desire to move up within the organization, when her boss announces his retirement, Nolan needs to find a replacement for him quickly. Look for further than his son, Thomas Mercer (the current comms and marketing executive for Mercer Robotics). What business does a marketing exec have overseeing the R & D of a robotics team you ask? Reese's answer: absolutely none. Nolan agrees, so he asks Reese to be his mentor as he shadows into the department for the next 15 months, 3 of which will be spent with her personally. Reese wants no part of being a glorified babysitter, but if it can help her gain her future bosses favor and maybe a couple asks for her department, she'll do it.

The day Thomas Mercer barges into Reese's office is the day Reese realizes she's waaay over her head in this mission. Stunningly handsome with blazing eyes and perfect hair, Reese starts to feel herself unravel in his presence. Because Mercer Robotics has a strict no fraternizing policy, Reese swears off Thomas's advances, against her deepest wishes. Both Reese and Thomas will spend the next several weeks determining if love is worth the potential sacrifice they may have to make in order to be together.

I genuinely really enjoy women's STEM romance novels and this one is no exception and quite honestly maybe one of my top two favorites. Both characters of Reese and Thomas are so loveable and all you can do is root for them. If you're looking for spice, this definitely isn't it. But if you're looking for a feel good love story to sweep you off your feet, this is it! Run out and grab this on on April 26th!

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

🤖 The Love Algorithm by @camillaisley 🤖

⭐⭐⭐⭐

TROPES
🔹 Workplace Romance
🔹 Billionaire Romance
🔹 STEM Romance
🔹 One Bed
🔹 Dual POV

I have enjoyed Camilla Isley’s previous STEM-centric romance stories, so this was a no-brainer to read. This time, I get to follow Reese, the head of a research and development team in robotics, and Thomas, an MBA-clad suit that he going to take over as CEO of the company because his father says so.

This was one of those instances where a billionaire romance worked for me. Thomas is incredibly down to earth, which makes the story hit differently than other billionaire romances I’ve read. He also has a genuine interest in learning about the company he’s taking over, and putting in the effort, which is part of why I root for him and Reese. His understanding father feels like a bit of a stretch, but it gives them a happy ending, so I love it.

Reese is great to follow because she is unapologetically herself. From her hair dye to what she wears to work, she just wants to do the job she loves and have the respect her title comes with. It’s why the third act conflict hits so much harder, because that’s taken away in a sense. However, I love how that was resolved in so many ways because it was something that felt natural and like a best-case scenario in real life. Everyone is acting professionally for once in a story and that’s nice.

I also have to give a shout-out to K-2P. I have never rooted for a robot side character more.

📘 The Love Algorithm comes out on April 26!

Thank you to @theboldbookclub for the chance to read!

I thought this was a good book! It was a classic romcom in the absolute best way. I love the black cat and golden retriever trope and this book delivered it perfectly.

This book is so good! I love the STEM based romance angle and the way that Reese and Thomas navigated their relationship was just perfect. This is my first read from this author but I will definitely be picking up more of her books soon

4.5/5 - I loved this book. This is my favourite out of the true love series. Thomas is such a good character and really enjoyed his scenes in the other books and I’m glad to have finally read his story.

I could have done without the droid and all the tech speak. Wow, did my eyes glaze over when all the tech jargon took place.

The pacing of the relationship is way off. Nothing and I mean nothing happens until around the 65% mark and then it's, bam kiss, bam, I love you, bam third act conflict (one of the weakest third act conflicts to date) and I'm here with severe whiplash.

Also, why the hell was his phone on voicemail?!? Reese loses her ability to speak and her vocabulary when she's around him. So that question will never be answered.

I'm disappointed with this.

Good read, I found it a little slow to get started and was a bit predictable as many are from this type of genre, however overall it was a lighthearted read and a good bit of escapism!

When I requested Camilla Isley’s The Love Algorithm I hadn’t realised it was the third and final book in her True Love series. Each book can be read as a standalone but the characters cross over into each one. Having now read and really enjoyed this one I’ll be sure to try and get her first two in the series.

The Love Algorithm was such a fun and fast paced read. I really enjoy Isley’s style of writing and how she drawers you into the worlds and lives of characters she’s built. Her’s are fade to black romances, with great chemistry building up throughout.

The Love Algorithm is Reese and Thomas’ story. As head of R&D at Mercer Robotics Reese has found herself now in charge of looking after the BIG bosses’ son Thomas whilst he does a rotation in her lab. Thomas is being primed to take over the Robotics division but is most definitely a fish out of water. Reese and Thomas should most definitely be out of bounds to each other and yet they can’t seem to help, or indeed fight their mutual attraction…

There is so much to love about this one, we’ve got:
🤖 a dual POV romance
💕 two brilliant MCs, with opposites attract and complimentary personalities
🤖 a brilliant (and scheming) droid best pal - go with it and it’s loads of fun!
💕 he falls first
🤖 only one bed - but with tension and spooning!
💕 secret notes being passed (I LOVED this)
🤖 MCs who help and support each other
💕 a not quite third act break, that works really well
🤖 a genius FMC who is supported and celebrated for who she is by the MMC
💕 brilliant chemistry and tension

I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to get stuck into more of Isley’s backlog.

This is an author who is obviously brilliant in many of the scientific fields and expresses that through her heroines. Never in a superiority pushy character, but rather in a heroine who is down to earth and genuinely in love with her chosen field. Next comes the love interest hero who is modest, generous, handsome, patient, and kind. This is a world where people are honest about their feelings and confident to go after what they want. Let's face it. This is a world most of us dream of finding.

I loved the book and the time spent in this world. It's especially fun to read if you have read other books in the series. I love the chance to see favorite characters from the previous books interact with the current main characters.edit

I laughed a lot, looked forward to whatever was going to happen next, was often surprised, but always wanting to read more. Characters you will love with expectations and surprises are waiting to be discovered. Treat yourself to this book and enjoy. It's marvelous!

The Love Algorithm pulled me in from the first chapter!

When Thomas (billionaire CEO-heir) and Reese (Head of Robotics at Thomas’ family company) meet in the least of convenient ways, it makes for an uncomfortable work environment… for some.

This book, along with its stunning cover, would make the perfect addition to any shelf come April 26.
