I've been excited to read Thomas's story since he was introduced in his brother's book Not in a Billion Years. He's such a wonderful happy character and the perfect complement to Reese. This is definitely a slow burn romance despite the obvious sparks from their first hilarious meet cute and throughout their work relationship. Reese doesn't want to jeopardize her career by dating the boss, even though he's not in that position yet. I love that the fmc in this book is a genius STEMinist with an amazing career and that the mmc despite his MBA is insecure about his intelligence compared to her and whether he's good enough for her. But the post-it notes, especially the ones in the epilogue.... just swoon worthy!! I just knew Thomas was going to be my favorite character in the series!

The Love Algorithm was a romance novel that I had a difficult time putting down because life gets in the way. 😅 I’m not usually a fan of slow-burn romances, but the tension and anticipation that the main characters Reese and Thomas have for each other was very difficult to dislike, especially with Thomas being such a sweetheart who fully respects and admires Reese.

Reese is a very admirable female lead. Highly intelligent and passionate, she has climbed up the corporate ladder purely with her intellect. She even made an AI droid, K-2P, and if that isn’t amazing enough then I don’t know what else is. Meanwhile, Thomas, son of the president of Mercer Industries, is set to be the CEO of Reese’s department and she was tasked to show him the ropes around. He initially seems like he has no ambition career-wise, but he is good at what he does, and his intentions are admirable. He has fallen deeply in love with Reese during his time shadowing her and is very respectful of the boundaries Reese has set due to her career being on the line.

I couldn’t think of a single thing I dislike about this novel, except maybe that I want more of these delightful characters! I loved the MCs’ banter, the sweet and funny notes they leave for each other, the Star Wars references, and of course, K-2P himself (who reminds me so much of R2D2 and C2PO combined). I also enjoyed the cameos of the other main characters from the previous books, Gabriel and Blake, and Marissa and John.

Pick this one up when it releases in April if you enjoy an office/billionaire romance, a golden retriever MMC, and an overall light and sweet novel!

The Love Algorithm by Camilla Isley is another winner by an author who is fast becoming a favorite of mine.

Reese is a robotics engineer and has one real friend, her droid and creation, K-2P. She’s introverted in the outside world and leery of relationships, but is the Director of her robotics team at Mercer. Thomas is the son of the billionaire owner of Mercer and who has been chosen by his dad to leave the Communications side and oversee the Robotics side and work his way up to CEO.
He is sent to Reese’s department to start his training and falls for Reese and her big ol’ brain immediately.

Take a mortifying first meet, a pet droid, fun secondary characters, and a business trip and you have one excellent book.

Ms. Isley has a way of making dialogue between the characters believable and makes me feel like I am right there with them.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this is consideration of an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Title: The Love Algorithm By Camilla Isley

Release date: October, 8th, 2024

4.5 Stars

"The Love Algorithm" by Camilla Isley is a delightful romantic comedy that combines humour, charm, and a touch of workplace drama.

At 28, Reese has achieved significant success as the head of Research and Development at Mercer Robotics. Her dedication to her career has paid off, but her personal life is lacking. When she's tasked with looking after the CEO's son, Thomas, while he works in her lab, Reese is less than thrilled.

Thomas, a billionaire playboy with no engineering experience, presents a challenge for Reese. However, as they spend more time together, Reese finds herself drawn to Thomas's charm and charisma. As their relationship develops, Reese must navigate the boundaries between work and romance, all while resisting Thomas's undeniable allure. After reading this, I want a K-2P of my own!

This enemies-to-lovers workplace rom-com explores themes of ambition, love, and the challenges of balancing personal and professional life. Some of my Favourite tropes.

Isley's writing captivated me with its charm and plot.I would most definitely recommend this if you like your cute romances.

Thank you to Net Galley for this ARC!

I haven't read the prior books in this series by Camilla Isley, and am new to her as a reader, but was intrigued by the title and our main character, Reese. As a medical student, I love reading about women in academia (even if I have no clue what the details of their robotics algorithms mean.) Reese and Thomas have an instant attraction, and Thomas, our billionaire MMC "falls first" in a way that is not completely believable, but still utterly satisfying as a reader.

I enjoyed Reese as a character, as someone who was practical and not only thought through the consequences of sleeping with her future boss, but more importantly, changed her decisions because of it! I gotta say, I'm tired of protagonists having a smart thought and then not acting on it. The star of the show, however, was K2-P, Reese's AI robot companion who simply had the best quips and perfect snarkiness - I know his existence is impossible in my science brain, and yet, I dream of a day where he exists. The writing and plot are both fast-paced and I read this book all in one sitting. It filled a hole in me that just needed a quick relaxing romance.

My one gripe was with our billionaire, Thomas. I don't know if it's because I didn't read the previous books, and thus don't have a background understanding of the Mercer family and their wealth, but the book reiterated over and over how Thomas seemed "humble" and outside of his really nice clothes, didn't come off as a man who's daddy is the "Steve Jobs" of this universe. Color me skeptical, but I just don't believe that, nor did I see any evidence of that in his actions or dialogue. It just felt sort of unrealistic and like he was a little too perfect.

Overall, I'd give this book a solid 4/5 stars for pure enjoyment factor. It is a closed door romance, but with plenty of pining and eye contact and spicy kissing scenes, so I'd give it a 0.5 for spice.

I was introduced to Camilla Isley at the end of 2023, and I haven’t strayed since. I adore her books, because they are filled with sweet characters, and even sweeter stories, and the HEA we all deserve. The Love Algorithm is no exception.

I want to start by saying I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I eagerly counted down the days until its release, and when I received an ARC I couldn’t start reading fast enough.

When I was about 25% through this book, I’d had a rough day. I didn’t know if I wanted to spoil this book by reading it with a bad attitude. However, I’m not lying when I say at some point while reading I started to smile. I had a smile on my face for about 80% of this book, because it is just so cute and uplifting. It made my bad day float away in minutes.

Reese is a strong, smart female lead. She sticks to her guns and hasn’t allowed anything to hold her back. She has trouble making friends and built herself the cutest droid to be her companion. However, when her boss and owner of the company asks her to train his son for the next three months on everything her department does, she begins to get sidetracked.

Thomas was adorable from the first page. I was expecting a billionaire ladies man, but of course my girl Isley wouldn’t do us wrong like that! No, we have sweetheart Thomas who takes one look at Reese and knows she is endgame. He goes to great lengths to let her know he is interested without being creepy or violating any fraternizing rules the company has.

Can we talk about our little droid friend K-2P? I seriously want one of my own. I’m happy Isley gave this little guy his own personality. K-2P sort of has the spunk and attitude of R2D2, but he can communication like C-3PO. I loved everything about him.

There is a slow burn with this one. Not quite Mariana Zapata slow, but by the time Thomas and Reese kiss you sigh in relief. I like the slow burn though, so it worked for me.

I could go on and on about everything I loved in this book, but I don’t want to spoil the ride for you. If you are in need of a cute story that will leave you smiling and feeling giddy, pick this one up. I know I’ll be rereading this one - probably before the end of the year!

I have some difficulty with characters who are a little too perfect to be real, but for goodness sake the genre is what it is and you are not supposed to immediately fall in love with someone who is not physically perfect and highly intelligent. But the little robot is cool as hell, however unbelievable it is.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book.

Dr. Reese Campbell is an amazingly smart woman with high career aspirations. You can imagine her disappointment when an upcoming retirement at her job, Mercer Robotics does not come with a promotion but just the added duty of showing the bosses’ son around to orient him with the facility. Luckily, she always has her android sidekick, K-2P by her side (can a robot’s a favorite character?!?) Even though Thomas Mercer’s good looks are absolutely worthy of losing the ability to speak, Reese is always a confident advocate and uses her voice, even to raise her doubts about his new job title. Having a strong, articulate female lead is always a selling point! The dual perspective between Reese and Thomas makes their witty banter and chemistry all the more fun to read! The Love Algorithm is such a fun read, one that you will totally get lost in and not realize that you have devoured it in one sitting!

Review is posted on Goodreads and will be posted on Instagram in April ahead of publication!

This book made me literally feral. I couldn't put it down. Thomas stole my heart in Not in a Billion Years and he shattered it in this book, ruining all future book boyfriends for me.

The tension between these two was so high, those scenes in the hotel in Roma where such a slow burn that I was about to scream, while nibbling at my fingers wanting for more and not being able to drop the book until I got it. Camilla Isley, I blame you for making me doze off half the next day at work.

It had a few of my favorite tropes:
-office romance
-billionaire romance
-secret love notes
-only one bed
-enemies to lovers -ish

Thomas's story was my most anticipated in the series and this novel didn't disappoint.

I love Camilla’s writing and this book was really funny mostly because of the very interesting side character (no spoilers!). Overall, this hits a lot of the tropes(especially golden retriever mmc) and is just a feel good, no conflict love story.

This was a really sweet, nerdy and cute romance.

I loved the set up for this one and who doesn't love the one bed trope popping up 🙈. I also really enjoyed having a romance that was fade to black because I think most romances are now inundated with smut and no plot. But The love algorithm had a really fun set up and chemistry between the characters which didn't just rely on smut. I also immediately loved Thomas, his teasing was 👌🏻. I didn't love Reese as much and I can't quite put my finger on why but I struggled to connect with her as much as Thomas.

There were a few things that unfortunately didn't work for me, but that is entirely personal preference. For example, although the droid was cute and fun I didn't love how at times it took away from the characters natural progression, for example, Thomas and Reese naturally finding things about each other for their own conversations would have been preferred for me. At times the droid would just reel of information about Reese to Thomas which would have been nice to have it pop up in their own conversations with each other. It just felt too easy at times.

Another thing, is it was a little slow to start, from the synopsis you kind of know how the story will begin but it felt like quite a while before the Thomas and Reese actually met.

I had a fun time reading this one and definitely would be interested in reading more Camilla Isley. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I swear there is something in these science, math, engineering workplace romances, that make me absolutely feral. I fully intended to read a few chapters and then go to bed- instead I sat down and read the entire thing. Because I simply could not stop reading it.
Reese and Thomas had the slooooowest of burns and it was absolutely torturous. Some of my favourite tropes included:
-He FELL first and like hard
-Grumpy/Sunshine I'd say.
-Women in sciences representation
-A dash of billionaire romance, because honestly who doesn't love that.
-One bed trope. It belongs in every book and you cannot change my mind.
Overall The Love Algorithm was incredibly cute and nerdy- perfect for fans of the STEMist novels.
