I had been waiting to read this for ages and I was delighted when I saw it was on Netgalley. This blew my mind a little once I realised what was going on and that wasn’t till really close to the end. Well worth a read if you are looking for suspense and to be left with no fingernails.

This was a slightly slow burner for me from start to finish. I once read a book by this author and I haven't found any as good since.
That doesn't mean this is a bad read but it didn't grip me like I'd hoped.
A good book but not their best but regardless I will be rating it 3

After looking forward to reading and reviewing this book, I have to say it was a struggle to read. I skimmed most of the last chapter. I'm glad I stuck with it and finished the book, but KL Slater has definitely done better. Thank you for the opportunity to read this one.

The storyline dragged & the characters were weak & unlikeable. I just felt that this book wasn't up to her usual standards

As usual a wonderful mystery from K.L.Slater ,it wasnt my favourite but i did enjoy it .IT was a bit too far fetched at times for me .

We have all been there at some point our best friend needs us and we drop everything but what if when you get there they deny ever reaching out to you what would you do?
Saffy finds herself in this situation and what follows leads her to having to save herself and those closest to her.
You can always rely on K.L Slater to provide a good read and this is no exception,a strong storyline and characters that are hard to like until their stories unfold and you get to understand why they are like they are and with an ending that wasn't predictable I found this the authors best book so far.

Kim is one of my favourite authors, she delivers consistently every time. This is another good novel from her, not my favourite, it felt lacking somewhere. It was an easy read however. Full of Kim’s lovely, flowing writing style.

For me this book was just ok. The concept with the deleted messages was intriguing, but for me it never really lived up to its potential.

I'll start with what I did like - I thought the book was well paced and I was intrigued by the mystery of what had happened to Leona and her family. The ending was good and all loose ends were satisfactorily tied up.

The dialogue was dreadful, especially in the 'past' sections. An eighteen year old boy would absolutely never compliment someone on their 'groovy' jumpsuit. All of the dialogue was pretty bad, but I genuinely laughed out loud at that. Also, the timeline was all over the place. Saffy was described as being 32 and Leona 34, but they were in the same year at school? Also, Saffy went to the shop on a weekend and said that the children in the shop should be at school. I appreciate that I read an advance copy, so hopefully some of these issues will be ironed out before publication.

Overall, this was a very middle of the road book in my opinion. I did enjoy the story, but I don't think it will prove to be particularly memorable.

Saffy receives a text from best friend, Leona, asking for help. But as quickly as the text is sent it is then suddenly deleted. Leona insists all is fine and that there was no message but Saffy feels something is not right and later gets a knock on the door. Leona and her family are missing. Will they be found?

I found the synopsis of this one very intriguing and felt that I would be in for a twisty ride which turned out to be correct! I am ashamed to admit this is my first K.L Slater novel but it definitely will not be my last. I found the writing style engaging and enjoyed trying to work out what was going on, my mind kept changing. I found this was easily readable with an interesting storyline. The characters were well written but not wholly likeable. I found myself getting very frustrated at Saffy sometimes, wanting to shake some sense into her! Overall maybe slightly unbelievable but an entertaining, twisty thriller and I’ll definitely be looking at this author’s other books.
