I recently damaged both my knees so I can't walk properly. This book suggested me a lot of possible walks once I'm back to health.
Well explained, easy to follow
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Great British Walkies is a guide book that covers pretty much everything that comes to mind about dog walks in the UK.
The title reads 'British' and it was lovely to see walks from all parts of the UK and Northern Ireland included in this book.
We are in luck when it comes to nature walks in the UK and Ireland, and this book is proof.
So far, there has not been a National Trust publication that I have encountered and not liked, and this was no exception.
There is always easy-to-spot practical information, more historical or factual information, great pictures and time-distance estimates.
I highly recommend this, and will use it with my friends to go on a walk (taking their dogs on a walk), and hopefully, our future dogs will accompany us as well. Nice tourist guide, additionally.

A really useful guide, which includes a foreword by Matt Baker.
Easy to see symbols and maps with the National Trust's paw print number shown at the top of each walk.
The areas of the country are colour coded and there are clear and concise directions.
An excellent feature is the 'at a glance' - distance, difficulty, terrain, stiles and interest, clearly shown for each walk.
Many delightful walks. Highly recommend.

An absolute delight of a book, Great British Walkies is not just for the four-legged traveller. Those of us with just two legs will find it immensely useful too. With 100 walks across the UK, there is something for everyone here and each comes in at between 2 and 6 miles and is suitable for walkers with dogs. Clear maps and turn-by-turn instructions, together with beautiful pictures and tips on things to see make this an attractive guide to the countryside, and the book packs and impressive amount of information into each walk. Tremendous fun and highly informative.

Great British Walkies is a wonderfully laid-out book that offers an abundance of useful information for walking enthusiasts. Each walk is accompanied by essential details such as distance, difficulty, terrain, and the presence of stiles, which is particularly helpful for those seeking accessible routes.

While I enjoyed the book, I found that it primarily features extremely well-known walks, at least in my area, which diminishes the need for the book as these popular routes are already widely recognised and easily found with a quick Google search. Additionally, I was hoping to discover some lesser-known paths and more easy walks, as it seems that over 90% of the walks included are either moderate or challenging.

Is there anything better than going on a walk through wonderful British landscape? Well yes, if you take your faithful four legged friend of course.

This fab guide from the national Trust is full of colourful photographs of walks and dogs, decorated throughout with muddy footprints and pawprints. The book points out how important it is to utilise outdoor spaces to enable us to bond with dogs as well as training and exploring and includes all the essentials for a day out that suit both man and his companion, such as cafes for us and dog friendly amenities for our furry friends.

As with all good guides there are clear maps, routes and easy to identify symbols. The walks are various in the lengths (two to ten miles), terrain and accessibility, so the ones that are suitable for the whole family are marked with paths that that will enable prams or wheelchairs and those that pass playgrounds. A pawprint rating lets the walker know whether dogs are welcome but limited facilities, those places that supply water bowls and doggie bins, and the three paws gold standard sites that offer activities such as showers and agility courses, for example.

The book is clearly laid out with plenty of visual aspects and is ordered by region. As well as the map and walk directions, the postcode, distance and other interests are included in a quick information reference box at the top of the page. The text goes into more detail about things to see and other nearby walks and information including things to consider, such as dog bans during particular seasons. Around a hundred walks are included including places to stay that are dog friendly.

Simple, easy to follow and essential for people who love to share their lives with their best friends. Highly recommended.

This is such a fine guide to Britain’s 100 best dog walks, with lovely photos and info-rich sections with maps, directions, details on whether leashes are needed, and ideas on nearby doggy-friendly places to eat and stay. Each walk is 2 to 6 miles, and allows you to experience the UK's glorious countryside with your best furry companion. It's left me closing my eyes and thinking of England in the best possible way!

This could be a wonderful book for a lot of people, however for me personally I was really disappointed as there are just huge swaths of the country not covered.

I know it’s not possible to include every area, as there’s only so many walks one book can possibly cover, but there is nothing within a 2hr drive from my home which makes this less than useful for me and my pooch. As such, it’s pretty difficult for me to be able to test out the routes and the advice. However, I have actually done a few of these walks in the past and I do feel like they’ve been perfectly captured. It’s just a shame the north west/lancashire is so poorly covered.

This is such a cute and beautifully designed book! It showed dog friendly locations in my area that I didn't even know about. The perfect companion for your doggy adventures!

Another good book from the National Trust, written by Matt Baker from Countryfile. Whether you have company or not, this book offers you a great selection of walks. Each walk description starts with a few useful facts, such as distance, level of difficulty and whether or not there are stiles to cross. There's also a 'Paws for Thought' section, saying where dogs must be kept on a lead. As well as giving you directions on your walk, it also mentions things to look out for from ancient trees to kissing gates and places with spectacular views. I particularly enjoyed the Mottisfont Estate walk near Romsey in Hampshire, a walk I can personally recommend.

I imagine this book would work much better in physical form than as an e-book. It's laid out very clearly and seems to describe the routes well. As I always say with books like this, I prefer them when they are separated by area, since I'm unlikely to get to do anywhere near all 100 of these before the book details are out of date as like most people I don't get to go on holiday that often, and it isn't that interesting just as a book to flick through casually without ever doing the walks. The distribution of included walks isn't very even across the UK (good if you're in Surrey, not so much if you live in Scotland.)

I was really happy that I was chosen to review this book, and being a member of the national trust meant I didn’t have to worry about any charges. having the day off work and finding several walks near me I bundled the dogs in the car and set off following the instructions in the book.
I liked the information with not only dat nab post codes but public transport.
It made parking easy and I decided to see how easy it was to follow the walks.
I like the information given about where dogs are not allowed or and restrictions I may have eg bird breeding season. So dogs on leads at certain times during the year.
The instructions to follow were really well laid out and easy to follow.
I like the little facts given about the place and nearby walks that I could look into.
So many walks that it’s perfect to take on ho,I day or for a day kit.
High,y recommend and will purchase a physical copy of book as I felt on my kindle it was a but disjointed but this may improve in the final version as I was looking at a document of the book.
Loved it do much going to purchase as presents for my fellow dog walkers in my family.
