I just finished reading Unstressable by Mo Gawdat and Alice Law. This book is a holistic guide to understanding and mitigating stress - something that we ALL struggle with in different ways throughout our lives.
I found the beginning portion of the book particularly engaging, where Mo drew on his engineering background to describe the science behind stress. I had many 'ah ha' moments when the authors guided us through the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual side of stress where the content related directly to how I have felt in my life. The book also offered several practical approaches, actionable steps, and tools to manage and reduce stress. Of course, not all are going to work for everyone, but I have already taken a few of them and felt a difference in the way I respond and cope with stress. I enjoyed the combination of scientific research with personal anecdotes.
I will say that the book lost a little momentum for me towards the end - it didn't quite finish on the punch that I felt it should have given the powerful beginning. Nonetheless, it is a book I would highly recommend (and have already done so to many of my friends and colleagues). Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
This has been helpful to change my way of thinking. It's a very informative book and can help a lot of people.
I feel this book is relatable as I've been struggling with anxiety and it has hints to help.
Since first coming across Mo Gawdat on Elizabeth Day’s podcast, I’ve found his wise and thoughtful approach to life a helpful reminder of what’s important. This is a practical book and a much-needed tool in the modern world.
This book by Mo Gawdat and Alice Law is a brilliant, thorough look at stress, why we get stressed and the ways we can tackle stress. I was honestly gripped by it as so much of it made sense and having read quite a few books on this subject, I felt like this book got through to me and really got me thinking of things I can do to change my mindset. There are exercises to try and some of them might take you out of your comfort zone. I like how both authors draw on their personal experiences to illustrate how they have tackled stress and anxiety in their lives. There’s a chapter towards the end of the book about listening to your intuition and your soul I thought was beautifully written and really has made me sit back and think about some more. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book and I plan to buy a hard copy and refer back to it in future. Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
