This was an adorable book. My four year old son really enjoyed the way the story was told. The book was funny and engaging. The illustrations were cute and had a touch of whimsy to them. I definitely recommend this book to families with young kids. I great book to keep your kiddo engaged.

What an adorable story read to the turn of Here We Go Around the Mulberry Bush. The pictures were charming and the dogs were so funny! My kids loved their different reactions or routines on each page. After the first two pages my kids quickly picked up on the rhythm of the book thanks to the song.

I am definitely not the target of the book. So, it is a bit difficult to judge it, but I will do my best.
First of all, the art was very cute. Both as a grown-up and as a child, I love dogs. As a child I used to want anything related to dogs. I think the ideal way to enjoy this book is to sing the text together with you child, because the text is in rhyme. Overall, it is a starting point for a very enjoyable and cute moment to share with small children.

This was a cute read. I love books that I can sing at storytime! This one was unique and to the tune of "Here We Go Around the Mulberry Bush," but follows a dog going through his daily routine! The illustrations were soft and adorable and the details were fantastic. I think the repetition makes it a great one for toddlers and preschoolers!

A cute book that is set to Here We Go Around the Mulberry Bush where dogs go through their morning routine. This is a fun book that children definitely could get involved with because of the repetition of words on each page.

Beautiful pictures! The attention to details is great, because those details to each drawing are so cute. The story follows a day routine of a puppy as soon as he wakes up to when he does to bed. Such a cute book to read and sing along with, makes me want to open the book again just to reread multiple times. Easy for young kids/toddlers to follow along with.

“This is the way in Dogtown” follows a little dog going about their day. The story of the dogs day is set in the format of the song “This is way” which really made the story flow.

The illustrations in this book are so vibrant and eye catching. It was a fun story and kept my little one engaged throughout.

As a family of dog lovers we really enjoyed this book. It’s one of those books that could really be read independently or with the whole family. This is definitely one I’ll keep going back to.

Being a former preschool teacher, I've read many books such as this - that are based on a song and repeat (think "The Wheels on the Bus." While this can be boring for an adult, it really appeals to littles, especially if there are beautiful illustrations or a little something different. This is based on the song "Mulberry Bush," but all of the things that are "done" in the story are done by dogs. This makes it unique and the illustrations are wonderful! My favorite is the picture of the mama dog with a green face mask on her face. So cute! Highly recommend this book for very little ones all the way up to preschool and kindergarten.

This lovely book by Bologna Prize winner shows us a very imaginative busy Dogtown. There are so many different kinds of dogs and all the dogs in the book are so lovely and friendly. The illustration of the book is very very beautiful! So vivid! I can look at one single picture for a whole afternoon! Highly recommend!

This is the Way in Dogtown
by Ya-Ling Huang

The processes of daily life explained in song, and verse. The dogs show the children their life. The order of their day. With cute pictures and side line jokes to keep them entertained. The book shows sequences repetition and rhythm. Good resource for music class, or social emotional learning.

I could hear the lyrics in the head! What a lovely little children’s book with beautiful illustrations. I can envision this as a nighttime read story, humming the littles to sleep.
Thank you Net Galley for the ARC.

"This is the Way in Dogtown" by Ya-Ling Huang is an adorable bedtime book for littles. We follow a school-aged pup through their day starting with brushing their teeth and ending with going to bed. The illustrations are colorful and have a lot going on. I really loved how the book is written to the tune of the nursery rhyme "all around the mulberry bush". I can't wait to share with my little one!

A story about dogs living a human life and all that they do. While each page was covered with illustrations, there wasn’t any rhyming or cadence to move the story along which made it kind of boring. However for some kids the monotonous story might be good for them.

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc.

The drawing were beautiful and they were more than enough. Every page had it, full of drawings.
The rhythm was nice and catchy.

Unfortunately, these are the only things I liked about this book.
The rhythm never changed, making one get bored while reading, it didn't even rhyme.
The drawings might be good, but the text wasn't having any fancy font and was, in my opinion, too small for children.
There was no story to be told except daily activities, everyone does. It didn't teach anything, which it usually does for children books.

I do not recommend this book and I refrain from posting this review on my blog. But I will post it on Goodreads.

Thank you Ya-Ling Huang, Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy. I might didn't like it, but I was glad that I took the opportunity to read it.

"This is the Way in Dogtown" by Ya-Ling Huang is a children's picture book. It is to be sung to the tune of "All Around the Mulberry Bush". The main characters are dogs who act like humans. They go through daily activities like brushing teeth, eating lunch, going swimming, etc. The drawings remind me of Richard Scarry books with a lot of detail in a cartoon type drawing. I didn't especially like this plot-less story, but it is one that would likely appeal to many kids.

Thank you to Netgalley, Quarto Publishing Group- Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and the author Ya-Ling Huang for providing this ARC e-book so I could give you my honest review.
