I want to Thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I was able to find the audio version through my local library. This book was a let down for me. I found the main female character is just so annoying and selfish. Actually all the characters are annoying an non likeable. It was just okay.
I may be a bit behind my schedule but I finally am clearing up my back log.
This book still has me thinking about it. The characters are very complex and this story is very twisty. The characters ar very deceitful. If you like a great story with lots of drama this is the one for you.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood books for this arc!
Her Husband’s Lie by Amanda Reynolds was a fab, fab psychological thriller that I loved. Read in one sitting I could not put it down and certainly did not expect the ending. A great read from start to finish.
I loved Amanda Reynolds last title, and was super keen to read Her Husband’s Lie. The pacing was slightly slower this time around, and I wasn’t quite as committed to the characters and the plot, but I still enjoyed reading and would read more by this author.
This author is new to me and I would definitely read more from her. This book had an interesting story line and I wasn’t sure how I it was going to end up. I definitely did not guess the ending!

Handsome doctor Matthew Delaney and his wife Nicole have a perfect life. So when Matthew suddenly vanishes, Nicole is in shock.
As Nicole searches for answers, she uncovers a trail of deceit leading straight to the mysterious Glasshouse a staggering palatial home constructed out of cut glass and icy granite, clinging to the hillside in a gravity defying show of power and wealth.
But the more Nicole learns about the Glasshouse and all its secrets, the more she begins to doubt her husband. Matthew’s words before he disappeared were so reassuring, but now they are simply chilling…
The lie was good and believable.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me an advance copy.
This was so much more than I expected. I could not put it down, as I wanted to know what was happening all the time. I love a book where I am kept guessing and this one certainly did that.
“Her Husband’s Lie” by Amanda Reynolds is a gripping and beautifully written thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. This was my first encounter with Reynolds' work, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of her prose and the intricacies of her storytelling.
The plot revolves around Nicole, who thought she trusted her husband, Dr. Matthew Delaney, until he suddenly vanishes, leaving her life in disarray. As Nicole delves deeper into the mystery of his disappearance, she uncovers a web of deceit leading to the enigmatic Glasshouse—a stunning yet ominous mansion made of glass and granite. The more secrets she unravels, the more she begins to doubt the man she once trusted completely.
Reynolds masterfully crafts a dark and twisty narrative that kept me guessing at every turn. While I didn't find the characters particularly lovable, the compelling storyline and the suspenseful twists more than made up for it. The tension builds perfectly, and the chilling climax left me reeling.
Overall, “Her Husband’s Lie” is a highly enjoyable read that I would recommend to fans of psychological thrillers. I give it 4 stars and extend my thanks to NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I feel like this book took a long time to get to the point. Successful doctor Matthew goes missing after him and his wife have an argument. Detectives slowly find more clues. But the book focus a lot on Nicole’s feelings and it’s a lot of book about her feelings. She does have a lot of secrets that slowly get revealed. The book keeps a cliffhanger of her secrets thru the pages. The ending did surprise me tho so that was nice.
Nic’s husband Matt was missing. Everyone was looking for him especially Nic, his sister Grace and his daughter Lily.
Usually the reader would identify with the story teller Nic but this time I have no sympathy or compassion with any of the women. All becomes clear as you read on.
Who do I like - nobody!!
Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy!
Fast quick read of the classic husband and wife physiological thriller.
Wow! I read this book in one sitting; I couldn't put it down!
Nicole and Matt Delaney looked like the perfect couple to everyone. That is until her husband, an Gynecologist has an affair with a patient and gets caught by the medical board in London. Nic has been married to Matt for almost 27 years, but her trust in him is tested when he disappears on their daughter, Lily's, 18th birthday. He leaves her a note to trust him, he'll fix everything, but now she's questioning everything she ever knew about him.
With the police digging into their finances, then a body turns up, things get messy and Matt is on the run hiding from everyone. Lily is covering for her father, not knowing the truth about him and his faults. Who can Nic lean on for support?
The ending was a twist I never saw coming. A must read.
‘A house built on secrets, a marriage full of deceit…’ Wow this book is certainly filled with a whole smorgasbord of secrets from the very onset! As the pages went by poor Nicole was discovering the extent of her husbands lies were far greater than she could even being to fathom. After her husband jokes about faking his own life to get out a messy tribunal at work, Nicole didn’t think for one second he would do it and on their daughter’s birthday of all days!! From that moment the tangled web of lies that Matthew had hid from and the gaslighting that kept Nicole down all came to forefront when affairs were put out in the open, blackmail and then murder. Her perfect life was crashing down around her, her daughter hated her and her husband for all intents was still very much alive but could be the one involved in the murder of his mistress?? Honestly it was a mess from the start, but a mess that had you gripped.
But I tell you that wee twist at the end! Didn’t see that coming at all.
Her Husband’s Lie immediately hooked me and held my attention from beginning to end!
Dr. Matthew Delaney tells his unsuspecting wife, Nic, that they are basically broke, saying they’ve been living beyond their means for too long. Add in the exorbitant lawyer fees required to see the doctor through a patient lawsuit, he suggests they sell their home. When Nic responds with frustration and confusion, Matthew lashes out saying maybe life would be easier if he just died so Nic could collect his hefty life insurance. He then begins rambling about how he could fake his death, something that appalls Nic who suffers from poor mental health.
But then, a week later, on the day of their daughter, Lily’s, 18th birthday party, police detectives show up to say Matthew’s car was found crashed and abandoned on the side of the road.
Did Matthew have a premonition something bad was coming his way in light of the lawsuit from a patient? Or did he actually go through with his crazy idea to fake his own death?
Because of those questions, and so many more, I was hooked beginning to end! This was delightfully suspenseful and full of secrets and lies. I’ve read other books from Amanda Reynolds and can’t wait to see what twisty tales she comes up with next!
This was a 5 star read which, for me, means I would include it in my “Best Reads of 2024.” This is available to read and listen to so I suggest securing your preferred version now!
TRIGGER WARNING: sexual misconduct, rape, miscarriage and stillbirth
Nic and Matt appear to have the perfect marriage. But he admits that he has a complaint against him at work and their finances are in tatters. He jokes about faking his death and later disappears. Did Matt run away from his problems or did they catch up with him...?
Her Husband's Lie is a psychological thriller set in the UK.
Nic is shocked when her husband vanishes on their daughter's 18th birthday. He was supposed to collect the cake but never appears, instead his crashed car is discovered. The police begin to investigate and are particularly interested in his troubles at work which have left the family in financial straits. Then it is revealed that the woman he is accused of sexual misconduct with (due to doctor/patient relationship) has also vanished.
Poor Nic also has to deal with Matt's sister Grace who is almost obsessed with her beloved brother who can do no wrong in her eyes. This isn't helping her already strained relationship with her daughter nor her mental health which has been significantly affected by miscarriages and stillbirths in the past. Nic is under unbearable pressure from her family and the police but is struggling to make sense of her husband's actions.
The majority of the book is written to show Nic's attempts to find the truth with occasional chapters showing Grace's divided loyalty between her adoration for her missing brother and support for those he has left behind. All of the characters hint at hidden information whilst Grace and Nic debate with themselves about being totally honest with each other and the police. It is clear that there are secrets everywhere and the twists kept coming!
Her Husband's Lie is an engaging and fascinating psychological thriller. There is a fab tension throughout and I was kept guessing.
My first Amanda Reynolds and it won't be my last. It was an easy read that I flew through in two sittings.
I loved the characters and how they developed throughout the story.
Everything flowed so well and that twist at the end was one I absolutely did not see coming. Just brilliant.

Wow this book was so good I ended up reading it all day. Just excellent
I highly recommend this book. Great read from start to finish.
Big thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for my Book to read etc.
I actually enjoyed this story and the complexity o9f the relationships between the characters. Nicole and Matt seem to have a perfect life together. Matt is a wealthy doctor and Nicole is a stay-at-home mom. They live in a nice house with comforts that others envy. But when Matt's dealings start to come to light, Nicole is floored as she tries to piece together how to move forward. The twists in this book kept coming. I found myself talking out loud to some of the things that were going on. I could easily see this as a movie in my head. The writing flows effortlessly getting you to fully understand the characters. I enjoyed how the whole time I was kept guessing. Definitely would recommend to those who are into mysteries and thrillers.
First I want to thank NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Amanda Reynolds for my ARC of Her Husband’s Lie.
This was my first book by Amanda Reynolds but it won’t be my last. I enjoyed this book because it kept me guessing till the end. It was well written although none of the characters are really likable. I personally thought that it was an easy read. There were some slower parts in the book but the story was well developed. I will definitely read more from this author.
Great storyline, great characters but ending left me questioning the how's, why's and when's!! Book kept me entertained well and couldn't read quickly enough to find out the culprit.
Seemed to fall flat near the very end and I was left questioning how this had happened and why it really happened! A good read all the same.
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publishers for allowing me to read and review this book
