This is another brilliant book from Jessica.
It opens your eyes to the mental health issues that can occur due to a sporting injury. The amount of research Jessica has done to produce this book is immense. I love reading her books as I enjoy learning about the subjects she writes about.
I see from the end of the book where she has sourced a lot of the information and it's amazing the work involved to write such a story.
Her books just flow so well and that isn't an easy thing to do.
I particularly loved learning about the aspects of gymnastics and all of the information on owls.
Such an amazing author to put some much time and love to a book. Snowy, Zara and Harrison are a delight to read about. As are all of the other characters.
Jessica please continue to write such lovely books, which are enjoyed by many, many people.
Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to have an early copy of this book.
I've really enjoyed the hedgehog hollow series and related books, this was no exception. Loved reading about some familiar characters but really loved Snowy and his family. I'm hoping they'll be more books to come.
There's just absolutely no need to reference Harry Potter in any book and doing it not once, but multiple times is just a no-no for me.
I was so excited to read this book and it didn't disappoint. I love all Jessica Redland's books but the books in this series are my absolute favourites.
A lovely story and a bonus catch up with some of the best loved characters from Hedgehog Hollow,
Jessica Redland never fails my mind and my heart!
This book had tragedy, addiction, happiness, 2nd chance love, family drama. It really had it all! All the while tying it in with friends from Hedgehog Hollow and Bumblebee Barn that we've met in the past!
I enjoyed learning more about the characters from previous series and novels including Hedgehog Hollow and Bumblebee Farm (this book carries on directly after Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Farm - though enough of the plot is explained well so too don't have to have read them to follow this book) .
There was a lot of information about the topics in the book - owls, gymnastics and the TV production stuff that at times I felt a bit bogged down with technical facts about things, I realise their significance to the plot but still there was a lot going on between Snowy and Zara.
It's a feelgood, light-hearted read and readers of Redland's previous books will definitely enjoy it
I've got a special shelf on Goodreads with the theme not being good enough as this is a timely topic I think needs to be addressed in this day and age. Indeed, Zara is miserable with her unkind brother while her mother is making up excuses for him, yet not apologizing for her own awful manipulative behavior.
But A New Dawn at Owl's Lodge is about more than just that, as there are the lovely owls who need all the help they can get. And as for help for the humans... just be the bear! If you want to know what that means, read the book to find out :)
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
Oh WOW what can I say Jessica does it again, this book is just lovely, i enjoy the returning characters, there is just enough familure to know its connected but it was lovely to get to know some new people, I love the area and there is always just the right amount of description, Keep them coming Jessica, thanks.
Such a sweet story with the added bonus of learning a bit about owls!
The story was so nicely told, with both the male and female character perspectives allowing a sincere look into their memories and histories that shaped who they are. Topics of lost love, addiction, mental health, family struggles are all handled respectfully and with insight. A sweet read with a story that reminds us good things are possible!
Jessica Redland hits the mark again. First couple of chapters I was not sure then I could not put it down. The research she has done on owls is amazing . Yet again she covers a difficult subject well. No spoilers. There were some new fab characters, Snowy, Eddie and Harrison but also some old favourites from Hedgehog Hollow and Bumblebee Barn. Families are just amazing and shape us more than we realise.. I loved Zara’s and Snowy’s story. Ten out of ten again Jessica. Really loved it.
Another great read from Jessica Redland and a surprise to read that we are back with the Bumblebee Farm crowd and mixing with the Hedgehog Hollow crowd as well. Fantastic writer that can weave her books bringing in former characters and it all fits in.
Snowy from Owls Lodge is a recluse focusing on helping injured owls and home schooling his son and trining him in gymnastics in his state of the art gym. Along comes Zara and turns his world upside down.
Zara has also got some soul searching to do figuring out her relationships with her mum and her obnoxious brother.
Hey both start on a path to healing with the help of old friends and new.
Brilliant storyline and hope to meet them all again soon.
A lovely story about friendship, love and redemption. The story was a little bit slow moving, but it was an enjoyable read and I loved the descriptions of England’s native owls. A sweet romance with some kissing scenes and a suggestion of more.
Jessica's storytelling shines once again, weaving a tale that captivates with its heartfelt narrative. The dynamic between Zara and Snowy unfolds beautifully against the backdrop of Bumblebee Barn, drawing readers into a world where love and friendship flourish amidst life's challenges.
The characters, especially Snowy, undergo profound growth, overcoming grief and guilt with resilience. Zara's journey is equally compelling, her pursuit of happiness amidst familial struggles resonating deeply. Despite occasional frustrations with certain characters, their development adds depth to the narrative, making each page-turning moment all the more rewarding.
From the charming setting to the endearing wildlife encounters, this book is a delightful escape into a world of love, friendship, and the beauty of living in the moment. With its heartwarming storyline and lovable characters, it's no surprise that this book will likely join Jessica's roster of bestsellers.
Oh I really did enjoy this book,
It’s such sweet happy love story filled with amazing characters, beautiful settings, wildlife and owls!!
I loved growth Snowy went through it was amazing and so lovely to see him overcome his grief and guilt.
I loved Zara she really did bring happiness and joy and a live in the moment love.
Harrison was adorable as was his grandpa
This book also had the most amazing fact sheets about the 5 different owls found living in the uk
Couldn’t have enjoyed this more!
A must read it’s like a warm hug
A lovely romance in this continuing series. We follow Zara and Snowy, both who have rocky family history as well as other challenges. I enjoyed the romance and seeing things from both of their perspectives.
I'm a huge fan of Jessica and I love this setting. Waiting patiently for this book has been hard but it is so so worth it. From the moment I started reading the first page, I felt like I'd just been hugged as I stepped back into the wonderful world of Bumblebee Barn but also the feature of Hedgehog Hollow (I adore Sam) but this is all about Zara and Snowy. You can't help but smile and for your heart to be tugged as your taken one a journey that involves owls, gymnastics (I love the sport so I'm in heaven here), and the Olympics but its also the story and the progression of the characters that keep you coming back for more. Little Harrison is adorable, I loved Eddie and for his wisedom but also the fact that Snowy, even though his past is heartbreaking and challenging, he does everything right for his son.
There are at times I wanted to shout at Zara's mum, her idiotic brother for the jerk he is but Zara's journey is beautiful and moving.
As per usual I couldn't put this book down and had been stalking Netgalley for it coming on here because I was desperate to read it. It's going to be another one of Jessica's best selling books. Can't wait for her September release now. Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood for letting me read this.
It always amazes me the amount of research that goes into writing a book and that is extremely evident in this book particularly on the topics of gymnastics and owls.
Whilst this book also covers some difficult topics such as mental health and death, it covers them sensitively and with the respect both issues deserve.
Regular reader's of Jessica Redland's book will be pleased to discover there are visits to Hedgehog Hollow and Bumblebee Barn which I loved.
Over all this book was brilliant and I absolutely loved it, so much so I didn't want it to end.
