Huge thank you NetGalley and Hachette for the early copy!
(Don't forget and please remember to check TW)
Elle Kennedy did not miss with this book, she knew what she was doing. I thought I wasn't really going to be invested being two non 'Off Campus' children but I still loved absolutely every second. I also find I eat up the hate to love, animosity in sport college romance, and somehow it's always book 2 and I love it.
I loved Diana and Shane, the way their story naturally unfolded with a fake dating subplot was perfect. And let's talk about all the Off Campus/Briar U mentions, for one seeing all four OC boys, my heart melted. I love them so much, they are the OG book boyfriends for me. And then all the kids, Dean and Logan over Blake and Beau (I beg Elle to write so we can see Logan and Dean together)!!
The dance scenes with Diana and Shane were hot and I'll leave that at that.
Love love love.

I think at this point we can proclaim Elle Kennedy the Queen of hockey Romance. I have not been disappointed with any of her hockey books and this is no different

Diane is a strong sassy independent Women but all that is challenged when Shane moved into her complex.
I love a book with a string fiesty fmc , honestly I was sat her laughing at some of her antics.
If you looking for a hockey romance , with characters who want you rooting for them but have you laughing along with the then this book is for you .
It’s not all light hearted there are some emotions passages
All over Elle Kennedy delivers another unputdownable (of that even a word) book
I’ll be honest, I was a little disappointed when I originally found out that this book wasn’t gonna be about a next generation child, but Elle Kennedy came through and I loved this! It was much more than I expected. And as with the previous book, I adored seeing all the off campus/briar u characters again🫶🏼
Shane and Diana were everything! Now I didn’t love them more than Ryder and Gigi, but they were still great. Their banter was *chefs kiss, it had me genuinely laughing, and their whole frenemies vibe was GIVING🤌🏼 Also we must talk about how hot this one was…definitely the hottest book I’ve read from Elle to date!!
I did not expect to cry while reading this, but Elle Kennedy really played with my emotions towards the end🥺

If we don’t get a book for Will and Beckett I will sue🫡
I love hockey romances. I love Elle Kennedy. And I love Elle Kennedy hockey romances.
I knew for a fact I was going to enjoy this book just knowing that I'm a fan of her stories in general but oh my god there were so many plot points that I wasn't expecting that just made this whole story so much deeper. Based on what we knew of Shane from The Graham Effect, I expected this book to be so unserious all the time (which I honestly love sometimes) but these intense storylines that were included show his serious side and I loved every minute of it. I devoured this book so fast and now I need the next one (please tell me it's the wide receiver and Logan's daughter)
Enemies to lovers, fake dating and spice. The perfect mix! The chemistry between the characters is perfect and draws you in. Really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend!
3 stars. Slightly disappointed in this one because I absolutely love Elle Kennedy and I gave The Graham Effect 5 stars. The story just felt a little bit all over the place and Diane and Shane relationship felt kinda rushed and I wasn’t convinced by it. I did really like the apartment complex side characters and the funny community they had. All in all it was sexy, funny in parts and I enjoyed their addition to the reality show bonding them together as friends.
I absolutely ate this book up. I enjoyed every second of it and Diana and Shane are on my list of favourites characters ever. I really recommend this book, it’s such a fun read and it will make you giggle a few times. But it will definitely play into your emotions too.
I loved this enemies to lovers story. Diana is a strong confident woman who doesn’t take any prisoners and she isn’t happy when cocky hockey player Shane moves into her complex. Cue lots of insults and exes which results in some fake dating and a friends with benefits situation. A brilliant read and the spice you come to expect from an Elle Kennedy read. Definitely worth adding to your TBR
I’ve been excited to read this book ever since I finished reading The Graham Effect.
I loved the storyline of this book, from Shane becoming Diana’s new annoying neighbour to the fake dating, it was just flawlessly executed. My absolute favourite part though was the dancing! I would love to see this book become a movie for the dance scenes alone 🥵. Also, this book has some of the best banter I’ve read this year, Diana is so sassy and I was living for all of her sneakiness.
It’s not all light-hearted humour though, there are some series and sad moments that made me well up, not full-on crying but just a little sad for Shane and Diana. They handled all the stuff they went through fairly well and I liked the outcome of the story at the end. I’m intrigued to know who the next book will be based on though 🤔
Absolutely loved this book.
The off-campus and Briar U series are both my fav college series. When the Graham effect came out I was so excited to read the next generation of the briar babies. And it definitely didn’t disappoint.
So when I heard another book was being released in the series I knew I needed to read it. Although neither of the MCs are briar babies, they were introduced as friends from the Graham effect.
I loved both Diana and Shane. Their chemistry felt so natural and I loved seeing the journey of how their relationship progressed. It was such an interesting setup with them both being neighbours who enter into a fake dating relationship because of their exes. Really enjoyed how the book was light hearted and fun but also touched on more serious topics.
The only thing which I felt was missing this time was the friendship aspect. In the Graham effect we saw a lot more of the friends and their own dynamic. But it’s understandable we saw less in this book as it had already been previously set up and both the MCs live on their own.
Overall would definitely read again and I will be making sure to follow this rest of the series.
Thanks Netgalley for providing the ARC!
The Dixon Rule ARC Review
5⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thank you Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for providing me an eARC of The Dixon Rule by Elle Kennedy in return for an honest review.
WOW! This is admittedly the first book I have read by Elle Kennedy and it certainly won’t be my last. Note: while this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
The tension between Shane and Diana OMG so good! They had great banter and their rivalry between each other at the start just made their chemistry that bit hotter. The story is written with dual perspective too which makes it so much better to read both their thoughts and feelings 💖
Also got to add that those HOA meetings were amazing and I wish I was also living there so I could attend lol
I loved Diana so much. She has a feisty personality and is unapologetically herself. Yet, she can also be vulnerable and learns that this is not a weakness which is such an important message.
The book explores a lot of topics I did not expect to be reading about and, while I felt it was a lot heavier than I had anticipated, I love how Elle Kennedy wrote about them. Specifically, domestic abuse and grief. I cried and laughed and really felt for the characters in the book. I think these darker themes were tackled perfectly and reading how they affected Diana and Shane made me love them even more.
The smut was SMUTTING! I loved the spice in this book, especially the exploration of kinks.
I would LOVE a book about Will especially. Please and thank you.
Tropes in The Dixon Rule:
-enemies to lovers
-fake dating
-new adult romance
-forced proximity
-overcoming trauma
-hockey player x cheerleader
-SPICE 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I will be posting my review on goodreads and Instagram on 7th May - @emjawaysbookshelf
I really enjoyed the relationship between Diane and Shane, who doesn't love a good enemies to lovers vibe? But I was slightly disappointed that this wasn't about one of the OG's, since that's what was sold to us for this series.
Diana and Shane
Okay I have really mixed feelings about this book
On the one hand, I absolutely loved Diana and Shane's story! Fake relationship trope is one of my absolute favourites so I loved this!!
I love their connection and how they support each other's dreams and goals!!
However, I thought this was meant to be a 2nd gen series and neither Shane or Diana are children of the OGs? But if you can overlook this part, the book is really great!
I'm so excited to find out who the next book is about 😍
Oh my god. I loved the Dixon Rule so much. This book was everything. It had romance, HOT spicy scenes, humour, friendship, bickering, family, heartbreak, danger and pain (this book explores heavier topics). I didn’t expect to laugh and cry with this novel, and now I have the biggest book hangover 😭❤️
Diana and Shane constantly bicker and push each other’s boundaries. When both of their exes come into the picture, they start a fake relationship. I have NO idea how the enemies to lovers spin worked with the fake dating, but it did!
I loved seeing the slow relationship development and how they could be their true selves with each other 🥰🥹 their bickering and banter never stopped and I was LIVING for the HOA meetings.
Everyone needs to seriously read this book because this has to be Elle’s hottest book to date. I highly recommend for an emotional sports romance 💜
I’ll be posting my review on goodreads and Instagram on the 2nd of May!

After reading the Off Campus series, I have been absolutely obsessed with the Campus Diaries series.
I absolutely devoured this book! Elle Kennedy knows have to do a sports romance better then anyone. Shane is a gorgeous, deep, sexy man with a heart of gold, and Diana is the FMC that i needed, she is sassy, confident but also sensitive.
This book, doesnt only contain an amazing plot and goregous smut, but also has deeper themes which I think Elle tackled excellently. This was brilliant and I cannot wait to see what Elle brings out next... I cannot decided whose story I need next all i know is I need one.

Elle Kennedy remains the queen of hockey romances for me, although this actually takes place in the teams off season so we don’t get much on-page hockey - BUT, Kennedy switches this one up with DANCE LESSONS and holy moly I ate it up!!
Shane and Diana swept me off my feet, I LOVE THEM! And I’m here with the fake dating again - this trope is my kryptonite and it can do no wrong for me, I devour them! Kennedy executed this one to PERFECTION!
Kennedy continues to get that flanter right EVERY SINGLE TIME while still managing to cover some pretty serious topics - and doing it well!!! (check TW’s if you are sensitive to certain topics)
The smut was SMUTTING!! And ughhhhmahgawwwwd the KINKS 🥵❤️🔥
This is going to be an amazing summer read and thankyou so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC of this one! I can’t wait for it to join my Elle Kennedy collection 💞
Love, love, love!!! The Dixon Rile is Elle Kennedy at its best! The tension, the banter and the characters were just soooo good. I adored the fake dating and the dance competition plotline. Overall a great book, that I can’t wait to own a physical copy of and reread again and again.
Also, I cannot wait for Will’s story, I really hope that’s the next one in the spin off series!
Summary: Diana finds herself in an unexpected situation when Shane names her as his fake girlfriend, leading to surprising chemistry between them.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book, all thoughts are my own.
I read my first Elle Kennedy book about 7/8 years ago and reading The Dixon Rule reminded me why she’s the queen of addictive contemporary romance!
I adored the tension and the banter between the 2 main characters and I was honestly hooked from the first page. The fake dating worked perfectly alongside the more emotional sub-plots. Elle is incredible at fitting in a variety of sub-plots alongside a fun, spicy romance into a relatively short book. I thoroughly enjoyed the development in Diana and Shane’s relationship and the ending was perfect for them too.
The Dixon Rule is the second book in the Campus Diaries series by Elle Kennedy. While it can technically be read as standalone this series features the second generation of her most well known series Off-Campus. I’d highly recommend checking out that series first and it will make this one much more enjoyable.
I really liked the first book featuring Gigi and Ryder but I now I think I like Diana and Shane more! This fake-dating, steamy, fun to read story has laugh out loud moments, sweet romance, angst and more.
Tropes include:
- Fake dating
- Sports romance
- Overcoming trauma
- Steamy
- New adult romance
- Forced proximity
I’ve been a long time fan of Elle Kennedy and this new series is up there with the best. Do yourself a favor and get to know this author.
I will post the above review on Amazon Australia site on release day. Thank you for an arc of this book.
i really enjoyed this book! i loved shane and dianas fierce “rivaly” energy because it made the tension SO thick and the their chemistry was through the roof. i think the plot with the dance competition was cute but kinda felt forgotten at times and maybe a bit underdeveloped, HOWEVER the scenes where it was mentioned and their final performance was hot hot hot! I loved all the appearances from past books. (john tucker & garrett graham imy) i appreciate the anxiety rep with diana but felt that definitely should have been explored a bit more. i also liked the importance of highlighting the effects of domestic abuse and grief & how supportive both shane and diana were for eachother when they were going through such hardships! their relations was very sweet and spicy and overall it was a fun and very enjoyable read!
thank you so much for the arc!💓
