This book absolutely hooked me and didn’t let me go! After book one’s cliffhanger, I was interested in book 2 but I didn’t think that it would literally terminate me.

Court of Claws continued the fantastic adventure of Morgan Pendragon and a new fave man, Kairos Draven as they take on a completely different continent and a new courtly intrigue.

I loved learning more about Kairos Draven and his backstory and just getting to know this handsome man! The Court of Umbral Flames was bloodthirsty, wild, but so much fun! But also, they have clap lights? That did make me laugh out loud. *clap,clap*

I think this book really held my interest because our dear Morgan started to grow her own claws (👀👀) especially after her naïveté got the best of her in book 1.. but in this book she has to really become a bit more backboned in the Court of Umbral Flames. Especially with everyone out to get her and Kairos!

The evolution of Morgan and Draven’s relationship was *chefs kiss*. Again, I will reiterate WHO DOESNT LOVE A MAN WHO WILL KILL AND DIE FOR HIS LADY?! and Draven is definitely one of those men. I’m obsessed.

I mean … “But I see you, Morgan Pendragon. I see you truly for everything you are and everything you will be and I claim you as mine.” Woof. Just let me faint.

Now does this book end a bit more on a heartbreaking note?! YES. Was I absolutely ready for book three? YES. Did I devour book three instantly after book two?! YES. This series just keeps giving and giving!

As a gentle reminder - if you need to, read those trigger warnings again. It is still a DARK fae romance.

I utterly adored this book! It’s a loose Arthurian retelling, but with fae and other things I shan’t spoil. It kept me utterly enthralled from start to finish. Morgan is a Badass with a capital B!

Do check your triggers before reading, as there are some darker parts but if you aren’t triggered READ THIS. Seriously, drop everything and read it. It’s that good! I promise you won’t regret it!

Wow that certainly was a court of claws! This book was more like a thriller fantasy romance, there was always a bombshell being dropped in the court of claws. I feel like I could spend so much more time with the people in this book and going into the dreams with a bit more detail. I feel like this book has set the stage for an epic book 3!

This is probably one of the best enemies to lovers series I’ve read – the miscommunication between them only adds to the tension and actually gives you plenty of relevant plot information instead of just leaving you frustrated.

The depictions of the Umbral Flames palace were vivid and creative, I could picture it immediately and thought it was really cool. Give me a burning inferno underground palace over sparkling glass and marble any day!

The characters translate really well into book two as well. They’re all brilliantly written, well-rounded and believable. Even the villainous characters are great because they really make you feel something. I also liked how Morgan never ‘forgot’ about Kaye, she kept trying to get back to him rather than just being completely distracted and forgetting him like some books tend to have their protagonists do.

(SLIGHT SPOILER): I’m exceptionally pleased with how things are left at the end with Morgan and Kairos... Hey, I’m all for a morally grey character but oh my god, it’s literally betrayal after betrayal with him, there is no trust and he totally doesn’t deserve her in the slightest at this point. Extreme dub-con, actually more like non-con with the whole marriage thing. I hope he’s miserable in the next book.

Would 100% recommend for any romantasy readers, but as with my review of book one, pay very close attention to the trigger warnings listed in the book!!

i dont think there is enough words to explain how amazingly good this book was!!!! Briar has gone and done it again!!

this is once again an enemies to lovers trope, filled with romance, magic. amazing chemistry! not to mention heartbreak! the twist and turns will have you needing to put the book down to catch your breath! tons more spice and the fire that burns well and truly delivers

Dark fantasy romance!! Fae twist! it picks up right were the last book left off... (if you know you know) with the FMC Morgan waking in an unknown place in a bed that she doesnt know whos it is! she quickly learns that she has to play the game in order to be able to save camelot from her brother!

This book leaves you needing/wanting/screaming for more!!! i kept trying to get to the next page!! this book will end before you are ready for it to be over, in a way that will make you scream! cannot wait to dive into book 3!!!

overall i was pulled into this book and didnt want to be let out. please remember to read the triggers warnings this book is a dark romance book and the author put them there to help you protect yourself!!!.

This book has me on the fence, do I think this is an epic tale that had me reaching for the next one ?
YES.

But I did feel like the main character took two steps back for majority of this book, she was independent in the last book but kind of blended into the walls.

Draven on the other hand- this was totally his story you learn his secrets. Past and failures. I think this book is amazing in showing that but I felt like his people were gossiping about him too much and he let them. He went from a hulking shadow people were scared of to the prince of gossip. Still not sure how I feel
About that one.

But all in all this is a great book and a book two that held a lot of questions that were answered and makes me on the fence on what will happen in the next book due to the twists given in this books ending.

Court of Claws was not what I was expecting. Thrilling, adventure, love, and loss all tied up into one book. I started it around 7am this morning and could not put it down. Boleyn does an amazing job with character development and world building. There were some parts that felt a little like Valaris (ACOTAR Night Court) to me which honestly, I loved. She did a wonderful job creating a new world with tropes and ideas used in other popular books.

This book is a 4.5 star read for me. My heart was broken by the end but then hope blossomed in the last few pages. I can't wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens next.

Court of Claws is book 2 in the Blood of Fae series and while I was happy to read it and continue on my journey with Morgan, I did not enjoy it as much as the first. I felt that the language was unnecessarily strong when it didn't need to be, and that Morgans attitude was a bit off compared to book one. However, I do realize that this is a series and characters change throughout their journey, so I am looking forward to reading book 3.

Queen of Roses (Book 1), Court of Claws (Book 2), Empress of Fae (Book 3), and the final installment, Knight of the Goddess (Book 4) are all part of a series by Briar Boleyn. If you are a fan of the ACTAR series, I highly recommend you give these a chance.  I received these ARC ebooks from and want to thank, NetGalley, Starwater Press, and Briar Boleyn, for providing them to me to read and review.  The third one caught my attention first, but to read it, I needed to read the prior two. Ok...how hard could that be?  While reading Queen of Roses, and getting to know the characters and the setting, I was intrigued, but not overly so and I anticipated this being just an ok series.  Then came the second book, Court of Claws, oh wow! It took off and I dove right into the third one, Empress of Fae, even though it was well past midnight.  The third book ended on a cliffhanger, leaving me anticipating the fourth and final book, Knight of the Goddess. As with the others, Boleyn doesn't spare our feelings and intrigues the reader through unexpected twists. The ending was...wow! Boy was it worth the wait! While I'll miss these characters and following their story, I eagerly anticipate what fabulous new adventure Briar Boleyn has in store for us next.  While you may be able to read one as a stand-alone, I would highly recommend you start from the beginning and read them all from the start.

This series has kept me hooked as it progresses. The twists and shock factors do not disappoint. Immediately jumping into Empress of Fae!

Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fake dating, newfound powers, and spice. Need I say any more?

I will say this book dragged a little bit more than the first, but still great!

Book kicks off with Morgan waking up in a bed that's not hers in an unfamiliar kingdom as Draven's consort. In order to return home and save her own kingdom from her brother she knows she has to play along with the lies Draven has made up. There is a lot of miscommunication between Morgan and Draven and Morgan comes across as very immature at times.
- Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, fantasy romance (romantasy) with mythical creatures, betrayal, secrets and unexpected twists in the story.
-It did drag a bit throughout a lot of the book and I feel like a lot of things were over explained or repeated more than necessary.

Wow!!

Firstly, I would like to thank Briar Boleyn, Net Galley and Starwater Press for the opportunity to read this novel!

I think this book blew the first one out of the water! Like many of my favourite series you have to get through the first world building book to get to the good stuff!!

This is an incredible story! My favourite part is the emotions you feel as a reader; I love when a book makes me laugh out loud, cry, stomp my feet and want to throw a book across the room- this has accomplished all those emotions! I love seeing the grown and maturing in Morgan! I am most excited to see the development with Draven though!!

Can’t wait to dive into book #3!!

Another great instalment in the series! I'm really enjoying Morgan as an MC and thought her character development in this book was very well done. Whilst I did love getting to know more about Draven, he did leave me just a bit frustrated at times, but fortunately Morgan gave him hell for it. The ending was insane and I shall be starting book three very soon!

This is the second book in the series and although it is quite different from the first, I found it very interesting and easy to read. I enjoyed the vivid imagery and a lot of cool new monsters were introduced in this book.

One thing I found a bit off putting was the language in this one seemed worse than in the first. I don’t mind swearing in books, and didn't even really notice in the first one, but sometimes it felt unnecessary in this one and took away from situations rather than adding to them.

I’m excited to read the rest in the series and see how they wrap up the story!

I read this in one sitting again, much like the first book in this series it is such an easy and addicting read! I loved this book more than the first, lots of adventure, building relationships and betrayal, with hints of romance throughout. Draven is super loveable, as is Morgan and I loved seeing where their relationship would go! Again this ends on a cliffhanger and keeps you eager to learn what happened next!

I recommend this series to anyone who is trying to get into fantasy and if you already enjoy the telling of King Arthur!

This book picked up right where Queen of Roses left off, and let me tell you - I could NOT put it down!

While book one focused on world building, character development, and an introduction to the story, book two propelled us full blast into the action. This entire book is packed with high stakes, twists, turns, and surprises. It’s also an exploration of a new world and a journey of self discovery for Morgan. She learns more about her lineage, she develops new relationships, and the spice starts to get spicing 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Throw in mythical creatures, hidden agendas, a death match, elemental magic, and secret marriages and it makes for an incredibly shocking cliffhanger! I started book three immediately because my heart couldn’t handle it. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it! ❤️‍🔥

This was such a great continuation and part two of Blood of a Fae. The lore of Queen of Roses gets explained while at the same time even more lore gets uncovered, and I'm eager to know all about it. While the first book focused more on Morgan's world, we now get dragged into Draven's world which is surprisingly similar in terms of cruelty, just a lot more fae.

Who doesn't love a frustratingly good fake relationship trope. I sure do. 😏 Problem is that Draven and Morgan faked a little too close to the sun and Morgan is actually thoroughly confused about what's fake and what isn't. With Draven not making it crystal clear to her that his professions are true, not staged, and Morgan continuously lying to herself about her own intentions, things really become a tangled mess between the two. The slow burn between Draven and Morgan was definitely burning a bit more this time - and when it did, it was magnificent. And boy does the Prince of Claws have a way with words. 🌶️

The fighting between Draven & Morgan was both great and frustrating. So much anger and fire (hehe, get it? fire) in our princess. Sometimes you wish she would see Draven's side of things a little more, but at the same time you can't really blame her when she's constantly left in the dark until the very end. We all know these two can't really stay away from each other too long before sparks start flying and I'm here for it. I do appreciate that even in the middle of the arguing and miscommunication, secrets don't get dragged out (aside from the obvious). It can get so frustrating when the FMC discovers something and then refuses to share this with the other person for half the book 🙈, but this doesn't happen.

In the first book book I noted that Morgan was a little naive and lacked the confidence to stand up for herself, but she really came out of her shell in this one. Being dragged across worlds against your will on the brink of death does the trick, apparently. She was feisty and I loved it.

Not unimportant to note: I loved the side characters in this book so much! And I sped through the entire book in 2 days. At the end of the book, so much happened that I'm still a bit confused as to what is going on when we leave them. I can't wait to see what's next though, because I have so many questions. 👀
