The third book in this series. A wonderful heart warming saga.
Well written characters and a storyline i was sucked into immediately.
A cozy and enjoyable read.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Weaver Street #3
The neighbours on Liverpool's Weaver Street have always looked after each other, but when WWII takes many of the husbands, brothers, and sons away to fight, the women's friendships are more important than ever. Matriarch Kitty Conlon is missing her son Patrick, proud but fearful of the fate of his spitfire, while sinister Mavis welcomes a new lodger, WAAF Anna Carswell, who is delighted with the Weaver Street Welcome after a loveless childhood. At number 9, Maggie Stubbs worries nightly as her daughter Lily patrols the streets to protect the neighbours during the air raids in her role as ARP Warden, and when an unexploded bomb is discovered at the allotment, danger comes terrifying close.
This book will mess with all your emotions. This well-written story was so easy to read. The characters are well-developed and likeable. We learn how the women helped each other during the war.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #ChrissieWalsh for my ARC of #WeaverStreetAtWar in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book, real life in the war years. The characters came to life and you felt you were there. Loved all the characters and their quirks. I’m sorry it’s come to an end.
As the fighting gets closer to home, the women of Weaver Street need each other more than ever.
Liverpool 1941.
WAAF Anna Carswell along with her kitbag in uniform steps off the train at Lime Street Station.
It's her first time in Liverpool, this is her birth town on her adoption papers, it's all looking dismal and depressing as she travels on the tram to Edge Hill and Weaver street she is Miss Mavis Robson's new lodger.
Her new job as a teleprinter operator at Derby house and careless talks costs lives as the saying goes, and she was going to enjoy living and working here and her thoughts are never far away thinking of Ross Penhaligon serving in the RAF.
Oh what a beautiful story to be told, I love the Weaver Street series, as all the neighbour come together, in troubles, such a wonderful book from the first chapter right through to the end.
Was nice to read a different side to weaver street, the new and old characters merge together very nicely and I honestly couldn’t put the book down, descriptive written and a fantastic storyline what more do you need
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I loved being back in Weaver Street, meeting up with the characters.
Anna is the newcomer to the street, and is living with Mavis. But she feels that everyone is nice and friendly.
As the war is continuing, and friendships are formed, will Anna and Lily be lucky in love?
The story was well written and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I recommend this book.
A great installment to this series. Enjoyed the characters and the storyline including the new character.. love this heartwarming saga
I loved this book. The new character Anna was lovely and had a rich back story. It was lovely to catch up with regular characters and find out how WWII was treating them. I suspect this was the last in the series, but, I'd love to know what happens a few years down the line. I feel like I've spent time with friends whilst reading this series.
Weaver Street at War by Chrissie Walsh
The third outing for the residents of Weaver Street and they are now at war.
A new resident Anna lodges on the street and makes friends with Lily and Mavis.
Bombs rain down in Liverpool , but Anna , Lily and Mavis come together and form a wonderfully , heartfelt friendship and come together at a time they need it most
Gives a perfect insight to what life was like during the war, especially for all the loved ones left at home.
I’m sure there are many who wouldn’t have coped without the love and friendship of those roundabout.
Anna Carwell was adopted as a baby by a couple who neither loved nor cared for her, so when she was billited with Mavis Robson in Weaver Street she could never have foreseen her good fortune. That’s not to say that she didn’t still have some upsets, especially when one neighbour showed a strange interest in her!
Back with her usual charm and routine tea mornings is Kitty, who usually keeps everyone in order, especially Maggie.
There are husbands, wives, sons and daughters playing their part in the war effort either with the forces, munition factories, ARP etc.
So there is information relating to them all, I found it really interesting. I never fail to be amazed by how little people were expected to get by on with rationing, especially when people today think they are hard done by.
My favourite character has to be Mavis, least favourite was Rachel Dyson for obvious reasons.
Loved it! If you didn’t guess already but I loved this book! Like honestly I’m in such awe of these characters, the plot and meanings portrayed. It’s exceptional. I will very likely be placing an order for the physical copy when it becomes available and in the meantime hope to read some more of this authors work!
Weaver street at war is the 3rd book in the weaver street series, and a great catch up with all the streets residents. Anna carswell is a WAAF stationed in Liverpool and has found lodgings in weaver Street, where she finds not only friends but a whole new family, and also falls in love. The book also continues the other residents stories, of life, love and loss. A great read as usual from Chrissie Walsh
Great to catch up with the lives of the Weaver street families. Anna Carswell joins the street as a lodger and I soon welcomed into the families that she’s proud to call her own.
She soon finds friends in Lily and Mavis after an unhappy upbringing and a broken heart.
But as the war rages on can Anna and Lily find love among the debris of Liverpool when the bombs are determined to destroy the city and the people.
Fantastically written and loved visiting the characters again old and new.
A sweet and heartwarming story of a street full of charming characters trying to survive the ravages of WWII Liverpool. I’d like more.
Another great story of friendship, community, and the challenges faced by women during wartime, as the women of Weaver Street support each other through the trials and tribulations of the Second World War.
Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc
Another brilliant book in this series can’t get enough of these books and don’t want them to finish
Outstanding - laughs, tears, this book will give you it all! The chapter about interrupting the Catholic Mass for the need to go into the shelter had tears streaming down my face! My only negative is that like the last book it went quickly through the years which worries me that the series will soon be over! The characters are all so well described and you can't help but feel like you know them personally.
Brilliantly written, I was gutted to finish it last night!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publishers for allowing me to read and review this Arc copy. Roll on the next in the series!
This is not my typical go to book, but I really enjoyed it. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this.
