This was such a cute YA book that I read in the summer (I am so behind with my reviews but Iโm getting there๐
) it really reminded me of Better Than The Movies, it had that same vibe about it!
I was rooting for the characters and I really liked that it took place over the last month of high school, such an interesting/weird and crazy time where everything really starts to change and it totally took me back to that time in my life too when I was reading it, which was fun!
This is boy next door and friends to lovers tropes which I love!
Definitely check it out if youโre looking for a (slightly) more grown up YA but still so super sweet and fun!
โMina has a stern face, long braid, and an attitude that has only got worse since her dad died.
Caplan is the golden boy, complete with a vast social circle and an on-again/off-again girlfriend who hates Minaโs guts.
Theyโre neighbours and somehow, despite all their differences, have always understood each other the most. But then in the last few weeks of high school, everything turns on its head. Itโs a shock when Caplanโs best-friend Quinn confesses he wants to take Mina to the prom. Itโs an even bigger shock when she says yes.
With the social hierarchy out the window and everybody on the brink of a new beginning, Mina finds herself opening up in ways she was too anxious to before. It turns out, everyone thinks sheโs pretty cool. But just because Minaโs relationship with the world is changing, it doesnโt mean anything has to change between her and Caplanโs relationship. . . right?โ

This book was so devour-able, I sat down to read this in my garden one day and then a couple of hours later Iโd finished!
It was written in a dual POV which I loved; it allowed to see the insights of both the female and male main characters. I loved that although the male character seemed like mr popular on the outside he had totally different thoughts on the inside.
The dynamic between the two was adorable; the boy next door/opposites attract/friends to lovers. The story as a whole was so heartwarming and addictive I thoroughly enjoyed and will be looking for more by this author.
I absolutely loved this book. It had shades of Stephen Chbosky, Jandy Nelson, Jenny Han, and - my old-school fave - Sarah Dessen, but was also something entirely its own.
We're following Mina and Caplan: next door neighbours, best friends since childhood, and complete and total opposites in every way. Caplan's the school golden boy, Mina's the wallflower. As they navigate the final month of their senior year of high school, and all the nostalgia and growing pains that the end of something always brings, we watch in dual POV as Mina and Caplan reckon with the fact that things can't always stay the same - including their easy-going relationship.
This isn't so much a romance - it's more a coming of age. Not just for Mina and Caplan either, but for all of the fully realised, gorgeously rendered, very real characters. I loved the secondary characters just as much as our main duo - in particular Queen Bee Hollis and loveable class clown Quinn. Daisy Garrison perfectly taps in to that feeling of wanting to freeze and extend the moment, even when you're in it. This book is the best kind of bittersweet, and I adored it.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to NetGalley!
I liked the story, I was longing for a high school story because, besides the many fantasy books, this was a refreshing break. At first glance, one might think that this will be a book about the life of ordinary teenagers, but in fact, as we progress more and more in the plot, it becomes obvious that it is much more than that.
Two people who were brought together by life at an early age, an almost inseparable bond developed between them. They couldn't be more different and yet complement each other perfectly. Mina teaches Caplan to read, and the boy does everything he can to keep her safe. The years go by and it's the last month of high school. Then things change and neither of them knows what the right decision is...
I fell into a nostalgic mood because high school had the same sense of life as it did in my time. There were bullies here, and they were cool, and there were a few who were shy and teased for a while. If someone wanted to bully, it doesn't matter what the root cause was... And the question of preparing for graduation, further education, what clothes to wear to graduation... Many, many memories, and how distant it seems in retrospect...
I recommend it to those who like high school stories and enjoy being nostalgic. This book got โ

A very cute fun read. It had me sat in the same space for hours till I devoured it all. Mina was fun quirky and relatable. It was a very well written coming of age book. Lovedddd caplan. My only flaw was the book seemed more slow paced than I wouldโve liked. But I loved the bitter sweet aspect of growing up.
The book follows Mina and Caplan as they navigate their last year of high school. Caplan and Mina are childhood best friends and couldnโt be anymore different. Mina is the academic excellent student / valedictorian while Caplan is your typical popular athlete whoโs set to be prom king.
When Caplanโs friend confesses a crush on Mina , she finds herself integrating into Caplanโs circle. On the other hand , Caplan finds himself dealing with new unexpected emotions. Doesnโt he consider Mina to be only a friend and nothing more ?
Meanwhile Mina is working out what she wants for the future. Everyone expects her to go to Yale, her late father's alma mater, but she's not sure that's what she wants anymore. As graduation approaches, both Caplan and Mina have to work out what they want for the future and if their friendship could be something more.
I thought it was a beautiful heartwarming story. I found the characters to be fresh and authentic. I think itโs a perfect YA coming of age story. It perfectly captures the emotional ups and downs of the last days of high school, taking you back to those final weeks and making you feel really nostalgic. The author does a brilliant job in adding depth to the characterโs backstories. They are not flawless , which ultimately makes them more loveable and relatable. The drama is engaging, I found myself hooked and fullly immersed as things unfolded.
Hollisโs character and her growth really stood out to me. She wasnโt just a stereotypical mean queen bee , she was an authentic , multi dimensional person who wasnโt all bad. I appreciated how it explored sensitive topics brilliantly. I related to Mina a lot too. I found the spicy scenes a bit unnecessary seeing as they didnโt really add anything to the story. Caplan and Minaโs story was a delightful romance I finished in 2 days. It does deal with sensitive topics so Iโd recommend checking TWs.

If you've been following my reviews for a while I've been having a battle with YA romance. I used to adore it but over the last few years I've struggled with a lot of them and started to lose hope that that genre wasn't for me anymore however Six More Months of June reignited my love for it and reminded me what is so good and enjoyable about the genre.
This was a fun, fast-paced and incredibly realistic story about teenagers who are coming to the end of high school and coming to terms with a lot of things in their lives. These characters are authentic and even though I'm from the UK I still felt like I could relate a lot to them and the experiences and situations they find themselves in.
I really liked Mina and Caplan and their relationship. I loved how much they've helped and supported each other through the years and I really liked getting the flashback scenes of the two dealing with trauma and struggles and them just being there for each other.
While this is a romance novel it does deal with some dark themes so I would recommend looking at the trigger warnings before picking this one up. I will say though it was handled with sensitivity and a lot of care!
This was a great YA romance which I definitely recommend picking up if you're a fan of the genre! It's also perfect for the summer so go pick it up!!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was so much fun, I finished it in one sitting. It was like sheโs all that meets 10 things i hate about you but make it a bit trashier and a lot more chaotic. It was a fun time, it was a silly time, I ate it up and it almost definitely put me in a book hangover lmao I will deffo be reading whatever this author puts out next!
As someone who is from Belgium and had a completely different high school system, I somehow relate to how the characters felt.
I wasn't part of any real friend group during high school until the last few months, so Mina was relatable for me! The imposter syndrome is real.
It was a fun and relatable read, written in a way that reads easily.
DNF at 23%.
Last time I DNFed a book was forever ago because I rarely do so. Still, I couldn't get over the mentions of sex in a book that's supposed to be YA.
I also get that the because it's YA I'm not really supposed to relate to the characters and their interactions but I just found it hard to get past the immaturity of it all and the language.
I really wanted to love it because friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes but I had to call it quits.

โJune of senior year is like Neverland.โ
6 More Months Of June was a total surprise. The first impression that book gave me is the nostalgia, a lingering cloud which fills the pages. Itโs a coming of age book in the most literal way, in which the teenagers are already nostalgic from โBeforeโ while eager for โAfterโ. That month of June is the transition, when the chrysalid turns into a butterfly.
Even if my highschool years are way behind me, the story made its job to invoke such feelings in me. I donโt know why, but I kept thinking about Dawsonโs Creek while reading (yes, Iโm that old). Yet, this book is also a lot more than that. I got caught by my emotions and let the story carry me away, while witnessing all the struggle Mina and Caplan have to face. Yes, there is a lot of highschool drama, but there is more to see here, and thatโs the interesting part of the story. Everything is described with subtlety, and tact, some tenderness and sometimes a pinch of rage, using a very beautiful style.
I loved both characters, with their behavior typical of their age, yet very mature for other things. The reading part was absolutely gorgeous, about Caplan but also Minaโs mother. These parts gave me goosebumps and made me pour tears more than once.
(potential spoilers) if I understand the ending, and the choice not to make an epilogue, to let the road of life โand its potential twists and turnsโ open in front of these young adults, my autistic brain prefers closed endings. But thatโs a very personal remark, and in the end, that choice was very empowering to Mina.
Thank you very much NetGalley, Daisy Garrison and Hachette Childrenโs Group for this ARC. My opinions are my own.

tropes; romance, high school, best friends-to-lovers, popular boy/"nerdy" girl,
I really liked this book!
I loved seeing the different sides to all the friendships and I loved seeing the romance between Mina and Caplan develop.
I also loved pretty much all of the characters in this, even the ones I thought I'd hate.
I think this was a very well rounded book with well rounded characters, the only thing I'd say is that I wish it was a little bit longer and maybe a little more in-depth and fleshed out.
It was very fast paced and the writing was easy to follow, the story as a whole was really enjoyable.
I really loved this book and I definitely recommend checking it out! - check trigger warnings.

This book would have changed my life if I read it at 15.
I thought this was a beautifully written coming of age story. It's a nice, short read that is perfect for a palette cleanser between heavier books.
The book follows Mina and Caplan as they navigate their last year of high school before college, reflecting on how they became friends and their journey since.
In my opinion, this is a beautiful portrayal of human nature. None of the characters are flawless. Each of them have flaws and often unattractive traits but that only forms to make them more relatable and loveable in this case.

I had a problem with the file originally but managed to sort it out!
It's a cute story of friends to lovers which I've come to enjoy recently. A perfect YA coming of age to read in between all of the horror/thriller books I read. You need a nice little change up every now and then.
DNF Review
Unfortunately, despite its cute sounding premise, the pace just felt too slow for me.
This was a lovely escapist read and I loved the high school vibes of it all. All of the characters were relatable and really easy to get to know - Hollis, Quinn, the Mums, Caplan, Mina, everyone really. I liked the early call out to Harry Potter and how it was a bonding experience for Caplan and Mina, that was really sweet. I also appreciated how it touched on a few difficult subjects throughout but in really sensitive ways. I would love to know what happens next but also like to make my own ending and live in the what-ifs.

Mina and Caplan are opposites who have become the best of friends, they understand each other more than anyone else ever could.
Mina is the academic type, whilst Caplan is the popular boy with a girlfriend who hates his best friend! Everything changes when one of Caplan's friends asks if he can ask Mina to prom.
I really enjoyed this YA romance! The characters and friendships were believable. I liked Mina and Caplan as well as the other main supporting characters, Quinn and Hollis.
It does cover some topics some may not be as comfortable with so I would check the trigger warnings. I do feel they are dealt with in a sensitive and real way.
The book was the perfect coming of age story which I was thinking about when I wasn't reading. A great summer YA romance which I would highly recommend! (Not long to wait either as it comes out on Thursday!)
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read the ARC of this book.
Fully accept Iโm not the target audience! I liked this but didnโt love it. Very US centric: too much not relatable for the UK.
Grateful for the ARC but this really didn't do it for me. One week later and nothing of it has stuck with me.
Oh this was such a fun read for this time of the year! I loved the characters and their journey. While reading this story I relived my last month of high school. It was such a fun, quick, cute read. I highly recommend this one if you're looking for a new YA read!

This story captures the exhilarating highs and messy lows that come with the end of high school, offering an immersive experience that's hard to put down.
Mina, with her stern face, long braid, and attitude worsened by her dad's passing, is far from the typical high school girl. Caplan, the golden boy with a vast social circle and a complicated on-again/off-again girlfriend, couldn't be more different. Yet, as neighbours, they've always had a unique understanding of each other.
In the final weeks of high school, everything changes. Caplan's best friend, Quinn, surprises everyone by asking Mina to the prom, and even more surprising, she says yes. As the social hierarchy crumbles and new beginnings loom, Mina starts to open up in ways she never imagined, discovering a newfound confidence. But amidst all these changes, will Mina and Caplan risk their friendship for love, or remain just friends?
This book had me hooked from the very first page. Mina's journey from grief and insecurity to self-discovery and confidence is beautifully written. Caplanโs internal struggles and growth are equally compelling. The dual narrative provides a deep understanding of both characters, making their chemistry and eventual romantic tension all the more satisfying. The twist with Quinn adds an interesting dynamic, shaking up the predictable high school hierarchy and pushing Mina out of her comfort zone.
Six More Months of June is a delightful read, brimming with heart, humour, and the bittersweet reality of growing up. If you love YA romances with well-crafted characters and a storyline that keeps you guessing, this book is a must-read!
