4 easy stars for this dark, twisted, fast paced roller coaster of a psychological thriller. The writing is superb, the narration is brilliant and the plot is pristine. We know I love it when I don’t get the twist don’t we? I DIDN’T! I inhaled this today!
You don’t want to miss this!
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins audio U.K. for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.
Dude, it has been awhile since a thriller made me gasp aloud at a twist, but Mary Kubica has done it. This had me with my jaw hanging open. And not just once! The turns this took. Wowza, is all I can say.
Meghan is a nurse, caring for a patient who has narrowly survived a suicide attempt. But the more she speaks to the family, the more she wonders if maybe something more sinister sent the young woman over the railway bridge.
Thanks to netgalley for the audiobook!
Perfect for fans of Samantha Downing and Peter Swanson.
What an absolutely astounding thought provoking interesting compelling read.
I really enjoyed listening to this and the narrator Andi Arndt kept this authors book alive and moving forward for us the reader not to stall at all….hence I finished this within two days.
Meghan is a nurse in a hospital, and it’s hard to keep unemotionally involved but she works at it every day. Until……she cannot.
She has a daughter and an ex.
She sometimes gets lonely.
As a mom she’s always concerned about her daughter and whereabouts especially when things start to happen…..
I didn’t guess anything appertaining to the girl Caitlin who arrives one day into the hospital in a coma, there was no need. That became interesting as events unfolded as did her ex in the latter part of the story.
I can’t say enough how very invested I was in this, a very satisfying conclusion which was maybe not right however understandable.
How far would you go?
I had such a great time losing myself in this gripping thriller, which had so many twists and turns by the end it was hard to tell which way was up!
Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse charged with caring for a patient named Caitlin, in a coma after jumping from a bridge. When a witness discloses that someone was with Caitlin when she fell, Meghan's life starts to fall into disarray as she is pulled into the life of Caitlin and her family, and her professional boundaries are tested. Was Caitlin pushed? And by whom?
Finishing this audiobook gave me the feeling of stepping off a roller coaster. The pacing of the first half of the book feels intentionally slow, building such a sense of suspense and tension and a rich understanding of the characters. However the author cleverly subverts readers in the second half with twist after shocking twist, leaving you second guessing everything you thought you knew. It had the perfect balance of tension and suspense throughout, with plenty of clues, red herrings, twists and turns which makes for a perfectly compelling whodunnit. Mary Kubica is a new to me author who I have been meaning to read, and I'm looking forward to exploring her other works!
The narration by Ani Ardnt was exceptionally expressive and really helped build the suspense and tension. The character voices were rich and distinct, and she did a great job of portraying the sinister undertones and emotional experiences of the characters.
I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for twisty and suspenseful thriller, particularly fans of Lisa Jewell and Freida McFadden.
Thank you Harper Collins UK Audio and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
Captivated by the allure of this thriller, I found myself immediately drawn into its world of suspense and mystery. From the very beginning, the premise intrigued me, promising a story that would linger in my thoughts long after the final page.
As I journeyed through the narrative, I became completely absorbed, unable to look away from the twists and turns unfolding with each chapter. The author's ability to keep me guessing, to maintain a sense of tension, was truly remarkable.
While certain aspects of the story didn't resonate with me, I still found myself invested in the overall narrative.
Other elements of the story more than made up for any shortcomings. The plot was meticulously crafted, with surprises awaiting at every turn, delivering the thrilling experience I anticipated from a thriller. Each revelation left me eagerly anticipating what would come next.
This thriller offers me an enthralling ride through its world of suspense and mystery. With its unexpected twists and heart-pounding suspense, it has kept me captivated, reaffirming my admiration for the author's storytelling prowess.
A nurse, a woman in a coma after falling from a bridge…..
Single mother of a teenage daughter, Meghan Michael, is an ICU nurse at a hospital in Chicago and finds herself taking care of Caitlin, a woman in a coma who was found on train tracks. It appears she had jumped from the bridge above. Meghan doesn’t get attached to her patients, but time she gets too close.
I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up this gripping and shocking book. I recommend going into this book knowing as little as possible about the plot. Whew! I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing this book to life.
I had so many questions swirling through my head while reading this book. I did my best to try and figure things out. I loved being shocked by the big twist and reveal in the book! WOWZA!
I found this book to be so well done, brilliantly written, and well thought out! There are plenty of twists and turns along the way with some jaw dropping moments. As the book progresses, the tension slowly builds until the dramatic, pulse pounding ending. Hats off to Kubica for pulling everything off so effortlessly.
Highly recommend.
Book Review:
The book is mind blowing and the kind of book where everyone has a secret but you can’t predict how deadly someone’s secret is. The plot is brilliant. The ending will raise questions in your mind. It has infinite possibilities and the author left it to the readers imagination. The book is filled with truth, secrets and twists and turns.
Meghan Michaels is a single mother of a sixteen year old daughter. She always tried to find someone’s company while the distance grew between Ben and Meghan after the divorce. He only came for his daughter. While Meghan is trying to balance her personal and professional life both but when one of her patient suspiciously dies, her death brings Meghan’s life at stake.
I loved how author built the plot so intricately and made a deceiving web in which all the characters got tangled and to get to the truth, one has to peel one layer at a time and they will unveil with truth, suspense and secrets. Though in this book I couldn’t judge the characters for the choices they made because they had limited choices or they couldn’t have made any better choice than what they made. If you are looking for a twisty thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat with a jaw dropping ending and deadly twists, look no further.
About the Narrator:
Andi Arndt is my favourite narrator. She always add feel and vibe of the book in her narration. Characters each distinct voice kept me intrigued. The narrator did a great job by building suspense and edginess to the story. The suspense was spot on. The book kept me up all night.
Many Thanks to the Author and Publisher.
Mary Kubica's latest novel lives up to the hype surrounding it. I've heard so much about this book and it's not even been released yet!
Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse, working long hours at her local hospital. Caitlin Beckett is her one of her patients. Caitlin came in after a suicide attempt from a pedestrian bridge, but is everything as it seems?
She's Not Sorry is an unpredictable, twisted tale with untrustworthy characters, leaving you wondering what will happen next.
This was a gripping read that I couldn't put down right to the very last chapter.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
