Massive love to the @allisonandbusby team for sending me an ebook of Sophia Holloway’s latest regency romance The Catch a Husband to review because, like all of her books it has the same binge reading, addictive quality that has you sneaking off to read until you’ve gobbled it all up! If you’ve read her books before you’ve got all the familiar hallmarks of a Sophia Holloway romance such as dower houses, newly inherited titles and lands, interactions that are confusing to those taking part in them but which are so obvious to everyone else, heavy snowfall and unexpected accidents, and this time, and I can’t believe I’m saying this about a book I adored with so much in it about the topic… fishing. And if you’ve not read any Sophia Holloway yet you’re a fan of Julia Quinn, Jenni Fletcher and Tessa Dare, what on earth are you waiting for??
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to review this book. I love Sophia Holloway's novels and this one is no exception. Mary is a wonderful leading lady, definitely not conventional which makes her story even more interesting. Sir Rowland is a fine leading man, and the will they won't they plays out well between them. I finished this book in a couple of days, I couldn't put it down! #ToCatchaHusband #netgalley #sophiaholloway #allisonandbusby
Sophia Holloway did it once again!! I’ve loved reading her books, I’ve been very lucky to have been sent them from the publisher so when I got an eARC of this, I was so excited!! Sophia crafts regency romance so so well, it’s so easy to lose myself in these books and it’s PERFECT to read in the sunshine while having a picnic!
Absolutely adore these!
This is a very simple and straightforward Regency romance. I like Sophia Holloway's writing style. It feels very authentic to the period, and I enjoy the clean, slow-burn romance. I felt that Madeleine's side story could have been developed a lot more than it was, because it felt slightly unnecessary as it is. The characters were good fun. I would have liked to see more of the "bad" characters. Overall, I enjoyed it.
Another fabulous story from Sophia Holloway. I love a slowburn romance and this one was just about perfect. Mary and Sir Rowley were both wonderful characters and I loved watching their story play out.
I do love Sophia Holloways writing style and can always count on her to deliver a great book. Her heroines are always interesting and are well drawn. I enjoyed meeting Mary Lound, once resident of Tapley End her ancestral home but now unhappy tenant of the dower house along with her mother. Her brother Edmund has ruined the family and sold his heritage. Our hero is Sir Rowley and he his a worthy hero indeed. He has bought the estate and intends to make it his home. The slow burning romance between the two protagonists is a joy to watch, also there is a lot to learn about fly fishing! This is a worthy addition to Holloways previous books and it is a very lovely read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of To Catch a Husband.
She's pragmatic, practical, straight forward, loves the outdoors and does not know how to flirt. Mary's brother has sold her house from under her and her mother and fled leaving them with very little money. Mary being sensible realizes that her way to survival is through marriage and she sets out to Woo Rowland the new owner of her house.
Rowland sees through Mary and likes what he sees. Her awkwardness does not bother him.
The storyline is well developed, clean with a fab Hero and Heroine. Well worth the read.
I loved this book. The characters were well developed and Mary was such a great main character. I really felt for her and her insecurities and so wanted for her to get her happy ending. I love Sophia Holloway's writing style and can't wait to read more from her. I've already recommended her to other people who have equally enjoyed her books.
As mentioned by others, this book has all the style and passion of the writing of Heyer - if you enjoy her writing, try this one.
We follow Mary Lound, certainly not a typical young lady of the time. How refreshing to read about such a character. There is a hint of a modern tone throughout which helps the book become a page turner.
Thank you
Mary Lound wasn’t the usual for a lady of her time. She enjoyed angling and hunting. Mary had little idea of how to flirt and was usually forthright and determined in her manner. She did have a quick temper which did cause her problems. I did feel for Mary and the situation she was in, thanks to her feckless brother. Little wonder her only way out was to marry.
Sir Rowland Kempsey, is a newcomer to the area and I was glad that he could see Mary’s true worth. It was a gentle romance, kisses only, and it did develop slowly into something more meaningful. This was an engaging story with a number of interesting characters, some I liked, some I didn’t but that all ads to the interest. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. However, I did preorder my own copy.
Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book for an honest review!
So I have a regency romance as much as anyone, the characters are well written ane you will love the mfc and mmc so much they are so funny together.
It’s not enemies to lovers it’s strangers to admiration then lovers .
The author takes you into a story that we all know and love in search of a husband so the main character can help her family very similar trope to some other regency books but very good nonetheless.
You’ll be cheering her on getting the man and loving their relationship development.
There’s always a villain or two in regency’s so watch out you might not see this one coming!
Thanks again x
A perfect novel if you love Georgette Heyer. Well plotted, entertaining, another good story by this author

Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
